Hello Everyone, I visited Men's Spa, a few weeks back when I was in town and was amazed with their services. I walked in their employees are very friendly and professional. They truly care about there clients, they offered me coffee, offered me a shirt to change into well getting my haircut. Going over and above to make sure the customer receives the best service. I have never received such great service when it came to getting a haircut, then I did when I visited the Men's Spa. I went in and had Jaeger Moosbrugger cut my hair, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I said just mess around with it. I have never been so happy with my hair then after my visit with Jaeger Moosbrugger. I had a chance to speak with Brad, hes very intelligent and very professional, very appreciative. Brad runs two saloons works 7 days a week and bust his ass for his employees and clients to make sure they receive the best service. I received two "Thank you's" personally from Brad during my visit at the Mens Spa. I was so amazed with the service that I gave the stylist Jaeger Moosbrugger a 8 dollar tip on my 32 dollar haircut. I was so amazed that the quality in service had me walking out feeling like a million bucks. There are a allot of negative people out their that have to much time on their hands to turn around and write negative reviews to discredit someones business. The reason why the turn over was so high is because the old employees had two much power. Hey Larry, do you think it would be smart for everyone of your stylist to have a key so they can do what ever they would like? The previous owner had allowed all his employees to have keys to the saloon, allowing them to have allot of power. Brad came in and there needed to be changes, he doesn't know these stylist, why would he want them to have keys to his business that he owns and pays the bills for. One pissed off stylist could result in thousands of dollars of product stolen and damages to the saloon, that he would never now who did. Larry would you allow these people you don't quite trust yet to have the keys to your new business? I know allot of business owners and could ask them this question and they would make the same change. As a employee I understand why there pissed, but hes not a bad person. My first visit here was when it was Men's Department. At that time, they were offering a 3-pack deal for first-time customers. I signed up. When I called to get my second haircut, I learned they had change their name and the staff was different. I got online to read the reviews and, seeing the negative ones, became wary. When I got to Men's Spa, I was greeted with the same warm, welcoming spirit that greeted me the first time I walked in to Men's Dept. The staff was very kind. I was immediately offered a drink and given a shirt to change into so I wouldn't get hair all over mine. Chris, my stylist, asked me what I was looking for and, with the little I gave him, started to work. The haircut was immaculate. Chris was meticulous about his work and enjoyed what he was doing. Not only that, but he was friendly, conversational, and funny. The staff at Men's Spa create a great atmosphere and interact with each other, as well as the customers, quite comfortably. There was a lot of small talk and a lot of laughing, which made the time go by quickly. By the time the cut was done, I was refreshed and relaxed. The overall experience, which includes a shampoo, optional facial, the cut, a hot towel, a rinse and a style, as well as the friendly, genuine, and caring atmosphere make this place THE place to go for men who care about how they look. On a final note: For those who frequented Men's Dept and became wary of it since the change because of the negative reviews, give it a chance. You will find that the experience is just as good, if not better, than it was the last time you were there! read more

I was surprised by my wife for Father's Day with a trip down to MensSpa. It was a delight to walk in and be greeted nicely and get a handshake from each person I met. I am not the type of guy who would choose to come to a place like this myself. Wow, have I been making a mistake for my first 46 years of life. This was outstanding. I was so impressed by the simplicity of the decor but yet it has such a wonderful upscale and comfortable feel. It is a "GUYS" kind of place. I wanted to just hang out with my cup of coffee (which was delicious) and get in on the eclectic mix of conversation being had. I was pampered and made to feel at home from minute one. My stylist, for a lack of better terms, was easy going and helped me with simple and complimentary solutions with my hair dilemma. As a stay at home dad I am on a budget, but I will figure out a way to make a regular visit to the MensSpa part of my financial planning. Men's (does it have an apostrophe?) Spa Salon is my go-to in Minneapolis. All the folks cutting hair are fantastic--excellent technique, good training, and great service. Each is capable of doing exactly what is requested. They always give great (and usually wise) insight, but in the end will always give the customer what they ask. I've never gotten a bad cut there, and my texture and cranial shape can be tricky. I don't know that I've ever had the same stylist twice in a row (I have very specific windows of time), but I've never been disappointed. I've also used many other services at the salon, and each one has been expertly provided. Manicure, massage, wax, etc all done with care and efficiency by great staff people. I've never felt out of place there, despite the comparatively large size of the business. The clientele is quite diverse, as is the staff, which is always a plus for me. The stylists' aprons are a little hipster-retro for my taste, but do succeed in giving the look and feel of a classic barber shop. The staff is friendly, there's always water or coffee, and there are changing rooms with fresh tees if you desire. It may look like a barber shop on first glance, but it's so much more. Ok. Here's the deal...... I just left Men's Spa (formerly known as Men's Department) and I could not disagree any more with the other reviews previously posted. Prior to my appointment today I had read the recent reviews saying, "Worst haircut ever" and "weird vibe". None of these statements are no where near accurate. The customer service was nothing less than exceptionally phenomenal. As I walked in the door a lanky gentlemen in a shirt and tie took my information and then informed me that Chris would be cutting my hair. He offered up a long list beverages and some quick wit. The conversation was sincere and friendly. I was lucky enough to be paired with middle aged, energetic and quick witted stylist named Chris. Great guy plain and simple. He meticulously shaped and trimmed my hair. Hands down the best haircut I have ever received. In between a few jokes, a number of sincere questions and haircutting I received a wash, face, neck and scalp massage. You could combine all of the past experiences at Men's Dept. and still not have enough to compare to the experience I gained today. My suggestion is to use Men's Spa and use them often. My experience at Men's Spa was nothing short of ideal. The entire experience was professional and comfortable, from the simple touches like being given a shirt to change into to coffee, to the main purpose of being there in the first place: the haircut. I was completely impressed with the entire actual haircut experience. Jake, my stylist, gave me literally the best haircut I have ever had, and my closest friends echoed the same sentiment. I left feeling fantastic. Let me put it this way. I have never in my life pre-booked a return appointment anywhere, even when I worked in an office with a salon on the ground floor. After my first haircut, I immediately bought a three-pack and returned again just last weekend. Had another great experience, and pre-booked another appointment. I'm now a huge fan, and would recommend Men's Spa to anyone. I even chose to take my six-year-old son in, when he wanted a more aggressively stylish cut than I thought a kid-centric shop could handle. And HE left feeling like a million bucks. I find many of these negative reviews left on here for Men's Spa to be borderline hilarious. People and their horrible tiny little "problems" they have with every facet of how their appointment went. Get over it. For me personally, I've found Men's spa to be fantastic. I moved up to the cities a few years ago and had a huge issue with finding a hair stylist that did a decent job. A friend recommended me to try Men's Spa out and I've been going every since. Always been super happy with the way my hair ends up looking when I'm done. Shout out to my stylist Jake, because he's the man when it comes to hair. I can understand it's a bit pricey from some people, but honestly you pay for what you get. And from these guys you can count on an A+ job. Not sure why some people are complaining about the atmosphere either. Everyone there is pretty laid back, but still very professional and very good at what they do. They provide coffee and lemon water. Who does that? Not many businesses. No reason they can't have a bit of fun while they're doing their jobs, especially if they're doing them well I might add. Highly recommend these guys! read more

The first time I heard about this place was from a friend who had recommended it.. he said to go and see Jessica.. I then saw a groupon for this salon so I bought it and gave them a call. When I called to schedule an appointment, they told me that Jessica no longer worked there.. I asked them to book me with the best and I got scheduled with Brad, the owner. I am honestly in disbelief to all of these reviews I am reading about this place and about the people working there. We all have different opinions, yes I know that, but I got the best vibe ever from EVERYBODY there. I could tell that Brad really truly cared for how my hair turned out and interacted with me the entire time. I got a really good vibe from this place and on the plus side.. my haircut was for surely one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. Being a business owner myself, I don't know if these reviews are from staff that no longer work there or from really uptight men... but my experience at the Mens Spa was wonderful. I have been to the Men's SPA 4 times now and have had my haircut by 3 different people just to get a more well rounded experience. Everyone has given me a great haircut and is very nice and accommodating. I like the atmosphere as there is nothing else like it in the MPLS area. Being new to the area, I wanted to find a place that would give me a professional haircut as I regularly wear a suit to work, but am only 30 so I didn't want some boring old man haircut. Also, I was not looking for a barber shop or a women's hair salon. They have very reasonable prices for the service they offer. I really like that they do not charge extra for shampooing, eyebrows/nose/ears trimmed, mini facial, etc. Therefore, if they ask you if you would like something done, you don't have to worry about how much it will add to the price of a haircut. I never went to the original Men's dept., so I don't care about what the 'old company' used to be like. Fact is, if you want a great haircut for a great price, this is the place to go. read more

I just started going to Men's Spa and was really impressed by their professionalism, service, and their dedication to the individual feel comfortable and ease. Everything from the beginning changing into a shirt for my haircut to the coffee, tea, or water that was offered added to this most pleasant experience. I had a great haircut from Damian, my stylist. He cut my hair just the way I would like to have it. Throughout the haircutting he continued to ask me as to how the cut was looking and feeling. I felt engaged with the process. I received a facial and I was so relaxed after it that I could have taken a nap. I will go back to have my haircut with Damian again. I met with the owner Brad. He stopped by the station and chatted with him. He impressed me with his dedication to making your experience a good one and a unique one. I had a wonderful experience at the Men's Spa today. Megan was my stylist and she did an amazing job. Additionally, she took extra time to offer very sound advice for product I should be using for my hair type. At the end of the my experience she shook my hand, reintroduced herself, and thanked me for coming in. Apart from the finished product, small gestures such as these are often great indicators to the quality of the staff. Costumer service was spot on and the rest of the staff was extremely friendly. I have been going to the Men's Spa since they opened and have yet to be disappointed. Some reviews I have read have been slightly unfavorable towards them. I was a customer of the Men's Dept. and remained during the transition to the Men's Spa. I have been getting my hair cut here for about a year. Damian S is my guy, fun to talk to and cuts great hair. He is a young guy but extremely mature and talented. The spa itself has a modern vibe, cool elements of dark wood, glass and bright lights. I have had a massage and a facial as well, those services I found to be average but for the haircut and experience I get month in and month out, it's 5 stars for me. I feel relaxed here and for the first time can say I actually look forward to the experience of getting my haircut vs. just the result. Guys if you want a classic haircut but the ability to add some edge to it if you want to get adventurous, book an appointment with Damian S. My girlfriend who of course is the ultimate judge says he does a great job too. Damian is also fun to talk to but he has a good sense for boundaries if you just need to zone out and relax. read more

I initially tried MENS SPA during their Groupon promo (new to the area and needed to find a good cut) and I am very happy I did. My first hair-cut was done by Jaeger, and I couldn't have been more happy with how my hair turned out.. Until his co-worker Jake recently performed his skills.. I told him to "do what you think looks best", when he spun the chair around, my jaw dropped and I literally laughed because I've never seen my hair look so good. Both Jaeger and Jake are on top of the hair-cutting game and you will want to look twice in the mirror before leaving the joint (I know I do). The atmosphere is light, coffee and water are always offered and a tee shirt is provided so you don't get the clippings on what you're wearing. This is a place that will have my business until I live in the area. read more

I, was caught by the surprise ownership change! But I must say that it was a very good overall experience!! They have added services that make the overall experience more enjoyable. Some of which include free coffee, fresh juice, or flavored water. They also provide a free facial and heated shaving cream with a straight razor shave, which lets be honest you cant have a mens haircut business without the straight razor. I have gotten three haircuts from three different barbers and all are very excellent at there craft. The only thing I would say is don't be afraid to be specific, they will give you recommendations but as long as you speak up they will make sure you leave confident with your hairstyle. read more

First haircut (professionally) in almost 3 months, given Minnesota's shelter in place order mid-March 2020 that also shut down salons and barber shops. Since my last visit, the salon has installed acrylic barriers between work stations, we all wore masks, there were bottles of disinfectant and other sprays accessible everywhere and -- for anyone anxious about undue social contact -- the salon was clearly ready for a new normal. As always, Nick did a great job and was his usual upbeat, friendly self. Great to walk out ready for summer with a clean cut. (If it matters to you, wash your hair before you arrive, as salons are not permitted to do so at this time. And plan to pay via credit card.) read more

First review ever. This was one of the worst haircut experiences I've ever had. I had been going to the Mens Dept for about a year, and was pretty thrown off when I came in for an appointment and all of the staff was gone and replaced. To begin, my stylist could not find his clippers for about 10 minutes, and I really felt like he had little to no experience cutting hair before. I was there for a little over an hour, and the stylist next to me was done with two clients before I had even paid. Very awkward atmosphere made it quite uncomfortable to sit in there as long as I did. Will not be returning and would not recommend. read more

Con: the eye candy is gone :( Pro: all of the new team knows their stuff All of the people on here throwing out bad reviews are butthurt about not getting to leer at hotties when getting their hairs cut. They're the same guys who think staring at women on the bus is the same thing as having a love life. The new team is great, they know what they're doing. The only reason this place is getting bad reviews is because some of the old customers are pissed about them laying people off. Don't let them set you against this place. Those layoffs were needed because even though the old employees did a decent job, they didn't do a great job and I wasn't paying for a decent haircut. I get my haircut by Brad now and he has (and continues) to not only give me the best haircuts I've ever had but also gives great advice on grooming practices. I won't let anyone else touch my hair ever again. Try this place out and don't be set off by the bitter one star reviewers. read more

Gentlemen, Whether you live in the area or are just passing through, this is the place to go for a superior cut. The stylist are each very talented and will give you the exact cut you are looking for. I've had my hair cut by Damian, Jen and Nick and was very pleased each time. At age 56 this is one of the first reviews I've written but after five years of going to Men's Spa I have only great things to say about this place and the staff so consider this a PSA for you, the potential client.
