I've had a lot of massages by many different massage therapists over the years, since I move a lot and get massages at least once a month. Peter made me so uncomfortable during my massage. I was fully exposed for most of the massage, with minimal attempt to keep my groin covered. I'm convinced that he rubbed his genitals on my hand at one point, because there was some back and forth rubbing on my hand that did not feel accidental while he breathed super heavy. The massage itself was not a modality I have ever had before; there was no stroking but instead just pressing and holding for long periods of time which did not do much to relax me or loosen up my tight muscles. I definitely won't be back. My massage was a couple months ago and I delayed in writing this review because I convinced myself it was all in my head, but after reading similar reviews I feel it's important to give my experience a voice so other woman are aware of potential risks. read more

The massage itself was "fine", Peter made a lot of weird noises that made me more uncomfortable than I was relaxed. Afterwards, I paid in cash for my appointment (and tipped!). This was June 9th. A week later on June 19th Peter charged my credit card anyways. I tried calling and calling and he only picked up the phone once to basically brush me off and tell me he'd "take care of it". Disclaimer: I never received a massage therapy service from Peter, so I can't comment on that. When I arrived, I overheard him talking to the client before me. Their discussion continued about 15 minutes into my scheduled appointment time period. I am extremely grateful for that client, however, because through their discussion I learned that Peter has chosen NOT to be vaccinated. He was unmasked, unvaccinated, and did not provide that information upfront. He acknowledged that there is currently a spike in cases, that the disease is deadly, and that the CDC recommended optional masks for *vaccinated* people. Just wanted to let potential future clients know. He did let me know that he will be getting vaccinated this week in order to travel to Europe - but it seems that his main motivation for this vaccination is to enable him to travel and it did not seem to be out of concern or care for others' health and lives. I could not support him upon learning this, but I really hope he gains a new perspective on the severity of COVID-19 and the importance of protecting each other and our most vulnerable communities by getting vaccinated. I have seen peter 3 times in the past, he changed my perspective on my body pain / healing process. He is excellent at what he does. I would highly recommend his service! I have had chronic neck and shoulder pain for years from unconfirmed reasons. Possibly from an accident 12yrs ago, from my bite changing from dental work, or for hunching and eating much too vigorously. (Or all of the above but especially that last one.) I usually just go to cheap chair massage places, but I'm finally ready to start investing in my relief. So I found The Bodyworker on Yelp with perf ratings! Peter's massages are the best I've ever gotten, which includes feeling good during the session but also providing some lasting (and rare) relief. It's clear he knows what he's doing! After my first session, I bought 3 more (if you buy a 3 pack you get $30 off @ $60 per 60mins). The best part -- Peter says he wants to work with me to find the cause, not just alleviate the symptoms. He could just keep raking in the money from my frequent massages, but his goal is to assess and hopefully correct the cause, even if that means referring me elsewhere. I've seen Peter at both locations and can say that this is a unique/somewhat clinical massage session that I highly recommend. The sessions start/end with a consult so he can determine what your ailments are and get to what you're looking for. Then, at various times, he will ask questions to ensure you're getting what you intended. The massage itself is awesome--methodical, very deep tissue, great lotion (you don't leave all greasy). I especially loved the neck/arm/hand detail that you don't get at most places. The (only) constructive feedback would be that I'd love to get a lil more on the thighs/hips but I didn't say anything and (let's be honest) that area is weird since it's so close to the groin. I also did a couples massage with a friend who saw Zak and absolutely raved about how deep pressure it was. There's a language barrier but I was told that it was amazing. End state, I slept ridiculously well and even felt better posture for a couple days afterward. Made an appointment for 2:30 and showed up 10-min prior to the work. Peter texted me at 2:26 and said he forgot his keys and would be 10-min late. Life happens, I replied and said that's fine. 30-min later I texted him, crickets. I called him and he said he was on his way, 10 more minutes. At 3:20 I texted him again and got no response. He never followed up with me as of today. That is a bad way to run a business. I will not use someone who can't even manage to be professional when life happens. Stay Away! read more

I made my decision to book an appointment at the Bodyworker based upon the previous Yelp reviews I read. I will say, everyone who's left a 5 star review is absolutely correct! This place is amazing! I saw Jennifer who was attentive and listened to my needs and concerns. For the entire two hours it was nothing but muscle healing and relaxation. It's hard to find a massage therapist who can really work my muscles, as I have chronic back pain and LOVE deep tissue massage. Jennifer was it though! I was so pleased that I found this place and love my fellow yelpers for writing about their experience too. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone. I have a history of shoulder and arm pain from tension/stress. I had a really hard time finding someone I connected with in my last city who was also able to understand my issue and fix it. First time going to Pete, and I'll definitely be back! He focused the entire 90 minutes on my shoulders and has me feeling 90% better. I knew it would take more than one session, so I'm not the least bit disappointed that I'm not 100% better. Besides being good at what he does, Pete seems to connect with his clients, which is so important when you're vulnerable. Just fantastic. I came to the Bodyworker the day after I ran my first marathon, and it was SO helpful. Peter has such a good understanding of how different muscles react to different types of impact, and he devised a custom, whole-body massage with me based on the symptoms that I felt at the time and the symptoms that might occur within the next few weeks after the marathon. He listened to my feedback and adjusted pressure accordingly. I appreciate that the Bodyworker is more focused on "clinical" massage therapy - right from the get-go, Peter sets up a consultation with you and shows you various muscle groups that he wants to target on his handy-dandy computer model. The place itself is very small. There are only two rooms on the second floor of a building complex. The first room is the consultation room, and then it leads into a nice and peaceful massage room. I purchased the Groupon for three 60 minute massages for $85...such a great deal it was hard to believe! I must say, It was difficult to schedule my first massage. I'm guessing they sold too many Groupons for such a small business. Finally I was able to get in for my massage with Brianna- a new girl the owner hired to help with all the massages sold. The business itself is located in an older building in NE. Street parking isn't hard to find, otherwise there is a pay lot near by. The massage room is nicely decorated and comfortable. Brianna is an excellent masseur! She uses a variety of massage styles including deep tissue and Swedish massage. If you like deep tissue massage, don't let her small frame fool you...she can put some firm pressure where you need it. I'm looking forward to my next massage in a couple weeks. read more

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write this review. I have seen Peter quarterly for the past two years. I came to him with troubling shoulder and wrist pain. Massage therapy with Peter has put the wrist issues to bed. The shoulder requires continual maintenance, but is much improved - especially after a session. Peter has a deep understanding of the muscles and surrounding tissues and how they interact and work together. He offers a consultative session before and after the appointment to be sure you can call out (on his very cool computer program!) the areas you'd like to focus on. I prefer a harder pressure massage to work out knots, and he can really go there if you let him. He's very attentive and concerned with your needs, and is always willing to describe what's going on in the body while you're on the table. He also lets you choose your own music, which is a bonus! I have seen several other people in the Twin Cities at high rated salons and haven't had nearly the relief I've found with Peter. His knowledge of the body really gives him a leg up. (ha). read more

I've gone to Brianna at The Bodyworker many times - it's the best massage I've ever had and I can't see myself going elsewhere. She's friendly, professional, and has some seriously strong hands. You can tell she takes great notes after each massage because she always knows the right questions to ask before getting started to make sure she's hitting the right areas with the right pressure. This was by far the best massage I've ever had (and I've had a lot)! I used a Groupon "Now" offer and chose The Bodyworker because he offers sports massage. After a brief but thorough "interview" during which Peter learned my athletic background and recent issues, he spent the bulk of the massage focusing on my specific areas of need (without ignoring the rest of my body), finding and paying special attention to some major trigger points I didn't know were there, using exactly the right amount of pressure. Afterward, he showed me the muscles he worked on and explained some possible causes behind the recent pain. He even suggested some basic stretches that really target those lower-layered muscles. Bottom line: He knows what he's talking about, he knows what he's doing, he understands the athletes body and how to provide relief. My first session with Peter was pretty awesome. He is super professional and made me feel comfortable right away. I really appreciated the 10-15 minute consultation at the beginning as that meant I was the one dictating how we would focus the 60 minute session. This is not a spa experience - it's muscle work and it really feels more clinical. As an athlete I am relieved to have finally found an MT that's passionate about the many muscles of the body and how they all interact to help us perform at our best. Peter did an amazing job! I had a 90 minute session with him and he did great work targeting the tension in my back and shoulders. He really knows what he is doing, and listens to what you want out of the session. I've now had 2 appointments with Peter and both of them have been outstanding. We discussed the areas to focus on and during the massage he did a good job of assessing and working those areas. I have chronic tense neck muscles and Peter clearly has a good understanding of the body and functionality.
