We chose to sit outside, where the vibe felt like a perfect local hangout. We met some great people who mentioned they are regulars, which says a lot about the atmosphere. While we originally only planned to stop by for a drink or two before heading to dinner, we ended up staying much longer because we were having so much fun. A huge plus is their Happy Hour, which runs until 7 PM every day--at that point, why would we go anywhere else? I can't recall the bartenders' names, but they were all super friendly and accommodating. A few friends tried the specialty cocktails and said they were fantastic. We tried their feature shot per the bartenders recommendation, the "Hello Good Night." It was hands down the best shot I've ever had--I would honestly return just for that! However, on this particular day we chose subsistence for our appetites. Now, we usually go on Prime Rib Monday- when we are going there to eat. We prefer it over Bonefish Mac's Prime Rib Monday (but they are both good). Briny also has specials on Tuesday and Wednesday (one day is Mahi tacos). But, le sigh, this was a Thursday. The place was pretty packed at 5:30 pm.m. with only a couple of open tables. There were a few families and some elderly people and then your typical "salt of the earth" people. Just another day at Briny. The local staff were all present and greeted us with smiles and "Hey- how have you been(s)? They are all very friendly and work well together and know the locals. My son chose the nachos - he is not a big sea food person. They are some very good nachos and I recommend get extra sour cream next time. My husband went with "my" usual order of fish fingers (mahi in a panko breading) and fries. Can never go wrong with this order- solid choice. I went with something I have never had here before- the Mahi Reuben (blackened). I got tator tots with it. Mixing things up! It was very tasty and unique. Something a little different. Then, the guy behind us with his 3 kids (2 in a wagon- haha) and his wife stood up, looked at my husband and said- "Get the fish and chips! It's amazing!" Well, my husband had been pining over that decision because that is his usual order but he was trying something different. The Alley has 20! Lanes built in late 1950's and has all the classic makings of a regular old bowling alley. Everything seemed to be in excellent shape except for the bowling balls. Many were very beaten up, had massive pitting, and many could use replacement. However, I was able to find a couple of good balls and challenge my elderly father to the best of three games. -We had no problem setting up the games or with scoring. (My 86 year old Dad beat me BTW) lol :/ Games were $16 each with bowling shoes included. That is about the going rate that we would pay up in the tri-state, New England area these days. I had a great experience at Manor lanes. It is my closest bowling alley and it's got all the makings of a classic bowling alley, including bar type food and a decent Sports bar. Perfection for me, reminded me of the alleys I spent my childhood in. My dad who has bowled for over 70 years liked it as well, except for the condition of the balls. I'm looking forward to going back to Manor Lanes to bowl a few frames, and possibly get in on a league as a substitute :)
