So apparently they give you one price on the phone and don't intend on delivering on that price. I was quoted 139 for two rear breaks, after all fees and labor. Once they are prepared to do the work after their inspection they attempted to tell me the price was going to be nearly $200 dollars! I told them the quote and they said "that's what we quote on the phone" no other work had to be done either! They eventually were able to offer me the job for 163. Still more than I was quoted! I called about noon on Friday and Henry the manager said to come in whenever I was available so I come in, i went in around 3 o'clock... Left my car there they evaluated it and it turned out I needed have new front brakes and rotors,they were able to give me a discount and complete the job right then all at the same time. I went here for 5 years getting oil changes, brakes, and other minor maintenance. They've always done a good job, I've never caught them lying to me, and they take drop-offs. Brake jobs were always done correctly, far as I can tell. They never tried to charge my wife for "extra" things to try and take advantage of her. They offer a good price on oil changes and will throw in a free rotation. I can't speak to the other locations, but the guys here seem pretty ethical. The day supervisor who'd usually man the desk was Jimmy. Good guy, he'll take care of you. read more

Came in today for brake service and was pleasantly reminded that customer service and being masters at auto repair is what you are sure to experience. My car recently started to make some grinding sounds from the rear whenever I would brake. Since my wife uses the car for her commute to the Bay Area every week, I had to make sure that the vehicle was in top shape for her to continue to use. I had a feeling that the brakes were the big culprit and found out about Brake Masters and decided to bring my vehicle here. First, I placed a call to make an appointment. You can probably get away with not making an appointment but go ahead and make one, especially if you are coming on a busy day (i.e. Friday, Saturday). The young lady who answered was pleasant and friendly. Once I arrived, I come to find out that they do FREE diagnostics on your car. That's right, FREE. I'm glad that Jimmy went ahead and told me that it was a good thing that I brought my car as soon as I did. He told me that my rear brakes were at the point of hitting metal on metal. Fortunately, he also told me that I brought the car in time and that all they would need to do is replace the pads, re-surface the rotors and clean out the rear brake drums and my car would go back to top shape. Like all the reviews, Jimmy/Henry after doing the diagnostics on your car, will tell you up front what your car will need. It's up to you whether or not that you want the service done there and then. Like many of the 5 star comments, I too can recommend this place for your braking and other car needs. Staff was friendly, honest and prices were fair for the services they provide. If you are active duty, mention it to them for 10% off. Also, visit their website and check out any coupons that you can apply to save even more money. read more

Free brake inspections! well you know when people say ...nothing is free ...Now you can say Brake masters! (got a metallica song stuck in my head). master.. that's a hard rep to keep . you know when you got a good mechanic is when you know about the problem with your vehicle... like a power brake went out....and then brake master tell you i fix that problem it'll cost you a nickel.cause of some damn hose decided to slip loose. There are many shops out there that would just replace them or lie and say i needed them when I didn't. I went into Brake Masters on a whim - I hadn't been there in a while, but my previous experience with Jimmy and Henry was really good and I was worried about my brakes. Like last time, my little (different from before) SUV was coming up on 83,000 miles on the original brakes, and like every SUV I've ever owned, the rotors would start to warp and I'd get a little shimmy in the steering when coming down a long hill like the Altamont Pass here. After a thorough once-over by the team at Brake Masters it was determined that despite the long miles on the car and its brakes, I still had plenty of pads left - the rotors weren't bad, and the shimmy is tolerable, so it looks like I'll get 100,000 miles out of these brakes. "They don't make 'em like they used to" they make 'em better now. Upon picking the car up, Henry presented me with the bill - 0$. This is exactly the kind of service and support which makes Brake Masters an outstanding business in Tracy. They focus on their core competence - brakes - and at it, they're beyond reproach. A few days after getting the brakes replaced my boyfriend noticed them making a noise and not working as well. He drives his car all day for work and needs it in good condition. We took the car to another shop in town just to find out that brake masters put the WRONG size brakes on the car! The new shop we were at took pictures and showed us what happened. Brake masters put my family in danger and I am blown away by their lack of customer service. Before I took my corvette here I spoke to the manager about them using the correct rear differential fluid. He ensured me they had the right fluids, and I left my car with them. Brakemasters here in Tracy is a great place. I've had my brakes, maintenance, and oil changes done here for years. This is the first place i go when i need maintenance on my car. These guys are a maintenance only kind of shop, they don't do any of the heavy auto repair, but for regular maintenance, they can't be beat. Jimmy there at Brakemasters really goes out of his way to be friendly to everyone, and he's incredibly honest and up front about everything. WOW! Thank you, Derrick!! You don't find mechanics these days who are willing to take 5 minutes of their time to help you without charging an arm and leg. On our way to the Central Valley on a Saturday afternoon, my check engine light came on out of no where. Given my travel time was at least another hour, and to eliminate the risk of breaking down in the middle of nowhere, we quickly tried to find a mechanic to take a look to make sure it wasn't anything serious. After finding the majority of auto shops closed or none being available to look at my car, we stumbled on Brake Masters. We spoke to Derrick on the phone. His tone alone and the compassion in his voice for our safety already made me feel like this was the right place to go to. We arrived and were quickly greeted. Derrick was even nicer in person!! He asked us to pull the vehicle up front, plugged in his computer diagnostic scan tool and quickly found nothing wrong with the car!! It was a silly sensor that was triggered. Go figure. Derrick gave us a quick breakdown of how this could happen and sent us on our way. Derrick was an honest, and super stand up guy who you can tell enjoys what he does and helping others.
