Had a good experience overall but a couple of frustrating moments. I made an appointment and arrived 15 minutes early. Unfortunately, they were swamped and I had to wait for over an hour to even have my car pulled in to be checked. Once my car was seen, everything went really quickly. I need rotators and new brakes. My service was completed and the manager worked with me to find some deals to compensate for my having to wait longer than expected. I will be back. read more

I've often visited the Broad River Rd location, and the Garners Ferry Rd location twice. Writing the entire details of my last experience would take quite a while but just to get to the point: I had a very unpleasant experience on January 3, 2022. The manager has no customer service skills, is rude and seems to always have a chip on his shoulder. Calling corporate doesn't help either. They do not care. I wouldn't suggest anyone visit this location for any repairs. Poor customer service will ruin your experience. read more

Beware of the Garners Ferry location. Not only did they exaggerate the wear on my front disc and tell me it could shatter, so I looked at them. Please understand I have done front brakes on many different cars. Mine were not thin, faulty or leaking. So after debatiby to them I just need pads. And telling them I don't need 90$ dollars disc, they are 48$ at Advance besides. They did the front, Broke my wheel cover and put nylon ties around it to hold it on. This morning I woke up and my left rear wheel cover had come off. You get a con job right off the start with them then you have damaged wheels after you pay for what you have to get fixed. I got 4 brakes done here a few months ago and they've never stopped squeaking. I've taken my car back several times, only to be treated like a moron and told that they just need to be broken in. After a thousand miles, my brakes are BROKEN IN, thanks...I just want them to stop squeaking! I got tired of waiting 3 hours to get my car looked at so I stopped going here. Won't ever be going back. The $99 job is just for pads and such. If you need ANYTHING else, expect the cost to rise exponentially. My $99 job ended up costing $200. read more

I needed brakes very badly. My brakes were making very loud screeching sounds while normal driving and I wasn't even pressing the brake pedal! I also felt a grinding when I pressed the brake pedal. I began looking for a reputable brake shop. I looked here on yelp and all the reviews were very bad. I didn't know what to do. I heard a radio commercial about Brakes 4 Less so I decided to give them a try since all the reviews were poor for the entire area. I came in very skeptical and didn't expect much. I can't remember the two gentleman who helped me names but they were very nice and professional. They gave me recommendations after inspecting my brakes, I decided to follow their advice as all my pads were shot and needed to be replaced. I already knew that but I guess I thought the front pads had a little life. Why wait another month and have to do the same service again. It was cheaper to have all four replaced at the same time. If you need your brakes serviced I would recommend this shop to anyone. My brakes work perfectly and their are no squeaking or shrilling sounds. read more

There is a reason for this shop to be rated at an overall 2 stars. This may not apply to other Brakes 4 Less locations but this particular location seems to be what I would say on the shady side. Told me the services they were going to perform and a price. When I picked up my vehicle the price had went up almost $200 and three items they said they were going to do didn't happen. Extremely disappointed and wouldn't work with me to correct the over charge or services not performed. read more

Just about the worst place I've ever been. Took the car there to have my brakes done, they quoted me $99 (almost too good to be true, should've known). They called me a couple of hours later and said it would be more like $650 because the brakes were bad in addition to the rotors, etc. After a lot of wrangling over the phone they fixed them for $300. Not even two months later the brakes went bad again. Took them to another mechanic who fixed them for $150 and they've held up for years. The other mechanic thought this place basically was overcharging, got mad and put on worn out brakes. read more

So I went in here on a Monday morning when they were not busy to get someone to look at why my parking brakes were not working so good. At first, the manager behind the counter seemed like he didn't want to do the job saying I would have to leave it for some time and such. Without looking at the car, he said that they could not fix the car if the parking brake cable has gone bad. Then, he got one of his technicians to see if he could do the job meaning see if it's the shoes or parking cable that was my problem. The techician comes back after a minute to report that it was indeed the parking cable. The manager behind the counter said that they could do the job, but would cost about $500 and he asked me if I even need or use the parking brakes; trying to talk me out of fixing it. I took it to another local tire chain in Columbia and they told me that my parking brake shoes had worn out and needed to be replaced. Not the parking brake cable. So I gave them 2 stars because I knew that they didn't know how to fix a parking brake job and wanted me to take it somewhere else, but they were nice about it. I have no doubt that these guys can change brake pads and rotors all day long, but anything else save your time........take it somewhere else. read more

Today I went in for a brake job. The manager turned me away. He stated that my vehicle had too many miles on it, and that they couldnt replace the back brakes because a specific part would break due to the mileage. I went to another shop and they replaced my brakes without any problems. I think that they are lazy and incompetent. Who turns customers away!?!?! read more

The North Woods location in North Charleston, SC is the worst place I have ever been too. No exaggeration! Our appointment was for 9:00 a.m. and we left at 3:00 p.m. No apologies for making us wait, just attitude when we asked why it took so long. They didn't have the parts they needed and then the parts that were delivered were the wrong parts. Terrible customer service, terrible attitudes. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone!! read more

they seemed very well off as far as knowing what they were doing, but when it's busy, it feels like their understaffed. HOWEVER, the manager was nice, gave us a coke for the long wait, and even let me see what my brakes looked like. They are the best. Now I know how to maybe try doing it next time. We arrived for a 3pm appointment a little early.. after getting our info, the person who was supposed to do the work, took his only time moving forward; talking with a woman who wasnt even getting service and a lady who came in after us(wasnt getting brake service at all). we still waited another 15mins before the mechanic even took the car in to take the wheels off. He lolly gagged for the longest time and kept trying to get us to agree to a $300 service that we didnt need or want. For a whole hour we sat that while they talked and talked about things that weren't related to the services needed. As it neared 4pm and no work or progress had been made, we decided to just take our car elsewhere. Never again! read more

I visited the Brakes 4 Less on Garners Ferry and was very disappointed. I was told by the person in the office that I needed all new equipment (brakes, pads & rotors). This was going to cost over $600. I immediately told the guy that I was not prepared to pay that amount. He then spent the next 25 minutes trying to find ways to interest me in purchasing the brakes. After denying every offer, because I knew that he was not telling the truth, I took my car to another mechanic. I only needed rotors and pads on the front ($160). The problem that I went in for was solved for a lot less. The new mechanic did not see anything else wrong with the brakes. Brakes 4 Less is a JOKE and RIPOFF if you let them. I bought a used car to them with 68k miles. I told the gentleman, Jack at the front desk I had no issues just bought the car used and did not know if the brakes were original factory or not. He told me he needed to road test is and inspect the brakes etc. I was there with my two year old son. It was very busy and I made an appt because I wanted to get in and out ASAP. I left and told the gentlemen to just call me with the results of the inspection. He said 20-30 mins and another 1.5 hrs to change them. He called 25 mins later and said "I would not recommend changing these, they are like brand new and have like 95% of the pads still. Would only suggest turning rotors." This gentleman for no other reason than making a bigger sale could have very easily said these are really bad and tried to get me to buy better brake package but he did not. I had my truck towed to brakes for less to have my broken brake fluid line repaired. I was told that I needed to have the rear rotors and brake drums replaced because they were leaking and they would not replace the fluid line unless I have the work on my back brakes done. I declined,and asked why they wouldn't do what I came for. I was told that the brake pedal would go down to the floor, because fluid would leak out. The fluid was working fine before the fuel line got broken. read more

Took our car to them to repair the brakes before we sold it and they inspected it, drove it then made suggestions for repair. The manager was very professional honest and they fixed it at a minimal charge. We are not affiliated with this company and we own several businesses and realize how important feed back and customer reviews can be "folks do your research, check around before you decide to go with a business just because they offer a service at a low cost." Your vehicle's brakes besides the engine are among the top priority for safe/responsible driving. Procrastinating to get something fix; when you first notice the problem, does and will end up costing you more in the long run. Brakes were first installed at the Lexington branch, had went with the more expensive pad and warranty, but had problems with squeals from the get go, was sent to West Columbia branch and then to the Irmo branch where I was assured he was the best. Well the "best" at the Irmo branch installed the BRAKES BACKWARDS and sent me on my way. Long story short, I was stranded on the side of the road and Brakes4Less was not answering their phone. So the nearby Toyota dealership came to my rescue. It took almost 2 years of letters, phone calls, and the threat of small claims court to finally get them to make a partial restitution.
