I strongly recommend NOT using this shop for anything beyond very minor work (at most an oil…read morechange). Before authorizing any significant repair, read the BBB complaints. I wish I had. En route to DEN airport, my steering tightened and car started smoking due to what appeared to be a serpentine belt issue. My roadside assistance allowed for 10 miles free towing, and I found Lucky Legend Automotive through Google. It was close by and reviews were fine. I spoke with Lance, who sounded confident he could fix it quickly and affordably. Based on that, I had the vehicle towed to his shop, which operates out of his personal garage at his home. Initially, things seemed reasonable. He replaced the serpentine belt and tensioner after a few hours, but the issue was not resolved. I left on my trip and he called me and told me the power steering pump was damaged and needed replacement. I authorized the repair and paid approximately $1,600 total ($565 by credit card when I was in person and $1,056 via Venmo at his request). The pump itself was billed at $593, which I later learned was significantly marked up. After more than a week, I picked up my vehicle. The power steering wasn't working and steering was extremely tight. I was told it would "loosen up with driving." I drove the car home without power steering. He also left an unsealed bottle of power steering fluid in the car, which leaked onto my floor mat. The next day, I took the car to Stevinson Toyota West for a second opinion. They diagnosed that the power steering rack and lines were damaged because the system was not properly cleaned when the pump was replaced. Debris from the failed pump contaminated the system and destroyed the rack. The repair cost me roughly $4,500 including a rental car. I texted Lance, explained the diagnosis, and asked if the dealership could remove the pump and whether he would refund it. He explicitly agreed in writing. Based on that authorization, I had the work done. We agreed I could bring the old pump back for a refund. When I brought the pump back to him, his position changed. He claimed he owed me nothing and offered a $100 credit toward future work instead. He then began citing what can only be described as incorrect and threatening "legal" language, claiming he was not liable and referencing clauses he misunderstood or misapplied--even though I had his written authorization to proceed with repairs elsewhere. He said his vendor would not accept it back since another shop took it out (which he confirmed was fine to do) and told me he was "dead broke" but promised verbally to make it right. That never happened. Separately, my AirTag went missing from my keychain. He admitted he threw it into bushes near his house because he thought he was being tracked. It was never recovered or replaced as he had promised. He told me to reach out to him in a couple of weeks and he'd make it right. After this, he blocked my phone number.. The only reason he contacted me again was after I filed a credit card chargeback. At that point, he doubled down, again claiming no responsibility, and stated via text that although he was aware of our prior conversations, he had been impaired when making those promises and was "not thinking clearly." That statement alone should concern anyone trusting this person with their vehicle. Bottom line: I paid $1,600 for work that did not fix the problem, contributed to further damage, and required thousands more to repair. A refund was promised in writing and later denied. Communication stopped once money was requested back, and legal intimidation replaced accountability. I support small businesses and independent shops, and I did not want to write this review. But I feel misled, overcharged, and stonewalled. Based on my experience, this is not a reliable or trustworthy business for major automotive repairs.

I schedule an appointment for a smoke test with a complementary diagnostic testfor April 23rd. Brought my car in that morning. My car was kept the entire day as I called to check. I was informed that the guy inspecting on my car would be giving me a call. I never got a call when I called back that evening. They said that he had already left. on top of that there was no smoke test done whatsoever due to some cold that did not reappear (Absolute BS). The next morning I I call to get an update they said that they would need to keep my car for an additional day to run the smoke test. I get back home from the funeral service I attended and still no testing has been done. I was told that they need to keep my car until Monday to do the smoke test due to a code not showing Up. I picked up my car and just them forget about it. They charged me $190 for nothing. I did not even get any information that I needed due to the smoke test. If the diagnostic test was supposed to be complementary. The last part about this experience, the hydraulic stick that keeps the hood up on my car all of a sudden does not work. I went back in Monday and to this back working and I was told. "we're not gonna promise that we won't charge you". I just walked out. I don't know who I need to talk to, but I need my $190 back ASAP. This is absolute bullshit. I had to fix the car on my own. I wouldn't recommend this place to as talked to other people within the community who has had the same experience with this business. Give me my damn money back! do the work and treat people's time with respect. I would have been better if they were just honest and said they could not do it. instead they took my money and gave my car back with an additional issue.

After the work done, the car felt pretty much same or sometimes even worse, for example the handle gets really stiff to turn. He says that it's very normal process because the air has to be bleed out. Weeks have passed with same issue so he came to check the car again and said there's power steering pump rack problem. The rack is usually $1000-2000. Personally didn't really think it would be the rack problem with several reasons and decided to take the car to bigger auto shop. After diagnosis, I was told that the power steering pump is failed because when it was replaced, the flush should've be done but since he skipped it, now debris in fluid damaged not only the whole new pump but also hose and reservoir. Of course as car owner, I was definitely frustrated with the fact that now I have to pay extra more money than before when I thought I could save money because of how mechanic guy has done. I personally had to pay new power steering pump+labor fee but now I have to pay another new power steering pump+hose+reservoir+another labor fee. I will accept the fact that I was asking money back at first because.... who wouldn't? It might not be making sense to ask money back for damaging the new power steering pump by how poorly worked done but I thought the labor fee at least would've been made sense. Instead of taking accountability, he would be defend and saying the book he learned from says that power steering pump replacement is totally okay without the flush and had no problem with all other cars or sending me the google search screenshots. Of course the warranty wouldn't cover anything of things even if he damaged the new part and extra parts of car. Currently I wanted to see more opinions than one or two so took the car to another new auto shop, they also agreed that power steering pump is failed and with high possibility from how it was worked done. Surprisingly the rack itself doesn't look like having a problem, different than what this guy said. People at auto shop also say that flush is very necessary for the pump replacement, especially when the car is old. As I personally said to him, people can always make mistakes but important thing is how to handle. I got an apology eventually. But I wasted money. The other thing, he advised me to replace rear break pads soon. I went to check the break pad recently, all my break pads are not needed to replace due to adequate thickness. I would say he is a capable man to do some works on cars but I can't say he would be with more complicated jobs.
