I had a very upsetting experience at Brakes Plus store #208. I had gone in for a brake job where they were supposed to resurface ("turn") two rotors, since the other two were brand new from February. After paying to the tune of nearly $500.00, I got back in my car and didn't even make it out of the parking lot before noticing something was seriously wrong. As I rounded a corner and approached the stop sign, I immediately felt a heavy kickback in the brake pedal and heard a loud thumping sound. Instead of leaving, I drove straight back to the bay. The manager, Hector, was outside talking with a few employees. I signaled for him to come over and explained the issue. They pulled the car back into the bay and lifted it. After about 25 minutes, Hector came back and told me the problem was a "torn and busted CV joint with grease everywhere." This didn't make sense to me, especially since the car had no such issue when I arrived. Hector told me I could bring the car back "tomorrow" and he'd show us the damage. The whole situation made me uncomfortable -- especially because my husband later inspected the car himself and found no torn CV joint, no grease leak, and nothing broken. Unable to trust that this location would not intentionally brake the excused reason (falsely claimed broken cv joint) and because the brake issue was still happening, we took the car to Brakes Plus store #204. This is where Chase helped us. Chase was extremely kind, professional, and thorough. He inspected the car right away and discovered that the real issue was that the rotors (ALL FOUR) were completely shattered -- something that definitely should have been caught at store #208. Store #204 went above and beyond and fully redid the brake job correctly. I am very grateful for the integrity and care at store #204, but the experience at store #208 left me feeling misled and very concerned. I hope Brakes Plus addresses this, because the difference between the two locations was night and day. I can't think of one customer who appreciates being lied to or mislead. I'm truly disgusted at Hector not just placing my family but countless strangers on the road in such danger. read more

Went for a simple oil change, checked the level of oil afterwards in their lot and it was overfilled. Over filling can cause serious damage and big repair bills replacing gaskets/seals. Who would check the level after a simple oil change, I did because my other vehicle developed an oil leak. Check the level of oil on that vehicle they also changed the oil in and sure enough, it was over filled by a little less than a quart after leaking 9-12 months. If this place can't do a simple oil change what can they do correct? They break your car so they can fix it for more revenue. Instead, they lost a customer even telling me not to come back with their attitude after arguing with me when I confronted them that it was over filled for the recent vehicle. Giving excuses the oil expands due to heat, the car sat for over an hour before we even picked up the car, it was driven for a total of 10 minutes total that day when it's a mile from home. We drained the oil immediately seeing they refused with so many excuses and got over a quart out bringing it just below the high mark. Oil doesn't expand a quart worth when I could touch the engine and the oil stick wasn't even hot. Never go to brakesplus again, people there are not accommodating and are very rude! read more

Just got off the phone with the manager his name is Jeff. Talked to him about my situation on my alignment that they didn't align my moms car right. I'm a technician and I did a whole suspension rebuild on her car. But my mom does not know anything about cars. When I worked on her car today I noticed it pulls to the right. This was 6 month ago she got her alignment. A proper alignment with everything installed brand new. Lasts about 2-3 years not 6 months. I said I have proof of my work. I am always worried about these places, but I want to share my actual experience with this outfit. Here is mine: First, they need to improve on telling me when my oil change is actually going to be done...aka SET EXPECTATIONS. Not so good saying, "Your car will be ready by 1 and then it's not." That happened here, but they did give me a discount and acknowledged it; that is good customer service. Second, I had an issue with my oil filter leaking after I had an oil change, but these guys towed my car back, cleaned it and fixed it, at no charge. That rocks! Third, I had a repair issue that they were going to have done by that day, but they broke my fuel line...sucks. But hey, we all make mistakes. They could have screwed me but they admitted it and took care of it at no charge. Who does that anymore? I checked some of their prices for their repairs and found everything to be in line. I've been having my car serviced here for about 5 years. It was my grandma's old Buick and now my son is driving it. Brakes Plus has done everything from shocks to motor mounts, ball joints, tune-ups, AC, serpentine belt, etc. They have always done great work, warrantied parts quickly, and made sure I had a ride when needed. Went in for an uber inspection. I have small cosmetic damage that you can see right away. The guy proceeded to take an hour and a half doing the inspection just to fail me for that small damage that he could've told me would've failed right away. What really bothers me is that I was told to wait in lobby because it would be quick. Several times multiple employees where in lobby not wearing masks. I had a great experience at brakes plus today. I knew I had a problem with my brakes because they have been making a grinding noise for quite some time. Normally I would take my vehicle to shop in north Phoenix that I know and trust because they are always honest with me. So I reluctantly went to brakes plus expecting them to try to upsell me on a bunch of services that I didn't need. I was extremely surprised to find out they were honest with me they showed me that when I really needed was to have my brakes adjusted and they also took a look at the rest of the vehicle and cleaned up some corrosion on the battery for me. Was able to get out of there today for less than $100 and now my vehicle stops great. I will definitely be back and I recommend them 100 percent. read more

Came here a few weeks ago to get one of my car's axles repaired. Called the manager before rolling in and he gave me an honest price. Told me he had room to fit me in and I drove a few miles to arrive. I was greeted very courteously, with the employees all being polite. The car was inspected and I even got a coupon I wasn't expecting. They told me the wait was one hour and I didn't have to wait a minute longer. Helped by the local Subway, coffee, and Judge judy tv, I managed to hang on for 60 minutes. The car came out on time, it was inspected a final time, and a few weeks later everything seems good.
