I would advise anyone who is looking to fix their car with brakes plus and will possibly deny their services after they quote a price, to double check your car for oil. I came to this place for a service in which I ended up denying because it was simply way too costly. I asked for the car to be parked back in the lot since I was denying their services. 5 hours after the phone call, I arrive to pick up my car, which was STILL in the garage with the hood open. After leaving and driving the car, I began working on it elsewhere. However, my first step was checking my oil level only to find out that the motor was completely dry and when I mean completely dry, I mean COMPLETELY DRY. Why would my motor be completely dry with no oil, if BrakesPlus RECOMMENDED CHANGING MY OIL DUE TO GETTING NEW CAMSHAFT SENSORS (Hence there is oil in the car). BrakesPlus needs to check their verbiage if they are going to scam someone. Just because the customer denied a service for a company they don't even OWN, does not make it okay for them to mess with customers cars. The manager Jeff (his name according to front desk guy) was extremely rude and seemed uninterested since the beginning. I have been going to Brakes Plus in Laveen for several years to service my 2007 Eclipse. I have always had positive experiences. They are always friendly, professional and service my car in a timely manner. I've had all my oil changes done here as well as had them put on new struts on my car. I went in to have my brakes checked, was told i need new brakes and rotors, quote almost $500 went to get a 2nd opinion because i felt they were not being honest and found out my brakes are still good & did not need to be fixed, not sure if it was because I am a woman they thought I would buy into the lie! It was a rough visit. First I got there and they said they had no shuttle vehicle to take me home because the driver was sick and they said I would have to wait. When I had made the appointment they said they would be available. I sat for from 8:45am to 11:30am just for them to tell me I needed back brakes. Which is what I told them I needed in first place of course there were other recommendations but back brakes was the necessity. Then I sat there until after 3pm in the afternoon waiting for my car. First they told me I needed new rotors and they would give me them for free for the wait. Then they came back turns out they had to order the brakes from the dealer and it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow so they all of a sudden had a driver to take me home in the shuttle car. The brakes were not done until after 12:30 the next day. Even though I called at 10:30am and told it would be no longer then 1.5 hours. It was not the best experience. I did get the brakes done only and they did those for free though technically they offered rotors to me for free the day before and that was not done at all. I'm giving a 3 just because the guy helping me was super nice and apologetic but it was a lot to go through and several missed appointments that had to be rescheduled. read more

I didn't get anything repaired. I rolled in because a competitor said I needed brakes. I wanted to get a second opinion so I took my car here. Herman was very helpful and after the break inspection it turns out I didn't need brakes. I appreciated his honesty. He could have easily said that I needed brakes and try to beat the competitors price. Unfortunately, I haven't done business with them yet but it can change soon. I waited a week for the soonest available time brakes plus had to bring my van in. I dropped it off at my 9am appointment and explained my problem. Last fall my daughter disconnected the front and rear actuators because they were sometimes clicking loudly. She wasnt sure if that could be draining my battery. This left my ac working but not blowing through the vents properly. Since the heat has returned i wanted them reconnected and the part replaced so they were not noisy. My daughter is now 8 months pregnant and cannot do this. I finally got a call from brakes plus at 4:44pm and was told i would need to take my van to the dealer. They put it on their diagnostic machine and it was an issue for them. I had a 9am appt and was very annoyed that they had my car all day. I dont think a diagnostic test would take that long. After i brought my car home, my husband and daughter reconnected the front actuator and the front vents now blow cold air!! The mechanics must have taken the passenger door off because it will nolonger unlock without a scredriver. There was a problem with the door window not working and only able to open from the outside, but that was not why i brought the car in and now i have a worse problem with not being able to unlock it!! Had an appointment to go location to get an alignment done and oil change had it all set up then some guy other than the manager comes inside and decides to start spewing out the mouth that there's going to be all these extra fees that's part of the alignment and when I spoke with the manager and the manager told me that's part of the alignment fee trying to backpedal from what the other guy said I decided at that point just to take my car to the dealer where it'll get done correctly and I'm not going to be tried to be ripped off. Unfortunately due to the incompetence of the worker I will not be going back to this location nor will I refer to people to go to this location or any of their locations. For a few extra bucks I'd be better off to get it done at the dealership and not have nickel-and-diming folks trying to take advantage of the customer otherwise Tyler the manager was great just his workers need to either speak with him and confirm what that's going on before they talked to the customer or find out what's really going on in the business. I would give it less than 1 star either half or 0 but it doesn't give you that option. read more

Right after Thanksgiving, my car went from driving fine to not starting. I called Brakes Plus and spoke with Tyler and they were able to get me in as an overnight drop off. I let Tyler know that I had taken it to Autozone and they tested my battery and that had noted that the battery was fine but the alternator was not working properly. I also had gotten an amp warning from my trickle charger/battery conditioner.Tyler let me know that he would have the techs check everything. I let him know that if the alternator was going, to replace the belts at the same time, as they hadn't been replaced in a long time. After the diagnostic, Tyler called me to let me know that it was just the battery and that the alternator showed a "ripple" during their test but that he wouldn't replace it in his own car. So, trusting the mechanics knowledge that my alternator should be good and that the battery was to blame for all the trouble, I picked up my car the next morning (12/1). I drive about 4 out of the next 8 days and put less than 500 miles on the car. As of yesterday, the battery indicator light came on. I called Tyler and he set up for me to drop it off again last night. Only problem was that I was 30 miles away from Brakes Plus when the light came on. I also have my infant son with me. So after arranging for some one to meet me at brakes plus, I start the drive to the shop. As I'm driving down the road, thankfully NOT on the freeway, I lost all power systems and have to coast to the side of the road. After getting it towed to the shop, and leaving it overnight, I'm expecting someone to be ON IT first thing in the morning, as this is the 2nd time in less than 2 weeks that my car has come in for electrical issues, and they had ample opportunity to get it in first thing, as it was sitting in their lot over night. At 9 I have to call to see what's happening. I don't speak with Tyler, but now with Mike. Mike has to call me back as they had not started it yet. After about 30 to 45 minutes he calls me back to let me know the alternator is toast. AFTER I HAD JUST BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE ALTERNATOR BEING A PROBLEM!!!! And I was reassured that it was the battery. Now I'm being told that alternators can just go out "like that". Mike is gracious enough to let me know that he is willing to warranty out a BRAND NEW BATTERY, as the alternator going out could damage the battery. Now, after already spending 180 for a new battery less than 2 weeks ago, I have another almost 600 to spend to replace an alternator that I had been concerned with to begin with! On top of this, Mike mentioned that my belt has "some cracks", which apparently were not caught last week when they supposedly checked my car out and made sure the alternator was ok to drive with! I am severely disappointed in the reliability of the service performed here. I am sorely disappointed in the customer service, in which it is a "sweet gesture" to warranty out a brand new battery, rather than admit that the electrical system was not properly tested and checked out the first time and that the alternator should have been replaced as requested the first time. Not only does this situation reflect poorly on their service and their techs, but it put me and my infant son in a precarious position that could have ended very badly. For me to have lost all power, while on the freeway, trying to coast to the shoulder, with no lights, no power steering, no engine, could have resulted in serious injury! As of this moment, I'm waiting to see if Tyler is willing to remedy this situation, my car is supposedly getting a new alternator and belt now. If the situation is rectified appropriately, I will update my review. read more

I always expect to pay a little more if I have somebody else do the work on my vehicle but I went in to do a simple brake job. replace the rotors and brake pads that's it they quoted me $348.00 just for parts I literally had to walk out to avoid from laughing at him. I went to a local Parts supply nearby I got the same exact thing they just quoted me $348.00 for and purchased with a 2 year warranty for $59.48. It is highway robbery what these people are trying to get us to pay. They should be ashamed of themselves. They falsely advertise their mission statement as an honest and reasonably priced buisness but its all false and nobody should trust this place.... read more

I visited this location a few days ago and if i could give more starts I would. I was greeted my mike when i walked in and he assisted me right away. I had made an appointment the day prior for my brakes. They had been making a bunch of noise so i knew it was time to get them looked at. Mike asked me what was going on and made it a point to make sure they would figure out what the problem was. As they took my car back i waited in their lobby, which was great! They offered me water while i waited. Made me feel comfortable. As a lady, i always get nervous going to car shops because i always feel like i get treated like i know nothing and they can charge me extra because i wont know what they are talking about. However, at this location, Tyler made sure to explain and show me what was wrong. Made sure that I understood what needed to be fixed and what my options were. He made it personal and told me what he uses on his car and truck and told me his thoughts on the options he presented. He even showed and gave me a quote for some other things he saw wrong with the car. My brakes starting making a lot of noise, so I knew work was needed. Based on their ad and coupons in the Entertainment 2012 Phoenix book, I looked up Brakes Plus online and searched for the location that got the best reviews. The Lower Buckeye location got great reviews on Google (none were on Yelp at the time), so I decided to give it a try. I'm new to the Phoenix area and was nervous about being overcharged for auto service. I was not disappointed with my choice. The shop was clean, the staff friendly and the repairs were done at a very fair price. They truly only did what was needed and they charged me the price that was advertised. They did not try to upsell me on anything. The only negative was that they forgot to return my wheel lock key. That said, when I called to tell them about it, they were very responsive and apologetic. They looked for it and called me back to let me know they had found it, were holding it for me, and would give me a card for a free oil change for the trouble of coming back to pick it up. I drove quite a bit of extra distance to try out this shop and I will defintely be back the next time I need work on my car. read more
