John is a dying breed of business owner. He holds every certification in his field known to men. He is down-to-earth, charismatic, and genuine. He gave me an honest assessment of my oak trees and recommended I prune them during the summer season. Apparently, oaks go dormant during this time. I received other quotes from Yelp, but none of the businesses where as forthcoming. A handful did not even bother to visit the property in person, opting to look at pictures of my trees instead. I've decided to wait on the work as recommended. I've narrowed it down to two companies, John's is one of them. His quote is not the lowest, but a premium for his expertise is expected. There is one oak I'm planning to remove due to its location and poor state. The city requires an evaluation from a certified arborist before it can be taken down; John will be the man to do it. When John came out to my house to quote for fire abatement prep, he shared so much information with me that I felt very confident about hiring him. For example, he said that trimming our pine trees during the summer would attract more harmful insects than if we did it during the winter. He was the second person to tell me that our palm trees were over trimmed making them susceptible to disease. For years, I've hired various people to trim our palm trees and the fact that the trunk was always torn up from spikes really bothered me. He said that his company uses a 40' ladder and then spikes only at the very top when needed. Not only does this keep your tree looking great, but diseases can be spread from tree to tree via spikes. He also told me that he could apply a chemical to our many sumac bushes so they wouldn't return year after year saving us the future expense of having them cut back. We had several large sumac bushes to be removed as well as trees to remove and trim, and overgrown bushes and vines that needed to be cleaned up. While his quote was one of the highest, I knew I would be getting the best service from someone who really understood the correct way to do things, not just the fastest. I was not disappointed. I was astonished when his crew arrived at 7:30am and was done at 12:45pm and my yard looked great. I will be hiring them again. I couldn't recommend Jon and his crew more! We moved to Claremont about five years ago and quickly realize that we needed to get in front of our five huge sycamore trees in our yard. We had a bunch of tree services come out and give us quotes for trimming which were all hugely expensive and had no desire in educating me. I talked to a friend across the street who is an arborist (and actually trains people to become an arborist at a local college) and he recommended John. John spent a good hour with me explaining everything. At the end of the day we've gone with Branch Managers (also known as Best Tree Service) now for five years Having them come out every few years and trim our trees. We referred them to several friends as well that have had everything done from trimming to having to remove trees from there or yards and everybody could not be happier. If you want to hire a service to come out and just take your money and trim your trees without great knowledge go with somebody else. However if you want somebody who really knows what they're doing and is looking out for the long-term health of your trees go with Branch Managers! read more

Tree trimming is both science and art. John is a certified arborist with a good knowledge of trees, timing for trimming for optimal tree health, and knows just how much to trim (the art). John gave me a quote in June yet said it wasn't the right time to cut them so he put me on the calendar for November. He and his team arrived yesterday on time, worked hard, trimmed 3 trees, and cleaned up beautifully. Quality work at a competitive price! John and his team came recommended by a very reputable arborist who has since retired so I was looking forward to working with him and his team. At first he was moderately responsive but then, never returned my calls. I finally got him to come look at my bottle trees. He could not figure out the real issue as to why they were dying, but insisted it was partly due to the dog poop on the lawn. Him and his team chopped down the tree that was definitely dead, and then poorly ground down the remaining tree stump about 6 weeks ago. We agreed that day, that he would probably have to come back another day for the other tree if it worsens, which it did, FAST. He has not returned any of my calls since then. I was forced to find a new arborist due to the extreme winds and my concern for the tree toppling onto my house. Immediately I noticed a huge difference with this arborist. He got down with his chisel and chipped away at the base of the tree and was able to confirm our tree has Oak Root Rot!! The worst possible thing. And he also informed us that when you grind up a stomp that has root rot it spreads all the particles into the air and spreads to surrounding trees - which is what caused our other tree to decline so quickly. At first we were happy with Johns tree service but after he couldn't diagnose my trees, did a crap job grinding up the tree stump which never should have been touched in the first place and would not return my calls aka "ghosted" me we will not be using his service in the future. read more

They responded very quickly and were able to come out the next day. There was an issue the day of my appointment because of something on my part and the owner was SO UNDERSTANDING and kind. He was willing to come back out at any time that day if I could fix the issue. I was not able to fix it that day so they came out the following day. They were very quick, did an AMAZING job, and even cleaned up after themselves (sadly not everyone takes this extra step)!! We will absolutely be using them again in the future. Have worked with Branch Managers for two different tree removals. One was an enourmous Oak that died suddenly and was difficult to get to (no vehicle access) and dangerous to my house if it didn't come out. Branch Managers handled it quickly, efficiently, and most importantly, safely. I was very grateful for their hard work. The second time we worked with Branch Mangers, it was to remove a massive pine tree, also not in a convenient location... Again, Branch Managers were incredible, getting me scheduled quickly and having the tree out in 1.5 days. I also had a peculiar request in that I wanted the tree removed in specific large sections in order to mill it for flooring. This was done flawlessly. We love working with this team. Some trees around my backyard had overgrown over the roof, some needed a trim and some were dead. I was looking for a local business to support and found John. John first came over for a check up and he ended up giving a lot of consultations about the trees. He is a knowledgeable arborist and I learned a lot from him about the trees in my backyard. He also gave me advice on what trees may and may not need. For example, do you know that pet urine is toxic and prolonged exposure would kill a tree overtime? He is very easy to communicate and we hired him without going to a second vendor. His crew came a week later and they were a great team to tackle all the tasks within 2.5 hours. They clean up after themselves and the yard looks so nice now. Also, on the day of, John saw one additional tree on the other side of the house that needed to be trimmed. We did not discuss about that tree when he came for price quote but he trimmed it for free for us.
