Those with Carrotwood trees know it's a nice looking evergreen tree that does well in SoCal, but it also needs regular trimming to keep it off your roof and not over the neighbor's property. Absolutely fantastic! True professional arborists who know how to trim trees without damaging them. I hired A & J to trim my large juniper tree that was drooping on one side with a branch on the ground. They removed all the low hanging branches and opened up the inside of the tree to allow more light to come through. They don't top trees, which only weakens them. Our neighbors had their trees trimmed. We have a large beautiful ash tree on our property, and some of the branches extend over the fence onto their property. Without anyone contacting us whatsoever, they completely butchered our beautiful tree right up to the property line and all the way to the top, damaging the tree. Now we need to do a corrective pruning on our side, (to the tune of $1000) so that the tree grows back properly. However, it will be years before this tree once again looks full and gives shade to not only my home, but the neighbors home as well. I have contacted numerous tree trimming companies and sent them the pictures and they are appalled that any legit tree trimmer would do such a thing. Never use this company. read more

Called for a quote Tuesday night on tree removal and they came Wednesday morning to look at the work needed. After getting a handful of quotes I decided to go with A&J as I felt they were willing to put a little more work into the removal of the tree stump to ensure it does not grow back. They came today, Thursday and in less than an hour had the tree gone. They will be back in 2 months to see how the stump is doing after applying chemicals to deteriorate it and grind out the stump at that time. The entire team was very nice and quick!! I got multiple quotes to grind two stumps. One yucca and one palm. Both are soft and easy to do with perfect access. The quote I got from A & J is ridiculously high. Here's the quote. "Hello Robert, for stump grinding we charge $10 a diameter inch. And we grind down 4-6" below grade." There isn't a tree service anywhere in the country, that I could find with a good Google search, that gets more money for less work than this. Every other company will either grind 12-18 inches or until they see dirt. The good quotes are $300-350. The high is $500. A & J would be over $1,000 for MUCH LESS work and grinding and the yucca is likely to grow back. I would have to be truly stupid to go with this quote over other licensed bonded companies that have bid this job and been generous with there knowledge and expertise and that wold do a better job at grinding below grade and hauling away the mulch. As Forest Gump says, "stupid is as stupid does". read more

A+service! The gentleman is a true arborist, he is fair, honest and thorough. We had our palms previously trimmed by, what we know now to be, an incompetent man with a chainsaw. Unfortunately, because the palm on the left was trimmed incorrectly, it deformed when growing out and started to lean to the left. A & J advised us that he would try his best to save it but that he could not guarantee it. Its been about two months and our palm is alive and headed back in the right direction! Roland showed up 10 minutes early on the scheduled day and gave me a very reasonable quote for the job. I was getting quotes from other companies on the same job but I decided to go with A&J because not only was their pricing reasonable, they have great business acumen. I have used several different tree service companies over the years and A & J is my favorite. The owner, Roland, is very nice and easy to work with. He is very knowledgeable about trees. They have all the appropriate qualifications to do tree work. They do excellent work. They clean up well after themselves. I was surprised at how fast they got the job done. I don't think I could have gotten a significantly lower price unless I had gone with someone less qualified. After I called, they gave an estimate within a couple days and did the work a couple days after that. They recently trimmed two tall Queen Palms and removed a Carrotwood Tree which was a volunteer and was growing too close to a wall. I have used them twice before, in the past. read more
