I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. Patrick was such a delight and paid so much attention to detail without being overbearing to our table. All of the staff was very friendly and outgoing. I almost imagined what it would it be like to work there for a second. Our waitress was great and our food was nice and hot! The only reason they did not receive 5 stars was because the lighting, bathroom cleanliness, and it was cold inside (they had the door open most of the day/night). Not trying to knock the place. Can't imagine what they're going through as a small business during all of this, but half the things I ordered were inedible. As I'm sitting here my stomach hurts. The Brussels sprouts which cost a whopping $10 were not roasted, they were lukewarm and had no flavor. The nachos were barely even nachos, again Luke warm and the chili was mainly just slices of sweet potato that weren't even cooked through. What surprised me the most was that the salad I ordered which was a Greek salad was even bad. The whole salad tasted as if it had been sitting out for like 20 minutes as the lettuce and even the croutons were soggy and gross. The frenchfries were good, liked the mac n cheese bites and the popcorn chicken. If you're gonna go for drinks and like basic bar food go for it, but if you're looking for a dinner this place isnt it. read more

The karaoke seems really fun and good on Thursdays. The DJ is great and the energy is nice. The French bartender is probably top 3 in the worst bartenders I've encountered. Way too drunk and seems to only pays attention to their friends. No one else was waiting for drinks at the almost empty bar area and even though I was standing right next to his friend that he was drunkenly slurring to, he wouldn't acknowledge me. I said "sorry, excuse me" kindly after a minute and he kept drunk talking at his friend and so I waited another minute for a break in his slurring and said "hey uh sorry uh can I order a drink" and nothing despite looking at me and then kept slurring at his friend. Came back ten minutes later after watching a few karaoke songs in the back and came back to the bar area where it was still pretty empty and he was still drunk talking at his friend. I tried to order again but nothing. Came back 5 minutes after that and he said he was out of glasses and it'll be a few minutes and that I should come back. The entire time he was standing there drunk talking at his friend while in front of the sink but not doing any dishes despite half the bar lined with dirty glasses in front of him. I came back after another few songs and he asked "what took you so long? It's been waiting a long time" haha! So was I! The drink was a well rum and coke. I work in the industry and enjoy tipping really well and this is the only time I didn't tip the bartender! I still feel bad about not leaving at least $1 but then again it's like, why do that when truly there shouldn't be a tip for this awful drunk dude? read more

Oh man what a disappointment. I'm giving two stars because the watermelon sangria was tasty. The service is absolutely horrendous. I understand that it's Covid- 19 however let customers know what is going on. First off we ordered our drinks and asked for straws which the server never brought. When we reminded him about the straws he said that there were no more straws left and that's why he didn't bring any. That was the first offense because why wouldn't you just tell us that there were no more straws left? Come to find out he lied because a different server brought us three straws. I asked what GazPacho is and the waiter said you wouldn't like that it's not for the American pallet. I'm not American. And even if I was, it's extremely rude judge. I'm always a fan for late night restaurants in prospect heights. They serve food up till 3 am certain days! We had the corn on the cob which was really flavorful and fried beets for appetizers. Loved it! Then we had pulled pork and brisket on texas toast for the main course. Late Thursday night dinner, I was pleased with the options. I also wanted to the try the mac and cheese but I couldn't eat so much all in one night. This was my first time at Branded Saloon. We were told to just pick a table to sit, so we did. There were no physical menus given to us and no QR code on the table. When the waiter Antonio approached us, he didn't ask how we were doing and just went to "do you know what you want?" Well, we didn't because we didn't have menus. Antonio rolled his eyes at us and said the QR code was on a board, off the sidewalk on the street. We asked for water and he said with a tone, "Water is over there. If you want it, you can go get it." We then ordered spicy margaritas. My friend's margarita was muddled with so much jalapeno that it was undrinkable. When we asked if that could be changed, Antonio went straight to "no" and told us with attitude that we would have to pay for it because "it's spicy for a reason." Then I said, "well would you be able to mix in more simple syrup and make it more mild," which is what Antonio should have offered instead of being rude. We didn't say we weren't planning to pay. We just wanted the drink to be fixed. I then ordered Greek fries and added bacon. I asked Antonio if the bacon would be bacon bits and cut up, to which he said yes. When the fries came, they were overcooked and with a side of long bacon strips. Has anyone ever put long bacon strips on fries? Makes no sense. I barely ate them. At the end we were FORCED to pay the 20% auto-gratuity on our party of two on top of it all. It was outrageous. The service from Antonio was terrible. When I asked another waiter, Andrew, for the auto-gratuity to be taken off and explained what was happening, Antonio came over and told me in front of the other server that "we were the ones being rude." To which I replied, "How have I been rude to you?" Antonio had no answer to that and said, "You can go on the website and complain." Then Antonio walked off with a smirk and giggling. I just moved down the block and now plan to never go back to this establishment. There was also no management on site. The servers were working on their own clearly unsupervised. Andrew asked me to leave my phone number so he could try to reach management to do something about it, but nothing was done. Hence this review. read more

My first time at a queer bar, and it was incredible! I was here for the weekend from Austin, and I went on a Saturday night, and then again the next Sunday :) I don't drink, the first time I got water and the staff was very sweet. From the person at the door to the bar and food people, it was a great experience. I started talking to a few groups of people and they were all friendly and welcoming! When I was about to leave, a staff member told me that people were dancing downstairs, and I enjoyed that as well! Then on Sunday, I went around 4pm. Again, great experience. It was chill and I got a beyond burger, fries and macaroni balls (all of which I recommend). The staff was great this time too. Very kind and interesting to talk to! I am so glad this was my first experience, and I will definitely be coming back when I'm here next! "Some people leave without paying" I get it, so lets treat all the customers like thieves. The service is something you might expect in the second circle of hell. Had a delicious brunch at Branded today! Can't believe it took me this many months to try it. Brussels hash was amazing. And cocktails yummy. The staff was wonderful. They are a real fixture in the neighborhood, with an inclusive spirit and great people. One little girl walking by on the sidewalk said to her friend "that's Branded, we are friends with them!" I had a lot of fun here. It's a very open and unassuming and it was supposed to be (I'm judging) non-judging. The bartender was wonderful it was RuPaul drag night so the place was packed. Another group of patrons that seemed to be regulars were extremely aggressive for their stature but all things considered the night was not about them I had a wonderful time. The food is also spot on at this place. There was also karaoke and kabuki training downstairs. What an eclectic saloon. read more

Have you ever found yourself winning free brunch tickets after tying in trivia and forced to have a dance off, in which you strip, for the win? No?!?! Well then you haven't lived life my friend. Yes I know taking my clothes off was a cheap way to win but times are hard and a free brunch is a free brunch, actually two free brunches. The brunches are great here. Gravy, biscuits, eggs and home fries are my favorite but in all honesty you can't go wrong for brunch. First drink is at menu price but after that it's only a dollar more each one. Bloody Mary's can be made by yourself at the Bloody Mary bar. They also are willing to make screwdrivers for you, if you ask nice. I've been here several times over the years and each time I appreciate the randomness of each encounter. The waiters/bartenders are always really chill and cool. The food is pretty standard bar fare. Recently we came here for brunch since they have $1 mimosa refills. Now THIS, will definitely satisfy my Vitamin Champagne fix. We ordered a bunch of stuff. Like more than we needed, but it actually worked out nicely since we brunched for 3 hours. That's right! We plopped our behinds down on those tables and ate and drank for 3 hours without feeling like the last person at your house party who lurks around and just won't beat it. Again, the food is alright, however being able to sip and talk ish for hours is hard to come by on busy Sunday brunch days in popular neighborhoods. We were extra proud when we asked for 1 final refill after we paid the check. The bartender looked deep into our eyes and souls and told us he couldn't give us more mimosas because we had drank all the champagne. Ladies and gentlemen. This nifty bar in Prospect Heights has creative daring drinks for you risk takers and the atmosphere is great - laid back, but not boringly laid back...you know what I mean jelly bean? The front area has bar seats, tables and booths. They also have your ordinary bar food and TVs broadcasting sports in case your company sucks =]. And wait for it....the back area has live music! However, it's either a hit or miss. The night that I went was a big fat MISS, country music is not my jam (sorry country music fans, but more for you to enjoy?). Overall an awesome bar that I would venture to again and hopefully the live music is a hit next time. read more

For all you Texans out there, they have Lone Star (unfortunately for a whole $5 a bottle). It's also very nicely done in the saloon style, and I always love a bit of Western kitsch in my bars. For all the Hipsters and others drinking on a budget, they do have $2 cans of PBR, which was my drink of choice last Friday night with Colleen L. Our friend, however, ordered Palm for the ridiculous price of $8. And, the bartender shortchanged us by a dollar. No biggie, he just lost a buck out of his tip. All in all, I liked the place. Good vibe. Convenient location for the Prospect Heights crowd. They have a pool table in the downstairs room (which also has wonderful AC!). I think they're still working out a few kinks, so a second go is in order. Worst. Night. Ever. Unless you enjoy being physically assaulted. Tonight we were violently ejected from the bar by the overly aggressive bouncer and we are still struggling to figure out exactly why. Meanwhile, our female friend who received the brunt of the assault is unable to stop sobbing. As a group of pretty straight-laced, borderline-boring adults, it was a definite first for each of us. We paid to reserve the downstairs room for a surprise birthday party which went along swimmingly, with plenty of money spent on drinks and food (all of which seemed to be a pain in the ass for the staff), until the bouncer decided it was time for us to leave so his friends could play pool in a room without gay people in it. At which point he physically grabbed and shoved my female friend up the stairs and out of the bar. What a great night for a bunch of people that frequent this bar regularly! Use with caution. I heard somebody got stabbed here a while back and I used to think it was just a rumor, but now? Not surprised. I don't know anything about saloons and I don't ever plan on going to a saloon again so I guess take my review with a grain of salt if you're an avid saloon-goer. My party of 3 walked and wanted to grab a table to order food. It took a minute to get the bartender to acknowledge us, likely because we didn't immediately pay attention to her very exposed breasts. This is of no slight to her but more to paint a picture of the type of place this is. Not exactly where you want to catch up with friends over a quiet dinner. Once we were finally were helped by a waitress, we ordered an appetizer of fried pickles, a burger, chicken fingers and mac and cheese. Bar food. We are not expecting anything special. As you can tell by what we ordered, we do not have high standards. The fried pickles were nasty. The burger arrived burnt despite being ordered medium-rare, the mac and cheese tasted of the cast iron skillet it was cooked in and the chicken was so salty it could probably be preserved for 15 years without spoiling. TL;DR there's 100 restaurants in this neighborhood so unless you LOVE saloon life go somewhere else. read more
