This may be the headquarters of Brandywine Coffee Roasters (part of the same business as Brew HaHa coffee) but they do not sell a wide range of Brandywine Coffee and the coffee that they serve in the cafe is under the label BrewHaHa. The coffee was fine, staff was friendly, and the space was very comfortable with plenty of seating and tables. As a roaster, Brandywine is amazing. I have ordered their beans many times for me pretty much all home brewing methods (hario, kalita, immersion, batch, and espresso). I am always impressed by the quality of their coffee, their wide range of offerings, and their artwork. But, if you are hoping to visit one of the best roasters in the country and try a variety of different coffees, this is not the place for you. No pour overs, and the espresso and drip coffee were only so-so. Beats Starbucks, Dunkin, and a lot of other coffee shops, but not a worthwhile detour/destination. With coffee, you either "know" or you don't. By that, I mean, there are two types of coffee consumers: Those that will drink anything categorized as coffee and those who are habitués. Coffee addic...I mean aficionados seek out the purest form of caffeine delivery in the spectrum of taste. Spending lots of money on single origin coffee, fancy grinders, and the like is not to get any enhanced caffeine high but it is to unlock discernible flavor profiles. Ask anyone who is familiar with single origin coffee and they probably could taste test a blind pour over and tell which region of Earth from which the fruit originates. Anyway, that aside, where is there to go with coffee purchasing beyond taste? Well, that's where the importance of who exactly is roasting and selling comes into play. Brandywine Coffee Roasters is a perfect example of blending art and taste. The art-part is standout here. I haven't really felt the need to save a coffee bag before and consider hanging on a wall, but it's easy to see why one might want to with the artwork of Todd Purse (local Delaware artist and resident screenprinter). I did some digging and Brandywine roasters actually started as BrewHaHa! and others in the 90s. It and has been around in its current form since 2015. I really enjoyed the bags; they apparently are all done in-house in a printing shop and are hand-printed. Besides the artwork, each bag has traceable detailed information about the coffee within and a wax seal. You can see how cool the artwork is; I picked up a few bags for Halloween. The coffee itself was on par with any other high quality small roaster; the roast is light to medium with a good smooth flavor profile that was mildly fruity but more subtle that I was expecting given the artwork (maybe next time I shouldn't look at horror movie inspired knife while tasting). This review should've been written years ago! Cannot recommend their coffee enough. I've never been to the physical shop but I can tell you I don't need to visit because they've sold me. First sampled their coffee in 2015 in Frederick MD at "Gravel & Grind" which was a coffee/bike shop that brewed & sold their coffee, along with other roasters on the east coast. Sadly they closed in 2017 but I'll forever be grateful for the introduction because over the years I've sporadically bought the coffee online or been fortunate enough to find at other coffee shops from time to time. Fast forward to end of 2020; ordered a holiday batch online and there were shipping snafus; long story short I got impatient and after a few email exchanges, Brandywine exceeded all expectations with their customer service. They've won me over forever. Just made another online order :) Aside from top notch coffee (I'm as picky as they come), their coffee bag art is just amazing. Brandywine Coffee Roasters have a knack for roasting great coffee that stands the mail order test. I saw Brandywine Coffee Roasters mentioned on a number of lists as one of the best roasters in Delaware. I checked out their website and became enamored with them even more because of their coffee bags. Each roast has a hand drawn, specially designed bag by Todd Purse. I purchased my first bag when they ran their Black Lives Matter series early this summer. The proceeds to their Black Lives Matter Roasts were split equally between donations to the NAACP and a local Black initiative or business that one of their roasters selected. I thought I was done with Brandywine for a bit (I like to experience a coffee from the best roasters across the country). But they ran a special Halloween themed club that I just couldn't resist. The club ran for one month and featured seven different coffee roasts (single origin and blends), a shirt, mug, a sample of their coffee powder and a bag of a fall flavored tea. They also loaded their boxes with lots of stickers and Halloween trinkets as well. Every roast I've experienced from Brandywine has been excellent. They have quickly risen to one of my favorite roasters in the entire country. I almost joined in their winter holiday club as well but I resisted. The food and the service was excellent! Fiancé and I were visiting the area for a nice staycation and searched up some coffee spots. We came across Brandywine aka Brew Haha! The cashier was patient with us (it was our first time there) and answered any questions and even offered some recommendations! The Brew Haha latte was definitely a hit! I am blown away by the taste of the finest coffee. I am from san diego and i was looking for some of the finest coffee which led me to this place. I went onto the website and i was reading the rich history between all the different types of flavors. I literally felt like a kid in the candy store undecided which to buy. Because honestly they all souded great. Not only do the y have coffee, but they also have some relly nice tea blends that i purchased for my wife. No matter what your caffeine kick is look no further than brandy and wine. I was undecided so i emailed the staff on which product were theeir favorite. I instantly received a swift response from staff Lydia was extremely helpful in her recommendations. Also the delivery was pretty quick. I went to bed last night gao a message that said it will be here by friday. I was a little upset because i ran out of coffee and i did not want that Starbucks stuff. I woke up this morning and the package already arrived usps super fast. Do you want to purchase high quality, delicious and fun coffee from an amazing small company? Then you need to order from Brandywine Coffee Roasters! Just before Thanksgiving I ordered 3 - 12oz bags of beans. When the coffee arrived the day after Thanksgiving, I received a 12 oz bag of Cosmic Turkey and a 6oz bag of the Ethiopia Delecho - so I sent an email explaining that I was missing some beans. Being a holiday weekend, I expected that I wouldn't hear anything until some time mid-week, but on Sunday Josh emailed me with an apology and a promise to send out the missing coffee on Monday morning. Monday rolls around, and I get an email that the coffee has shipped! All I was expecting was a 6oz and a 12 oz Ethiopia Delecho to account for the missing coffee - but you know what Josh did?
