Our pup loves Dogtopia, and we love how tired she is when she gets home! Instead of running circles…read morearound us and tearing pieces of mail apart while we attempt to relax after work, our 1 year old Goldendoodle lounges on the floor, sleeps through the night, and even lounges around most of the next day because she is so worn out --- and we can go out for dinner/errands without feeling guilty that we're not entertaining her. We've been taking our 1 year old Goldendoodle to daycare 1-2 days per week ($25-$30 per day depending on the package you purchase) and occasionally send her there for boarding ($52 per night with includes full day of daycare). She's always thrilled when we arrive and pulls us into the building, and seems to be running around happily whenever we watch her on Webcam. It's not a particularly impressive building --- small lobby with a few treats/toys for sale and a couple of mostly concrete rooms with a couple ramps/tunnels for the dogs to play in. There is the Romper Room, where the smaller dogs are kept, and the Gym, which seems to be for the bigger dogs. There's an outdoor area for when the weather is nice, and we have found that there's a room attached to the outside that does not appear on camera --- so if you try to watch your dog and you can't seem to find them, that's usually where they are. Yes, the cameras are off on occasion --- they crate the dogs for "naptime" between 12-2pm because the staff need to have a break, too! I also have found that the website shows up like the cameras are off if you are on a computer with firewalls, like at my workplace. And yes, the dogs sometimes smell when they leave. I'm not sure that you can really avoid that when you've got dozens of dogs in a room together on a regularly basis. I will say that they recently switched the spray they use to deodorize the dogs and it's much better than the one they had been using (she used to come home smelling like potpourri from the home of a 90 yr old woman). Also, once, our pup's ear started bleeding after some rough play, and we were called and notified immediately. It was really no big deal as they cleaned her up and we couldn't even find the cut when we got her home, but we appreciated that they made sure we knew what happened and were not left wondering. Overall, we definitely recommend, especially for pups with lots of energy to burn!

Dogtopia failed to keep my dog safe…read more I would give this place a zero if possible. My dog Greta was there for daycare this Tuesday and while watching the webcam I noticed her being persistently and aggressively mounted by another dog. After seeing several failed attempts by the coach to keep him away from my dog and noticing her distress, I decided to have someone pick her up early. At pick up they did not tell us anything. Later we noticed her groin on both sides being severely scratched and a piece of hair and skin scratched off her hip. When talking to the staff, they did an investigation and I sent them pictures and they admitted the other dog had shown this behavior before and is now getting a warning. If I wanted to bring my dog back they would rotate them. So basically punishing my dog for the others aggressive behavior. We took her the vet and was promised a call back by the manager, which two days later has not happened. No follow up or checking how she's doing, a total lack of concern. Stay away from here unless you want your dog under poor supervision.

As we were preparing to leave for a trip to Italy this past Saturday, we received a call from the kennel caring for our dogs informing us that one of our dogs, Alfie, had escaped. What was most surprising was that the purpose of the call seemed to be asking whether Alfie had ever done something like this before. He hadn't. More importantly, one would reasonably expect a kennel to have secure fencing and proper access controls in place to prevent this type of situation from happening in the first place. Anyone who knows Alfie knows he's an incredibly sweet and adorable dog -- but he's certainly not some canine mastermind. He's no Steve McQueen in The Great Escape. The fact that he was able to get out raises serious concerns about the facility's security and procedures. It is now Monday evening, more than 48 hours later, and we still have not received a single call from the owner or management. I don't believe a single incident automatically means a business should be condemned. Mistakes can happen anywhere. But when a business fails to take ownership of a serious event after it occurs, that says a great deal about how they value accountability and customer trust. I sincerely hope no other family has to experience something similar.
