I have been taking my fur babies to this veterinary hospital for almost 8 years now and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff, to date 3 dogs and 1 cat. My shibas both needed luxating patella surgeries which was when I first brought them, throughout the quality of care, during recovery & then end of life, the staff has been nothing more than accommodating, considerate, sympathetic, professional, well taken care of, have been taking my 5 year old Rottie here since he was pup a well as one cat I rescued. They never fail to fit us in if there is an emergency, the grooming service done from the office is wonderful, I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

I took my cat for an emergency appointment they took me same day. The Dr and assistant where very nice and super informative. I never had the education regarding my cats diet and how much I should be feeding her. They did everything in the room so she could stay with me and made her as comfortable as possible. moved to the area this year with an older dog and cat. staff is super friendly, accommodating and patient. the vets i worked with have been helpful answering all of my questions about EVERYTHING- i like to know all the details about what is being recommended and why. no trouble getting convenient appointments. considering some of the attitudes i have encountered since moving here (and i'm coming from south philly!) they are a breath of fresh air. have already recommended them to a friend. read more

Some history: I had been going to this vet for about 12 years with no problems. I have 3, now four cats and the first three had been this vet's patients since they were kittens !2 years, 11 years, and four years old). I am in the process of introducing the fourth to the other three and its not going very well. A fight broke out and my newest cat tore one of my other cat's ears pretty badly. The rip was about as long as the first knuckle of the first finger and so I was very alarmed. I called the vet, explaining the situation. The person on the phone said they would have to ask the vets, who were at lunch at the time, if I could bring her in. She couldn't say yes, because her vaccinations were out of date. I did explain that both cats were indoor cats, and that I did have proof that he was up to date with all of his shots from another vet. They called back after lunch and said that no, they couldn't see her because her shots were out of date. They then suggested a number of other vets that I could contact to get her up to date on those shots and then I could bring her in. I pleaded with them stating that they could give her whatever shots she needed and do whatever they felt they needed to feel safe - My cat's ear looked to me like part of it was dying. Again I was told no - I needed to go elsewhere. What is the point of a vet if you can't go to them when your pet is hurting? Also - the reason the fourth cat's paperwork was from a different vet (the SPCA) is that Brandywine charges between $500-550 to spay or neuter a cat, give them their first exam and get them up to date on all shots and boosters. The SPCA was less than half that. I will never go back to these people. They are really very nice, but they told me to go elsewhere, and so I will. Permanently.T read more

I have been taking my dog Cody (13 yo Cocker Spaniel mix) here for almost 10 years and we really like it. Appointments are easy to make and you get seen on time. All of the receptionists, techs and Doctors we have seen have been very friendly and informative. A few years ago we moved and I switched to a vet closer to my house, but I wasn't happy with level of care so we came back to Brandywine Valley Vet Hospital, even though it is farther away. Dr. Moss operated on our rottweiler, Henry, 5 days ago for a torn ACL ligament (CCL in a dog). I have been very, very impressed with his success record, extremely low infection rate and ability to communicate. Henry is very stable after surgery and appears better every day. Since his other knee was operated on two years ago by another highly respected surgeon, I am even more impressed since I know quite a bit more as an "experienced" customer. For those pets needing ACL (CCL) surgery, it is not inexpensive. But, there is a good amount of regulated hardware used in the surgery (surgeon's fees aside, your paying for medical grade, sterilized hardware that is not inexpensive!). read more

Dr. Moss and his colleagues literally saved our dog's life. Our West Highland Terrier was run over by a truck and his pelvis was separated from his backbone and many bones were shattered. His hind end looked like hamburger. Dr. Moss reconstructed his back end, his staff provided phenomenal care, and our dog has been running around and enjoying his life for the last couple of years as if he never had the accident. Okay, so I'm sure everyone has had it where you try to find the perfect place to take your little ones to the vet, well up until a certain point this was my family's go to place. Now this is out dated but I do feel as though people should see this. So around January 2014 (When we had the constant snowing every week in Chester County and we had like thirty inches by the end) our oldest dog Max was a patient here for awhile up until January when he had a seizure, now they did send one of their doctors out to the house to look at him with my mother and my father had to drive him to their office as per the doctor's orders, when my mother called them, they said they weren't equipped to handle his condition and if we sent him there we would be turned away, I don't understand why there was the sudden lack of communication there. So we had to take him all the way to Malvern Animal Hospital to be examined and treated. We pulled Max away from this place immediately and had him in another vet until he passed away that following September. read more

We have been taking our chihuahua to brandywine vet since she was born a year ago and until now had a great experience with them. As of today they will never get our business or with any luck yours either. One would think that in this line of business there would have to be some empathy or caring. Not with these people. Our dog was spayed a week ago and has had major complications over a week. We brought her exactly when they opened to be sure we in covered in her own blood and no other customers in the waiting room. They looked at us and our dog as we explained this and told us "sorry, we are too busy to help you" and gave us a brochure to a place 40 minutes away. Please stay away from this place! read more

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Moss for over 25 years. He is top notch doctor. His surgical skills are amazing. He has performed operations on several of my dogs. Recently he did a very complicated surgery on one of my dogs. Thank goodness it was a complete success. Dr. Moss always takes the time to explain things thoroughly. He has a great deal of compassion for animals and their owners. read more

I really love taking my dogs here. The staff is always very warm and welcoming and I have never felt rushed with the doctor. I've also never had to wait very long when coming in for an appointment, and they have been able to schedule me at the last minute multiple times. We have been taking our dogs here for the last 4 years and will certainly be taking our new kitten as well. read more

Our dog has aggression towards other dogs and we told the staff about this numerous times on multiple occasions to be upfront and to avoid any issues. We waited in our car with him for about 20 to 30 minutes before his appointment and eventually we were told to come in, so we assumed that the coast was clear, but that was not the case. There were two other dogs in the waiting room area and our dog pretty much immediately went into a fit. It was rather upsetting, because I'm sure the other clients and their dogs were afraid and nervous about our dog (a nearly 100 lb German Shepherd). Once we were in the room with our dog, they decided to take him to the other room to do his bloodwork and vaccinations. The other two times this year when we were there he had ear infections and they had to muzzle him for "their safety" (he doesn't like his ears touched especially when they're sore). He also doesn't like being muzzled, because for one, he can't breath (he's a "mouth breather") and two, he doesn't like it on his face. They decided they needed to muzzle him again this time - even though he was showing no aggression towards the staff. They were unsuccessful in muzzling him and got him all worked up for no apparent reason. We were prescribed antidepressants and anti-seizure medication for him at an earlier visit this year which I was not present for (my fiancé took him alone) and I was not happy about. Our dog has never bitten anyone or any other animals, but he has always shown an aggressiveness on his leash around other dogs and he tends to be high strung in areas where there are lots of scents of other dogs. We did not have an issue the first time going to this veterinarian, but it was a different veterinarian that we saw and she handled our dog appropriately and with dignity which I cannot say is the case at our most recent three appointments with Dr. Vidal. I get the impression that she's unexperienced and that she was afraid of our dog which prevented her from giving him the care he needed. She refuse to vaccinate him at our appointment, so I chose it was best to leave to not waste their time further. It was very disappointing to say the least, because our dog has some hotspots on his groin area that I was concerned about them getting infected. My fiancé had to miss some work in order to help me get our dog to his appointment, because I can't manage him and our small child. Now, I am on the hunt for another veterinarian and this whole ordeal has made me very nervous about that. I would suggest if you have a dog that is at all hyper or aggressive in the slightest, do not go to this vet, because it's not worth the time or stress. read more
