I understand that zoos are controversial. From my perspective, they educate the public about habitat conservation and help protect species from extinction. (Several examples of near-extinct animals live at Brandywine.) This zoo is tiny -- less than five acres -- but worthwhile to visit, with animals I'd never before heard of. I noticed that the pudu, the world's smallest deer, was limping. A sign indicated he was under veterinary care. The only exhibit that disturbed me was the caracal's. The animal continuously paced back and forth, perhaps a sign of boredom and frustration of being caged. (I have memories of Brooklyn's Prospect Park Zoo in the 1960s where majestic tigers and lions were confined in small enclosures exhibiting the same behavior.) Zoos have evolved since my childhood and I'm happy to find merits in each that I've recently visited. The Brandywine has special events of interest to families, and borders the Brandywine Park.

$7 a person. Parking is free across the street. It was on the Sunday we went at least. Small zoo, can see everything in 30 min. The animals they have there are cute, monkey, lemur, porcupine, ant eater. Red pandas. About 4 exhibits weren't operational which was a bummer. I saw they do random events, I think a beer one in May. All in all it was a nice little stroll and we liked to look at the animals. Animals seemed very well taken care of. But don't expect to be awed. Will be fun for kids.

simply ignored us. After weeks of waiting and looking forward to this experience, it turned out to be frustrating and extremely disappointing. I am a neurodivergent person, and situations like this affect me deeply. It's not just about the money, it's about the lack of transparency and consideration for visitors. I strongly recommend the zoo to be honest in their advertising and improve their organization, because as it is now, it only creates disappointment and feels like they are playing with people's expectations

It's a nook of a zoo. Cute, clean, cozy. You aren't walking too long and overwhelmed with things to take in. I think it's perfect for toddlers or younger children. I took my one year old on a Saturday around 12pm, it wasn't crowded, which was a plus. There were a few empty exhibits but I guess that's to be expected. We got to see some different animals. The cutest by far was the Red Panda! My son definitely enjoyed himself (I could tell by his ooo's and pointing). At $9 for adult tickets we may be visiting again when he can engage a little more. Oh and they had this cute little log play area and an amphitheater. The parking area has a great picnic area on one side. On the other side a body of water with some rocks you can sit on. In sum it's worth it, have a little outing go see some animals enjoy the fresh air!

The zoo is VERY small. I knew it was small going into it but I've been to small zoos and this is again, VERY small. The admission was $7 per person which isn't bad. It took me about an hour to go thru because I did stop and watch all the animals. If you kind of just take a peek at each animal, you maybe will be there about 30 minutes. My favorite exhibit was the lemurs mixed the turtles, that was just adorable. The staff was nice, lots of parking but overall it was just okay, nothing more nothing less.

Come for the capybara, stay for the lemurs. My son's been wanting to see a capybara for a long time so we decided to take a little trip to Wilmington. This zoo is ADORABLE! Yes, it's small, but unlike at larger zoos you can actually spend a good amount of time looking at the animals instead of glimpsing them for a few seconds in a crowd of people before giving someone else a chance. There's plenty of shade, lots of friendly staff members, the animals look very happy and it actually smells nice and fresh. Also, free parking! We all agreed it was a much better zoo experience than we've had in the past. Very clean and relaxed and uncrowded.

The bald eagles were very patriotic.

A small zoo, that basically fits all along one short walkway. You can walk it in an hour tops if you stop at each exhibit. If not, it'll probably take less than an hour. The Snack Bar seems to close pretty early on weekdays but is very inexpensive. The pudus just had a baby pudu on July 13th (according to the sign). Family-friendly spot. The bald eagles were very patriotic. Buy your tickets there rather than in advance. The Brandywine Zoo charges a $1 fee per person for booking in advance online.

I love this little local zoo! It's perfect to bring your little kids for the day or a few hours or even just an hour. It's very kid friendly and very cheap. You/the kids can pet the African pygmy goats! (hand sanitizer is provided). During its off months which I believe are Dec-Feb admission is free but they still keep tally of visitors. (Also since it's free off season they have many animals off exhibit and the gift shop and snack bar may not be open.) Parking is free and plentiful. I love zoos, and my fiancé and I have been here multiple times during multiple seasons. The gift shop is small and has some cute stuffed animal souvenirs, bags, toys and other chachkies. And if you're really tight with your "pennies" they have a souvenir penny press machine right outside at the gift shop door. Although very small, you can see some amazing animals live and not just on TV here; for example the largest flying bird the Andean Condor, good ole yet majestic American Bald eagles, golden lion tamarins, and more. I'm not sure if the tiger is still there but he/she was beautiful, and hopefully happy and healthy in a bigger sanctuary. My favorite part of this quaint zoo is the river otters and watching them constantly slide down their little water slide. Unfortunately, this last time we visited there was a sign that "something new is coming" and "Clark" one of the otters were now transferred to another zoo. I will miss seeing my favorite animal but I look forward to what will replace them. I would say if you're in the area and have some spare time even 30 min, stop by. I'm so happy this zoo is so close to my home and open year round(check hours online). If you do plan to visit, check out their website for family fun events they may be having! Cannot wait to bring my little niece here when she visits.

Admission is $15 and id say it was reasonable for the 4ish hours we spent. My kids loved the climbing/sliding cocoon that is at the front area upon arrival. The roadway with scooters was unique having never seen that at a children's museum before. The fitness exhibits with basketball and baseball were fun. Those tests at the beginning brought me back to the Presidential Fitness test era (IYKYK). The water play area probably was where we spent the most time, but that's always where we do at museums with a water play area. Another cool feature was the hollowed out redwood tree for climbing. The sections toward the back are designed for the youngest visitors but still have some fun stuff-like a mock farmers market and tire shop- for older kids. While there were no events on this day, it does look like they are listed as they come up on the website. Also, no food sold here (snacks are chips and candy) but there are two places across from the building to eat or you can BYO. While it is a smaller children's museum, it was still nicely done and we would definitely pop in again!

Kids can enjoy a reading nook, a mechanic shop, basketball, and pitching speed tests. There's also a mini-golf area on the boardwalk behind the museum. With scenic walking trails, an outdoor classroom, day camps and a small indoor animal habitat, Briar Bush is a great spot for small children, couples on a date, or anyone looking for a brief respite from the urgency of the modern world. With free admission for locals and a small fee for out-of-towners, the preserve is accessible to all patrons provided that they are able to walk down some wooded trails that circle through the admittedly short walking routes. The centerpiece of the trails is a picturesque, secluded pond with benches for sitting and an interactive sign with information on the local fauna and flora. The indoor animal habitat has a small gift shop, pamphlets on upcoming events and information on other parks in the area, and several interesting animals such as a blind possum named Odin, a bearded lizard named Karl, and several other unique turtles and reptiles. All of Briar Bush can be walked through in an hour or so, but the low admission, interactive nature events and scenic walking trails will have you wanting to return again soon.

Rose Bridge is a sanctuary and working farm on land once owned by William Penn. Since 2013, the farm has become a 'forever home' for over 300 animals. Many of the animals are rescues from dairy farms, livestock auctions or other scenarios where they were at risk. They have several different activities, we opted for the Farm Fest, which combined several of the activities. The Farm Fest includes a mini farm animal husbandry tour, baby animal cuddling time, hands on craft activity, a beverage bar and an outdoor fire pit. It lasts about 2 hours. There were many parents there with children, but also adults like us by themselves. There are two times - 4-6 and 6:30-8:30. We went on the 4:00 tour. It was great! It was very interesting hearing how the animals came to the farm - it was so heartwarming to hear the stories of saving so many animals. However, I wasn't expecting the 'cuddling time' to be so much fun. We started with the goats - so friendly! They were nuzzling and 'pawing' us - I sat down and several came to me and wanted to be rubbed or held. I even had an opportunity to feed a baby goat its milk bottle! We interacted with pigs, sheep, a beautiful thoroughbred horse and a donkey! It was a very special experience! Afterwards we all went to a large barn and made crafts - specifically little planters we decorated, added dirt and seeds (large selection of flowers and vegetables seeds) to take home as a little souvenir. We had a dinner reservation so we left before the fire pit activity. Overall, it was a wonderful experience to be with these farm animals and to support such a worthwhile project.
