I understand that zoos are controversial. From my perspective, they educate the public about habitat conservation and help protect species from extinction. (Several examples of near-extinct animals live at Brandywine.) This zoo is tiny -- less than five acres -- but worthwhile to visit, with animals I'd never before heard of. I noticed that the pudu, the world's smallest deer, was limping. A sign indicated he was under veterinary care. The only exhibit that disturbed me was the caracal's. The animal continuously paced back and forth, perhaps a sign of boredom and frustration of being caged. (I have memories of Brooklyn's Prospect Park Zoo in the 1960s where majestic tigers and lions were confined in small enclosures exhibiting the same behavior.) Zoos have evolved since my childhood and I'm happy to find merits in each that I've recently visited. The Brandywine has special events of interest to families, and borders the Brandywine Park.

$7 a person. Parking is free across the street. It was on the Sunday we went at least. Small zoo, can see everything in 30 min. The animals they have there are cute, monkey, lemur, porcupine, ant eater. Red pandas. About 4 exhibits weren't operational which was a bummer. I saw they do random events, I think a beer one in May. All in all it was a nice little stroll and we liked to look at the animals. Animals seemed very well taken care of. But don't expect to be awed. Will be fun for kids.

simply ignored us. After weeks of waiting and looking forward to this experience, it turned out to be frustrating and extremely disappointing. I am a neurodivergent person, and situations like this affect me deeply. It's not just about the money, it's about the lack of transparency and consideration for visitors. I strongly recommend the zoo to be honest in their advertising and improve their organization, because as it is now, it only creates disappointment and feels like they are playing with people's expectations

It's a nook of a zoo. Cute, clean, cozy. You aren't walking too long and overwhelmed with things to take in. I think it's perfect for toddlers or younger children. I took my one year old on a Saturday around 12pm, it wasn't crowded, which was a plus. There were a few empty exhibits but I guess that's to be expected. We got to see some different animals. The cutest by far was the Red Panda! My son definitely enjoyed himself (I could tell by his ooo's and pointing). At $9 for adult tickets we may be visiting again when he can engage a little more. Oh and they had this cute little log play area and an amphitheater. The parking area has a great picnic area on one side. On the other side a body of water with some rocks you can sit on. In sum it's worth it, have a little outing go see some animals enjoy the fresh air!

The zoo is VERY small. I knew it was small going into it but I've been to small zoos and this is again, VERY small. The admission was $7 per person which isn't bad. It took me about an hour to go thru because I did stop and watch all the animals. If you kind of just take a peek at each animal, you maybe will be there about 30 minutes. My favorite exhibit was the lemurs mixed the turtles, that was just adorable. The staff was nice, lots of parking but overall it was just okay, nothing more nothing less.

The bald eagles were very patriotic.

A small zoo, that basically fits all along one short walkway. You can walk it in an hour tops if you stop at each exhibit. If not, it'll probably take less than an hour. The Snack Bar seems to close pretty early on weekdays but is very inexpensive. The pudus just had a baby pudu on July 13th (according to the sign). Family-friendly spot. The bald eagles were very patriotic. Buy your tickets there rather than in advance. The Brandywine Zoo charges a $1 fee per person for booking in advance online.

Come for the capybara, stay for the lemurs. My son's been wanting to see a capybara for a long time so we decided to take a little trip to Wilmington. This zoo is ADORABLE! Yes, it's small, but unlike at larger zoos you can actually spend a good amount of time looking at the animals instead of glimpsing them for a few seconds in a crowd of people before giving someone else a chance. There's plenty of shade, lots of friendly staff members, the animals look very happy and it actually smells nice and fresh. Also, free parking! We all agreed it was a much better zoo experience than we've had in the past. Very clean and relaxed and uncrowded.

Was a fun little stop, spent like 30 minutes. The zoo is very small, but the park around it was nice as well. About 50% of the animals were out, half of those asleep half running around having a good time. Just go in knowing it is small, would recomend, animals seemed happy.

Rose Bridge is a sanctuary and working farm on land once owned by William Penn. Since 2013, the farm has become a 'forever home' for over 300 animals. Many of the animals are rescues from dairy farms, livestock auctions or other scenarios where they were at risk. They have several different activities, we opted for the Farm Fest, which combined several of the activities. The Farm Fest includes a mini farm animal husbandry tour, baby animal cuddling time, hands on craft activity, a beverage bar and an outdoor fire pit. It lasts about 2 hours. There were many parents there with children, but also adults like us by themselves. There are two times - 4-6 and 6:30-8:30. We went on the 4:00 tour. It was great! It was very interesting hearing how the animals came to the farm - it was so heartwarming to hear the stories of saving so many animals. However, I wasn't expecting the 'cuddling time' to be so much fun. We started with the goats - so friendly! They were nuzzling and 'pawing' us - I sat down and several came to me and wanted to be rubbed or held. I even had an opportunity to feed a baby goat its milk bottle! We interacted with pigs, sheep, a beautiful thoroughbred horse and a donkey! It was a very special experience! Afterwards we all went to a large barn and made crafts - specifically little planters we decorated, added dirt and seeds (large selection of flowers and vegetables seeds) to take home as a little souvenir. We had a dinner reservation so we left before the fire pit activity. Overall, it was a wonderful experience to be with these farm animals and to support such a worthwhile project.

We had prepaid tickets and spent quite a while on hold trying to find an open route before finally making it. Parking is easy - $10 for the whole day (and the waterfront is really lovely to walk along, and only a short walk from there to the USS New Jersey battleship). Lines move along quickly to get us in and they took our CityPass and got us our wristbands. Positives: -Lots of different things to experience. Some spaces are a little more kid-oriented, including a pirate search as walking through different mini exhibits. -There is a cool area where you can talk to scuba divers as they work in the big tank. -The rope walk over the shark tank. It's so secure you never feel any danger of falling in, but it is cool to walk over open tank. Child #3 loved this. -The shark tunnel where you are underwater and able to see all the animals swimming around you. -Plenty of bathrooms in each area, all with a clean changing station. -IMAX level movie theater with movies every hour. -Lots of interactive displays. Negatives: -The whole aquarium feels a little fragmented, like spokes on a wheel, which required a lot of backtracking if we wanted to go see a different section of the aquarium. -There are two touch tank areas, including a very large room which can easily fit over 100 people but only one sink to wash up after handling rays and other marine life. Overall decent place to take the family and experience the beauty of our oceans!

One thing I really appreciate about the zoo is that you don't necessarily see every animal every time you visit. At first that might seem disappointing, but I actually think it's a good thing. The animals have spaces where they can get away from the crowds and have some privacy instead of being on display 24/7. The animals all looked healthy and well cared for, and I love the way the zoo is designed around them. They even have tunnels and bridges that let the animals cross above and around visitors, so you sometimes get these really cool up-close views from unexpected places. I also learned from a 52 Firsts event that Philadelphia Zoo was the first zoo in the United States! So technically I'm standing in some serious zoo history. They also have a petting zoo with goats and sheep, and they were all incredibly chill and friendly. Definitely a fun area for kids. And it's not just animals. The zoo hosts all kinds of events and cultural celebrations throughout the year. I happened to stumble across the Odunde celebration during one visit and it was such a lovely surprise. There are always things happening in the less animal-focused areas, so there's usually something extra going on. The volunteer staff are also wonderful. You can tell a lot of them genuinely enjoy being there, and everyone I interacted with was so sweet and happy to help. Overall, I always have a great time here. It's a little expensive, but between the animals, the history, the events, and how well everything seems cared for, I think it's worth the visit.

Philadelphia Zoo has done a lot, improving the living spaces for the animals, since the less humane cages. As amazing as it is that Philadelphia Zoo is America's first one, also on the grounds of the zoo is The Solitude Mansion - a late 18th Century residence apparently built by William Penn's son, John Penn. Who knew? There is so much to see and enjoy at the Philadelphia Zoo! Can't wait to come back more sooner than later! Recommend you check it out!
