We have stayed here a couple times now over the last few years and the experience is always great. The staff is wonderful, attentive and go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay. The grounds, rooms and facilities are always clean and inviting. The heated pool and hot tub are amazing for relaxing. They also offer evening socials as well as breakfast. Very close to the main drag and right in the middle of everything you could want within walking distance. If you don't want to walk, or you just want to explore, they do have bikes you can check out and use. The Brass Key Guest House is always our go-to when we come to town. read more

My partner and I decided on a whim to go to Provincetown for a night. We booked a room at the brass key guest house. We had a wonderful room which was large and clean, huge bathroom and a deck. The staff were friendly and willing to help anyway, that they could. The location is perfect for P town. The king size bed was soooo comfortable!! The brass key is affiliated with the crown point which offered free breakfast of almost anything you wanted. They also offered free wine and cheese party at 5. The shipwrecked bar is attached as well. Also a fun spot to hang out in front of the nice fireplace and have a couple of drinks and relax on their comfortable couches.the entire place and staff are amazing. We will definitely go again. I found this hotel just by looking up different places to stay in the area. I honestly have never heard of this place or even been here before. I figured I would just give this place a chance, and the look of it was just classy and beautiful. I wanted to upgrade our room to a nicer one with a fireplace, so we can be cozy and have romantic late nights together in our room. It was disappointing that our fireplace wasn't working. Our room was definitely comfortable and homey with plenty of natural light. We were a bit concerned with our shower after using it. A loud noise does start up 10 minutes after taking a shower. Turns out it's just the cleaning itself so there's no buildup of water. Which explains that horrible noise, so I recommend not taking late night showers because that noise stays on for quite a while. Our first night here we just dropped our stuff off in our room and went downstairs where there is a bar you can go hang out at. We instantly were befriended by so many amazing locals and guests. We were definitely surprised with how friendly everyone is. We ended up hanging out for quite a bit with plenty of cocktails and fun conversations. So, this hotel is surprisingly a lot bigger than I thought. They even have a rooftop lounge area that apparently people are known to tan nude up there. It's a spot to be if you don't want tan lines. The pool is heated and large enough to have plenty of people. The hot tub was probably the largest hot tub that I have ever been in. Sometimes those smaller hot tubs get a bit uncomfortable if only a few other people were in it. Here you can definitely spread out in and not over here other peoples conversations. Hint hint to the rude females that were on the other side of the hot tub who felt the need to contribute their attitude towards our conversation. Get over yourself and get yourself a helmet if you're too sensitive. The location of this hotel was right next to the main street where everything is at, and just as close to the water. I woke up each morning and took a walk up and down the street with a cup of coffee. We came in October to celebrate our anniversary, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend renting a bike and taking a bike ride around the island. Two amazing pluses with staying at this hotel is that breakfast is included and they do have a happy hour every day that has free wine and appetizers. Definitely stock up on that wine drinking because it is very expensive to go out in this town. Overall, I only have the best things to say about staying here and this gorgeous little town. I honestly found this place just by looking at the map and pointing to a spot and going for it. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made when planning a trip. read more

We went for two nights before Memorial Day weekend, which just so happened to be one of the biggest nor'easters to hit the cape in a long time. The first night we stayed in a queen room that was over the Shipwreck lounge. The noise from the lounge was a little annoying and we asked for another room. The staff was VERY accommodating and moved us to a beautiful king room on the pool. It was handled very promptly and professionally, which we really appreciated. The rooms here are immaculate and very nice. Beds are comfortable with great pillows. The nightly wine and cheese is a welcome bonus to your stay and free breakfast was a great start to your day in Ptown. Every member of the staff was friendly and made our stay better. With all of the rain and wind from the storm, it was challenging to shop and explore, but there seemed to be an unlimited supply of umbrellas for guests to use. The Brass Key is one of the finest accommodations in Provincetown, and will be our go to from this point forward. What an amazing place! We stayed here only one night and wish it had been longer. The staff is welcoming, attentive and happy to assist guests. The room was really charming, and the bathroom was modern and fully updated. The pool is rather small, but it didn't look overly crowded. Wine and cheese is served at 5 and it was gone way before 6, but we managed to grab a nice glass of wine and enjoy the lovely outdoor space. We didn't care much for the breakfast options and went somewhere else, but it was ok. Parking is limited though, so when we grabbed a spot we didn't move the car and walked everywhere- which worked great in Ptown anyway! read more

Whatever other places you are looking at right now for hotel accommodations just STOP! This is the only place you need to stay if you are visiting Ptown. I have been to Ptown before and I only wish I had known of this place earlier. The property was just incredible. And the staff even more incredible. We were going back and forth with Patrick the AGM via email before we booked and we couldn't have been happier. We had asked for a last minute upgrade and he took great care of us with a poolside room and balcony! He did gave us the best places to hit (bars/restaurants/shopping) while we were out and about. The staff is world-class! ALL OF THEM. We couldn't have stayed at a more accommodating place. The rooms themselves were spacious and very well maintained. The wine/cheese hour daily was very relaxing and our complementary breakfast had everything under the sun on it that tasted ever so delicious. The heated pool and hot-tub were the perfect temperature. The Brass Key is super centrally located and only a three minute walk away from the main drag. The hotel was quit and secluded enough that you don't even realize you are downtown. The bar is the lobby has a super cool vibe and the drinks are so freaking refreshing. I highly recommend the Brass Key in Provincetown. I booked a long holiday for Memorial Day weekend (checking in Friday and out Tuesday). My room was next to the pool so I had lots of sun and a nice view of the deck. The Brass Key offers a full breakfast which is a great way to start your day in Ptown. The staff - Tyler, Patrick, and everyone else is very responsive and accommodating. There is also a small bar attached to the Brass Key called the Shipwreck Lounge with a low key vibe and cute bartenders. On top of everything else the pool and hot tub are a great way to relax, and there are many small areas around the hotel deck with comfy outdoor chairs to relax for a nap or to read a book. The Brass Key was a truly wonderful place to stay in PTown. You made this trip such an enjoyable memory! I would have a hard time staying anywhere else. It really feels more like a bed and breakfast. They strive to make all your requests perfect upon arrival. Rick greeted us, promptly showed us the beautiful hotel grounds, and our room. He was a wonderful host. The rooms are quiet, gorgeous, bright, and impeccably clean. The grounds are absolutely lovely! The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The pool and hot tub are wonderful. We spent a lot of time here and made a ton of new friends. Oh, don't forget to head up to the observation deck for a beautiful view of PTown. Steve the bartender at the pool is a doll! He pours a fantastic drink and a great person to get to know! Frank is a great guy too! They are always quick to refill your drink and bring out samples! They have a simple continental breakfast which is fresh and convenient especially after a long night! Love the wine and cheese happy hour it's a nice touch! Unfortunately, the only thing that remains the same about the Brass Key since it has been purchased is their name. As someone who has been staying at the Brass Key for years, I take no pleasure in writing the below. The changes became evident as soon as we arrived at check-in, as they no longer have anyone managing the front desk. You are required to call on a desk phone & wait for an individual to arrive. This is the same process you must do, anytime you need anything during your stay. They also did not offer anyone to help bring our luggage to the room. None of this has ever occurred before. The reduction in services continues in all parts of your stay. Pool towels are no longer readily available as early as 8:30AM, sometimes for over an hour. This is now blamed on not wanting to disturb guests with noise from the washer/dryer. In addition, not once in over a week did anyone clean-up the pool area during the day. None of this has ever occurred before. Guests are lucky if their room receives housekeeping and when they do it may not be until 4PM. We found out the hard way on Saturday night that housekeeping also no longer replaces toiletries unless you ask, even when the shower gel & mouthwash are empty. In addition, even if you request housekeeping at 12PM & then again at 1:45PM, they will not get to your room until 3PM. None of this has ever occurred before. High-speed WIFI is also no longer available; forcing guests to find cafes with suitable WIFI to use during their stay. This is now blamed on the Brass Key's location & provider. Something that never was an issue before. Breakfasts have been reduced to something you would find at a roadside motel. Some days the only hot item you were given were eggs & barely cooked potatoes (no bacon...no sausage). With the last muffin available at 8:40AM, as they are not replaced. Even though breakfast is served from 8AM - 10AM. None of this has ever occurred before. Safes are no longer available in all their rooms (including ours). Resulting in guests being forced to leave all their valuables completely unprotected. Something that never occurred before. Lastly, they no longer oversee their own parking lots; instead directing guests to park at the near-by lot at $25 a night. Something that never occurred before. When you are spending around $600 a night, you do not expect the lack of services we experienced. I really hope they bring back the Brass Key that we all know & love, as there is only so long they can survive on the reputation the Brass Key has established before guests no longer want to return. read more

He was very accommodating and it was a little challenging because my dog travels with us. The rooms were worth every penny. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. COVID offers challenges but they were all handled with grace and ease. The morning breakfast was very good. If you skip the muffins you are making a huge mistake, they are excellent, so kudos to the chef. Afternoons by the pool with cocktails made the day for us. Have been visiting Provincetown for about 4 years now and always enjoy staying at the Brass Key. Key reasons - pun intended, centrally located, free parking, nice pool, large hot tub for chilly nights to soak those muscles, and the wine and cheese hour at 5pm every night is fantastic. I would rather relax by the pool on a hot day instead of drudging to the boat slip if I were to lodge at a facility with out a pool. Some of the rooms have queen beds some have king, just decide when booking. The only thing I noticed was the WiFi could be a tad slow. The staff has always been great, never really had an issue other than when they had new cleaning staff and noticed long hairs in the shower, we complained and they took care of the issue right away, which was pleasing. The continental breakfast is your average breakfast with hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels, and a hot option too, hey it's summer trying to maintain your pool bod. If you would rather have have eggs, home fries etc, there are a ton of options in town. Plenty of coffee and water all day long. They also serve cookies /chilled lemonade by the pool during the summer months. As for the evening, the Shipwreck Lounge is a nice hot spot right on the grounds, which gets busy and serves good drinks, plenty of seating with a fire pit and large waterfall. read more

I am sure this property is nice--but the management certainly is anything but. For me customer service is everything, and I think it is important for people to know that if anything goes wrong, you cannot count on these people to care or do anything to help. They really just don't care. I was planning to stay at the Brass Key and then found out that my favorite aunt had passed away from cancer and I had to leave to go to Chicago. Because I was within the 21 day cancellation period, they told me that my $215 deposit would be FORFEITED. The fact is that the Brass Key still had other rooms open, so they did not have to turn people away because this room was booked prior to my cancellation. Still, they decided to pocket every cent of my deposit. I could not believe this. No partial refund, no credit... not even a small discount towards my next stay. They just took my money. There was absolutely no compassion or willingness to work with me on anything. I had saved for this trip and this kind of money is something I cannot waste. I had just lost a VERY close relative...and this is the email I received from them: Quote from Erin their guest services manager: "The person who passed away wasn't even your partner or spouse yet you want me to bend over back words and make a deal with you so you don't loose out. I am sorry for your loss of a friend but that has nothing to do with me or the way I run this business. As for the cancellation information it is written in the same print as these emails, which you don't seem to be having a hard time reading and it is right under all your reservation information, not at the bottom like you claim. Again I am sorry for your loss and that you are unhappy with the outcome of this, please note that I am considering this matter closed." I am sorry, but it is pure greed to keep my every cent of my deposit, when I didn't even get the free gourmet breakfast, have to have maid service or anything. The least they could have done was given me a partial credit. This is the type of management you are dealing with if you stay there. Be warned. read more

Very fabulous hotel. This is one of those hotels that looks picture perfect in a brochure, and when you show up, it actually looks just like the pictures. The hotel seems to be kept in pretty top condition. Our room--though small--was very well appointed. The bathroom only had a shower, but it was a really nice (brand new?) Kohler shower (I think the majority of their rooms have full baths, some both bath/shower, we just happened to book the cheapest rate they had). The bathroom products were great. The bed was super comfortable. They have a very nice happy hour every night where you can meet other visitors. Free wine, cheese, etc. The pool is the center of the courtyard, with lots of lounge chairs filled with gays everywhere. The hot tub area is rather large. There's an "observation deck" on top of one of the buildings where you can see out to the bay, it's clothing optional up there if you're into that. They don't have room service for food, but there is wine in the room and they have a menu that you can order wine from as if it were room service. The breakfast is the only complaint I could make of the place. Everything else is relatively upscale, but the food they serve at breakfast is just garbage food. You can't get a jam/jelly without HFCS in it. Jiffy peanut butter. (Also, a lady who was getting coffee told us to smell her coffee, then the milk, and we all agreed the milk they had out was spoiled. The twinky who was handling the breakfast service said the milk was just put out and thought it smelled normal. He put new out and it smelled the same, like rotten milk. Me thinks the refrigerator was unplugged at some point). Perception is everything, and it just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the joint. The hotel staff was very nice every time we encountered them. Free wifi. Free parking (though it seemed to get really full). The main lobby area has a bar with a piano in it, which at night opens to the public as well. The rates here are a bit pricey for some of their rooms, but we booked the cheapest they had and it was pretty reasonable. Definitely a nice place to stay at, and in a great location! read more

Brass Key is great! It walks the fine line between "hotel" and "B & B" - it's personal without being nosy, cute without being kitchy, and social without being cloying. We stayed in a room in the Gatehouse with a fireplace and the wall-jet shower. We showed up a little before check-in time and they let us right up and showed us how to push all the buttons and work all the gadgets. We went for a wander down commercial street, had lunch, shopped more, and then went back for the complimentary wine and cheese hour. I was not really planning on going-- but there was actually more than just one red and one white-- they actually had 5 or 6 bottles of wine and a couple varieties of beer. We snacked and chatted with another couple staying there, it was really nice. After dinner out, we settled back into our room to enjoy a snuggle in front of the fireplace. The bed was cozy, the linens were clean smelling and soft, the fireplace was cute. The one thing I will say is that the fireplace is on a timer and it ticks loudly...so during quiet moments you wonder periodically if you're paying by the hour or if there's a pipe bomb in the bedside table or something. In the morning, we went to the "expanded continental breakfast" which left something to be desired...yogurt, bagels, muffins, OJ, milk, hard-boiled eggs, and cheerios. Meh. Overall it was a good experience, but don't go for the food. read more

On a whim, my boyfriend and I decided to take a short trip to Provincetown. We had a fantastic time, and I must say the Brass Key played a prominent role in our enjoyment. We arrived around noon (3 hours early for check-in) and they let us leave our car in their lot while we waited for the room to be made up. Grateful to not have to scramble for on-street parking, we decided to take a stroll down Commercial Street. Before leaving, they asked us for our cell number so they could call us when our room was ready (I found this to be a lovely gesture). Sun shining, smell of sea salt in the air, we set off for Commercial...and 30 seconds later there we were! So incredibly close to most of the main attractions!! Pilgrim Monument was maybe 3 streets over! After hours of walking around window shopping/people watching it was such a relief to hobble back such a short distance. The room (131 I believe) was impeccably clean, and very comfortably furnished. Bose players in the room were a nice plus. Wine & cheese hour was fantastic. We took full advantage of the free-flowing wine and even beer (canned Heineken and Amstel light). The jacuzzi was nice for a relaxing pre-dinner soak, and we enjoyed how beautiful the property looks lit up at night. There is, however, room for improvement. The breakfast was...pretty awful. They have a latte/cappuccino machine which spits out toxic looking greenish-brown liquid. And the taste did nothing to dispel that notion. Weak selection of pastries, mostly sweet and nothing savory. Blah jellies and jams, only 3 kinds of cereal and sad bagels. The milk comes out of another of their machines, and tastes just as bad. The bananas were nice. That's about it. Despite breakfast being pretty lame, we most certainly enjoyed our stay and next time we're in P-town we'll gladly return to the Brass Key. The staff seemed happy, friendly and eager to help. I personally don't like the how-was-your-day-tell-me-everything-about-yourself-ness of a lot of B&B staff, so I was pleased with the Brass Key's friendly but not in-your-face demeanor. We payed less than $150 for a queen bed, cozy room, great atmosphere, and premium location. Can't go wrong with that. read more

Absolutely beautiful This is more like a mini resort. The building wraps around the main grounds which consist of a pool, small patios and a hot tub. The way the landscaping is done you always feel like you have the place to yourself. The rooms are all different and priced as so. every detail is perfect and well maintained. They do have 5 day minimums during the summer season so make sure you plan to drop some coin if you are looking to stay here. Joe is the best host in Ptown. This is by far the best hotel in town. Unfortunately you have to pay for the quality if service they provide. But of course. They have a great breakfast. They have a relaxing pool. The guests are nice although some are ridiculously tedious and high maintenance. The bar is friendly and relaxing. I'd stay all summer and winter if I could. We've stayed here a couple of times and have always enjoyed ourselves. This place provides and environment where it's easy and comfortable to meet the other guest and make new friends. The staff is VERY helpful and friendly and will do what ever they can to make your stay a great one. The rooms we've stayed in have always been nice clean. The pool area is also great and you have very nice signs in your room reminding you that you can't reserve a chair early in the morning and then not use it until 2pm. The sign simply reminds you that any unattended items on chairs will be removed after one hour and you can claim it at the front desk. I appreciate this because I've stayed at other places where people take their books down at 7am and then don't arrive until noon. The trick to booking your room here: Book it early and be prepared for the price. You get what you pay for here. This year, 2009, they started a bar in their lobby/fire pit area. Book a room as far away from this as possible! We heard some guest complaining about the noise level and there are rooms that are directly above this. They serve until 1:00-1:30am. The great thing about the bar is you can get a drink and with your room key, you can enjoy the hot tub until 11pm. We will absolutely stay here again. read more

The Brass Key is a true oasis in Provincetown! The staff is friendly and attentive, the rooms are comfortable and well-kept, and the location is central to just about everything. The hotel's real selling point, however, are the grounds. Each of the hotel's buildings surrounds a beautiful courtyard with a pool and large hot tub. Whereas most Ptwon hotels are stuffed into converted houses, the open space at the Brass Key really makes you feel like you're in your own sanctuary. It doesn't get any better. The only downside to the hotel is the price, which can get quite expensive during the high-season. However, given everything that you get, the high prices are somewhat justified. Going during the down season can still be fun and relaxing at just a fraction of the cost - which is what we did. read more

This place was incredible. People talk a lot about location and amenities; I'm here to talk about the staff. The staff was so accommodating. It was a group of 30+ of us and they made sure our stay was wonderful and unforgettable. Anything we needed they either had it or told us how to get it. They provided us with suggestions and recommendations on things to do and places to eat. Even though it was very cold outside they always were accommodating and had the hot tub open for us. Our group was hanging out late one night and suddenly we all got hungry. One of the staff members, Scott, helped us order pizza and it was delivered right to the room we were all hanging out in; who knew getting 30+ adults to agree on one thing would be so easy. I'd also like to thank Beverly, she is one of the staff members responsible for room upkeep. She was so kind and had a smile on her face. I would give this Inn/Resort 6 Stars if I could! Every year it gets better. The staff and owners make everyone feel welcome and create an atmosphere of camaraderie and relaxation throughout the day. The rooms, grounds, pool, and hot tub are meticulously maintained and you can tell that they are investing yearly into the property. I just got back and this year they had an entire super powerful Wifi system through the resort. They are always renovating rooms, grounds, bathrooms etc. Finally, the best service --- and I've stayed at the finest hotels all over the world. They really do everything possible to make your stay amazing. read more

I started going to the Brass Key in 1998 and hadn't been back in a while. Let me start by saying that overall it's still well maintained and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately what's changed is the party atmosphere that stretches from the club/bar they added in front to the all-night jacuzzi scene that was going strong at 3 AM and kept me awake most of the night. Nobody should pay $400+/night for that kind of experience unless you want to be up all night with the boys. read more

I travel extensively and understand completely how cancelations work. I booked a reservation through a 3rd party and needed to cancel due to the hospitalization of my father. I called the 3rd party and explained my situation they completely understood and told me they would reached out to Tom, the owner of the Brass Key, while i was put on hold. The 3rd party informed me that Tom would not honor the cancelation and for the record I was not in violation of the cancelation policy. I was am being charged for the stay. When I called the property I spoke with a smug man named Ken. Ken condescendingly explained he was the manager and Tom was not there and did not make the decisions. When I tried to explain that the 3rd party had just spoken to Tom, Ken raised his voice yelling that 'i need to understand the policy', he then hung up on me. I am a business owner and understand the importance of customers. Ken doesn't understand that I travel to Provincetown almost every weekend during the summer months. Hanging up on me probably wasn't in the Brass Keys Guest House's best interest. Ken undermined his Boss and his customers all before 9 am on a Monday in the beginning of June. If you want a pleasant experience, don't deal with the Brass Key or Ken. Tom, you may want to have a chat with your Manager and explain the importance of listening to customers. read more
