My wife and I visited Provincetown and decided to stay at The Anchor Inn and Beach House on Commercial Street. What a great experience. The inn sits on the West End of town in a fantastic location for easy access to restaurants and nightlife. We were greeted by Annie, the Innkeeper, at the front desk in the large cozy lobby. She could not have been more accommodating. While we were checking in we were also greeted by Michael the owner. He was very welcoming and introduced us to Maye, the yellow lab and mascot of the inn. She was very sweet as well. We were shown to our room that was large spacious and had great views of Provincetown Harbor. We also had a balcony and a gas fireplace! The room was bright , clean and very comfortable. The bed and linens were top notch. I have to mention the HUGE front porch along the front of the inn on Commercial Street. What a great hang out for coffee, cocktails and people watching! My favorite spot. I highly recommend staying here and experiencing P-Town from this great spot. read more

I wish I could give them more than five stars, because it's easily the best place that we've ever stayed. It's homey enough with fantastic customer service by Chris and Michael, but not claustrophobic like you're staying in a guest room of someone's home. The view is spectacular! read more

We had a very enjoyable one night stay in room 119 at the Anchor Inn. We enjoyed the balcony over looking commercial street and the view of Pilgrim monument, as well as the ocean. The jet bathtub and gas fireplace were amazing! Comfy bed, linens and towels were soft and upscale and the room was very clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We were a bit disappointed with the room needing repairs. The arm chair had a beach towel covering it and was stained badly underneath and ripped as well. Backsplash for the tub needed caulking. Sad to see such a beautiful house lacking attention and improvements. read more

Perfect location, clean and beautiful Inn, the ocean view from my room was nothing short of spectacular, Michael and his Mom are helpful and sweet hosts. I loved seeing the dogs in the lobby. It's a laid back atmosphere here, but I like that. Their continental breakfast MAYBE could be a bit more interesting, but there is a coffee shop/bakery right across the street and many restaurants within short walking distance. This is our favorite place to stay in Provincetown. It's conveniently located on Commercial Street, so everything is just a short walk. The rooms on the back give great views of the water, and the rooms in front are great for people watching, parade watching, etc. We usually stay in the back and spend time on the rockers out front on the porch to get the best of both worlds. Chris and Michael are always very accommodating and helpful to make your stay enjoyable. Their super friendly chocolate labs Molly and Bo are the welcome wagon to great you when you check in. We've been staying here for about 6 years now and definitely recommend it! read more

My favorite place to stay in Provincetown! Immaculate, well appointed rooms, cozy. Enjoyed sitting on the porch having drinks and relaxing with the beautiful breeze coming off of the ocean. Before bed, I sat outside on my deck overlooking the ocean and the fresh ocean air was exactly what I needed to get me to sleep. Walking distance to everything! read more

We loved everything about this place. We went in the offseason (February), for a quiet getaway. Beautiful jacuzzi tub, working fireplace with a control right by the bed, and dimmers on nearly all the lights. Our four poster bed and other furniture created a lovely ambiance. The view from the windows is either of the adorable downtown area or the cape. Another guest told me some rooms even have little port holes to look at the cape from the jacuzzi tub! There were double doors in our room out to a beautiful patio with chairs, but of course we didn't use it in February. The breakfast was a little light, but they put out fresh pumpkin bread and coffee so I was happy. Downtown is within walking distanced, including multiple great restaurants within a quarter mile! The owners were really friendly. They do have a few labs who are sometimes in the lobby. They are extremely sweet (and I'm not a huge dog person), but I suppose if you are allergic asking them about the dogs might not be a bad idea. (They seemed to come and go so I don't know how often they are there, or how free they are to roam.) read more

Went on a last-minute trip to Provincetown off-season (April), and we're so glad we lucked into getting a room here! The views were magnificent, and the room was really fantastic-- jacuzzi tub, fireplace, sitting area, etc. The location on Commercial Street can't be beat, and a lot of the shops and restaurants were already open for the season. The rooms are bright and cheery, heated and cooled individually (and with individual controls) and are spotlessly clean. Where to start? Noisy (our room was an echo chamber), small (a boxy-room with a tiny closet, one small chair, no desk or table..), outdated (the gas 'fireplace' looked used and abused, the small television was pre-flat screen with a limited choice of fuzzy stations) and though clean was in bad shape (light switches broken, the shower door nearly off its hinges). Then it got worse. We were there for two nights, including New Year's Eve - just us two, a kind of romantic but Covid-conscious get-away, in lieu of our traditional small group of friends cocktails and appetizers NYEve. We understood (or expected) that many venues would be closed, or their operations modified because of the Pandemic, but that was fine with us, as we would be taking extra precautions as well. Overall P-Town had it under control: the downtown was a 'mandatory mask' zone, most stores were closed, and those that were open had made a concerted and often very creative effort to adapt with safety in mind. Our NYEve dinner was a positive case in point: "Sal's" had taken over another venue and offered what they called a 'pop-up' take out experience that included, on this night, an elaborate box dinner with cocktails, flowers, dessert, and more, around large 'family-style' offerings of creative entrees. We picked up our dinner just after 6 and brought it back to our room and had a kind of picnic on the bed - as there were no chairs, tables, or space for dinner beside the bed. To do this though we had to walk through the lobby of the hotel, which on the main floor is adjacent to all of the rooms (ours was at the back, with a small balcony, off a short hallway that services two other rooms) and pass through a gantlet of six friends (including the manager I believe) who filled the chairs and couches there. They were under control - in terms of noise - and it was relatively early, so the concern for the atmosphere (the spread of water vapor from conversations and laughter) was not enough to dissuade me from walking through the area - though it was concerning and seemed, to me at least, be something the management would discourage, not participate in. Once we had dinner in the room though, there was a changing of the guard: the friends of the manager left, I believe, and were replaced by several couples, most of whom were obviously drunk and - unless they had been trained for the opera - could not have been louder. Their voices weren't musical however (though they turned a radio in the lobby way up), but hysterical. One woman literally howled for the next 5 hours and when you could make out what she was saying, it was usually something vulgar. Her companion tried to quiet her, but it was no use. Around 9 there were fireworks - right behind the hotel: bottle rockets that exploded near our balcony, over and over. The howling, the blasting, the music; it was so loud that, when we tried to watch TV to drown out their noise, it didn't work. They were louder than the loudest our television would go - and they were in the lobby. We would have liked to go outside at midnight, but that would have meant a likely confrontation, and exposure to their un-masked vocalizations. We felt prisoners in our own room. We called the hotel - our own hotel - but no one picked up. In a real hotel, management would not have allowed any of this. In a competently run hotel, the shower door would be fixed, the broken light switches repaired, the guests informed of the proper way to conduct themselves at this particular moment in time. All around them businesses were displaying great sensitivity and creativity in regards to the pandemic, but not the Anchor Hotel. Over $200 a night for a tiny, tattered, noisy room - with a balcony - and an indifferent host. Until this place has been sold, the interior redesigned, and the Pandemic defeated, I'd suggest you look elsewhere if you want to stay the night in this, otherwise, fascinating town. Postscript: looking over the Yelp info for this 'hotel' I don't see any picture of the kind of room we had: the pics are all of larger, far more spacious rooms. I received a Groupon on May 17, 2015 advertising 54% off stays at this B&B for this "summer" so I decided to check things out... I soon realized that there was a "CATCH" in order to get those low advertised rate I'd have to pack right away since I could only stay there from May18th to the May 21st, after which, the rates "all summer" were higher than those advertised low rates... This kind of promotion is lousy and deceiving in my opinion...I feel like they baited me in with the promise of low rates but switch to the higher prices after the next 3 days and through the rest of the summer. Interestingly, the rate chart on their website is dated 2013; What's up with that? read more

Cute place but after finding out how much it would normally cost I don't think its worth the money. A little old fashioned but clean. Just a heads up to anyone allergic to animals...there are dogs that either live there or are there during the day. Did not mention that in the Groupon or on the website. read more

Came by for one night to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, must say it was a great stay! Although it was a tad chilly, we still enjoyed the room, the view and especially the Jacuzzi :) The gentlemen that own the beach house are very nice and down to earth. Great place to stay in P-Town, right at the beginning of all the action. Close to tons of shops & restaurants. Friendly staff, nicely decorated. Room, esp the shower, was kind of small. Need to be over 6' to reach shelf for soap & shampoo. Shower floor was so slippery, had to ask for mat which took a while to get but was cheerfully given. Screws were missing from shower drain & it kept sliding all over shower. Standing toilet paper holder was broken, kept falling over. These items were not fixed while we were there but were we only there for 2 nights. Great bed & pillows. I wasn't expecting to get an ocean/bay view with our coupon but we did. View was beautiful & I'd stay there again. read more

This was our 3rd stay at Anchor Inn Beach House and we didn't want to leave! The location is perfect, the rooms pristine. The owners Michael, Chris and their Staff couldn't be more friendly or accommodating. We have stayed in 3 different rooms since we started staying at the Anchor and they're all gorgeous and immaculate. We've had ocean side rooms with amazing views as well as commercial street side rooms with views of the action on commercial street. You can't go wrong either way. You can't beat the location. The well behaved labs that greet you are the icing on the cake - there is nothing like being greeting by a beautiful, sweet lab lounging on the gorgeous open front porch. Since we were celebrating my 50th birthday we had hoped to stay a full week but couldn't get the room for the dates we needed so the first half of our week we had to spend elsewhere which only made the high quality of the Anchor more apparent. Nice place at a great location...but don't leave anything behind! I left a new bathing suit and flip flops in the closet. I called about an hour later after leaving and asked to have them returned, indicating that I would pay for the shipping. I was assured that the items would be returned or I would be contacted. Neither happened. After 2 additional calls, which were not returned, I finally heard from the owner a month later. He said he would look through the "bag of clothes" and send them if found. That never happened. I won't be staying there again. read more

I bought a Groupon to stay here becasue I always wanted to come to Cape Cod and my husband and I are always looking for a weekend away. We've stayed at a lot of Bed & Breakfast places and love them and even though this is more of an Inn I couldnt say no to the location and beauty of the home! We arrived and already I was blown away by the home and the location! After checking in and getting settled I read some reviews on the place and although I have to agree with some of the complaints, I feel like they are either being really picky or we just care more about the place and location itself. The breakfast is very minimal but if I'm only in Cape Cod for a weekend I'm not filling my belly with that breakfast anyway...I'm going down the street to get a lobster omelette! The owners dogs are the sweetest things! Should they list on the website they have dogs? Yes, but if I have any kind of allergy, I would always ask or tell owner before booking anyway. The dogs hair was on the carpet and etc but really? They are dogs, they shed and the maid service cleaned and vacummed everyday. Brush it off and enjoy your vacation! So many more little complaints that you can read but if you dwell on all that little stuff your the one ruining your vacation! The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful reccomending places to eat and drink, our room was on the top floor with a balcony facing the water and was amazing!!! Definetly reccomend a stay here! read more
