The service was very slow. We were on our way to the airport and I began to get very antsy. Water glasses weren't refilled unless asked when waitress finally came with the food. We had a variety of items-sandwich, burger, wrap and wings. All were well received. I had the wings which were different from most and delicious. Ambiance is typical semi dark bar. My job takes me to a lot of different places. I was lucky enough to get placed in Monroe, MI for two weeks. Brass Monkey has absolutely been the highlight. The staff here is very friendly, and the food does not disappoint! The ambiance is nice too, and fitting for crowds of all ages. There's a pretty wide variety of options, and everything I've had has been great. Pricing is good. The entire staff was great. Special shout out to Amber who remembered me after my first visit and always made me feel welcome, whether she was serving me or not. Hannah was also a great bartender with a helpful attitude and consistently made great cocktails. Katie was a great server with a good attitude and was very personable. There aren't many places I've experienced in my travels that I would go out of the way to return to; BUT, Brass Monkey is an exception. I can't wait to come back. read more

I went for lunch yesterday, as I do every week, I love "wine wed"! Halaina was the bartender and server. There was only one table occupied and they were enjoying their lunch. I came in and sat at the bar. I waited for 7 minutes before she came out to wait on me. She brought me a glass of wine but no water or a napkin. I had to ask for them after she came back out front again. She was cordial but not very friendly. I had to ask for my second glass of wine in which she forgot to get me, so I waited until she came out again and reminded her. I'm not used to this kind of service here so I was very disappointed. Horrible experience! Waited 40 minutes for the wrong pizzas. They were busy, I understood the wait. When I explained they were both wrong the "Manager" took both pizzas from the table (instead of leaving them or even apologizing) offered to charge me for the wrong order and make a new one. When I asked what she was going to do with the LONG delayed wrong order she said they would "put them in the break room for employees". She then told me she'd make them correctly and it would "only take 5 minutes we're busy" but for some reason it took 40 minutes the first time? Pizza is usually great but this was a sad joke. The monkey fingers are the most delicate, tender chicken tenders you can possibly be served. Delicious! You can build your own salad, build your own American style burger, or even choose something off adjoining restaurant's menu- Quatro's! Save room for the Monkey Bites or the Monkey Bread (if it's not sold out!) It is the perfect finish to an amazing meal. Small salad served 1 to 2, large salad served 3 to 4, didn't try the burgers. Pretzel was tasty as an appetizer. Among the best pizza in Monroe. 1/1 Stars - Price to Quality Ratio - Good food for ~$11 per person. Overall 5/5 Stars. Will be back again. The only caveat, the restaurant is not baby friendly right now. Calamari were little, but expertly flash fried PLUS BRUSCHETTA TOPPINGS AND CAPERS!!! Unctuous. Signature burger was ayight. Upscale Big Mac. Tasty. Maybe season the meat or season differently?? Superb fries!!! The Michigan Salad represented the State of Michigan MUCH BETTER than that football team they have there.. (Oh shut up.... My son went to O-State..) Listen, there's normally not a pizza I don't fancy, HOWEVER, the Funky Monkey was so bad! Maybe I just don't like truffle like I thought I did, but it was definitely not something I would ever recommend. It's a floppy thin crust pizza too which I find odd as floppy and thin crust don't typically go hand in hand. Our Martinis were served over ice and in mason jars, which tripped us out a bit. The goat cheese balls were super good but cold, but honestly definitely tasty. The sign on the Brass Monkey logo / door says "pizza, pretzels, and shenanigans" but there was only one pretzel option on the menu (Bavarian pretzel appetizer) Was a very meh experience for us. UPDATE: Very disappointed with the "new" pizza Brass Monkey is putting out. As you can see from my previous review it use to be mouthwatering andI craved it. Since the last review new owners took over and we were excited to try them again as they seemed to have big ideas! However, the pizza was almost flavorless, the dough was so plain and there was way too much crust. We would be willing to try again, however we won't have high hopes. We also got a burger, unfortunately I don't remember what it was called but WOW. Honestly the best burger I've had in Monroe. The burger was great and the fries were ok, just a bit much for me. Very cheesy with steak bits. The menu is quite limited. Burgers and pizza. We didn't have the pizza but heard it's not American style pizza. More of a thin crust Sicilian type. The restaurant is attached to another restaurant next door. Southern Yankee. Had a wonderful dinner on the patio with friends . There were 14 in our group and we all arrived at staggered intervals and ordered in the same manner. We requested they bring as ready as some of us eat slow ( mainly because I like to have conversations) I ordered a large salad with chicken thinking it wouldn't really be that large , I sure was wrong . The salad came in a large family size serving bowl . Now I love my salads and even I was beat by the salads size. The freshness and taste of everything in the salad as well as the dressing was terrific . I only finished about a third of it and took the rest home . Because I didn't put the dressing all over the salad ( I knew I wasn't going to finish even half of it ) I was able to have some for the next day at lunch and as a side again for dinner. The salad was still all fresh and crispy. It was a great dinner experience and the staff were on top of replacing drinks and checking to see if anyone needed anything . Wanted to give it a try, stopped in on a Sunday, almost empty inside. Ordered a large two topping pizza, just two of us eating. Pizza came out on a rectangular pan so the round pizza was hanging off to one side. Hint, if you're going for a different look at least make sure the food fits on the serving dish. So the pizza comes and gets placed where neither of us could reach it, the waitress then leaves to finally get us plates and napkins since we didn't have any, and yep, she placed them out of reach again, not even kidding. Now to the pizza, a large pizza and it was cut twice so there were only 4 pieces. What if there were three people eating? The pizza was just ok, nothing special, the bacon was kinda rubbery. And the price, yeah $16 for that size pizza, four slices, with so so toppings, I can see why they are going out of business again. I will say the best part was the crust, really good. read more
