This is a friendly local diner with wonderful broasted chicken at reasonable prices. I order the 4 piece dinner with broasted potatoes and ask for a side of sour cream. It's a perfect combination of cool sour cream with hot, fluffy potato wedges. I haven't been as impressed with other things on the menu, but they are ok. The nachos are a generous serving and the club sandwich uses Dearborn Brand meat product. The service is always friendly and attentive and the food comes out quickly while it is still hot. THIS HAPPENED ON APR 20th, 2026 So I would write five stars for the food but however the service was terrible! I walked in to greet my family for a nice day of brunch or so I thought. As I was walking in there, there was a lady working there with short brown hair and a blue/black jacket on (I have no idea what her name is but she was an older lady who was my waitress) she happened to be in my way and I tried to maneuver around her so she just bumped into me as I was walking to the table and she SAW me coming and trying not to bump into her and I smiled and understood it was possibly a misunderstanding and no hard feelings. So I just walk to the table to sit down and greet my family. Then I find out rudely that she was their waitress when she came up to the table my family was at by bumping into ME forcing the touch on my shoulders not even saying sorry and gave me and my family a nasty attitude the rest of the time we were there. If anyone wants to eat there... DON'T unless this lady gets fired for putting her hands on me very rudely without talking to me about it she does that. Since the food is great though, I recommend just getting it ordered for takeout. DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR SIT DOWN WITH THAT ATTITUDE. NO ONE SHOULD EVER PUT THEIR HANDS ON SOMEONE LIKE THAT PERIOD. read more

It was 44'F outside, must have been 30'F inside. The 3 employees were 'bigger' people . ALL the customers were wearing coats. AND I could feel that the air was on. Not heat, AC. Love this local restaurant! Was so sad when I saw they were closing. Then they got bought and kept the same menu and recipes! They have some of the best soups I have had, always excited when they have cream of asparagus or cream of broccoli. Their various menu items are very good, haven't had a bad meal. One of their desserts is the best ever. You'll have to find out which one, they sell out of it a lot so I don't want to name which one. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Awesome home style food, friendly servers, large portions. Clean with an Americana theme. Good variety of choices on the menu. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some good homestyle food. Came back for breakfast the next morning. Tried the blueberry pancakes and sausage. Delicious! My husband tried the big breakfast and said it was delicious but couldn't eat all of it. Prices are not too bad either. read more

My husband and I stopped in this morning for breakfast and had a Great meal and amazing customer service. The dining room was close to full, the wait staff were running non stop, the kitchen staff were handing orders out the one right after the other. The staff maintain continued with smiles on their faces and made sure each customer was treated kindly. The food was the best . In a time when restaurants our struggling to keep staff and the level of professionalism is out the window, we so appreciated Brenda's employees. Stopped in last Saturday for lunch and give them a try. We were not really impressed. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with fries. Also tried the chicken noodle soup. We waited about 5 minutes and flagged down the waitress for our soup. She said she had completely forgot, in just 5 minutes. Then she got our soup and it looked very pleasing but did not taste as well as it looked. Would not order again. Then we received our burgers. They were a 1/2 lb burger on a pretzel bun. Here again the seasonings were not great but ok. Now for the fries, they were the best part of the meal. There were extremely tasty, just like Checker's fries. These I would have again. But with only one item pleasing, I don't think we will be back. read more

Brenda worked tirelessly for years to build a faithful customer base by treating our neighbors like family. The new owner couldn't care less about our community. Brenda's clientele is primarily elders. They do not have a senior menu & splitting a meal will cost you $1.50 for the plate. The famous chocolate cake is no longer made by Brenda & now costs $6/piece. The "homemade"pie is bought at Gordon's for $8 & sold $5/slice. The broasted chicken used to come with soup or salad but that choice now costs $1.50. If you want to add 10 blueberries to your pancakes that will be an additional $1.50. Need a little extra gravy? $3! Want lettuce on your kids burger? $1 a tomato? Another $1. They are understaffed & overpriced! You will wait 20/30 minutes for your to go & STILL need to check your bag because things will be forgotten. They have good servers but unfortunately work them to the point of exhaustion with 12 hour shifts. I worked for Ms. Brenda for years & it's absolutely heartbreaking watching this business get ran into the ground by an inexperienced owner who verbally abuses his staff!! read more

Brenda's near Toledo was not the same place I remembered. (Inside joke for Toledo natives) Arrived on a weeknight around 6 and got the last available table. The menu has plenty of items but at a place like this, stick to the specials. I had the chicken fried steak and my friend chose the meatloaf after a starter of onion rings. Ate here with my wife and in-laws. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the prices very reasonable. I ordered the half italian grinder and it was huge and tasty! My wife ordered pancakes and the in-laws had liver and onions (not something I would eat hehe). Overall it was a great experience. read more

Used to be really good. Went to walk in to see table availability. The Fat waitress was going inside as she just handed someone a take out order. I'm sure it was the fastest she has moved in a long time (she must have had a desert waiting for her). Nearly knocked me down. Was there a fire u needed to get to? So got inside, had a table so now we r at table. Grandma waitress was quick on the drink order but SLOW on returning for food order. FINALLY she decided to take our order. 2 of our orders included fries. Got the food. Oh they have seasoned fries, what an unpleasant surprise. Didn't mention that on menu. Our children's meal included a drink, guess she didn't know that. Asked her about this. She acted surprised. Saw someone else with regular fries. Asked her about that. 'Yes we have both types of fries but its not on the menu'. I said well thanks for asking us what we preferred since I can't read minds'. I think that made her mad. Burger was ok, chicken was basic. Neither was as good as before. And before they just gave u regular fries so never was an issue. All in all, basic food that has gotten worse since previous trips. Sadly, we won't be back. Not wanting to try my luck again with the elephant stampede and just not worth it. Another small restaurant bites the dust for lowering the bar. Brenda's food is excellent, home-style dining at its best. Great service by friendly staff. I can't say enough good things about the food: the portions are excellent, their specials are also delicious and the food from the standard menu is always fixed in the same way, so you know what to expect. And then there are the desserts. If you want the best chocolate cake you've ever eaten, be sure to order it. But it will probably take you more than one sitting to eat it all. read more

The special was advertised throughout the restaurant, so I decided to try it out. The chicken tasted prepackaged then deep fried, the ceasar dressing was so bland that I had to salt my salad. Couldn't eat it and when the waitress asked how everything was, I told her about the lack of taste in my $8.99 salad. She said, "huh, I'm sorry. This is the last day of it, so..." And nothing more. Just took my full plate of food away and offered nothing more to make it better. The item was still on our bill, and not another word was said. We will not be returning. read more
