3.5 I've been to Bedford Coney Island multiple times over the years. It is a comfortable and clean diner atmosphere located within a strip mall next to an Asian restaurant and near a Little Caesars takeout. Today I was there for brunch and brought along my laptop and lots of work that I'd hoped to get done while there. After ordering a Spinach and Feta Omelette, I asked for the WiFi password and was told they don't have WiFi available for customers. Ok, so much for my work plans. Ugh. My omelette arrived fairly quickly and I also ate it quickly because I had work to do. The omelette was overall delicious. I will say, however, that the ingredients were not evenly distributed within the omelette. For instance, the tomatoes and onions were on one side, the spinach and feta weren't evenly mixed together and there were parts of the omelette that had no filling at all. The home fries were good, but I had to seek out ketchup from another table (rather than wait for my server to check on me). The coffee has never been the best but the main entree generally makes up for it. The value was decent and I'd recommend for a casual meal in a clean setting. read more

Service was very slow and nothing came out together. Sausage gravy NOT homemade nor tasty. Partners country scramble was hard fried scramble. Halfway through finally got his toast. I got chefs special, ordered eggs medium when I got them and the whites pooled around the yolks. My toast sat on the counter with no heat for a min of five minutes, I watched it! The potatoes were half hard and dry. Breakfast did come with entertainment. There was a young boy sitting at the singles counter he was very distracting. He was climbing in the sea, kicking his legs out in the aisle feet in the seat it was in nobody bothered to correct him. read more

I was meeting a friend and arrived early. I was given menus and water quickly. After my friend arrived, we chatted. Then service was most efficient. Waitress was able to describe the dishes accurately. The food was wonderful and as described. There was A LOT of food on each of our plates - an omelette and a breakfast wrap. Flavors were good; food was hot. Prices were very reasonable. We weren't rushed and able to eat at a comfortable pace as we chatted and caught up on our doings. My wife and I were in Michigan and we figured let us finally see what a Coney Dog is all about. So I read the reviews on this place and generally seemed really good. So we both ordered the Detroit style hot dog platters with fries and salad. First off the wait for our food was ridiculous. After about 15 minutes we finally got our little salads. I don't think it should have taken that long to get salad. Then about five minutes later we got our "main course". Maybe I'm missing something, but all we got was a hot dog, which the hot dog itself was a really good quality in our opinion, with a little bit of chili sauce and a couple of pieces of diced raw onion. So in other words and forgive my obliviousness, a Coney Dog is basically a chili dog. And the french fries we got were soggy. I knew a Coney Dog add chili onions mustard and a few other bells and whistles on it, or so I thought. A 20-minute wait for this was kind of strange, especially since it seemed like the restaurant was well staffed and about two-thirds full of customers. Our server was very nice and attentive and I don't blame her for the lack of service in the kitchen. I am figuring next time we are in Michigan we'll go to a different place that specializes in Coney's, as opposed to a general diner that serves them. read more

Super cute restaurant! I was driving by lost in Ohio :-) and it caught my eye. Everyone there was super friendly and hotdogs were amazing :-) The Entire menu is served all day so for me who hates breakfast at 10 AM to have hotdogs and french fries was an added bonus :-) read more

cakes and pies were wonderful. Dining room was nice and clean. Service was prompt. Menu was different from the implied theme of the restaurant. I think menu is geared more towards Mediterranean food or Greek food. I love Greek food however when I came in and sat down my tastebuds were anticipating finding a Coney Island dog, a chili dog or a Chicago style dog or even a polish sandwich on rye Or something or perhaps a Philly cheese steak. I've been coming here since moving to Michigan. I like that it's Locally/Family owned and the staff are very friendly, even to us Floridians. I stop in for breakfast 2/3 times a week and it's always good and fast. Prices are great but the friendliness of the staff is top notch read more

The other day I was making the long drive to southeast Michigan to drop some presents off under the family Christmas tree. Not having slept in the last thirty hours my mind was a bit foggy when I first heard a rumbling in belly. Bleary eyed, I quickly took note of my surroundings. Fast Food? Nah! Grocery Store? Negative. Liquor Store? Maybe... No, there was driving to be done. It was then that the clouds in the sky parted for, but a moment, releasing a solitary beam of sunlight onto Bedford Coney Island. Now, I am not a religious person, but they say it is best that one does not ignore these things. I pulled into the parking lot. As I walked, bleary eyed, into the establishment I took note of a few things. Firstly, this place was pretty clean. Secondly, it was larger inside than I had originally suspected. Lastly, this place was damn busy. I steeled myself for what might be a moderate wait by the "Please wait to be seated" sign. I was wrong about the wait, in less than half a moment a waitress zipped up to me and welcomed to me to the diner and directed me to my seat. My coffee was on my table almost before I ordered it. I confess I did not peruse the entire menu, but it was fairly large and seemed to consist of your typical Coney Island fare. I asked my waitress what she would recommend and placed that order. While enjoying my coffee during the short wait for my food, I took notice of the restaurant patrons. Old, young, families, people recovering from hangovers, the waitstaff daftly zipped from table to table fulfilling orders and engaging in friendly small talk. It looked so..... exhausting. When my spinach and feta omelet arrived it was delicious as it was generous in proportion. I was unable to finish enjoying it due to the limitations of my stomach's size. Coffee refills came almost as soon as I took the last sip, and after several cups, I began to believe that my friendly waitress must possess clairvoyant abilities that the CIA could use more than Bedford Coney Island. As it turns out, she just had a system, and the system was good. There is nothing remarkable or quirky about the Bedford Coney Island. There are not walls covered with Mark Twain quotes like like the Double Eagle Coney Island in Ypsilanti. Nor will you find the quint 1950's style decor or Abe's Coney Island in the same city either. What you will find is quality food, reasonable prices, and a fast and friendly waitstaff. As Lavar Burton would say, "But you don't have to take my word for it!" If you ever find yourself in the Lambertville area, or even just cruising past it on US 23, take a detour to this little gem, you won't regret it. read more

My family eats here occasionally because the food is good and priced affordably. However during our last visit, our waitress could have done a better job. There were three servers and five tables seated..not busy at all. We sat down and it took the waitress 10 minutes to acknowledge us. Once we ordered, our food came fast but our waitress never came back to ask if everything tasted OK...because she was busy on the phone (not taking an order). Then she sat down at an empty table to eat. Another server came over to clear some dishes from our table, only then did our waitress come over to ask if we needed anything. I recommend the food, but think this waitress needs to be more attentive to her customers. read more

I have been here twice. The first we ate breakfast food and it was very good. Today we tried the Detroit dogs and spinach pie I am in love with the pie! I went into Coney Island the other day expecting "typical" Coney Island food... Not only did I find myself waiting for quite some time to get a refill.. But also ketchup, and other items... Gyro breakfast is pretty good. Encountered a very rude server. Corned beef hash a total rip off smashed thin layer of hash for a whopping $6 and includes no potatoes. When I asked if this was the normal serving they said yes. I would not recommend ordering it if your hungry. read more

I ordered cole slaw with my chicken gyro wrap and when the cole slaw came I noticed there was still part of the packaging that the cole slaw had come in buried in my food. Discovered this restaurant on one of our trips to Kroger across the street. We have fallen in love with the great service and the outstanding food. The gyro meat is always juicy no matter if you get in the morning with breakfest or at night with dinner. I enjoy the French onion soup. My wife really enjoys the hot roast beef sandwich and another of her favorites is the Gyro Salad. The Chili Mac is good as well. Portions are really good size and the prices are really reasonable. THE menu provides a ton of options and we have never had anything that has been not outstanding. The service is always super friendly and very prompt. read more

Not a huge fan, the decor is outdated but thats so minimal for the actual issues at this coney island.. I ordered spaghetti the last time I was there and found not only a parmasan packet but a piece of lettuce under the sauce!! We told the owner and she still said we had to pay for it. I then paid in full for spghetti I will not eat...waitress was nice but owner should have taken it off our bill... I normally just find hair but im done finding things in my food. read more

Tom M. the other patron who posted a review is correct. Let me add that at least 90% of the time you will be greeted with a good morning, hello, etc. as soon as you walk in the door. And have a nice day or the like when you are departing is the norm as well. The waitstaff is very friendly and help each other out to make your visit a pleasurable one. The owners definitely run a good business and are there a lot so that is terrifc as well. Tom is correct in stating that the restaurant is clean as well. And the food is very consistent so you know what you are getting. I too normally have a doggy box when I leave and not just because my dogs like the food too. Generous servings so enjoy yourself. When we had the power outage a couple of years back and for several days in a row, these people saved the day. They worked hard to keep everyone's moral up. The restaurant was packed most of the day. The owners, the cooks and the waitresses worked hard to do everything they could to make things better for us. Another time I was aware that another of the local restaurants was going to be closed on a Saturday morning as a new transformer was being installed at their place. I was not a regular patron there at the time but I stopped and talked to the owner around 7:30 PM on a Friday night to ask her if she was aware that the other restaurant was going to be closed in the morning. Well she was not. They would have been slammed. They got on the phone and scheduled extra people to work so that everyone would be happy. The next time the owner saw me in there, she thanked me profusely and said everything worked out. Anyway stop in and check it out for yourself. You will be glad you do. read more

My wife & I have been there a handful of times since moving to the area. We dine out a few times a week. Service- The service is great! Every server we had was very fast & friendly. Price- Definitely affordable. Hey! It's a coney island. You're not going to break your wallet. Food- This is where they lost me. Every item we got had either spent too much time in the freezer, the microwave, or a combination of the two. The coney dogs had that "Hey, the cook nuked me too long" soggy/hard bun. I'm jealous of all the good reviews and experiences with this place in comparison to mine. I don't eat here often but I will probably never again. My service was terrible! My waitress got my appetizer wrong to start. I asked for hummus without the pita, she brought me back just pita, no hummus. I thought maybe she was going back to get the rest of the dish but never returned. That would have blown over with me as long as I had the Veggies and hummus, I just wouldn't eat the pita. So she finally comes back to the table and I explain what happened and she fixed it. Then takes our order and we waited for 45 minutes ! I over heard another worker questioning a carry out order that was never picked up. IT WAS MY ORDER! We sat and patiently waited and were ignored by our server which is why my order sat up front and we got our food so late. I took a few bites of my burger and it was gross and dry. When I went to cash out I asked for a refund and my waitress told me I should have said something to her at the table. I would have if she came by more than twice! They gave me .75 cents off my order. I do not complain often when I go out because I run a restaurant so I understand the stresses but my service sucked and my food sucked and the customer service was terrible. read more

We drive from east Toledo to eat there, it's that good. Don't think that all they have is fried food because it's a hamburger/diner kind of place. Their hummos and grilled chicken platter is what brings us there. It's called the Bedford Special and indeed it is. There are also other Mediterranean dishes and soups. The service is good. Love the clean, classic American (with other foods), great restaurant, eating amongst the many loyal locals that patronize this fine little restaurant, friendly and very hard-working, busy, yet very courteous staff, music, televisions, and great food, especially the awesome national city dogs, grandparents love the place, but remember to speak up when ordering, such as a platter, in case the server might not hear you, even if they ask more than once, and make sure you are sure what you are ordering, (might have said platter, thought I did, but might not have, I could be the mistaken one) as what may or may not have happened when I ordered today. Hope to visit again soon and upgrade my rating to the five stars I know this restaurant deserves. read more
