Super cute restaurant! I was driving by lost in Ohio :-) and it caught my eye. Everyone there was super friendly and hotdogs were amazing :-) The Entire menu is served all day so for me who hates breakfast at 10 AM to have hotdogs and french fries was an added bonus :-)

The other day I was making the long drive to southeast Michigan to drop some presents off under the family Christmas tree. Not having slept in the last thirty hours my mind was a bit foggy when I first heard a rumbling in belly. Bleary eyed, I quickly took note of my surroundings. Fast Food? Nah! Grocery Store? Negative. Liquor Store? Maybe... No, there was driving to be done. It was then that the clouds in the sky parted for, but a moment, releasing a solitary beam of sunlight onto Bedford Coney Island. Now, I am not a religious person, but they say it is best that one does not ignore these things. I pulled into the parking lot. As I walked, bleary eyed, into the establishment I took note of a few things. Firstly, this place was pretty clean. Secondly, it was larger inside than I had originally suspected. Lastly, this place was damn busy. I steeled myself for what might be a moderate wait by the "Please wait to be seated" sign. I was wrong about the wait, in less than half a moment a waitress zipped up to me and welcomed to me to the diner and directed me to my seat. My coffee was on my table almost before I ordered it. I confess I did not peruse the entire menu, but it was fairly large and seemed to consist of your typical Coney Island fare. I asked my waitress what she would recommend and placed that order. While enjoying my coffee during the short wait for my food, I took notice of the restaurant patrons. Old, young, families, people recovering from hangovers, the waitstaff daftly zipped from table to table fulfilling orders and engaging in friendly small talk. It looked so..... exhausting. When my spinach and feta omelet arrived it was delicious as it was generous in proportion. I was unable to finish enjoying it due to the limitations of my stomach's size. Coffee refills came almost as soon as I took the last sip, and after several cups, I began to believe that my friendly waitress must possess clairvoyant abilities that the CIA could use more than Bedford Coney Island. As it turns out, she just had a system, and the system was good. There is nothing remarkable or quirky about the Bedford Coney Island. There are not walls covered with Mark Twain quotes like like the Double Eagle Coney Island in Ypsilanti. Nor will you find the quint 1950's style decor or Abe's Coney Island in the same city either. What you will find is quality food, reasonable prices, and a fast and friendly waitstaff. As Lavar Burton would say, "But you don't have to take my word for it!" If you ever find yourself in the Lambertville area, or even just cruising past it on US 23, take a detour to this little gem, you won't regret it.

House special partly eaten and in the back was the Greek skillet was also excellent.

I have been here twice. The first we ate breakfast food and it was very good. Today we tried the Detroit dogs and spinach pie I am in love with the pie! Great service very friendly knowledgable about menu items and quick to fill coffee and pop for us! Food it very good. We tried an appetizer (hummus) I could eat that by itself. Top notch in my book!

Just a taste of corned beef hash for $6.09 and does not come with potatoes. Rip off!

Gyro breakfast is pretty good. Encountered a very rude server. Corned beef hash a total rip off smashed thin layer of hash for a whopping $6 and includes no potatoes. When I asked if this was the normal serving they said yes. I would not recommend ordering it if your hungry.

It's usually the wait staff... They always get the eggs just right and I've never been served a broken yolk (are you listening other breakfast places?). Over-easy eggs don't have broken yolks. Their crispy hashbrowns are just that, crispy! They're not gray or half cooked potatoes. The toast is made of high quality rye bread (Schwebel's?) with plenty of butter (and it's always perfectly toasted). THE HAM!!! Oh my god, the ham! This isn't some awful ham roll, no no! It's a slice from an actual ham! Real HAM! I was told it's Dearborn ham and I'd bet that it is. If you're not familiar, Dearborn makes great stuff. So, my issues... Not sure, but the coffee seems like it changed. It's weaker now and lacks the flavor from the coffee I remember from the past. They also stopped garnishing the plates with a slice of orange. I LOVED that slice of orange. Finally, the wait staff. They have some great waitresses but every once in a while, I get one that really doesn't know how it works. Because the server can really screw up a meal, I've avoided going back for months at a time. One time the waitress brought everything except the toast. I started eating the ham and potatoes. By the time she brought the toast, the eggs were cold and I couldn't eat them. She still charged my though. Didn't go back for a year, I swear. It's really important to always bring the complete meal. If the toast chef was asleep at the wheel and the entire breakfast becomes ice cold, have the line re-fire the order. It's not the customer's fault. Anyway, it's a nice, family place. Things usually go well, but there are those times... Oh, the place gets crazy busy on weekend mornings, especially with the after church crowd, so go early or plan on a wait.

I picked up my order and took it home only to find that I was given a Corn Beef Reuben. Since I don't eat red meat, this wasn't something I could ignore. I called the restaurant to notify them that I didn't receive the correct order. I went back (a 20 minute round trip in addition to the initial 20 minute round trip). I think they should have duplicated my initial order given my trouble in having to spend my time and gas money (especially these days) to return to the restaurant for my correct order. But they only gave me the correct Turkey Reuben without fresh fries and without a side of Thousand Island Dressing. I was too annoyed to even raise these issues, as I hadn't eaten all day and just wanted to go home and have a warm sandwich- even with cold fries. The restaurant was also very crowded when I went back the second time (ambiance is that of a bustling diner) and I just didn't want to deal with more time-consuming stress. I usually love this restaurant but am going to take a break. I've posted a picture of the Corn Beef Reuben for those who might be interested. (I've spared you more pics of my usual Turkey Reuben.)

Decided to check it out in the hope of having a meal and getting some work done around 3pm. As I was walking in, I noted the posted hours and they were closing at 4pm. Oh well. As I entered the restaurant, the server was sweeping the floor. She showed me to a table. I was the only customer. I tried to ignore a slight musty smell-as if tables had been wiped down with a musty rag, to give you an idea. The server, Crystal, couldn't have been nicer. I ordered an Arnold Palmer and she brought the iced tea in one glass and lemonade in another so I could mix it up to suit my taste. Nice! I ordered a Turkey Reuben with dressing on the side. It came with an order of fries, and Crystal promptly brought ketchup to the table without being asked. I had pulled out a file to review but my food came out in no time. Everything was exactly as ordered. The sandwich was decent and the thousand island dressing tasted homemade. The fries were good. Everything was solid but the food just wasn't amazing. However, it was a good value at a total of $12-something. The cash price was a bit lower than if paying by credit card. While I had hoped to get some work done, I felt distracted because the restaurant was clearly getting ready to close. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Just packed up my laptop and left. Would I return? Maybe. It just wasn't the leisurely meal I had anticipated given my arrival so close to closing and there was nothing that would make me want to rush back. I'd recommend checking it out for great service and their specials (e.g., all you can eat fish for Lent).
