Supposed to be the best dive bar in Humboldt county. It lived up to its reputation . Cool bar, pin ball machine, pool tables and jukebox. A stage for live entertainment but Wednesday night not available. Outdoor seating and a patio for smokers. Food was good, alcohol in drinks was a little light so we ordered shots. Service was VERY friendly but slow. It was hot and stuffy. But we had so much fun playing pool that when we come back to the Redwoods we will visit again. read more

This place is super fun. The night I stopped in they were having a Christmas party with free snacks. I also offered to pay for a shot glass and they gave it to me, saying Merry Christmas. This lovely neighborhood bar and grill will warm the cockles of your heart. Local residents like to gather here and vibe while playing pool tournaments or hunkering into a clump for a lively convo. It's a very friendly crowd and I had great conversations and the rubbing of elbows. Free spirited, warm vibes. There was no victory for me at pool but rest assured, I'll be back. Don't miss this venerable, historic hangout if you're road tripping in the area. Bartenders are friendly characters and the food is good and fresh. I stayed at the Redwood Hotel 120 feet away and came here every evening I was here (btw the Brass & Rail serves food until 11 pm). The locals welcomed me warmly and I tip my hat. I'd been wanting to try the Sonoran Dog for quite awhile. Yelp says the kitchen doesn't open until 6:30. Called ahead and was told it opens at 6. Went in at 6 and they weren't quite ready to cook. Not a big problem. The dog was terrific. A generous hot dog as long as the bun, wrapped in bacon and grilled. It was smothered with grilled onions and multicolored bell peppers. Catsup or a special sauce was on the bun. It was soooo good. read more

Great food. Friendly bar atmosphere with pool tables and the locals are very welcoming. The Bartender runs all ordering and it's a great place to start a tab and enjoy your evening. Roustabout local was 86ed professionally the night we passed through after a day of The Avenue of the Giants. I can recommend the Rodeo Burger and the loaded tots! We also sampled the hot wings thanks to Kamal, a local regular you'd be lucky to run into... and yes the wings were awesome too! We stopped by for the "Trailer Trash Bash theme night. It was a blast. The band was late because they got pulled over on the way up. However, they got set up fast and the music was good. Kind of a mixed bag - listed as a steakhouse, but they have a Thai menu as well, and all of the specials were Thai on the day I went. Service was pretty good, although having the hostess ask me what was wrong with the food I left on my plate was annoying (I was full). I ordered the Thai scampi - it was good, but the inclusion of pineapple made the dish sweeter than I would have liked. I thought that $22 for a plate with 7 small-ish shrimp on it was a bit expensive. Given the limited choices for dinner in this area, it was OK overall. read more

Or maybe being the only game in town has led to complacent, sloppy oversight. The fried food we ordered to nosh on while playing pool? I know there were fries and some other thing goopy with what seemed like cheese whiz; it was all limp and greasy. Disappointing. Over the last eight years I've been coming here, I've usually gone to this bar a couple of times while in the area - three months or so a year. The service was prompt, without attitude, the drinks were well made. I didn't order food so I can't compare it. Whatever the change has been, hopefully it will change back. read more

Wow! Has this place cleaned up. Turned into a great little neighborhood bar and grill. Pool tables, ping pong tables. Good place to hang out with friends. And the food has definitely stepped up. I had the rodeo burger and it was excellent. Big and juicy with crispy onion rings, bacon, cheese and a yummy bbq sauce. Not rowdy and super packed which I like! Lots of games they have Jenga, pool, and a couple of other games. They have themed nights which is always fun! Their food is really good I loved the zucchini fries! I like the atmosphere I would recommend this bar! read more

I love this bar, I don't go out a lot but when I do I insist on going here. On top of the good vibes and plenty of things to do inside, they are ALWAYS holding fun exclusive activities and in doing so, they support local businesses. Food can be good at times. The bar is seedy and rowdy, I live near it and it's LOUD loud loud and rowdy even on week nights. I've heard gunshots outside the place and people smashing bottles on the street. People from the bar are frequently walking down the street screaming at each other. read more

All I can say is wow. This place is so dirty! The bartender ignored me for the first 30 minutes I was there. When I went outside to smoke there was a bunch of tweakers and what looked to be homeless people. If I could give this a negative star because that's what it deserves! read more
