Really exquisite in a Dublin brasserie to find such depth in sauce pairings. Went for the 3 course pre theatre: 1) duck confit exquisite creamy sauce with lentils cilantro and a touch of citrus 2) hake cooked to perfection the mushrooms add the perfect woodsiness to complement the fish 3) pannacota was absolutely amazing. Biased bc I really like forest berries but was the perfect tart to tang balance to the creamy texture of the pannacota. Loved it. We booked here on the basis of favourable comments from friends. Just before I left work, however, a colleague warned me off and I should have listened to her. Starters were a Cesar salad made with non-cos lettuce and an adequate, if small portion of grilled lamb on a skewer. The accompanying bread was indifferent. The medium rare steak was cooked correctly but the meat was distinctly average, having little taste and an odd texture. The other main was prawn and crabclaws and I doubt I've ever been presented with crabclaws as rubbery and tasteless. The prawns were almost as bad and the whole sorry mess was drowned in a watery, nasty tomato sauce which had not been mentioned on the menu. There is a good selection of house wine by the glass and carafe (six or seven each of red and white) but the Virgin Mary I asked for was as bad as you will get anywhere. The total cost was an ambitious €105 for two which is extortionate given the quality of food on offer and incomprehensible when you consider the excellent restaurants nearby. That said, the meal would have been bad value at half that price. Service was fine and the restaurant was completely full (on a Friday night) which is good to see but it surely cannot be repeat business given the standard of what is on offer. read more

The location ads a star but they recently switched or upgraded their reservations systems and had some issues. The food was good, nothing terribly to write home about but better than the average location in the city. The service actually has Irish working, which is a nice addition since most places seemed to have imported half of Poland. Though when they make a mistake they admit it and bring you a bonus, something nice to see/hear these days of everyone else blaming others. read more

I had the french toast for brunch and although delicious it was merely two slices of bread with 3 berries on each slice, with a small side of creme fraiche and maple syrup. Very tasty but for 10.95?! The brunch menu doesn't have any coffees or teas listed so had to quiz the waiter about what teas they had. I probably wouldn't return, there is similar quality food with better value to be had elsewhere in Dublin. Would return for dinner because although small it was delicious. read more

I ordered off of the meal set which I think is a great bargain - you get an appetizer, main and dessert for under 30 euro (there's a more expensive meal set menu as well). Okay, I'm glad to see that other Yelpers have had the same attitude toward Brasserie Sixty6 that I did: meh. Because it was PACKED when I went, and after dinner, I really couldn't see why this place is so popular. I went with a group of seven at 7:30 on a Thursday evening, and I think if you're trying to go at such a busy time, it'll be necessary to make a reservation. It's a buzzing, energetic place, and, partly because of how open the restaurant is, quite loud. When the first of the group arrived, we realized that it was so noisy that we could barely hear each other. We asked to be moved to a quieter part of the restaurant, and were immediately relocated to a side area, which was much better for our crowd. The food wasn't great; the main menu is not especially imaginative, and the quality isn't as high as I would expect, given the prices. There is a vegetarian menu, which has some interesting-sounding things. I started with a spiced lamb skewer, which was a bit dry and not as spiced as I would have liked. For my main, I ordered something from the vegetarian menu: an aubergine and brie fritter, which came with a sort of olive ragu. It was disappointing; just a little limp and tasteless. My brother's medium-rare beef fillet came well-done, and he was unimpressed with the quality of the meat. If I remember correctly, appetizers were around the €10 range, with mains around €15 - €25. Service was slow but attentive: it took around forty-five minutes between sitting down and getting our appetizers. This seemed standard for the restaurant. It didn't bother us -- we weren't in any rush -- but under different circumstances, I might find that frustrating. Our waitress was professional and warm, our water glasses were constantly being refilled, and we appreciated that we were able to switch tables. Four stars for service, two stars for food. read more

Perfect! Went here for our one year anniversary and it was just perfect :) We had ordered the crab with avocado for starters (cant remember exact name) and the lobster with prosecco special for main. Both were divine!...*drooools* We were seated immediately (had reservations) and food didn't take too long to arrive. While we were waiting we sipped on our prosecco's whilst nibbling on the delicious poppy seeded bread they had left for us. Overall the food was just perfect, attention to detail was perfect, staff were friendly and professional, the restaurant has an upmarket feel but the crowd didn't seem uptight which was refreshing and price wasn't too steep at all - surprised. Went to Brasserie Sixty6 three weeks ago with a friend from OZ on a Friday evening as it was the only restaurant with availability. The service was terrible. Ordered the Monkfish and had to send it back to be cooked! It was presented to me on top of the cold veggies served originally. Waited and waited for attention from the staff but eventually gave in and ate my fish which was tasteless, for two mains and two coffees the bill came to over 60 euro. My family is quite the foodie family, so when we heard that Brasserie Sixty6 had a famous chef, we had to try it. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Key ingredients were missing on the sandwiches, our waiter was rude until we informed him that we were "yelpers," and the food overall was average. Hadn't been here for a while so, on a last minute impulse, went in on a busy Thursday evening. Having been turned away before I did take the precaution of booking in advance. My companion arrived before I and was nursing an excellent Cosmo as I sat down. We stuck to main courses only ( shank of lamb for me, crispy skin pork for her) and both were pretty good. Preceded by the usual moreish bread and accompanied by a fruity Sauvignon Blanc, we passed a very pleasant hour and a half. I finished off with a latte and the bill was just over €90 plus tip. Given that we had only a main course with drinks, it wasn't particularly cheap but it was par for the course. Nice, nothing peculiarly memorable about it and with pleasant service so we will probably be back, just not in a major hurry. read more

A friend recommended this place when we were in Ireland, and I'm so glad he did, as our meal was absolutely stellar. Started with free glasses of Prosecco as a Yelp check-in special (thanks, B66, for that generous touch!), and then some wonderful Chicken Liver Parfait as our appetizer. For my main, I had what was probably the best steak I've ever eaten in my entire life...and I live in Chicago, home of a million great steakhouses...so that is saying a lot! I like my steaks super rare (ordered blue) and this is one of the few places that not only got the steak rare enough, but that also had a good enough quality of meat that it was still super tender. Came here for Sunday brunch with my mom and was quite pleased with everything overall. I ordered the fish cakes which came with a side salad, and my mom ordered the seafood omelette, and we were both quite happy with the taste and quality. The only thing was that the omelette was quite salty, but otherwise food-wise, everything was great! The prices were also very reasonable, everything was around 10~15 euro. I also checked in via Yelp and were able to get a free glass of Prosecco, but as there was two of us, they give a free one to my mom as well complimentary which was really nice! The staff were very friendly and efficient, food didn't take long at all, and the portions were very decent. The interior design was also pretty cool with all the nice decorative plates on the walls, and the atmosphere was great too. I'd put this place on my list of great brunch spots in Dublin, no reservation necessary either. read more

I always get excited about going to Brasserie Sixty6, but I always end up disappointed. It looks good, it's buzzy, it's in a good spot and the menu reads well, but it still leaves me expecting more. Admittedly it's great for gangs and they cater for huge groups on any day of the week, but I think the food is a bit of a let down. One of the old reliables is rotisserie chicken with corn on the cob, mash & coleslaw. It's a great old fashioned dish and you could bet it would be tasty, but it's only ok - it's not €17 nice. They do have a nice tasty starter menu but again, it's all a little pricey for what it is. They've got some new addition banger and mash dishes to cater for the recession and they also do promotions so keep an eye on their window and website. At the moment their running a free main course promo (when you buy two other courses each). Specialty is their suckling pig which must be ordered a week before dining - it's supposed to be lovely. If it's a weekend make sure you call ahead and make a reservation otherwise you aren't getting in. The food was very good! No complaints at all! You get what you pay for as well. The portions were very big! I had the fried goat cheese appetizer along with the hummus and dips appetizer which was very tasty. I shouldn't have ordered an appetizer though because I barely made a dent in my main course. I got the smoked bacon garlic and thyme rotisserie half chicken dish with potatoes and it was also very delicious! The service was good too. Ate here on Saturday night, place was packed to the rafters and we had no reservation yet they managed to squeeze us in without a wait and even let us use an offer that my boyfriend had for a free main course for his birthday. I opted for the duck, while in birthday mode and fancying a bit of a treat, he went for the surf and turf. Sides of buttered cabbage with crispy bacon and sweet potato fritters caught our eye so they made it to the table too. The duck was beautifully soft and tender, marinated in a sweet sticky sauce, the confit leg, with its uber crispy skin was the star of the show for me, and the zingy little grapefruit and pinenut salad that accompanied it cut through the sweetness of the duck really nicely. The duck fat roasties that came with the dish were soft and flavoursome, though they could have been crispier for my taste. The sides were both excellent, the cabbage and salty crispy bacon were a lovely addition to the duck, while the sweet potato fritters came ensconced within a light, herby tempura batter and were beautifully soft inside. Himself enjoyed the steak very much, though he thought the surf element added little to the dish, as the prawns were very bland. The accompanying wedges and guacamole went well together but he felt that some garlic butter for the steak and prawns could have elevated the dish -it lacked a little in the flavour department overall. All in all though, we left very happy, especially as his main course was free. The service was a little chaotic, and we felt that we were rushed a little at the start of the meal to get our order in, but seeing as it was a very busy Saturday night, I wouldn't judge them too harshly on this. Appetising but mostly overpriced and overrated. My vegetarian option came out fine but all my friends complained that their steak, duck or chicken was overcooked or dry. Ironically, I was the only one satisfied with my food in what is supposed to a meat-eaters' restaurant. Presentation was excellent. Dessert looked and tasted good. Surroundings were busy, noisy, stuffy or you could equally describe it as having a good buzz about it. Staff was pleasant and obviously well able to deal with groups, service was faultless. This is a good place for a group and food is decent. Great if you're out for the night in town drinking, but if it's good food you're after, then you may find a better deal elsewhere. Or else the chicken, rosemary + apple sausage with mash, yum! Guys, if you're looking to impress the lady (or ladies?) this place will be a winning choice for ya! Although it's not exactly cheap, the atmosphere and intimacy, along with the quality of your dining and excellent service, makes it a place you'll want to go back to! I went to this brasserie while on business trip in Dublin. We were 9 and have been nicely welcome. The place is in a busy street of Dublin so easily accessible. The decor is nice and we were comfortably seated not far from the entrance (and we were not cold!) we ordered started, a shame they don't do platter to share but we had houmous and a tart with goat cheese. Not easy to share but we manage to make it happen and it was excellent! The main... Lots of attractive choice! I hesitate between the burger and the fish. My choice was finally the fish and what a choice! It was a sea bass filet served with ratatouille, potatoes with pesto and a skewer with 3 prawns. I was happy to not have gone for the burger even if it look good but maybe too big after my eating so much starters and bread. Talking about the bread, they serve you massive bread's pieces just cut from a massive piece of bread with butter! The bread was really good but careful, when you start it's over and remember, you have ordered your main already :). Desert now, was not tempting by any to be honest. My colleague went for ice cream , cheesecake, etc. The combinations on each desert were weird or should I said not what you except. When I saw the desert, I am glad I did not have any, they did look like some industrial desert so no regret there! In general I found this place really nice , the waiter was nice and patient and I love my main meal! So an address to keep for when I will go back to Dublin! read more

Its hard to know where to start with this review. I don't review alot but when I do , its usually to comment on something unique about the experience. If I have had a great experience I will rave and recommend and return to the place again and again, either with my partner/family or work colleagues. But when it is a terrible experience, I believe it is also important to call it out, so that the management (and/or owner) can take note , review if something needs to change and then change it. I've eaten in 2 other Dylan McGrath restaurants a number of times (fade street social and rustic stone), have always had great food and superb service. When i learned about our work evening out at BrasserieSixty6 I was anticipating a great evening. What happened over the course of the evening could only be described as a calamity of errors on a scale that would make Basil Fawlty blush. We were a party of some 20+ who arrived between 19:00 and 19:30 for the meal. It was dry January for me so I indulged in 3 bottles of sparkling water, well to be honest I only ordered one, but by the time they arrived (30 mins after order) I decided it would be a advisable to keep them all to ensure that I didn't die of thirst for the remainder of the evening. At approx 20:00 some bread (i mean some, 3 small portions) came out which was followed about 30 mins later with the waitress to take the orders. At this stage as I had to take a train home at 10pm, I asked for a starter and a side dish to come out with the other starters. Time ticked by, I was onto my 3rd bottle of water, still no food, approaching 21:20 , all of the starters were coming out (well at least some of them were). I enquired about my own order to which i was told that they hadn't put it in as they thought I didn't want it and would wait for the main course !?!?!? They then offered to make it for me there and then and it would only take a couple of minutes, but I respectfully declined the offer, pointing to the time and indicating that I had to leave. It was now a case of needing to eat as opposed to going out for a meal with my colleagues. I went to leave only to find that one of the staff members spilled a pint of beer over my jacket and bag. It was a cold night, so felt the wind blow through the damp fabric of my jacket . 2 other colleagues also left shortly afterwards to grab trains but found themselves making an unexpected detour to McDonalds ......... for food ! All round it was calamitous ! The manager was blaming the wait staff which was grossly unfair, the errors were as a result of the chronic under staffing in the restaurant and also their failure to anticipate this. One of the wait staff burst into tears for fear of what their manager would say to them. It was a terrible experience all round, but blame should not sit with the staff but with the management. In all of my years and all of the places that I've been around the world I cannot recall a worse experience. From what I was told , many of the orders that came out were wrong , or the food was cold or just mediocre. I can also honestly say that It is a place that I will never visit again, nor will I recommend to any family/friend or work colleague or a place to bring work colleagues. There are many fine eating establishments in Dublin, there is also alot of competition for the consumer so there is no need to settle for a sub par experience on the off chance that this restaurant owned by a highly regarded and reputable chef may indeed be ...... OK. Oh, and just to close out on my own little dining tour that evening. After getting off the train I arrived at my house at 22:50 only to receive a text message from one of my colleagues telling me that my meal had just arrived at the table ! I will just never know how good or mediocre that meal would have been ! read more

Love eating here... Food is always good and service brilliant. Has a cool vibe about it and atmosphere is always good. Like the decor also something a little strange but intriguing about it. Rotisserie pork is amazing as are the roast potatoes... Had a great night here. Excellent place. Two people, two bottles of wine, two mains, two starters and a dessert, EUR150. The wings starter was superb, the right heat, something like a dozen wings. Beef short rib was awesome, Big bit of meat, nice veggies. The bread and butter pudding was fantastic. Great wines, wide selection at okay prices but maybe could do with a few more new world wines, maybe starting with some more NZ Marlborough and Australian Margaret River or Victorian reds. The only thing I would say is that we slipped up and ordered a bottle of still water rather than the bottle of tap water at the beginning. But there you go. Oh yeah and the monkfish could have done with a bit more flavour although it was suitably meaty. Good atmosphere, great service, great value. I can't recommend this place highly enough. read more

So underwhelming. But the service was great. After being sent here by the sister restaurant, Stone Rustic which is across the street, we had high hopes. Looking over the menu we were all severely underwhelmed, talk about the "ugly sister". Wine was satisfactory, but the food utterly sucked. Started with the seared tuna and the mackerel salad. The tuna was okay, but not exceptional. The mackerel was also okay. My sister got the wild boar chop which was easily the best thing that I tasted here, but by a greasy narrow margin. The lamb pork chop I had was severely under seasoned, would prefer to say unseasoned for furtherance of the point. The abundant "fries" on the menu were also under seasoned. It came with a heirloom tomato salad which was a bunch of wilted salad mix and some bad tomatoes. Really I did not enjoy any part of my meal. read more

Have been here countless times for both brunch and dinner and it never disappoints! Poached eggs are always done to perfection, the salmon is fresh and a generous helping and they'll happily swap out an English muffin for brown bread if you ask. I wanted to treat myself to a nice meal on my last day in Dublin, so I went to Brasserie Sixty6 for their Sunday brunch. It was definitely a lazy Sunday - I rolled out of bed, walked down the street, and got seated right away. The other reviews are correct when they say the service is slow. I saw several patrons get up and leave because they were never helped. Luckily I was not in a hurry. I ordered the eggs benedict. It was pretty tasty, although the English muffins muffins were so chewy that they were almost inedible. It was more than enough food for a decent price. Overall, I would say that everything from the food to the service was pretty mediocre. The best thing here was the live piano music, but sadly the customers ignored him and talked over the music. I don't know much about Dublin, but I am sure there are much better offerings. read more

Came in here on a third date a few months ago. When we got in we were told there were no tables so we waited nearly an hour to be seated. We had made a rservation. So we had a couple of cocktails while we were waiting. When we sat down she ordered a pasta dish and I ordered a steak. I forget about the starters. What I do remember is that we were waiting 2 hours for a steak to come out. Twice we were apologised to. The girl that came up told us that it was because i had ordered the steak and too many people had been ordering it. I felt like I was supposed to apologise. I think I might have;-)The second time they offered us a drink. I said Id have a beer and she ordered a cocktail. We were then told that they were not allowed give a cocktail. So we said forget about it -fugaazzi! Considering we had spent a lot and had been given terrible service up until then I was shocked by that. The reason I am giving it 2 stars is that a friend of mine from Kerry had been there with his girlfriend and had a great time so maybe its a bit harsh on this one experience.
