Our Kiwanis Club's were honoring these students for their outstanding achievement in school. With that in mind, we kept the food simple, so they were Quesadillas, Chicken Franchise, Penne à la vodka, and mixed vegetables. Everyone enjoyed all the food. Chicken was tender and tasty, Penne was cooked well with a tasty Vodka sauce and the Chicken Quesadillas were tasty and cooked well. Apparently they do an outstanding job with whatever they serve. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and ushered into the cocktail hour room, that had a wonderful display of delicious appetizers and beverage options. The grounds are stunning and with the recent snow it was magical. Once the rest of the wedding party arrived we were all moved upstairs to a private room were the wedding took place, it brought tears to my eyes on how beautiful it was. The house was so solidly constructed that the interior partitions were filled with sand and bricks. The interior woodwork was all heavy walnut." You can feel the history as soon as you walk in. It is wonderful to be able and use some of these old rooms for entertaining. My personal favorite is the Library. So... in terms of today. The staff here is wonderful, friendly and extremely helpful. They have even been able to make some minor modifications to a dinner order at a party. Simply, they care. Food is always tasty-fresh and most importantly hot... They have a certain formula here and it works very well. When I come as a guest I usually have their shrimp dish. I always enjoy their creative entrees. The dance floor was packed from start to finish with about 50 high school students dancing and singing along to everything from "Beat It" and "Cupid Shuffle" to "Gas Pedal," "FEIN," and "Lip Gloss." What impressed us most was that the kids never seemed to leave the dance floor. For four straight hours, the dance floor was full of high school seniors dancing, singing, and having an amazing time. He knew how to read the room, keep the energy up, and make sure the music matched what the kids wanted to hear. We received so many compliments from both the graduates and the parents. Richie was a pleasure to do business with and his staff was more then accommodating and went out of their way to make sure our guest with food allergies were taken care of. We also wound up having to have our service there prior to the party and he was able to turn our idea into reality making the space feel more appropriate for that part of the event. Which turned into a blessing in disguise as the party was on the minute the service concluded. The stress free transition made everyone truly enjoy the party. The added bonus of the all inclusive (except the swag) meant the overall cost was less and zero headaches as there were no vendors to have coordinate with. Our venue offered an all inclusive DJ, Photography/Videography package. We decided to take advantage of this because we trusted our venue and heard so many great stories of other brides and grooms enjoying their wedding and receptions. Unfortunately we were not one of them. From the very begining dealing with them was a hassle. I was only able to speak to anyone in regards to our wedding on Thursdays after 5pm. I never understood this. That alone was a red flag, I blame myself. On the day of, both the DJ and MC seemed to be completely clueless on how to work the crowd as far as what to play and how to get the people up and on the dance floor. Most of the time our guests were just sitting looking bored. The DJ absolutely RUINED the choreographed dance I did with my parents by messing up the music mid way. We literally had to turn around and tell him to put our music back on. Then he cut short the choreographed dance my husband and I did with our children. He didn't blend it or anything, just abruptly cut it off while we were still dancing. The genre of music we asked to be played for the ceremony prelude and dinner were not played. I didn't dare ask what was played during cocktail hour, but I'm sure that was wrong too. A few spanish songs were played and the MC asked for all the "Hispanics in the room" to get on the dance floor. I was mortified! A few of our guests were offended by this, others let it go. People started leaving like 2 hours early. I even wanted to leave but of course I had to stay and keep smiling even though i wanted to cry and run away. All of our guests have made comments saying our wedding was beautiful but the DJ sucked. My husband and I are so embarrassed by this. We didn't even get an apology at the end of the evening.
