    Wild Turkeys in the Vineyard
    Kristian D.

Bray Vineyards has been around for a long time and is a popular destination for many Amador visitors. The winery and tasting room are located at the southern end of Shenandoah Road just outside of Plymouth. You must navigate a paved single lane road to drive back to the facility. Watch out for wild turkeys! The winery is somewhat rustic with a lot of country accents. The front door is on the north side of the building facing the loading dock area next to the bathtub. The interior is similar to a nice barn with the only wild animals being the occasional bachelorette party. You get a standard tasting menu of their average to above average wines in the classic Amador style with purchase refund. The signs of the farmer popping a wheelie are indicative of the place. Bray serves approachable wine in a relaxed country setting with nice staff and a fun atmosphere.

Love this place! How can you not love a place that has Brayzin Hussy Red wine? Also, they have signs up of a tractor driver doing a wheelie with a bottle of wine in his hand...that is awesome! This was the last winery we hit on our adventure last weekend. I'm so glad we made the trip. The people working were really friendly and I enjoyed most of their wines. The Brayzin Hussy Red was actually very nice and I had to buy a bottle to give to my Mom who is a redhead...and a brayzin hussy! I also left with a bottle of their Tempranillo which is a very smooth Spanish wine. I can't wait to come back for another bottle of hussy wine but that one will be for this hussy only ;-)

Utilitarian building for storing and tasting wine. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/DbLP3Fszwrf7Ue8IWg7qCA?select=9q5kMqzuyMz-C-HR69AJ5g Robin Bray was the host in the tasting room. Delightful person. 2010 Brazen Hussy Red @ $15 is a good everyday red 2010 Barbera Rosato @ $18 is a good value for spaghetti wine 2008 Tres Vinas (GSM) @ $22 was not steller as I am used to Paso blends 2009 Primitivo and 2008 Tempranillo @ $22 were good deals 2008 Barbera Port @ $24 good enough to buy and we did. Had it not been that we had found tastier varietals at Driver and Cooper for about the same price, this would have been a place to stock up.

Is your soul trapped in the 60's or 70's? It feels good 'round here. The place is always jammin', pouring wine and having a great time. Along the winding road in you will notice a subtle change in the road side tractor signs from the regular yellow caution, to a tipping tractor with someone chugging wine.... The tone is set... The infamous "BrayZin Hussy Red" gives a little more insight to the jovial personality emanating throughout this winery. The Zins and other reds are very good. Fruit forward and peppery. Overall it's a jamboree for wine tasters... Who said Blondes have all the fun ;-)

Thanks to Tiffany K. for her review and have convinced me to try Di Arie Vineyard & Winery. I made…read morereservation in advance by email because no one answered the phone and no option to leave a message. When I got there, they didn't have my name for reservation. I had to show them the email confirmation. It was fine and we were still able to sit down right away. The inside wine tasting room is kind of small but the outdoor patio and area makes up for it. It is quite big and open. I think someone can host an outdoor concert or a wedding. We got to taste about five type of wines (Sauvignon Blanc and few blended red wine). They were all good. I particularly like the 2020 Interlude and purchased a bottle for my sister. We also got to sample from their gallery collection library club that's like 20+ years old ( I forgot the exact year) and that was special. They also have dumplings and spring rolls for purchase. I skip that because I wasn't sure if that would go with the wine. We bought some cheese with us and we had that with our wine. Of course, we asked for permission before bringing in our own cheese and crackers. The gentleman that served us was really nice and friendly. We didn't feel rushed and wine was poured at a good pace. I do want to mention that most winery at Amador will comp at least one tasting with purchase, but not at Di Arie. If you're not a member, be prepared to pay the full wine tasting fee per person.

They did their pairings with a Mediterranean lunch. This was also amazing. They also providdd a tasting of their more recent wines, 2019 Sierra Legend! It's a Terri blend of Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Syrah and Primitivo! The host and hostess were all very friendly and knowledgeable! And of course to meet and chat with the wine maker himself, Chaim, was a wonderful treat! The grounds were small, but very cute and relaxing. It made for a warm, friendly ambiance! Of course we walked away with a case of the Sierra and the 3 OG vintage wines! We're definitely coming back in a few weeks. Thank you Di Arie!

Apparently, this is the related winery to Villa Toscano located nearby, which we had previously visited. Once again, I found myself a fan of this place also! It too, is surrounded by eye pleasing countryside views, with lovely ponds, fountains, flowers and comfortable seating areas along the outdoor patios. The entrance opens into a large room where the tasting counter is at the far end. But before getting there, you are tempted on the way over to browse the retail area which features home decor, artwork, designer accessories, and clever wine connoisseur gifts. The walls are decorated with assorted flags and a family style crest over the focal point of the wine tasting bar. The wines offered on the wine tasting list were similar to what we had tried before at Villa Toscano. But we ordered another $5.00 flight that included our favorites along with a few we hadn't tried yet. We enjoyed the flavor variations, but had a hard time deciding on what to purchase, so we went outside for a while to take in the scenery and discuss which ones we liked the best. Bella Piazza also offers a wine club membership that includes discounts on wine, other products and a free lunch buffet every weekend. This is another nice little winery to spend time with family and friends!
