You're miscarrying"...and then without taking a breath she proceeded to ask me "So how come you waited so long to try to have another baby?" Because I was over 35, and had a two year old at the time, she thought that THIS was somehow the best time to ask me why I waited so long to try for another child. And then as I was leaving, she said "I would give you a hug but ya know" referring to the pandemic limitations (in which she actually seemed a bit relieved to not have to fake like she cared with a hug). The gaul to think I would really want a hug from someone who was so cavalier about my feelings? That was almost 6 years ago and I have never and will never recommend this Dr or return to her care.

It's clear she's recognizes that the pain and sickness we carry in our bodies isn't just a result of genetics or diet. It's also a result of generational trauma. I still reflect on our deep and heartfelt discussions and believe that these discussions positively impacted my mental health and ultimately my fertility. I also appreciate that Dr. Koopersmith never pressured me to get on fertility drugs. Of course, it's an important step for some. However, she knew I had a history of conceiving health children. I was just older. She advised me to clean up my diet (no diary, no soy, no gluten), work on my mental health, and just keep trying to conceive. It worked. However, she had NOT asked me if I had any medical conditions -- she asked me if I was HEALTHY, and I was indeed because my hypothyroidism is being appropriately managed by an endocrinologist. I did not appreciate her acting as though I am an idiot when I was a STEM major at a top university that Taaly frankly would not have been accepted to. In addition to her poor bedside manner, I was highly dissatisfied with her medical care. When I asked her to put me on birth control for acne, she simply handed me a pack of pills and began to walk out. "Wait!" I exclaimed. "Is this the best one for acne? Can you explain to me why?" She dismissively replied "all birth control is good for acne" and left the room. This is the reason I have come back to share a review today: I struggled with worsening acne for years after that visit, only to be told by a dermatologist this week that the birth control I had been prescribed by the brilliant Taaly was androgenic and actually can WORSEN acne.
