This place gets 5 Stars! I looked online on a Saturday morning and I saw "In the City Wax" had great reviews, I am new to the area so I figured I would check it out. I called to schedule an appointment, and Brittany was able to fit me in. I showed up for my appointment that afternoon, and was greeted by Brittany. She had a great attitude and a very inviting energy. The interior of the place is extremely cute. I love the decorations. The place was very sanitary, and clean which I love especially for such an intimate service. I had an appointment for a brazilian wax and an underarm wax. I got on the table to begin my service and the table was a massaging table (major brownie points). I requested for her to do my wax in small wax strips because I can get a bit sensitive, and she did just that and was very attentive. She ensured to get get every hair. Brittany gained a returning customer today! This was the least painful Brazilian wax I've EVER had and I've been consistently waxing since April of 2024. I'm not sure whether it's her technique or her wax or maybe both but the pain level was incomparable in the best way compared to other estheticians I've been with. She also has the best music playing and the chair even massages so the vibes in the room are on point and it never feels awkwardly silent. She even gives her first clients a little care package! I visited In the City Wax Boutique for the first time this morning and had a really good experience. This was only my first second time getting any kind of wax service, so you can take my perspective pretty much as a newbie's. My technician was Imani, and she put me so much at ease. We chatted during my entire appointment, and she was both professional and detailed while still being warm and friendly. I highly recommend her. The waiting room has massage chairs for patrons to sit on, and the technicians table during my appointment was also an electric massage table, so My body was getting that extra feedback the entire time. Both the fellow who checked me in and the woman who checked me out were professional and friendly. The wait to get to my appointment was maybe a minute. The whole thing was perfectly quick. IMPORTANT: First time clients need to pay a deposit before their appointment to hold their spot or else their appointment will be canceled. The office calls people the day before to get a card payment or cash app transfer to make the deposit, but I missed that call. I didn't remember seeing this policy on the website, so I was surprised when I got an email about my appointment being canceled, but I gave the office a call, someone was able to pick up right away, and we got it taken care of and my appointment time was still able to happen. The shop is on a small corner lot, so parking maybe tricky, but I didn't have a problem. I will say, when I had previously passed the shop, I thought that its name was Brazilian wax, because those are the largest words on their signage, so that might be a little confusing when you arrive for the first time. The shop also has some different deals available, and the pricing seemed good to me. I would highly recommend In the City Wax for waxing! Absolutely LOVED my experience here! I actually have a waxing package with another company but a good friend of mine suggested we come here so I took a chance. Initially I was a bit nervous because the exterior didn't look like a typical wax spot (plus, I'm from NYC) but the interior was so cozy and nice, I became excited for the new venture. The host that greeted my friend and I was friendly and offered us some whipped shea butter. I love whipped butters but this one (tropical candy) smelled so freakin good! He asked if we'd like to check out some more while we waited for our waxer and of course we agreed. They had a variety of butters and exfoliating scrubs and omggaaahhh. They all smelled AMAZING. Our waxer, India, came out to greet us shortly after and she was so beautiful and also very nice. She even allowed my friend and I to be in the same room together! She asked us both a few questions and then got to work. And sis sure did WERK!! India was quick and efficient. It's been a few days since my Brazilian and I'm still baby smooth. Before leaving, my friend and I made sure to get some of the butters and scrubs. I swear they put a little bit of heaven in them because my skin feels and smells so nice. Walked in and was immediately greeted by a very nice gentleman who checked me in and told me about their wide variety of scented shea butters and exfoliants. He even provided me with a free sample it smelled so yummy! On Fridays and Saturdays they offer a great special, pay for a Brazilian and get an underarm wax for free! India did my wax and started with my underarms. My Brazilian had to be theeee most pain free Brazilian ive ever gotten, she definitely has it down to a science. They offer a variety of services here and I believe they offer different specials daily so ill for sure be back. The only thing that was different was that I'm used to the waxer stepping out of the room while I undress and dress, but she had her back to me during those times. I had to review this gem I stumbled upon close to home! So I had just left the gym and had a few hour before an event that called for a dress which required me to get my underarms waxed. Sidenote: I stopped shaving my underarms about 6 months ago and it kinda restricts you from wearing certain things when you can't just shave the hair off in a few minutes. Anyway, I go a few blocks down from the gym to find this place and I can confidently say that I will be back! 1. I was a walk-in and staff was very attentive to me (under the assumption I had an appointment but attentive none the less). The hostess gave me a sample of their Shea butter cream to try out while I wait. 2. Brittany (my waxer) came in and introduced herself- confused of course that I was not her next appointment, but nice. She couldn't work me in for any major waxing but luckily I only needed my underarms done, and once she knew that she was very happy to get me in and out on my way! 3. The wax itself was the best, pain free, detailed, clean, and fast wax I've ever had. If you get your underarms waxed often, you may know that the stubble and very fine hairs are really tough to get... well Brittany got em! She wiped my underarms down with a cool aloe soothing cream or gel after- again PAINLESS! I didn't even check to see if she needed to go over them because I was already a walk in and didn't wanna be too picky but when I got home I was very impressed. All of this was $10! She will not keep you waiting, she has the room ready for you as soon as you walk in, and she goes above and beyond to make your experience the BEST possible! The room set up is very well thought of and unique! She definitely covers all areas of client satisfaction and most importantly, keeps it clean! GO see her!
