Im here sipping my coffee in a wonderful nature green glass mug (of which they offered me, i didn't have to ask) with some complimentary soy milk that's out on the community table, along with cream and regular milk. Being one that is so used to commercial coffee stops (what is: Starbucks) im so used to kicking myself for having to pay almost a dollar extra everytime i ask for soy milk. So, seeing as this establishment has it perfectly accessible to anyone and everyone for use, is quite refreshing. And the gent was quick to inform me that the refills are free. Now that's solid. So, as my short getaway is at its 1/2 way point, I have found myself at this eatery a few times thus far for coffee, fresh breads and breakfast. They have a great egg sandwich, which I added chicken sausage to and exchanged the roll for a bagel, cause that's how I like my egg sandwiches. :) And today I was absolutely delighted with my breakfast burrito and large iced coffee with hazelnut syrup and cream. The burrito had the perfect blend everything one could ever want in a burrito. Yummy! You could tell this is the big hit of the town cause it's just always flowing with people, whether they're just dropping in for a coffee or staying for a meal with friends, or as myself, flying solo. There's an outdoor patio, and indoor section with stools to sit in the front part of the eatery or walk to the back for more space. The back reminds me of a cafeteria kind of vibe. Bread alone is one of my favorite coffee shops in the Kingston/Woodstock/Phoenicia area. Usually I don't go to the one in downtown Woodstock just because the town can be a pain to find parking. But we were lucky and found a spot right next to the café and ran in for a couple of coffees and bagels for the road trip back to Syracuse. They have switched the coffee that they brew from when I lived in the area (I think it used to be counterculture) but now they are brewing Irving coffee. Dave had a cup of the Gotham Dark Roast which was good but needed some cream and sugar to tame it a little. I like always had a mocha which is just superb from there. Went to Woodstock for a girls weekend, came here for breakfast before driving back home! This place is perfect for brunch. Love the free samples of tasty breads and sweets right when you walk through the door! My friends all ordered the Hudson River Breakfast (eggs, potatoes, bread, and jacuterie bacon). The bacon was BOMB, so delicious and sliced thick. I ate the Salmon Works on Rye (smoked salmon, dill cream cheese, tomato, and cucumbers) and it was so fresh and perfect. Probably would have licked the plate clean if I saw any of that dill cream cheese left behind.. Place was pretty packed for a Sunday morning! Hard to find a table, but we lucked out! We were visiting Woodstock for a long Christmas weekend and our Airbnb was only about five minutes from downtown, so we hit Bread Alone twice for coffee and breakfast. They served the absolute best avocado toast I have ever had. The clientele is annoying. It's mainly snobby white people. The tables are very close together. I am wired to hate this place but I loved it. Everything about it is great. The pastries were excellent. The staff was excellent. I can't recommend it highly enough. Great food multiple times I've been there and their staff is so, so kind but their COVID process is the one thing that could use a lot of improvement. Menus and the bakery display are all bunched up close to the register rather than in sight right when you get in the door so unless you're a regular you can't really decide what you want until everyone is waiting for you to move quick by the register. It's caused for rushed and misplaced orders both times I've been in Bread Alone. A simple stack of menus right by the door, etc. would resolve this. read more

The line was outside the door! Yet, I still waited. The long line was probably due to the Woodstock Film Festival. There's not many good places to eat in Woodstock, NY. It's a bit pricey. The breads are above average. However, there is no good alternative in Woodstock. I went there for lunch and had a hot sandwich, the Banh Mi. The sandwich looked nice. It was about 6 inches. It was good only because the bread was good. The pork sausage in the Banh Mi is a patty that was meatloaf like. The only resemblance to the taste of a Vietnamese sandwich was from the pickled vegetables and cilantro. I may be spoiled by the great Vietnamese sandwiches in NYC which are by far better than the one at Bread Alone but like I said, this is Woodstock NY, 100 miles away from NYC. Plenty of seats. There is one bathroom (one toilet) and it is so so so nice. If I was in Woodstock, I would eat here again just for the breads. read more

Wonderful friendly people and a delicious spot for coffee - and pastries and sandwiches! We spent the weekend in Woodstock and this became our favourite coffee spot. Online ordering is a breeze and allows provides a space for Notes in which you can customize your order. The food is soooo good, as is the coffee. Croissants, bagels, avocado toast, cappuccinos. Great place! We had breakfast here on all the days that we stayed in Woodstock. The pastries, the breads, and breakfast sandwiches were all top-notch. I had no issues with the service. This was a cute shop and the bread looked highly addictive. First breakfast I had two poached eggs and multigrain toast. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The next day while I was looking for breakfast at 830 am Bread Alone was the only place open. I had a fried egg and avocado on an everything bagel. The bagel was covered in seeds and flavor. Truly delicious. Again the fried egg was cooked perfectly. Not to runny for an egg sandwich and not cooked to death. The staff was very friendly. I've been going to Bread Alone almost every morning for a few years now. The coffee is excellent, the cheese danish is dope & the bagels are as good as you're gonna get outside of NYC. In addition, the people are fantastic and treat me like family, especially Julie, the manager. She knows my coffee order and gets it going as soon as she sees me walk through the door. Even more impressive, once I forgot my wallet and she gave me my morning coffee and pastry on credit! who does that anymore?
