I chose take out so I placed my order and then went shopping next door. They had bar seating and tables and one bigger table for larger parties. It's not a huge restaurant. The meatballs are good here. You can get them as a sandwich, with pastas or just meatballs alone. They also have vegan version as well. The store is pretty good. Frozen stuff including their meatballs and lots of other stuff. Hot sauce, chips and more.

The only downside for me was the sauce. I didn't think it paired very well with the bagel and felt like it took away from the overall flavor. I think a garlic cheese sauce would have been a much better combination!

Yesterday, my sweetheart had a goat cheese omelette, and she loved it. It was perfectly cooked the first morning. We were here. We had the granola bowl and that was amazing too. Today my sweetheart had the shrimp and grits, I had eggs, sausage and sour dough toast. All excellent. I highly recommend this delightful spot and you will enjoy!

Their menu is extensive and impressive; they have some all-star dishes on their permanent menu as well as a rotating daily menu with a legendary lineup of seasonal items. I really appreciate that they have dishes that are hard to come by such as lentil loaf and lasagna, and these never disappoint. The lentil loaf is unique; it is a little brick of lentils (not your traditional sliceable mush of breadcrumbs and minced veggies). It's very well seasoned and the tomato sauce on top is not overly sweet. The mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and (very) garlicky greens make it a great meal. The lasagna is one of my favorite dishes. It's pasta-free and just made from layers of sliced zucchini and other veggies sandwiched with their delicious crumbly housemade cashew cheese. The herby tomato sauce is super flavorful. The side salad and garlic bread that accompany it are great also; an ultra comforting meal. We enjoyed the macro meal, although honestly not as much as the other dishes. The pan-seared tofu was delicious, but the arame seaweed salad was super seaweedy and salty - a bit much for me. I'm also not sure why they didn't serve it in a bowl, which would have made the rice etc. easier to eat. It seemed to be missing something - perhaps avocado, or a hunk of sweet potato. A few items at the Garden Cafe are a little perplexing, compared to how perfect most of their food is. The tempeh is just ok. It's heavily marinated in a sweet and salty sauce and kind of strange. Also disappointing that it's just a big brand tempeh rather than one of the local tempeh brands available in the area. The housemade focaccia is also bizarre. The texture made me think it was gluten-free (but it's not). Is it whole wheat?? If that's the case, awesome, but they should mention that on the menu, so you aren't taken aback when you don't get pillowy airy bread and instead get something flat and gray that could be mistaken for a biscotti. We LOVE the Garden Cafe and wish more places like this existed serving organic classic meals. We wish they would open a location in New York City, but until then, we will be making the drive!

This place is without class and depressing and the ruined our Sunday. Sitting there and this girl is swift mopping and spraying chemicals all around my chair right behind me yet doesn't even see me. Most places sweep floors when people are gone when it closes. Bombarding my personal space what a stupid cafe of chit chat girls, and spoiled weekend morning! I'll go to Starbucks next time only not this joint. It wasn't even like excuse me I need to spray the floor behind you can you move your chair she was just like running around like a child & chit chatting with her friends who work there then they're calling across the room, take your number! I don't awnt to carry around some stupid flag number. read more

I've been going to Bread Alone off and on for years now. This past year I had the pleasure of living in Saugerties for 6 months, a little break from the Florida heat, where I reside. The coffee is amazing! All the food, bread and pastries are consistently delicious. The customer service is always great too! I left a thank you card there today and I was reminded that getting my good feedback would be great on Yelp. So true, social media and favorable posts for businesses like this are important. Walked in there for coffee one weekend and you know what I hear from some creep with long wavy hair? "Oh, we hung out, in the rehab ward, it was really relaxing, all day I was there in the wing." Really out of line and just horrific, you don't hear this at Starbucks because the employees have decency and ethics! How dare you ruin a coffee run just for some latte I find it morally discusting, the coffee shop is the employees' dysfunctional hang out, so oblivious customers are even around. read more

The cozy and relaxing ambiance of this shop made for an enjoyable visit. The bread we purchased was absolutely delicious. However, our experience with the everything bagels was a bit underwhelming. We asked for them toasted with cream cheese, but there was barely any cream cheese, and the bagels weren't as warm or toasted as we expected. On the bright side, the service was quick, and the lady who helped us was very friendly and helpful. read more

The manager of Bread Alone is a kind, wise and strong person. The manager and staff deal with many personalities in the long line of customers day after day. I found that smiling at the staff is a way to start any day. I happen to enjoy much of the food and coffee at Bread Alone. But what I enjoy most are the people who work there, and those who begin their day there. read more

Definitely unsanitary. A young lady with 5 inch nails helped us get our bagels and pastries... she used the same wax paper for all customers which she touched all over. Her nails hindered her so she poked at things. She put dirty bags on top of food items. She seemed really out of it too. Regret read more

The name of the place is Bread Alone, but they have more than bread, which is a little bit confusing. If your expecting french style bread only, the title of the place conceals the true nature of the bakery. That said, all of their food is excellent. read more

It's creamy, super cheesy, had a freaking terrific melt pull and the bread is crispy where it needed to be. I mean- that bread really brought the whole thing together.
