    Apple turnover w mold
    Vanessa B.

Apple turnover... tasted pretty good but was wet on the outside. Then I noticed MOLD on the inside yikes! I bought 2 to go about 11 AM today. It is now 6:30 PM. I'm not sure how fast mold grows but I'm a little grossed out and I hope the one my son ate was ok (he only ate half). I tried to figure out how to private message the restaurant to no avail.

BLT Crepe and Buttermilk Pancakes and White Chocolate Latte

Sorry I couldn't resist eating before I took the photo! I've never seen sizzling bacon before and the buttermilk pancakes stayed soft and warm and delectable just like the amazing BLT Crepe. Great friendly service and ambiance of this cafe all rival that of Cannes and France!

Cool vibe. Bring cash. Bad coffee, but that may be the almond milk. Oh and it is expensive. Like, $6 for a bad iced latte in upstate, ny.

However, if you can look past that, or even see it as part of the charm, you will love this place! The fresh pasta is unlikely any other in the area. The portions are HUGE! And while we were prepared to wait as the restaurant was full and the staff limited- everything came out quickly and perfectly cooked. While it's on the pricier side, for the ingredients and freshness I'd say it's very very fair. The waitress was an angel, offering dessert and a happy birthday song to our table. Dishes that came highly recommended from our table were the meatball app, porcini mushroom cacio e Pepe (though on the saltier side) and the saffron cream sauce angel hair dish with scallops. Another at our table loved the lamb ragu! I did leave a voicemail reservation but checked in the day of and it seemed like they may not have had it- maybe something to note. I think this is a wonderful spot for a special occasion and it's made it to my top 5 in the area without a doubt!

The portions are HUGE, so the heftier prices make sense! The taste is good - but maybe I'm not used to Venice style Italian so the flavors were a little weird for me. Everything was so rich and decadent and a little on the sweeter side - which was just too much for me even on an empty stomach. You will def be bringing leftovers home ! I would coke again and try different dishes and dessert. Btw - all their pasta is homemade too!

The sugar snap pea soup was delicious, accented with lemon oil and fresh herbs. The sliders (great presentation, even the buns were grilled) were generous and juicy, but they needed some acid or sauce - the bacon jam was not very noticeable. Our previous meal was a generous portion of salmon, but again no sauce/seasoning on it or the lentils, very bland. Tagliatelle bolognese was generous, and we have enjoyed the hot fresh berry cobbler a couple times. The cocktails are balanced and interesting, and they have a simple but good wine selection. (Note to management: for a restaurant of this capacity, more than just one handicapped parking spot would be helpful!!) Both the spacious dramatic interior and the porch overlooking the Rondout make for an enjoyable setting. So from the get-go you sort of know that you're in for an experience. There are many breakfast options, including eggs, quesadillas and meat pies. The lunch specials included a chicken curry and rice dish. I picked a shrimp and bean wrap which was very good, but a bit pricey at $15. The displays are an eclectic mix of local honey, hemp products, pottery, seeds, vintage and second hand items. Instead of tipping the staff, customers are asked to place cash in a donation jar to help local charities. Likewise, donations are requested in exchange for vegetables sourced from local farms. The store also has a bright orange bicycle rickshaw out front that can deliver you to your parked car or nearby home for free. Since I was parked right outside, I declined an offer of a free ride. It is a unique store which the staff described as a collaboration of a number of businesses. I've noticed it for years but this was the first time I've set foot through the door. Whatever they're doing is working and visitors feel welcome.

Meanwhile, my husband is loyal to his meat classics: fried chicken or ribs. No surprise he went straight for the fried chicken. The real cherry on top was chatting with the owner's daughter, Mercedes. We ended up cracking up over our names. I mean seriously, what are the chances?
