I ordered a strawberry bubble tea and a mango lassi that came to an overpriced $14. The bubble tea had undercooked boba and tasted like strawberry Nesquik or from a powder. The lassi separated within 10 minutes and got worse in the next 10. See photos. They were closing up when I got my drinks so I couldn't even go back to show them. Although, I am not sure what they would have done as they weren't too friendly to begin with. This place is subpar. read more

DONT GO HERE!!!! !! No lie I walked in at 8:40 and now it's 9:42 and still haven't got my 2 bacon eggs and cheeses. After waiting another 20 minute. I asked for a refund since I have been waiting for over a hour. After arguing over the 15$ it cost. They told me to get out with no food. so I waited there for a hour for them to kick me out. also extremely rude. GO TO THE PANTRY ON MAIN!!! It is way cheaper, 100 percent nicer and cleaner and only 5 minutes away. M&J is hands down the worst customer serves in NY and that's saying something. Here is a picture of the pantry on mains menu. Best place we have eaten in the Catskills. Great fresh bagels, and made to order sandwiches. I have tried the falafel wrap (my favorite) as well as the more mundane deli sandwiches, and they are all fresh and on point. At some point I am going to try the curry because I only assume it will also be right proper. Service is fairly quick and the people behind the counter are very helpful. I didn't notice tables but the place is fairly small so I wouldn't be surprised if it is strictly takeout. read more

DO NOT EVER GO HERE. Worst experience of my life. Waited an hour for 2 bagels and then asked for a refund and they still did not offer to make our bagels after that. I will never be going again and will be telling everyone I know never to go here. They are rude and do not care about their customers. After waiting past the hour they told me they will not make my 2 bagels after that since they already refunded me. Whatever you do DO NOT go here. The pantry on main is right down the street and EXTREMELY nicer and cleaner with great staff.and food. 0/10 review for M&J. read more

Bringing this up to 5 stars because we made a second trip here and I've been eating our half dozen of bagels throughout the week back at home. wow. Loving the asiago cheese everything bagel. Hidden (or not so hidden) gem! Right across from Hunter. I'm mad at myself for not knowing about this place all these years I have been coming to Hunter mountain! Their service is average but timely. Hunter mountain needed this spot. My Taylor ham egg and cheese on a roll hit the spot. My boyfriend got the Mexican wrap and said it was unexpectedly great (he didn't save a bite for me, we're still fighting about it). Staff was kind and patient and no complaints about the coffee. They have non-dairy options for those who don't drink milk as well. We hopped right over to the mountain on full bellies. read more

solid breakfast spot. nothing special good bagels. coming from the city im used to hole in the wall spots but this place is kind of dirty. my bagel had some sort of hair/fuzz on it. got some lox bagels and were mad pricey given the area upstate but also makes sense since its so close to the mountain. would stop by as a grab and go but prob wouldn't come back read more

Under new management, this spot offers a wide variety of choices for breakfast and lunch! They made me a special veggie cheesesteak and it was sooo good- and totally fair priced!!! When going to Hunter Mountain, this is the stop to make to save yourself some money from expensive (crappy) mountain food. Also, a great coffee station which is a plus! The staff is less than friendly, as a bagel shop, bagel choices are limited. No whitefish, lox or sturgeon. Nothing you would expect a bagel shop to be. Surprisingly uneventful. Plus, doesn't give a clean appearance. Two thumbs down!!! read more

Stopped in this past weekend to grab some breakfast while I was on the go headed back to Brooklyn. The smoothie was honestly amazing really good I didn't know what to expect because they didn't have a menu up of the smoothies. When I asked the worker he said a few of the smoothies and when I heard mango strawberry, pineapple I was like yeah that's the one lol, it was very filling and super tasty, I just wish their was a menu or ingredient list to see what I was consuming. I also grabbed a toasted plain bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, that was bomb and pretty filling I snacked on it my whole 3 and a half hours ride back to Brooklyn. They didn't load the bagel with schmear which I greatly appreciated because I would have felt more guilty lol this was my honestly my cheat meal in balance to the smoothie. I loved that the cashier came out from the back and handed me the smoothie and I didn't have to wait too long. The workers seem to work very well together and it's pretty organized. One of my favorite go to spots. Understated for sure. Fresh bagels come out of here most of the day and a great selection! Asiago everything is one of my favs and of course Salt bagels for days! Large enough menu that anyone should find something they like. They also serve some of their origin dishes and I love the Pakistan flavors! Did I mention the price of food is incredibly reasonable and most sandwiches come with a bag of chips so great lunch prep for hikes or days on the hill and such! read more

we came to Hunter Mtn for a little weekend vacation. We were looking for a place to get breakfast close by. I'm am BEYOND ESTATIC that we found M & J's. If you like Panera Breads's asiago bagels, you'll LOVE M & J's Asiago Everything bagels. It was fantastic!! I'm finding it hard to believe all the great service reviews based on the service I received today. I've actually never had a worse experience at a restaurant in my life. Customer service wasn't great but it was busy so i really didn't care. What was next level was when the cashier starts fighting with paying customers. First the cashier tells me he can't be bothered to make an iced latte because he's so busy on top of that he doesn't offer any alternatives and I was annoyed but moved on because I had somewhere to be l look around and everyone who already paid has their iced drinks so why did them and not me? So we ask for ice to make our own iced coffee SAY we will pay the up charge instead of just taking the $ and giving me the latte like he should have in the first place he snaps with a restaurant full of people instead of doing the right thing and eating the two/three dollar difference and having returning customers he takes the coffee from my hands and refunds me only for the coffee bc "I don't follow the rules I don't get coffee" as a full grown adult I don't get scolded by a business owner who should just know better. Really put a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the day and the fact that everyone else in the restaurant had to walk on eggshells after this guys blow out unacceptable and all could have been avoided if he would have offered the ice coffee to me like he did to the 7 other people in line in front of me and however many were there before me. And if the owner responds and Denys this there was a restaurant full of people as my witness who I hope never look at this man the same. Ur not just a restaurant owner and I'm not just a customer learn how to treat other humans like people. read more

We came to pick up bagel sandwiches for breakfast while staying at Kaatskill Mountain Club. It's conveniently located down the road from the lodge, so it's perfect for grabbing a hot, homemade breakfast before hitting the slopes of Hunter Mountain. Friendly staff! Food is okay. Customer service on the other hand was horrible specifically the girl named Terry who was working register and made my bagel this morning. She was very rude and asks me "what do you want" I told her my order and she proceeded to grab a bagel throw it in the toaster (for not even 30 seconds) and just slaps some cream cheese on it and basically throws it on the counter at me! Then after I pay she doesn't even say anything. Now if that was my employee, she'd be fired quick. The other people that work there are wonderful I've been going for years now. But I definitely wouldnt reccomend stopping in if shes working. read more

Horrible business. Our ticket was "lost" so our bagels never came out. They're using the same knife for every sandwich without cleaning it. Workers preparing food are scratching their heads while cutting bagels without wearing gloves. disgusting. We left without ever getting food. read more

Every item felt thoughtfully made, and it was clear why so many people rave about their bakery. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the pickup experience. I had a prepaid order of over $250 scheduled for 8:00 a.m. pickup, right when the café opened. We arrived about 15 minutes early.. because it was raining and simply hoped to wait somewhere covered until pickup time. We weren't expecting the order early or asking anyone to rush. Given the size of the order, the custom cake, and the fact that I had brought someone with me to help carry everything, we just wanted to avoid standing outside in the rain. When I knocked on the door, I could see several staff members inside. One employee looked at us and gestured toward the clock, essentially pointing out that they weren't open yet. I completely understand that we arrived early, and I respect opening hours. What bothered me was how the situation was handled. A simple "We'll be open at 8" or "Sorry, we can't let anyone in until opening" would have been perfectly reasonable. Instead, the interaction felt unnecessarily cold. Even once we were inside, the employee helping us came across as dismissive and unwelcoming. My husband ordered the tile fish and I ordered the butternut squash risotto, which was out of this world. I was so full I had to force myself to stop eating it it was that good. Every bite was perfect. For a restaurant in the Catskills, I had no idea how the food would be and it turned out to be a major highlight of the trip. Service: 5/5 Zero complaints Ambiance: 5/5 The restaurant is very quiet and relaxing. The interior fits perfectly in the Catskills with all wood and a few fireplaces and floor to ceiling windows views of the mountains.

It wasn't too busy when we arrived in middle of the afternoon, and we were warmly greeted. You place your order at the counter and then seat yourself. Water and cups are out too. I went with the Pad Thai ($27 with chicken) and also got to try some of the fried chicken ($17), a special. Prices seemed a little high but the dishes were delicious, with portions being reasonable and the Pad Thai not being overwhelmingly sweet. The fried chicken was magically crunchy outside and moist inside, with an irresistible dipping sauce not too cilantro-y. The Windham Local has a parking lot off to the side, but there was ample street parking too. And a shop proprietor later told us that The Windham Local is her place to eat in town!

I read on their website while planning the weekend that they are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and have live music on the weekends. It looks like they do it all. We stopped in early and had our choice of tables. The space is big, clean and perfectly calm. Great spot for a slow breakfast. After ordering at the counter, they brought everything over to our table. I got the oatmeal bowl. Delicious and simple. However, I couldn't help but steal many many bites of the breakfast burrito. Seriously, get it! A great spot with good food, a friendly team and a cozy vibe.

The mac & cheese ($14) was a delightful appetizer made with a whopping five different cheeses! Last Chance mentions both antiques and cheese in its name so we had to investigate both. Instead of a separate shop, the antiques are all around the restaurant, and our server said some are for sale and some belong to the owner's private collection but he seems possibly open to offers. The cheese and gifts are in an area on the other side of the bar, with the cheese behind a counter. I thought the cheese collection would be larger and have more NY options, but it was still a solid selection. If you plan on purchasing any candy or other treats after your meal, just let your server know so you can take your bill over there.
