Been watching them work on this place for months, and finally made it here now that it is open. Had the scallops and the prawn and crab toast to stay. Scallops were ok, but nothing memorable. In general, I have a problem with prawns in the UK (I'm American, I am used to shrimp with some size to them), so the prawn toast was covered in these tiny little prawns and a little crab. Flavor was good, but I'll never write a good review of prawns anywhere in the UK, so I'll give it a pass. For the mains I had the pork belly and my friend had the short rib burger. The pork belly was a generous portion and was pork belly perfection... crispy crackling and tender, moist pork. My friend loved the burger, and loved it. The down note of the meal was the mac and cheese... the macaroni was way overcooked, and I could picture Gordon Ramsey going nuts if he tried it or someone served it to him. The scene is really great there too... high ceilings and huge windows. I'd recommend it, but be warned... it is not cheap. read more

I came in here during a quiet time and so I got excellent service. The place is cavernous! I liked the vibe, would be perfect for a date. I was feeling fairly budget conscious so I only ordered 2 sides, both of which were very tasty. The mixed beans in particular were v good - if a tiny bit overseasoned. The juice I ordered was labelled as 'fresh' and when I asked if it was squeezed there the waiter got a bit confused. It's not squeezed on site, be warned - in case you thought you were getting a truly fresh dose... Loos are clean and kind of weird looking with mesh doors. It would be interesting to see what the place is like during the evening... I'd return, but ideally on someone else's dime ;) read more

I just cannot knock Gordon Ramsey. Seriously, when it comes to food this man knows what he is doing. Everything I tasted made me feel like I was on a food high... I mean just how do you get asparagus to make a person feel high!! Staff are polite and friendly, yet are witty to be able to have a joke with. Without it interfering with the timing of your food arriving at your table. Modern yet cosy feel to the restaurant, owing to the brick work still being visible and the colours used. Plus the seating is close but just spacious enough to make you feel like you are not encroaching in another space... all the while there is a vibrant atmosphere created by that subtle closeness. read more

Hubby and I came in here after a hard couple hours of shopping -- it was between this and ping pong and ultimately bread street won ;) We had a quick bite and drink at the bar but found the bar staff quite lovely and engaging. I had a grey goose bloody mary (asked for it spicy and YUMMY it was!) and my hubby had a glass of tempranillo. we had the crisps which were super good as well as the tamarind chicken wings. they were both a good light bite on our way home. Get a table on the first floor - and you'll be in a grand space with a little touch of urban. I went here for a Saturday brunch and it could not have been better for that lazy day. My king crab omelette was delicious and being a huge fan of crab I could see that they haven't added the crab to save a bad omelette - it was there - the king of the dish! I visited this restaurant two days ago and When i went in, none of the waiter or waitress greeted me. After waiting in the gate for long hours without being guided to seat, i was calling out "excuse me" but they kept ignoring me. ( there were some empty tables in the restaurant) Eventually i got tired and as i was about to leave i saw one of the waiter or waitress smirking at me. This was probably our favorite restaurant in London!We went twice, once for brunch and then again for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. The brunch was phenomenal. Our whole group raved over the pancakes and the scrambled eggs, that were cooked to perfection. However, the real treat at Bread Street is the Beef Wellington. Everyone thought that the flavor profile was intricate, and that the beef was cooked perfectly. Also, the staff took extra care to make sure his birthday was extra special. I've been trying to get my friends to venture east for brunch here for several months now, after I walked past it and saw how nice it is inside. They finally agreed last week and it was fabulous! What you see from the window is just the start. When you walk upstairs to the restaurant you're presented with a beautifully decorated environment that's reminiscent of a 1930's coffee house, or at least what I imagine one might look like. The food is great, with fresh, complimentary bread and excellent service. There's live music on Sundays that adds to the atmosphere and it's generally a fantastic experience. Another stop on my eating tour of London (while working of course!!!). Initially, I was a bit put off as we seemed to be going into a large shopping mall to get to the restaurant... I had that "Emeril's at Universal Studios" flashback from a previous business trip years ago. :) I digress. The space is beautiful if loud, the wine list is expansive and the staff is pleaseant and attentive. For those of you who take special note of fit and finish these bathrooms are gorgeous! As for the food, it was very well done and well presented. Colleagues ate the Cod special and I ordered the John Dory special. The fish was perfectly cooked and delightfully flavored. My team and I went here for lunch, and it was a pleasant surprise. The bunch of us each ordered a starter and a main. I ordered the king crab California rolls as my starter, then the pork belly for my main. I absolutely loved the rolls. Not only was there a healthy amount of delicious crab on each of the six pieces of rolls but the also, the soya sauce dip added a perfect sesame-scented touch to the overall delight of this dish. As for the pork belly, it was solid though felt a bit too much/heavy at times. Perhaps, it would have been better if they served slightly less and instead offered more sides to go with the plate (as of now, you have to order all the sides separately). Service was good, though it did take them longer than what I would have expected for a party of ten people. Ambience was also solid -- somewhat reminiscent of Hawksmoor but a brighter version of it. This ticked the 2nd celebrity chef off of my list...only one left that I must go visit is John Besh in New Orleans (oh darn!). Bread Street Kitchen is amazing. The venue is noisy but you expect it to be...it's an after work haven for the 'suits' from just a few short blocks (or tube ride) away. We started with the scallop appetizer...amazing. I'd had an unfortunate scallop incident over 5 years ago (maybe more like 10?) and hadn't been able to stomach them since, but the sprinkling of treacle bacon made me give it a try...and I'm back to eating scallops! I don't like carrots, but the carrot puree was amazing and added a divine sweetness to the scallops. And the treacle bacon? Well there wasn't a lot of it, but let's just say that I'm now curing my own treacle bacon on a regular basis! The burger...mmmmmm. Tender and juicy and full of flavor. That said, I asked for it with no sauce and got a lovely smearing of sauce on the bottom bun. Guilty though I felt...I sent the bottom bun back and asked for a new one! I didn't want anything to sully the food...special requests being messed up, I can deal with...to a degree! We also had the dessert which I can't remember but it was tasty...overall a wonderful shi-shi meal in London. Just what I expected...though I wish Chef Ramsay had been there to call me a fat donkey or something! :-) Even though their site says you don't need reservations...make one. We sat at the bar upstairs for at least 15 minutes with no attention while we waited. The Sous Chef was charming, but she couldn't give us drinks or whatnot...so we just had to settle for the entertainment of watching her create the art that is her food! Trendy but unpretentious restaurant, with well-prepared and tasty food. I'm a fan. Went with a group of about ten people. Although a pricey restaurant, the scene wasn't stuffy at all. Just a little bit loud-- not great for conversation, but luckily I wasn't in the mood for it. The menu was simple with a nice of range of options-- including veggie and seafood. I ordered the salmon ceviche and it was sooo yummy. The salmon was very thinly sliced, nicely salted, with just the right amount of citrus. It was not fishy tasting at all, but light and refreshing. The portion was also quite big-- unless you're a very big eater, you could share this dish. For the main, I ordered the braised lamb. It was a huge dish, really well cooked and nicely dressed. Mashed potatoes on the side weren't memorable. FYI For halal eaters out there, the lamb is from New Zealand so you might be okay with it. Service was fine. what i liked: 1. The Ambiance 2. The chunky french fries I went with a party of 5 (with 3 adults and 2 children ages 11 & 13) for dinner... it definitely is not a family restaurant.... Dinner time attracts business professionals and the young adult crowd. It is a very nice space upstairs. I loved the high ceilings and openness of the entire dining area. The ambiance is absolutely perfect here and definitely impressive and has a new york feel inside, However, i was a bit disappointed with the food particularly the surf and turf isn't the best. For appetizers we ordered the carpaccio (good), scallops (good), flatbread pizza (not that great)~ For Entrees we order a couple of surf and turfs (was very disappointed in the thin steaks. Not what i would have expected. I had the Duck breast which was really good but needed more cranberry sauce. The duck was fantastic but just a bit too salty for me personally. BUT...the thick cut crispy chips (french fries) were by far the BEST i've had around town. I might go back for drinks and dinner just for the ambiance. It's a really nice space. read more

Went there on the first Saturday evening since the opening this is the evening of truth for every restaurant. To take the conclusion first: It was a great experience! You enter via the bar and step up to the restaurant it's huge, it's industrial, it's modern, it's vibrant. Very friendly staff and hundreds of them! The menu is fantastic including the wood stone where they finish various dishes. It's the kind of food, which you would expect from Gordon in such a location here are some examples, we had: Carpaccio of Octopus: a little nothing with absolute fantastic taste Steamed bass: perfect, what a taste Grilled halibut: amazing, grilled to perfection Suckling pig (in the wood oven): a real experience Our favorite: the braised pork collar this is unbelievable good And last but not least: the hand-cut chips. For me these are the worldwide standard, how chips should be made the best I ever had. All in all, for the 4 of us it was 180,- including drinks (some beers, no wine). Worth every penny, because you don't just eat there you look around and you can't get enough of the flair of this location with the open kitchen. This restaurant and Jamie's Barbecoa (which sit's aside this one) are for me the future of exciting dining! Great job could't imaging it better. One small criticism (I now it's the first week): Too many waiters. The main waitress was great, she was able to answer all questions on the food in detail. I booked a table in advance for my girlfriends birthday. There's a certain amount of pressure that comes with booking a table for a birthday dinner: you kinda don't want to mess that one up by picking a place that will serve you microwave popcorn and flat coke. We arrived 45 minutes early and from that moment on the service was by far the best I've ever had in London. I was carrying flowers for my girlfriend and the staff immediately offered to put them safely away while friendly welcoming us to the restaurant. Even though we were early, they got us a table on the spot. The place itself is decorated with tremendous good taste and the tall windows all around make it feel gigantic. Our table was opposite the open kitchen but we never felt the rush of waiters running back and forward - everything was perfectly organised and if anything, it was impressive how they handle so many customers so quickly and with so much quality. Every member of the staff who attended to was was knowledgeable, fast and efficient. They made timely recommendations and were polite and friendly. The food itself was lovely. Perfect portion size, freshly made, fully flavored, great presentation. Strongly recommend the slow roasted pork with apple sauce (and top that with some delicious hand cut chips!). The desserts and coffee were also top quality, with the strawberry sorbet wrapping up a perfect meal. The price is what you expect from the place - around £40 pp. But if you want to make sure you are getting your moneys worth then this is a very safe bet. 5 stars. read more

Love the atmosphere, the food takes a while to come. There are lots of choices. I had partridge when i first came (which was the night's special at the time) which tastes ok. The brunch menu is mostly all eggs as expected! but you should try their steak and eggs..the steak was v juicy so i loved it, the chips that came with it was great too. read more

Came here because we had a slightly bigger than usual party size and most of the posh-kind of restaurants only accepted party sizes of maximum 6 (or 7). :( Anyway, loved the interior and the general atmosphere of the place. The waiting staff were well-dressed, the bar looks friggin' awesome (they had to use ladders to reach some of the wine bottles) and there were microscopes (ones that you used in your high school science lab) decorating some of the tables. A really laid-back yet still classy kind of place that you can choose to dress up or down without feeling out of place. Location's perfect - somewhere in the City, close to St. Paul's and stone's throw from several high st. clothes stores. As for the food - like the amount of stars I've given - it's just A-OK. I've never had stomach for starters and am not a big fan of meat so I was pleasantly surprised by the fish choices - ordered sea trout and shared a side (mac + cheese). The sea trout was decently-cooked, nothing spectacular, and the broth was really salty so that made everything else slightly saltier than usual. The mac + cheese had a crunchier taste because of the fried onions but otherwise, it was a decent kind of mac + cheese (you really can't go wrong with mac + cheese). To get a varied and more unbiased opinion of the restaurant, I asked my friends what they thought of their meals, the one who I shared the mac + cheese with ordered sea bream said the taste was equivalent to catered hall food (which is seriously bad). another who had the cod fish said it was mediocre at best. LOL. Moral of the story, don't order the fish when you visit. :) Oh well - at least the bread served at the start was decent. read more

The BSK Burger at Bread Street Kitchen is a Gordon Ramsay creation. The patty has short rib in it and is very juicy as a result. A slice of Monterey Jack cheese is melted atop it and piled with pickles and a smoked tomato ketchup. On the bottom is a mayo lettuce slaw of sorts that gives the burger a creamy and savory texture. A soft bun that holds it all together is very neutral and allows the beef's saltiness and the ketchup's vinegar and salt to contrast with the creamy slaw. Gordon took a risk contrasting these flavors and it works quite effortlessly with top quality ingredients. read more

We came here for dinner and rushed for our 6pm reservation. It was a disappointment to find that their was a problem with the kitchen therefore leaving us with a reduced menu selection. We agreed to eat anyway since we had come all this way to try a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. This was supposed to be the most casual and newest one out of all of them. Pros: Beautiful Restaurant Fancy Feel Nice Decoration The soup. Average: Decent Service Everyone well mannered and nice Food came out in a timely matter Highchairs are great to have, but not when they are only suitable for older kids. There's no leg separation insert, so a smaller baby could just slip straight through. Good thing we brought our own portable chair for our 9 month old. Cons: The food. There were 2 meats on the menu... Lamb shank and a roasted chicken. The rest was all seafood. We tried the mullet, sea bream, soup, chicken and one more other fish. All were over cooked and under seasoned. Basically not seasoned at all. The bread was pre toasted and sitting for a long time under a heat lamp, which led to very hard bread. 2 pounds per person is added to your bill just for dining in. 12.5% service charge is added to your bill on top of the already included taxes and fees. Water. We didn't request anything fancy. Just regular water from refilled glass bottles. 2 pounds per bottle... 5 bottles... 10 pounds added to our bill for regular water for 6 adults! We complained and had this removed. Other notes: Something else to note is that this place is really loud. For a place that is supposed to have a nicer ambiance, it is very very loud. You can barely hear yourself talking. The food, we expected to be more impressive and frankly it was disappointing. The plating was just ok. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you aren't going for the food. read more

We're huge Gordon Ramsay fans and made reservations to eat here during our trip to London. We were specifically looking forward to the beef wellington, which we'd seen Gordon cook so often on his shows and which we had cooked once at home ourselves. The wellington was beautifully cooked, served a solid medium rare, and the pastry was delectable. Only complaint is that the meat itself was a bit tough, like they didn't use beef of high quality. Bread Street Kitchen is a blast! My wife and I were visiting London recently and decided upon this place one evening. As we approached Bread Street we became somewhat disoriented (being our first time in the city and that neighborhood). I commented "Wow, that glass building over there looks awesome!" Turns out, that was Bread Street Kitchen. The restaurant contains a downstairs bar, which we saw as soon as we walked in. We walked up the stairs to the restaurant, and it was gorgeous. A very modern design and surprisingly large! The wait staff was very attentive and helpful. We were greeted by a manger halfway through our meal who just wanted to make sure everything was going well. The food was delicious at Bread Street. We started with the tamarind chicken wings, which were spicy and delicious. I had the burger and my wife had the duck and we were both very pleased. The meat was prepared very well and each dish was extremely flavorful. We would definitely come back! read more

I was first on opening day for Breakfast and almost the last to leave when I returned for dinner so definitely had more of a feel for the overall Bread Street Kitchen experience than most, With over 700 people booked for the first day I am glad I had the early day experience which would give a better idea how service would run under normal circumstances then what some other reviews have been based on during 'Rush Hour' Evening with over 200 Customers eating at any one time including the usual first day river of papa'rat'zi reviewers and self-proclaimed 'expert' bloggers trying to make a name for themselves by trying to find criticism in every twisted perverse way they can whilst actually forgetting the food, Ambiance, Decor or the mostly good elements of service! Ok Breakfast first which someone has done an amazing Job sourcing as is literally the best of everything-For those who have had the fortune of indulging in breakfast at Planefood at T5 you will know what I'm talking about It's the reason why since T5 has opened I have never taken a flight from any other terminal even if the cost of the flight was hundreds more! Service at breakfast was pretty much flawless considering 1st day a pretty mean feat with the place gradually filling. Onto dinner and an amazing great Value menu, The dearest item for main is a Massive Rib eye steak at £29 on par with my favourite steak haunts Hawksmoor and Goodman the difference was around £10 behind the above mentioned on price and taste ahead of a certain 'cooks' restaurant opposite. Who is meant to pride himself on the ability to source and cook a steak correctly! That was the most expensive item most were around the £15 mark my fiancée had the Sea Bass at £18 and my friend Gordon's amazing Short Rib burger one of the best I have sampled and at £11 making his starter and main less than £20!! Most of the starters are around £10, As you would expect from Ramsay establishment this gets you amazing fresh produce combined into a taste tantalising combination which excites and intrigues the palette. Carpaccio of octopus capers and black olives with saffron , Stone Bass, Avocado, horseradish and ginger, my choice was thinly sliced Lancashire beef, Barigoule vegetables, and quail's eggs all I can say is organic orgasmic ! So to sum up Dinner at an average of around £30 for 2 courses you would be hard pushed to find such value in the surrounding area and the quality and taste combination's just blow its competitors somewhere into the Thames! Wines and Champagnes they have a well-chosen and great value list , Bollinger Rose for eighty something pounds makes any celebration affordable. Then there is the restaurant itself £5m to launch it's for a reason, It simply is one of the most stunning sensational design in the city everything is reclaimed and extremely fun and funky I loved it. There are some great view points if you want to check out what's going on and seating that a lot of thought went into so that big groups are cosy 2's can be comfortable. . When in London last June, we had lunch here as per a colleague's recommendation. My husband had a flavorful cod dish, and I had a beet tart. The tart was both sweet and tangy, with ample amounts of goat cheese. The interior of this place has a unique warehouse feel. This is a Gordon Ramsay restaurant although this information was not explicitly plastered throughout (which was nice). However this aspect may be why reservations are always needed, and there are rules about how long you can linger, as detailed on the restaurant's website. read more

Best brunch in London! This is one of those places where you savor every bite because it is so damn good. We've been here multiple times with friends visiting from the States. Our table typically includes the egg scramble and pancakes, you can't go wrong with either. To top it off, they have a do-it-yourself Bloody Mary bar. The brunch food alone warrants 5 stars, but the wait staff is less than attentive. An added bonus is that they are kid friendly, as are most of Ramsay's more casual restaurants. We always talk about returning for dinner, but haven't followed through yet. read more

For appetizers we got the Potted salt beef brisket. It was tender and delicious. For the main I got the Pork Belly. It was cooked to perfection and the flavor was amazing. For dessert I got the Toffee Pudding. It was my first time ever trying STP and I was pleasantly surprised. Disappointed that Sunday Roast was out at 5:30pm on a Sunday night. My second choice was the cod and it was delicious. My husband ordered a burger and since he wasn't asked how the burger should be cooked, it came medium well. Kids ate free when adults order main entree. Great family restaurant. Not too thrilled about the order charge, but since the kids meal were free, the $6 order charge wasn't bad. Restaurant also has a free PhotoBooth, so that was an added bonus at he end of the night. read more
