Best brunch in London! This is one of those places where you savor every bite because it is so damn good. We've been here multiple times with friends visiting from the States. Our table typically includes the egg scramble and pancakes, you can't go wrong with either. To top it off, they have a do-it-yourself Bloody Mary bar. The brunch food alone warrants 5 stars, but the wait staff is less than attentive. An added bonus is that they are kid friendly, as are most of Ramsay's more casual restaurants. We always talk about returning for dinner, but haven't followed through yet. read more

I am a huge Gordon Ramsey fan so I was looking forward to experiencing this restaurant. The decor and ambiance were great. It was a very comfortable and relaxing setting. For appetizers we got the Potted salt beef brisket. It was tender and delicious. For the main I got the Pork Belly. It was cooked to perfection and the flavor was amazing. For dessert I got the Toffee Pudding. It was my first time ever trying STP and I was pleasantly surprised. For drinks throughout the night I had a Bread Street G&T, Grapefruit Blossom and a Cappuccino. Everything was great including the service. I highly recommended coming here if in the area. read more

If you goto breadstreet thinking you will get a petrus experience forget it. was clear from start this is aimed at a different Market. It's loud and fun food is a massive surprise as there are so many interesting combinations and taste wonderful. Service is what you would expect from somewhere that seats 250, but still helpful and friendly. If you see reviews like I did saying about pigs head starter being unsightly and bad taste it's a person who has not been here as the pigs head starter looks like 4 croquet potatoes with a filling there is no animals head at all. Disappointed that Sunday Roast was out at 5:30pm on a Sunday night. My second choice was the cod and it was delicious. My husband ordered a burger and since he wasn't asked how the burger should be cooked, it came medium well. Kids ate free when adults order main entree. Great family restaurant. Not too thrilled about the order charge, but since the kids meal were free, the $6 order charge wasn't bad. Restaurant also has a free PhotoBooth, so that was an added bonus at he end of the night. read more

In spite of the very kind waiters and nice decoration (until you look at the ceiling which they clearly didn't bother to do up, "pipes look cool"), I felt like being completely ripped off at Bread Street Kitchen. From a broad and slightly unsettling range of choices, I had the sea bream, which tasted nice but pretty bland; dishes come with no sides so you have to order them for 5-6GBP on top of the 20-25GBP price for the mains, even for the burger (22 quid for a lone burger on a plate!) or fish & chips which others at my table ordered and ended up tasting very average. My side was advertised as "Brie and Truffle home-made potato mash" but was clearly plain old mash straight from the box, definitely no Brie or Truffle included. Really disappointing, especially when I learnt this was supposed to be a Gordon Ramsey restaurant - quality would have been the same if not better at Byron just next door. Sides and mains arrived around 5-10 minutes separately and not all of us got our mains at the same time so your food was getting cold while you waited. This was then topped up by a 12.5% service charge so we ended up paying 45GBP per person for very plain food and one drink each. There are plenty of other places in London that serve high quality dining for that price range - I would for example recommend Balthazar in Covent Garden. It is no surprise mid-high range restaurants such as Bread Street are struggling, it is merely surfing on the name of a celebrity and prime location but offering none of the quality. read more

After eating here last night and quite enjoying my night, i visited yelp to see how others enjoyed their meal, and was quite shocked by the reviews. The restaurant is a very classy but casual decor, with dark woods and mustard colored leather booths lining the grand 'cafeteria' layout of this fashionably retro restaurant. My girlfriend and i were seated at a rather awkward table, and after seeing me unconfortably try to squeeze into a seat next to my girlfriend, the hostess asked if we'd like a better table, subsequently being seated comfortably in a booth, looking upon the cooks madily dishing out gourmet food. We were promptly given bread and butter (notably delicious) and menus. Being a college student, the menu prices were quite expensive, but happy that i was in such an aromatic smelling restaurant, i decided to splurge. I got the chicken wings as a starter ( wonderful flavor, perfect amount of crunch) the cheeseburger (cheapest item on the menu, but was thick, unique, and delectable), chips ( which were wedge cut and crispy, but i had to ask for salt and ketchup as they were fairly bland) and the pineapple desert with passion fruit seeds and coconut sorbet (delicious combination of flavours). My girlfriend who is a vegetarian got the eggplant penne which i took a bite of and was happy with the amount of flavor. Overall, i had a very enjoyable night here. The service was good, (likely improved since our last reviewers) and the food was excellent. The only reason this place did not recieve 5 stars is due to the price of some of the main dishes (45 pounds for a steak?) and because i really couldnt understand a word my waitress said (speech impediment?). Was hoping the food would make up for the poor atmosphere and the cost ($$$). Remember time is precious, don't waste it on sub-par food in a bad atmosphere, we had 11 people there and barely could hear each other talk. The reason you go out is to be pampered... getting served, enjoying better food than you can cook yourself at home, and enjoying it all in a refreshing, rejuvenating environment. Expectation is to receive all of that, but all excellently executed. Gordon Ramsay Bread Street falls far short in each and every category except the wait staff they were truly excellent. I'm genuinely surprised by the positive reviews. I went for breakfast on a Sunday and found a good few gripes with the place. First of all I must say how stunning Bread St Kitchen is: whoever the interior designer was did a fantastic job - it's just like sitting in 60's New York. No complaints there. However, the service really let it down for me. The food is not out-of-this-world-amazing, which is unfortunate as that would have been the only thing to distract from the distinctly strange waiters. When we were first seated, the staff actually avoided coming over to us to take even the drinks orders - this on a very very quiet early Sunday morning, when there were perhaps only 2 more couples in the restaurant. I dread to think what it's like on a weekend night. When we were finally noticed and given the menus, we were told to hurry up with the order, and our waiter stood right by our table whilst we attempted to read and decide and communicate our order within 60 seconds. The (overpriced) food came swiftly but inexpicably still managed to be cold. This is when the service became even stranger - having ignored us for large stretches of time, they then wouldn't leave us alone to eat. We were asked 3 times how our food was within about 2 minutes, and without any of them bringing the sauces that we had asked for when the food arrived! Very frustrating. They also stood by our table with the credit card machine when they brought the bill, which was not only disconcerting but also very rude. On a brighter note, I must admit that the spinach was absolutely fantastic. However, I'm afraid that I don't have the patience or cash to go to this place again, no matter how lovely the interior is. My wife and I are on vacation and after a long day at the Tower of London and she made reservations for dinner at 7 pm on Sunday. We arrived and the place looked closed. No it wasn't, just not that many people in there. It should have been a sign. We started with the potted brisket appetizer. Not bad and the pickled vegetables on the side were nice. For the entrees we tried to order the pork belly only to be told that they were out. How do you run out out of that dish at 7 pm? So my wife ordered the cod with caramelized onions. After the pork belly disappointment I asked the waiter about the rib filet. He said you can get it medium rare or well done. Great, either perfect or like shoe leather. I ordered medium rare. It arrived and was, well like shoe leather. And it was only two slices that we about as thick as a piece of cardboard. For the cost it was a crazy small portion. On to the tastes...the cod was very good (and a decent size portion unlike the rib fillet) on a bed of potatoes The rib beef gravy was quite nice as it was made with bone marrow and shallots. Again the beef was tough and wayyyy overcooked. Ok, so we are not blown away but liked the dinner, then we got our check. On it was a optional 1£ charge for a food bank and a 2£ per person cover charge. Wait, what? A cover charge for a Sunday night when there was maybe 25 people there. Simply crazy. I could understand a cover on busy nights but Sunday? Gordon, get here quick and fix this mess. read more

Took my family here for dinner on a trip to London in June based on a recommendation from a business associate. This was going to be our one "high-end" meal during our visit so we were really looking forward to the dining experience. We had an early reservation and the place was pretty empty - of course that did not stop them from seating up right on top of another couple. First off the wait staff seemed very green -- and rather awkward - it was just off. We ordered drinks and my son hesitated a moment trying to decide what and if he wanted - the waiter totally missed this and just walked off without taking his order. I had ordered a premium liquor martini - it had to be the smalled martini I have ever seen! To add insult to injury it was so watered down that it virtually had no flavor. Even after drinking a second I felt as if I had just had two glasses of water. Usually after two martinis I am having trouble sitting up! Our appetizers arrived - forget what they were - but they were fine. My daughter and I had ordered a salad in addition to our entree. When our entrees arrived I mentioned that we had ordered salads and before I could say we no longer wanted them since our meal was there - the waiter said they were coming! A minute later he plopped a salad down in front of us. We were then faced with letting our hot meal get cold while we ate our salad or just tackle both of them. This is what I mean about the service - it was just very inexperienced and not up to par with the image this restaurant is trying to project - and certainly not the prices that they are charging. Bottom line: good to very good food - very small portions - very high prices. Wait staff appears to have been on the job for about 2 days -- I could forgive it if it was just one of the staff --but for some reason we had about 3 or 4 staff at one time or another -- and they all seemed somewhat lost and stumbling over themselves. I think maybe Gordon needs to start having one of his tantrums when he is there next. My advice - save your money and go elsewhere - there are much better restaurants in London for the price. Came Sunday afternoon for drinks in the middle of a London walking tour. the tour was a little dry so 5 of us snuck off to find something more exciting and stumbled across Bread Street Kitchen. The bar itself is very spacious with lots of light. it has a cool vibe along with allot of random features. i.e like a viewing platform above the bar (for people watching?) and the facts that the seats on our bench were 2 x Pommel horse (think Olympic gymnastics). the girls were very happy with their wine and i had the chance to try 3 different craft beers which is great to see in London. on our second round we ordered some fries and they arrived with small little pots of brown sauce and ketchup...nice touch! Quick glance: + faultless cooking + hospitable service + fun décor in NY deli-style - small portions - dull (to the point of awful) presentation - not value for money A friend and I came to Bread Street Kitchen for lunch on a Monday. We have pre-booked a table for 12:30pm and were promptly led upstairs to our wobbly table. Before I had a chance to say something about it, the maître d noticed and had this fixed by one of the waitresses. Soon after we ordered our drinks (but before our food), a couple of mini bread loaves arrived in a cylindrical basket with soft, melty butter. Good start so far. Our food came quickly but I was disappointed by the portion size and the presentation. I had the tuna with parsnip mash and peppercorn sauce (£19), which came with crispy slices of parsnip as decoration but I found the whole dish really brown and didn't look particularly appetising. My friend ordered the burger (£12) which arrived on its own with no flair and looked not too dissimilar to what one could get at GBK or Byron's but without the trimmings, although my friend did say it tasted nice. Presentation aside, the yellow fin tuna I had was fresh and delicious, beautifully seared on both sides although the slices were rather thin. The parsnip mash was smooth and creamy, and peppercorn sauce acceptable (although I am lucky that my other half can make a sauce that taste just as good). For the price of £50 for two at lunch (for two mains, a side, a glass of house white and an orange juice, including 12.5% 'discretionary' tip added to the bill), I thought it was expensive given the presentation and portion size. There are certainly many restaurants in and around London where you can get same quality of food but either better presentation or bigger size (or both) for that money. Overall, it is a banker's dig due to its proximity to the City of London (financial district) and therefore the high price might not be a deterrent for most. The restaurant offers good quality cooking (and some nice-looking cocktails, especially the dessert cocktails) but there are better haunts in London for good food at that price. read more

If I could give 3.5 stars I would, but I am rounding it up to 4. When we were first seated, it took almost 10 minutes for any staff to come check on us, give us menus, drinks, etc. Not to mention there were only like 2 other tables of people in the whole restaurant. My dad, being always outspoken about issues, mentioned to the server about our long wait because he didn't want it to happen more. After he mentioned it, the service became much better and they were constantly attentive to our needs. The food was pretty good for us but I did see other reviews of people with terrible stories about the food or even calling it inedible. Amazing food and even better service! Best steak of my life. I wish more restaurants in the U.S. could follow the example of bread street kitchen. We had to wait a little longer than their norm (which we were willing to do because it was busy). We were given a complimentary appetizer, and the meal was served 15 minutes later. Apparently there was some turmoil in the kitchen, so the dessert we wanted would take a bit longer to prepare (again, we were okay with waiting). Sure enough, a complimentary dessert was brought our way. We didn't mention it to our server or anyone, but we happen to be visiting London on our honeymoon. We will definitely be making a return visit every time we come here, as our stay was definitely enhanced by Bread Street! read more

Had a great dinner at Bread Street Kitchen, the staff was quite friendly and knowledgeable and although not cheap, I would say that this is one of the better options for a good meal in the city. The menu is diverse and vegetarian friendly and the wine list is superb, with good bottles starting at £30. The interior design has an early 1900s industrial feel which fits the surrounding buildings and is trendy but not pretentious. read more

It was good, but it didn't measure up to the hype. An attractive decor and very happening place. Some of the food was fantastic and other dishes we found to be average. We expected a little more considering that Gordon Ramsey has got his name on the place, but just like any restaurant anywhere they are bound to have their good and bad days. Some of the staff behind the bar seemed more intent on playing around than to tending to customers. The waitstaff was very responsive however and we still had a good time here though we found it to be excessively priced. Worth one visit, but now we've been there and done that. read more

This place is huge, located in an old warehouse. Its incredible. Great ambience, delicious cocktails. Highly recommend going on a Sunday so you can have the sunday roast, huge yummy portions which is nice as it is a bit pricey. My girlfriend and I are fans of Gordon Ramsay. We made reservations to go to bread street kitchen tonight and were really excited to finally try the famous beef wellington. The night started great with the hostess being so nice to us. The bar was great, but thats when it stopped being so great. As soon as we were seated, our waitress seem not to have an interest in us -which I find strange since GR talks about the importance of service. We asked for beef wellington, but the waitress said they are out but are making a fresh batch in 45 mins. When we asked to wait for it, we were told it was to be a two and a half hour wait. Persoanlly, i understand it is hard to prepare, but running that short at 1900 on a saturday during the holidays is a bit rediculous. Since it was what she was there for to begin with, it is inevitable that my girlfriend would be extreamly upset. Decided, since we couldn't get what we came for,that we get steak. Lets just say that the veggies were bland, the mac and cheese okay, and the steak good but not worth the price. Another issue was that the steak was over cooked. Well, half of it medium rare, and the other medium. It took us waving down other waiters for water and to pay our bill. This was very fustrating. Overall, i would say don't go here and save your money.You pay way to mucn for what you are getting and the food is not worth the price. Go to the portobello market for a falafle wrap instead. Went here with a friend last night for dinner. Atmosphere is great, vibe is good, interior decor is edgy. Being in St. Paul's it seems a bit out of place (would do better in a buzzier location for a Friday night) and the restaurant is way too big for its own good. Food was good. Nothing to rave about nothing to complain about. Reading the menu there was nothing that jumped out at me that I was like "I must have that" and I would NOT recommend the English Sparkling Wine we had. Desserts were very tasty. Made a special visit to Gordon Ramsey's establishment while on vacation in London. The restaurant has an interesting layout. We were excited to try the acclaimed Shortrib burger. The waitress was totally disengaged. No attention to detail, water glasses ran dry, bread ran out .... No waitress in-sight! Food arrived, still no refreshments forth coming. Not once were we asked about the food or whether we needed something. Food was below average ... Nothing to write home about. Very disappointing. The pinnacle of dissatisfatication came when the bill arrived. A service charge was included ... There was NO service...???? Hence no effort by the staff to please. We went to the Bread St Kitchen on the day it was open to the public so as you would expect there were delays and mix ups that were quickly corrected. The waitstaff were excellent and well picked. Chef Ramsey was there the whole time we were and said hi and even served my husband his dessert that was delayed. The atmosphere was urban but relaxing. The only odd part was the bar is street level and the dinning room upstairs so we thought it wasn't open yet because the bar was empty. Too bad it isn't in New England USA so we could go again tonight. Oh I forgot to mention the food! It was excellent! And not RAW Lol!!! read more

I was lucky enough to be here on a snowy Sunday late morning with my wonderful friends and lovely sisters (DDCM) We were greeted by a sweet young man who happily took our luggage and directed us to a women who took us to our table. An immediate warm welcome and the amazing decor was very comforting.. Mimosas were soon flowing.. Except for D &M they had coffee Our team of waiters were very attentive. The chicken Sunday Roast was SIMPLY SPECTACULAR!! (I regret I did not "take away "the the bit that was left ) Topped off with a glass of wine ! ( D & M joined in ) The entire decor ,look of the bar ,the floors and the Christmas decorations a plus! Would have been a real bonus to run into GORDON and should have entered the photo booth!!! I recently traveled to London, England on a school trip. On this "trip of a lifetime" I experienced a multitude of great things. Going to Gordon Ramsey's restaurant Bread Street Kitchen was one of my most memorable experiences on my trip for outstanding reasons and dissatisfying reasons, it unfortunately lacked in the service it lacked to provide for any price level. Despite myself being able to consume such remarkable food from the world's best aged beef cheeseburger (IMO) to the chocolate pudding cake for desert, the service made my experience extremely dissatisfying. I was strongly looked down upon by the waiter and he presented himself to be very stuck up and impolite to my fellow classmates and I. Like a normal human, he made a mistake, but instead of correcting the mistake he made it far worse. I had ordered a side of mashed potatoes as did the person sitting next to me. He forgot the person's next to me mashed potatoes. He then had the audacity to look at the food on our plates and say "well, it looks as though you have enough food there to eat. You can share this one side among st yourselves." YES, he told us to share food! THEN he went on to charge us for the mashed potatoes he forgot to put on the order and he still didn't even bring the 2nd side either! Unfortunately Gordon Ramsey wasn't there to fire him because if he had been served the way we were served, then he would be lacking in employment. read more
