Probably lost a loyal customer tonight. Don't get me wrong, I used to LOVE Bread Zeppelin. In high school I used to go to the Plano location at least twice a week. I was so excited they opened a store in Dallas now that I go to SMU. I had been once to this location before and wasn't super happy, but after being disappointed twice in a row, I'm going out of my way to write a review. This time I ordered my usual, 2 Caesar zeppelins for my bf and I. As they were getting chopped I noticed the amount of salad in the bowl was significantly less than usual ( could easily fit in one hand). I spoke up and the girl responded 'yea I think it looks small too,' and went on chopping. When she went to stuff the bread, she lightly put it in to make it look more full, as opposed to pushing it down a little. When I went to check out I gave the man my ticket and he charged me for two Chicken Caesar zeppelins as opposed to vegetarian. (Almost double the price) He had it corrected but still annoying after the salad makers service. When I got home and started eating I got even more annoyed. I unwrapped the paper and saw hardly ANY bread removed from the center. Even worse at the bottom. It was hardly hollowed out with such a skimpy amount of stuffing. It used to be that whatever they couldn't fit in the zeppelin, you could take home in a small takeaway bowl. I used to get full after eating these but not anymore. So disappointed in the quality at this store, it feels like they're skimping every cent. Won't return unless something is changed. Sad. read more

I ordered something from Uber eats and was not allowed to edit my order to exclude blue cheese. I called the location informing them that I would not like blue cheese in my order. The person on the phone said, yes there is a way to exclude ingredients, i asked him if he wanted me to order again and prove there wasnt. He said "whatever bro we do this every day there is a way to exclude ingredients". I was walking around the downtown Dallas area, I was so mesmerized by everything that there was to see, I had almost forgotten and I hadn't eaten all day. I finally got to a point where I was starving. I checked with Yelp to see the restaurants nearby and the ones that had great reviews. Bread Zeppelin was definitely up there with four stars. I happened to be close by and popped my head in to do a quick preview of the menu. It was very empty in there except for a woman who is in front of me ordering. It was great that there was somebody there before me because I got to see the process of how they made a "Zeppelin." . Let me explain, the Zeppelin is a French baguette that is hollowed out with a salad put inside. You get to choose what kind of lettuce you want, four toppings, and one protein. Anything additional will be $0.59, like nuts, cheese, extra toppings, avocado, etc. That is if you create your own bed. There are also salads on the menu that refer to geological location,: Southwest, Kale-a-fornia, or my favorite, the Plymouth Rock. That is where I'm from. I decided to make my own, I got a mix of iceberg and artesian greens, I chose beets, chickpeas, black beans, soy beans, walnuts, and avocado, I also added grilled chicken. They mix everything up in a bowl and then they chop it up. Please see video. Then they put it into the baguette and wrap it up. They also have drinks, chips, bread pudding, and the most delicious croutons ever. The croutons were amazing and they actually sell them by the bag. Those are no additional charge and I highly recommend that you put some croutons in your salad. The crunchiness definitely makes it. If you don't want all of the bread, you can also get it in a bowl or a wrap. I definitely recommend the bread. If you're going to splurge, now is the time. Overall, the price was not bad at all I paid less than $15 for all of my additional toppings, the baguette, the salad, and I did not get a drink. Most people get everything to go because the environment is pretty grab and go. However, I was starving so I sat down there and ate. They have restrooms available for customers and you need to ask for a key. Not sure what the parking situation is because I walked, however it is in the middle of downtown Dallas so it's very easy to get to know matter where you are. I highly recommend this joint! My first visit was last Saturday at noon. I ate the NOLA Zeppelin, and my hubby had the Lone Star Bowl. Mine came in a fresh, crispy, warm baguette. It had a generous portion of fried shrimp and chopped iceberg and other fresh salad veggies. I ate every morsel! So good!!! My hub's bowl was a very large container of mixed greens and other wonderful ingredients to numerous to name. He let me taste and it was also delish! Whoever thought stuffing delicious warm sourdough bread with salad is a genius. During the weekday lunch hour, the lines are insanely long by noon so I'd especially advise arriving either 11:30AM or 1:30PM if you don't like lines. While I haven't tried a salad I don't like, my favorite is the lone star zeppelin. I love how you can customize toppings to your liking and have control over how much dressing you want. Because they chop the salads so fine and mix everything up so well, you get a little bit of each ingredients in every bite! And stuff it all inside carbs?! It's perfect. Maybe one day they'll offer a larger size of the zeppelin (what they call the salad stuffed sourdough bread) because as of now they only offer one size, and it's typically not large enough to fill me up. I made the mistake of showing up at 11:30 without calling in an order. The line was HUGE, but it moved relatively quickly. They have a number of different salads you could order by name, but you can also just have them build it to your liking...which I did. After they build it, they send it to someone who chops it all up for you. The flavor, for a salad, was really good. The inside is really loud though - which is why I gave it four stars. I had a difficult time hearing someone sitting right next to me. I will certainly get salads from them again though. read more

I love this place!! Such a cool idea to put salad in a baguette! I usually get my zeppelin delivered through Uber eats because parking is ridiculous and that is why I took away a star. There is no parking area within a block radius and also you'd have to pay for parking. Other than that they have always been super efficient and every zeppelin has been awesome! I'm only giving them 4 stars at this time because they don't have online ordering available for the downtown Dallas location yet so you have to call. And if you don't preorder and can't get there early (like by 11am), the line is very, VERY long. Finally, I can't recommend eating there in the restaurant because it is very, VERY noisy. I had the seasonal strawberry salad, ordered around 11:50 am on a weekday. I am giving a specific time because i was in line 25 minutes before ordering and another 15 after ordering. The line didn't look 25 minutes long when I walked in, but I soon realized there must be a problem because there was no forward movement. Several people in front of me abandoned hope and left, so I decided to wait it out. When I finally arrived at the counter it appeared the employees were just slammed with orders - I think online ordering was overwhelming the system. When I paid at the end of the counter and turned to leave, I was faced with a healthy angry crowd waiting for their greens. Bread Zeppelin has sadly gone down in quality as it has expanded to multiple locations. We used to be frequent (and happy) patrons of their Irving location for several years, back when there was only that one and the one in Plano. We've been to this downtown location once before, but only for takeout on our way back home to Austin. Yesterday we were meeting another couple here, and the bench area where we all sat was filthy: crumbs on the seats, unwiped tables, and food all over the floor. But even that could be forgiven if the salads and/or zeppelins were awesome, but they weren't. It used to be that your salad was packed so tightly into the bowl that it would almost topple out when you opened the lid, but no longer. Now it is barely filled to the top (as was the case with the Kaleifornia). And the zeppelins: you used to get a little extra salad in a bowl when they couldn't fill the bread completely, but also no longer (as was the case with the buffalo chicken). Harried workers, higher prices, less food. NOT COOL. One of us used to love this place so much that she took it upon herself to write the manager/owner a very nice e-mail letting them know how much quality has suffered. Instead of a thank you or an apology, or anything for that matter, the manager/owner accidentally replied back when he meant for it to be forwarded to someone else--and never even replied to the original e-mail! We're done making excuses for this place. You can't control your growth, you greedy money grubbers, and now your product sucks. Congratulations! read more

My buddy at work had been raving about this place for the longest time, so one day he convinced me to go. I'm now kicking myself for not going earlier. The concept is basically carving out the inside of a baguette, chopping up a salad, and stuffing it into the baguette. That idea didn't excite me at first, but after the first bite, I was sold. What a neat place! This is how it works: you look on the menu and decide which combo you'd like to have. Basically, the left side of the board has close to 20 different combinations. I chose the Southwestern. You then have an option of just a bowl or zeppelin. Basically what a Zeppelin is, is a baguette cut in half and they stuff whatever "salad combo" you got into the warm bread. It's simple, neat, and really cool to watch. While in Dallas at a convention, I stopped in to eat here to escape the bad convention food. It was amazing! It was highly customizable. My partner is vegan and the staff were eager to make sure there were no animal products in his meal. He went with the breaded salad (basically an upgraded sandwich) while I had a salad. They have sandwiches in a zeppelin shaped bun (hence the name) with what I am sure is tasty meats and cheeses and toppings. I got the Atlantis which consists of Grilled Chicken Cucumber Tomatoes Kalamata Olives Banana Peppers White Onion Crumbled Feta Romaine w/ Greek Dressing The staff fills a clear plastic bowl with your ingredients (you can choose your own ingredients). This bowl can be misleading in it's size. One you take the top off you eat and eat and eat and it never seems to end. It was fresh (greens didn't taste like they had been in plastic bags). The staff was pleasant and was very understanding when I wanted to trade in my unopened bottle of water for unsweet tea. Drinks are the same price. I love bread zeppelin the food is amazingggg wasn't too happy about the customer service though. This was my first time at the downtown location. As soon as I got there the staff was acting v annoyed and were talking about how they wanted to start cleaning already so they could leave. We got there at least an hour before closing. 30 mins before closing they started turning most of the lights off while we were finishing up eating and one of the guys would complain any time another customer would walk in.
