What an amazing experience. I made reservations for a Sunday at 5:00. We arrived early and to my surprise there weren't a lot of people. This place is pretty big on the inside with a full bar and plenty of seating. We were escorted to our tables and our waiter (Davion) was excellent. He took the time to go through the menu with us and offered some great suggestions. I personally ordered the Fried Calamari and Octupus along with the Fried Sampler platter. The calamari and Octupus were delicious with the white sauce. It wasn't exactly Tarter sauce but definitely did the trick. I wish they gave you more for an appetizer but still good nonetheless. The Garlic Bread was also delicious. Melted in your mouth and wonderful soft edges. Plenty to go around as they give you about 6 slices. My main course was the sampler platter. The catfish was crispy and soft. Golden fried and delicious. The crawfish nuggets were a little spicy but good as well. The shrimp were a good size. They come split. The chicken tenders were definitely tender. The fries were oh so good as well. All the friend fish and chicken arrive on a plate filled with fries. My entire meal was magically delicious. The food at Pappadeaux is always consistently delicious! Although we went there for the fried blue crab claws which they were out of. We still had a great meal. Our meal consisted of 1doz. oysters on the half shell, my wife had crawfish étouffée and I had 3 fried soft shell blue crabs. They all were delicious. Our service was excellent and the drinks were as well! The reason for 3 stars is because the last few times we've ordered food (some dine in and some carry out) the fried food was extremely greasy and didn't have much flavor If any. For my order today there was so much grease the breading was actually coming off and the shrimp was rubbery with no flavor at all. Not that it's a huge deal but it looked just thrown in the box. New menu item alert. I typically have great visits to Pappadeaux and this was no different. We sat at the bar to watch Sunday football and partake in some libations. We started with a crab cake (sorry no pic) as an appetizer. I was worried it would have tons of filler and it did have some but I will say the crab meat was still plentiful and packed with such great flavor!!! For an entree I decided to give the new menu entree a try which was the sea bass atop a bed of warm sautéed spinach. The sea bass had an au gratin top and was so well prepared that I couldn't put my fork down. However, I'm learning to stop indulging once I feel satisfied but it was extremely hard to do today...but I did it. He went with grilled red fish with a side of truffle potatoes and enjoyed it thoroughly. For dessert I got the sweet potato pecan pie to go and it came à la mode with a bourbon cream sauce. No problem though because,I'm not updating as a general rule anymore and this will just add to my stable of recommendations. With much anticipation, Papadeaux hit Dallas-Ft Worth about 30 years ago with their Richardson location. Let me say here,I believe that's still the best Papadeaux in DFW. This location was 2nd or 3rd and I've eaten here a dozen times. While overall Papadeaux in general hit a few rough spots about 15 years ago. They seem to have recovered for the most part. I remember thinking $18.95 was a lot for the Redfish Pontchartrain in 1995. That's only continued to rise and is Knocking on the $50.00 per serving door. But,that's ok as long as they " bring it" and they generally do. Reading some of the poor reviews,I'm inclined to believe it stems from people's choices. For example,why would you order tallapia when great red snapper,red fish and grouper is available? I know,it's cheaper but,when your at Pappas,go big or go home. Now, competition is having an affect on everyone in the area including these guys. I commend them for juggling high cost of quality seafoods,pricing,service and still delivering. One way they're doing this is lunch menus even on weekends. My reduced portion of grouper was less expensive off the lunch menu but enough to satisfy. From the time we first pulled up into the parking lot I was impressed with the way everything looked . The atmosphere and overall feeling I received in entering was extremely impressive. We had to wait around 15 minutes before being seated; however the short wait time was worth it. We went for my first cousin 70th birthday celebration and everyone truly enjoyed the experience. The entire party of eight ordered the Blackened catfish with red beans and rice. Honestly this was one of the best meals I have had from a restaurant. The fish was perfect and seasoned to perfection. Super fresh, jumbo lump crab meat, and shrimp that were sautéed in some sort of seasoning before placing on top of them on a wedge of lettuce with all your traditional cob salad toppings on the side. So good! We also tried the crab fingers and crab and spinach dip. The crab and spinach dip was a good eight out of 10. Crab fingers not so much. I tried the sautéed crab fingers and did not like them 3/10, they tasted like they had been maybe sautéed and then reheated or sautéed and washed with water. Food was good but the biggest issue was the upsell on everything. Asked the hostess whats good and she tells me the 2 most expensive things on the menu. Server comes and upsells the bread, drinks, and entrees. Took his advice on the most expensive of our 3 orders and didnt like it. I dont understand why they do that. It's been a while since I've been to Pappadeaux, but we decided to come for my hubby's birthday dinner. I made reservations and we were seated within a few minutes of arriving. It wasn't as busy inside as I'd expected based on past experiences but there were still a good number of people there. We were seated at a table and our server arrived shortly to take our drink orders. She was very friendly & nice. We ordered salads for the kiddos and the garlic bread app she mentioned while we looked at the menu. Prices have definitely increased - I get it, but still pricey. I'd say the average price is now in the mid 30's per plate. In the past I've gotten the mixed seafood grill but don't recall seeing it on the menu now (I only thought about it after leaving & didn't ask). I guess they've made some modifications to their menu. We ordered the kids noodles, Crawfish platter, reddish, and salmon meal. Everyone did enjoy their food and we ended up with food to enjoy later. We ordered two appetizers. Crab cakes and spinach dip. Amazing. I always love their crab cakes. My Mom ordered lobster and steak. Why she didn't complain to the manager is beyond me. Half her lobster wouldn't come out of the shell and her steak was tough. My daughters shared a ribeye (rare) it was cooked medium well. Our waitress took it back and returned it no problems. Okay, my problem is I guess the attitude/explanation I was given about my order. I ordered the seafood tagliatelle pasta with white wine cream sauce (the menu explanation). The first bite was spicy. Why? It didn't say it was spicy (I would have ordered something else). And I asked the waitress if it was supposed to be spicy (maybe I didn't read it right on the menu) and her response "well, it IS a Cajun cafe. Everything is going to have a little kick to it!" Well, our crab cakes didn't have a kick. The spinach dip didn't have a kick. So, that explanation is kinda rude to be honest. She offered to bring me Alfredo sauce to add on top to cut the heat. Maybe she meant extra white wine cream sauce? The "sauce" I was given was heavy whipping cream with maybe Parmesan on the bottom? Tasted like plain whipping cream. At this point I guess that was all the help I was going to get. We ate early but a manager never came to check on our table. I wouldn't either with half my mom's $60 lobster stuck in the shell and your snarky comment to my question about a pasta dish that no where said it was spicy. I knew Pappadeaux's had Cajun dishes but it DOES say Seafood kitchen not Cajun Cafe. What do I know. I don't appreciate paying $120 and not really enjoying mine. My mom paid over $250. So, I'm not really sure if my dish is supposed to be spicy. With two complaints, a manager really should've come over. My niece and her friend had a wonderful meal (they got swordfish and rainbow trout and said it was the best meal they ever had‍). My daughter's steak round 2 was very tender. I've been coming to Pappadeaux over 20 years, and have unfortunately seen the decline in the food quality and the increase of the food cost so I'll be taking a mean break after this most recent visit. I came to this location, which honestly is one of my least favorite locations to have lunch with my family. We came in and was seated right away. Shout out to our server Dephonso( unsure on spelling) who was excellent! Dephonso was super engaging, friendly and attentive our whole time, he's the reason for the 4 star review. We almost always start with the fried alligator so we ordered that and for my entree I ordered the seafood gumbo with the half fried shrimp and oyster po'boy. Alligator was great, noticeably smaller portions though. Our food came and I started on the gumbo. Definitely not as good as I remembered, first it was lukewarm but it was pretty bland it needed hot sauce bad. My po'boy was also lukewarm but the first half i ate tasted really good. Second half of my po'boy was disappointing, way to many bites had shells or grit not sure which it was from the oysters which made eating it very unpleasant. My last Pappadeaux visit, I had issues with shells being present in the crab dish I ordered, they need to tighten up on properly cleaning the seafood. My dad shared the same sentiment about the food needing more seasoning but everyone else seemed pleased with their meal. Food here is too expensive to be lukewarm or to deal with improperly cleaned seafood. I'm still a fan but it will be a time before they see me again. read more

Despite being Father's Day, we got premium parking and walked in and was able to be seat at once. Ordering appetizers and a few drinks we quickly settled in for what we thought would be a great time. Appetizers came out quickly along with the drinks. Then it was time to order our entrée. We set there and enjoying our drinks letting time pass away, and we started noticing that people that they came in after us had gotten their food and left. And that we hadn't received our order yet. At that moment, the waiter came out and said that they had lost our ticket order, and asked what we had ordered ! SMH..! So instead of or normal hour dinner it turned into 3 hours waiting on our food. The manager was polite enough to cover our tab and apologized. I explained that I didn't know if the waiter was new or not, but to teach him correctly as to be proficient. The issues we endured, Glass of ice no water, bread no plates, and empty appetizers plates still on the table. I even tipped 20$ just because. Then we ordered a dessert to go. I get home and start to enjoy my Strawberry Cheesecake. I will include pics of what I found. We come here because of the great service and the terrific food. I have never had a bad experience at Pappadeaux! Perfect lunch date with a dear friend of ours and started out with the perfect bread and whipped butter. I ordered the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain with pan-grilled redfish, lump crab, shrimp, brown-butter wine sauce and dirty rice. This dish is perfection on a plate and the dirty had a nice and rich umami flavor. Tahzia ( I hope I was close on the spelling) was an outstanding server and she made the dining experience top-tier. I've always been a fan of Pappadeaux's since I started going when I was visiting Austin as a kid. All the restaurants have a slight New Orleans theme to them which is nice. Service was good and very friendly. Quickly got seated, got drinks, appetizer, and food. Today I had the grouper that the server described as almost a seafood boil with a nice piece of fish on top. Amazing! That is really I need to say about Pappadeaux's. This is my absolute favorite place to eat and any time we are in Texas or near one we have to stop. Really wish we had one in Oklahoma! My mom and I stopped around 5:30 on a Friday evening and got there at the perfect time. We were seated immediately and greeted by a fantastic server, Isela. She was so pleasant and not overbearing. Always kept an eye on us though and we never got below half a glass on our drinks. I always get the Crispy Salmon. It is so good, they change the flavor profiles and sides a couple times a year and this may have been my favorite! The manchego potato purée was delicious. Of course the seafood was PERFECT! Mom got the 2 Stuffed Shrimp and subbed the fries for a baked potato. Both were very good. The potato was cooked perfect. We ended the meal with crème brûlée which was wonderful. We also got a turtle fudge brownie to go for the next day because of course we need a delectable dessert while traveling lol. By the time we left the restaurant was full and quite busy. We took our kids and grandkids to Pappadeaux to celebrate a few birthdays and our experience was marvelous! Their service is impeccable and the food is outstanding. We've been going there for many years and my wife loves a few of their dishes that haven't been on the menu for at least 10 years yet when we go there, they will still make it for her. We flew to Texas just to come here for our Anniversary. Yes, it was the hubby's idea, and yes, it's one of his favorite restaurants. Instead of two crawfish entrees, there are three! Of course, the hubby orders that - crawfish etouffee, fried crawfish, and sautéed crawfish. Personally, for me, that's crawfish overload. I opted for the pan-grilled rainbow trout and seared shrimp with dirty rice. Others in our party ordered the fried oyster plate and swordfish. I also had a cup of their shrimp gumbo - which was delish and filled with veggies and shrimp. I'm not one of those people who can describe and name every ingredient in my food, but let me just say that I made a good choice! The trout was basically a whole fileted perfectly seasoned, buttery, cooked to perfection trout. That, along with the dirty rice, was so good that I forgot about my shrimp. The shrimp was okay. I tried some of the swordfish off my mom's plate, AND THAT WAS DEE-LICIOUS! The sauce it was cooked in, along with the squash and zucchini, is something I'll probably be craving forever. I tried a few bites of the hubby's crawfish plate; I preferred the sautéed crawfish over the etouffee and fried ones. We didn't think we'd have the room after that food fiasco, but we made sure to get dessert. I skipped the creme brulee and cheesecake (which the rest of us had). Why go to a southern-style restaurant and have those boring desserts when you can have a pecan sweet potato pie? Yes! It was my anniversary and I had it! First, the girl who waited our table did an excellent job. In fact, she couldn't have done any better. The food, on the other hand, was disappointing. The tray of raw oysters were large but of no consistency and the large caesar salad with grilled "chicken" was lacking. The salad was good but the chicken was dry as cardboard and tough as a brick. My wife had the shrimp étouffée and the shrimp were dry, hard and without flavor. We wondered if maybe my chicken and her shrimp were lab-grown.
