To the town of Rupert specifically the breakers pub. You have a ship full of potential customers... not much to offer to people (town) for eating and I literally walked 10k steps around town trying to find a spot to eat. Our ship docked early and we had to wait until anything was open. You Breakers, I circled back to eat at which I was excited to do. I had a Starbucks tea in my hand (Trent's/big) pretty full still and was told I would have to drink it if I wanted to come in! Are you kidding me? You turned us out bc of my tea? So 2 paying customers (who wouldn't have ordered alcohol anyway) were not worth it to you. Well you suck. Rupert Canada gets a thumbs down. read more

Biggest negative is staff, it's a ' please wait till we seat you', but they arenot bothering to seat people, even when it's not busy. Even for a 'one at the bar' . Stopped in a Breaker's Pub during a cruise stop. After being on the ship for days, all I wanted was a REAL Caesar and REAL poutine. Breaker's did not disappoint. Located on Prince Rupert Island's waterfront, the view is spectacular. I was fortunate because I didn't wait in line and was able to get a table as soon as I got there. Just after that, the line got very, very long. I could see that if you didn't time it just right, you would have to wait, especially with a cruise ship in port. After I was seated, I browsed the menu for my sought after items. I was pleased to see that Breaker's had a separate Caesar menu. I knew then that I was in the right place. I ordered the poutine and a Breakers Caesar. It seemed like the restaurant was short staffed, just like every other establishment after covid, but I already knew what I wanted, so I ordered when I was seated. While I waited for my drink and food, I browsed the menu and it was quite extensive. Specialties being locally sourced fish. The Breaker's Caesar, known for being it's spiciest one, comes in a 16 or 20 oz. I had a double 20 oz. It came dirty with double Worcestershire and horseradish, I knew I couldn't go wrong with this one. It was tasty, smooth and with just the perfect amount of spice. The horseradish actually floats around in the glass, but doesn't overwhelm. Absolutely hit the spot! Next up, the poutine. Oh, the yummy, piping hot, freshly crisped and crunchy fries under a generous amount of cheese curds that have already begun to melt due to the thick, hot gravy. Need I say more? So decadent! It absolutely hit the spot! Service was slow, but that was expected, and also very worth it! I would suggest reservations if you know when you'll be there. I will definitely return on my next stop! The Breakers Pub is Cow Bay Harbor close the cruise terminal. We some of the locals what restaurant do they recommend they al say Breakers Pub. They serve from sea food,burgers and other items. This place gets busy during the cruise season we waited then finally they call us they found a good seats with a great view of the harbor. The waitess hand us the menu we were looking at it and decided what to order,we decided to wings with BBQ sauce and Pourtine the classic Canadian comfort meal. I decided to order some Canadian craft beers and wait for our food to come. They brought the food and including the drinks also my beer. We try the Pourtine wow so much flavor in the Pourtine and cheese curds just melt it in the fries and beef gravy. The beef gravy was incredible good great flavors. The cheese were incredible good we enjoy it very much. The wings were very good they cook the wings well to a crispy side including the BBQ sauce. We love. The beers are incredible good I enjoy it. The server was very good and friendly especially the manager we talk he was really nice. The restaurant looks really nice it a local hangbout. read more

Tried to go here with my 19-year-old son to eat he had his valid passport it was basically the only thing open because it was late at night and we were refused because he didn't have a second ID, which is supposedly the law but other people there that knew my son said they did not get asked for two forms of ID. The woman was very short and even tried to stop him from talking to his friend. It's really weird that they're obsessed with supposedly this is the BC law but we've been in Canada for three months and never had the same kind of experience. Never had any problems getting him in anywhere. He even had a photo of his drivers license, but she wanted to see the real thing unfortunately, his wallet was stolen prior to coming on the ferry. Came here for wings Wednesday. That night it was a full house and to me this is surprising. I have never been in a restaurant in PR, that would be full. Wings on Wednesday is $7 per pound (no need to purchase a drink). Note: They have Happy Hours special too if you are able to make it here before 5:30 pm (kind of early.. don't you think?). The wings were very disappointing. They all tasted the same. They were basically fried and tossed in sauce or seasoning (depending on the flavor you ordered). Service is a hit and miss. This pub has darts if you are interested in playing. By leaving your ID with them, you can borrow their darts for free. Another great thing about this pub is it has a really nice water view. Yes of course free parking on top. It is a great place to hang out with friends. read more

We stopped in at Breakers during a stop on our Carnival cruise. The menu appealed to us and when we walked in the door, the delicious smell of smoked meat greeted us and cemented our decision to stay. We asked the hostess for a window table, if possible. She said there were none available, but we would be at a table that was like a window table. We were seated at a two top that quite literally was in the doorway to the patio. We had to reconfigure our seating to sit next to each other rather than across the table from one another. Otherwise, no one could pass. After being seated for 15 or 20 minutes, we asked a passing server if she was our waitress. She was not, but she did let the young lady who was our waitress know we were waiting. She was a server who had walked past our table several times. When she finally came to serve us, she said she hadn't seen us. We ordered two appetizers and an entree to split. After roughly 45 minutes, it all came out together. Everything we ordered was delicious--poutine, shrimp, and fish and chips. It was a nice place with a cool vibe. The view was beautiful. All in all, the positives outweighed the negatives. I think the restaurant got slammed with a lot of people in a short time and our server may need more training. I hope this business does well with all the new traffic in Prince Rupert. It is a charming place worth seeing. read more

Breakers Pub is in Cow Bay and looked like a good place to chill and have a beer. It's a cute pub with a good vibe and it was fairly busy. I sat at a table by the window ... awesome to be by the water. I imagine it's packed in the summer. Alas, the patio was closed (though it opened as I was leaving). Perhaps my quota for patience and tolerance was spent during the three days our cruise ship was stuck in San Francisco, or maybe this venue could use a firm "talkin-to". We arrived and were seated promptly. A nice waitress took our order, and brought us our soda pop drinks. But then, a mysterious time suck occurred and we waited for over 30 minutes for anything further to happen. The couple in the table next to us then informed us that they were ready to leave after waiting a long time, but their food arrived so they stayed. We were about to walk out, when I walked over to the bar to find our waitress. I asked her where our food might be when she asked me if the person who seated us had informed us of the wait time. I replied that no one warned us. The waitress then informed me that the regular wait time for food is one hour. Ten minutes later our food arrived. The main entree and salad arrived together. Much would be forgiven had salads arrived 20 minutes earlier. An inexcusable delay. No the place was not busy. At least half the tables were empty and there were four waitresses. The food was good, thus two stars. If you come here, bring patience and low expectations. read more

Shortstop in Port Rupert for our cruise to Alaska and sitting on the deck at breakers was a highlight. The servers are efficient and enthusiastic the prices are great and the food is outstanding. Only drawback is no kids allowed due to some stupid Canadian law where kids can't be in restaurant/bars (even though they serve a lot of food) but there is a great place across the street called Cowpaccinno where our kids had a great milkshake while we had happy hour wine and some snacks. They should make the law so it is OK for kids to be in places before 5 PM if they are restaurant/bar that serves a lot of food. I can understand it if it is just a bar serving alcohol but Breakers is so much more than that. Love watching the otters swim in the water down below while fisherman cleaned their salmon catch. read more

Great poutine. Cold beer. That's why I went because a place up the street served me shredded cheddar on wet fries. I just wanted to say I ate poutine in Canada because I'm a dork. I sat at the bar, ordered that and a beer and listened to the bartender talk crap about how stupid tourists are to her regulars. Hey, I get it. I work at one of the most tourist-filled places in SF but I'd never freely insult them to their faces. At this point Im a tad uncomfortable and realized that I didn't have too much time and I wanted to run to Safeway anyways before my ship took off. Anyways, I asked for the check before I finished from the bartender and the way she reacted was like I insulted her. She rolled her eyes at me lol! It was a fast visit but nothing personal, lady. We came here as a group of 6 for a reunion. There isn't anything special about the drinks here but the view of the harbour is very nice. Throughout the day we were passed around by 4 different waitresses. Maybe our first few waitresses set the bar high but by the end of the night the waitress we had was awful. Nowhere in prince Rupert should you wait 15-20minutes for 6 Coors light. Food here is decent. Nothing blew me away but then again we ordered as a group and got a ton of appetizers. My fiance ordered a burger that had some sort of jam on it and it looked really good. Plenty of parking around. Only problem we had was keeping a good waitress. I'm giving it a 3 simply because of the rollercoaster of a service we had. read more

Prince Rupert has always impressed me with the unbelievable amount of above par eateries it has for such a small community. I've eaten at Breakers 4 times now so I think I have the scoop. The food is excellent pub food. Top notch every time. The service is about three stars. Sometimes it's pretty good, sometimes it's quite awful. The ambiance is debatable, if you're outside, on a nice day it's lovely. If you're inside later, quite a different tale. Overall I like this pub and it's food offerings. But keep in mind, the whole atmosphere changes between afternoon to night time. read more

We came in after the rush from a tour, which is no problem for us to wait but you basically have to stand by a table because it's a seat yourself kind of deal. We saw a lot of people done with their food so we figured they'd be leaving soon, we kind of just stayed out of the way of the servers. However, the servers made us feel incredibly unwelcome and told us that there were no seats, to which I said people were almost done. Either way, we didn't feel comfortable enough to eat there because of the servers. I'm sure they were stressed because of the rush, but there are better ways to treat potential customers then to tell them to basically leave. Great location to the two marinas if you're staying on a boat. We have gone in here in years past, but decided not to come back because the music was so loud that it was really unpleasant. However, after being stormbound in town for 8 days we had tried pretty much every other reasonable restaurant twice. So, we decided to give it another try. We ended up eating here 3 times and every meal was great and service was consistently very good. They use team serving so you don't sit waiting if your primary server is busy. That really provides very good service. The menu is probably the broadest in town do pretty much everyone can find something they like. Realizing quickly that Prince Rupert is not exactly and exotic place to explore (though they do have a Safeway...) we were in search for a way to pass the time before our cruise ship left. We headed to Breakers Pub which ended up being a typical pub and appetizers sort of place. Pretty good views of Cow Bay watching the kayaks and boats come into the docks. All the wait staff are pretty young and don't know too much about the beer. I had a Keith's IPA which is the only beer I have ever had taken back to the bar and asked if they mixed up the taps. After finding the oldest (I used that term lightly) waitress she let me know that I wasn't crazy and that Canadian IPAs apparently tastes like any regular old lager. Not a reflection on the pub, though if I could write a review of Canadian IPAs I might have a bone to pick. Overall a good place with a wide selection of drinks to pass the time before the ship leaves. read more

After phoning in to make sure the kitchen was still open, we hustled down to a late post fishing dinner. Sadly, not only where the staff ineffectual, uninterested in serving us, they rather bruskly discouraged us from staying and complicating their closing. I'm not usually hard to get along with, and have had excellent meals here. This particular experience coincides rather unfortunately with the opening day of a Yelp account. For dishing out the worst customer service in recent memory, Bravo Breakers. On the plus side it can only get better from here. Touristy American checking in. Checked out Breakers on our last Port Stopover or whatever the hell it's called. Anyways, we were glad to check this place out. They had beer and nachos. 2 staples of American cuisine. I don't think I've ever had nachos baked before, but it definitely hit the spot. Now on to the best part, the beer. I was introduced to my two new friends, Alexander Keith's and Sleemans. The Alexander Keith's IPA was strong and was just a solid beer. As for Sleemans, that was honestly one of the highlights of the trip. I don't think I've had a brown lager as tasty as this. I'm geeking out on this right now as we speak. Must figure out how to order online. Anyways, overall the gal who helped us out was pretty cool and the place seems like a nice place to hang out. read more

We just went here for the first and had a great dinner. I had the the Baja Fish Tacos and they were soon good. I had the clam chowder to start and shared it with everyone it was so delicious, I should have ordered the bowl. My husband loves Jambalaya, when he sees it on any menu he is sure to order it and the jambalaya here is the second best he has ever had. My daughter ordered the Country Fried Chicken and she ate 3 out of the 4 pieces. She is a small eater but it was so good she couldn't stop eating, she said it was very moist. I will have to make an average for the ratings since my Breakers Pub's experiences fluctuated quite a bit. Pet peeve, we meet again! 3 stars is the average that comes in between a 4 stars for OK service, good wings and good finger licking greasy bar food, and a 2 stars for being ignored by the staff on a relatively slow night. Show up with a group, that always seems to attract the bees. I've never had any issues with the food, which is actually quite the good bar food. So if you want something healthy and not watch sports on TV, that might definitely not be the place for you. But if you are so inclined and your digestive track is OK with it, Breakers is an OK place on nights where someone cares to come over to ask you if, ahem, you've been helped in the past hour. read more

Breakers Pub has been a stop for us each time we pass through Prince Rupert on SCUBA diving trips to Alaska. Even the day with only a few hours in town when we were looking forward to using their wireless only to find that it had been down for days without much concern for bringing it back up, we still enjoyed their brew selection. Last time through we ate dinner outside with friends which everyone enjoyed. Whether we sit at the bar and chat with locals or enjoy the deck in nice weather, Breakers always works for us with its casual, unpretentious atmosphere with a wide beer selection and decent food at moderate prices. read more
