Our house turns 99 this year. We decided that we would use the next 12 months to get our home as close to its 1912 condition as possible-- starting with the plumbing. We got multiple bids. A- Breakthrough with Marc was by far the best. Not because it was the cheapest (it wasn't--but it was a lot less $$ than some), but because it was the smartest and the greatest value. He was also the only one to include replacing the water service from the house to the city line in the bid. It makes perfect sense, why go to the trouble of replacing all the pipes in the house if only a trickle of water can make it through the intake line? I have a big family and so we decided to schedule the work over New Years while we would be out of town. I was able to get a hold of Marc easily whenever I needed to. The team was great with our dog and courteous to our young dog sitter. We came home to a clean house and a nearly completed project...sparing us the rigmarole of caring for our four little kids in the midst of the work. Marc and his team were great...smart, focused, and on board with the project of getting the greatest value out of the work. He kept me apprised of the progress and any changes or additions to the plans. The very affordable cost of the work was as quoted or with reasonable charges for additional work. And, for all the ladies out there, something that I truly appreciate about Marc and the team is that they know how to do business with women. Some of the other bidders, for example, left messages about their bids for my husband, even though I was the one who scheduled the bid and was there to walk them through. Infuriating! If you want to have the most fascinating dinner of your life, charm your parents or hire someone to write an incredibly compelling brief on the subject of your choice, my husband's your guy. If you want someone to drive a remodel project from the "before" to the "after" pictures--you're going to have to talk to me. That is no problem for Marc and the team. They never condescended or talked down to me, and I appreciate it greatly. Priceless. Now we are moving onto other projects...and we are continuing to work with Marc and A-Breakthrough Plumbing and Remodeling. After calling 4 plumbers in 3 days, I was becoming quite frustrated with the lack of enthusiasm from many of these guys to have my business. That was until I called Marc's business line. His secretary was pretty knowledgable about plumbing herself, gathering my questions and information and promised a call back from Marc within the hour. Twenty minutes later I had Marc on the phone with a spot-on estimate of what it would cost me to take care of a clogged sewer line using his roto rooting services. He did give full disclosure that until he is able to asses the issue and start working, it was just an estimate. The thing I noticed with plumbers is, they can't be as accurate with their estimates as other service companies due to the contingencies that may arise upon actual inspection. There is a reason these guys charge what they do, it's no easy task and plumbing (older homes especially) is not as standard as as electrical, heating, etc. He came out the next day with an employee, and the two of them used their 100ft+ electric roto cable to clear what seemed to be some heavy root issues I was having. After about 1 hour 45 minutes, they had cleared my entire sewer line, inspected the plumbing underneath my house, and discussed some maintenance tips and things to keep an eye out for in order to avoid future problems and additional work. The price was no surprise and came out to be exactly what he estimated during our initial conversation. Not only did he do great work, Marc was a genuinely nice guy and easy to talk with. Marc was freggin' awesome! I called around to try and get a quote, and even though he (as well as no one else) couldn't give me a quote over the phone, it was nice to talk to a "Normal-Person", unlike the franchise company's using terms I don't understand with the I-don't-care / get the job done attitude. Marc was on time, and had a great attitude. I felt very comfortable with how he did the job as well as his prices! :-) I saved over $50-$75 compared to the other companies that gave me quotes (and he had no idea how much they quoted me, neither) I had a 4"x4" piece of plastic stuck in my toilet (kids) and he came in and got right to work! Cleaned it out in a quick amount of time, so I offered another job to clean out my tub drain, and without hesitation, it was no problem, and ALSO cheaper than the quote about that too! I would gladly recommend his company to my friends and family, and I'm definitely going to keep his card on my fridge, for another time. When the tub's faucet got broken in the business I am working at as a manager, I search around for a reliable plumber to take care of the problem. I bumped into A- Breakthrough Plumbing here in yelp website! I read the reviews and was convinced I should give it a try. I have to say I was not disappointed. Mark the plumber took care of the little problem we had there with a professionalism I expect it to be. He is a very friendly guy, smiling and happy with life. I felt very comfortable with his presence and felt confident with his work as well. He explained everything I was suppose to know about the faucet fixing process I was curious of what happened and he helped me understand. I have a rental property and got a call from my tenant late Thursday night saying that the basement was flooding. Marc at A-Breakthrough had previously been recommended to me by another landlord friend, and I called him Friday morning to see if he could help immediately, as it was urgent that I get my tenant's water back on. Marc rearranged his day and was there within a couple of hours. He immediately got to work tracking down the leak, which was concealed by lath and plaster, replaced the old piping, and made sure the system came back up and running. He worked his a** off to get this all done and cleaned up before my tenant came home, and charged a very fair and reasonable price for the work - far less than would be charged by the big name guys. I can't say enough about this company and their employees. They were friendly, knowledgeable, on time, efficient & did an excellent job. The "big companies" wanted to charge two to three times- or more, as much as they did! I'm a disabled single father of two. These guys went WAY out of their way to help me- they worked with me so I was able to get the job done quickly and at the very good price I mentioned. Since this job was a failed waste-water line, it had to be fixed- fast. They could have taken advantage of the situation like the "big companies-" but instead they couldn't have been more helpful. Do yourself a huge favor and talk to Marc and Pat- these are stand up, hard-working guys and will not only help you, but will also help you save a lot of money. I met Mark while he was doing a project near where I work. He seemed like a straight shooter so I called him when I needed to get a pressure reducing valve replaced. He gave me an arrival window of 11-12 and he arrived at 11. The valve was in the crawlspace so it was difficult for he and his partner to access but they got the job done in about two 1/2 hours. That included testing for leaks and tweaking the pressure to get it just right (as measured from the lowest outdoor hose). They were professional and respectful of our house. They put down a drop cloth near the work zone and they took off their shoes in the house (putting them back on as they entered the crawlspace). The cost was reasonable, not the least expensive but not the most expensive either. You have to pay to get quality service and this was quality service. read more

Wow Marc Hatch saved my rump. Not only did i flush my cell phone down the toilet after it dropped out of my pocket, but I was at a friends house! opps sorry Dayna. I call Marc who I had used before to fix a leak in our tub faucet the would not stop leaking. He came out with in 50 minutes to see what he could do. Just like the first time I used him he was very personable and got to the job at hand. He had to pull out my friends toilet and used a camera it find out if my phone was stuck in the toilet or lost to the sewer rats. He found it lodge in the middle of the toilet and was able to get it out with hardly a scratch. Marc replace her toilet new seal, caulk, the whole 9 yards and made it look like he wasn't even there. Marc and his buddy came out and did a double install of 30 gallon water heaters in my duplex this summer. I wanted to wait to make sure all of their work held up, and it did. They had to work in tight spaces and do a little bit of custom work but it turned out great. For a small extra fee marc did a full inspection of my plumbing system and gave a few recommendations on things I could do to insure that I have no problems. He didnt pressure me into unneccessary improvements, just gave recommendations. Anyway, the water heaters work great and he has since come out to do a quick fix on my shower. While he was doing that he fixed the improper plumbing from the last plumber that has the hot and cold switched. He did a great job of culking and cleaning up as well. I found Breakthrough plumbing here on Yelp and given the glowing reviews for Marc I decided to call. I'd just purchased a home that was built in 1959 and the main line drain was totally clogged. Marc was absolutely wonderful, I simply cannot say enough good things about him. He was able to snake out my clog and offer recommendations on how to keep the pipes moving. He put drop cloths on the floor from the door to where he was working, took time after he was done to answer all of the other plumbing questions and when I got the bill I was thrilled at the competitive rate he charged. I had Marc out again today to fix a different plumbing problem. Marc Hatch is "my plumber". Once again, he was on-time and fixed the problem with my old pipes. I have had him out a total of three times for separate plumbing problems since I moved into my house three years ago. He is *pleasant* to be around and is always friendly and courteous. He also knows his stuff!! I have always felt that he gave me a more than fair price for his high-qualify work and I have never felt uncomfortable having him in my home. I have recommended him consistently whenever I hear someone is looking for a plumber. He's available 24 hours a day (can't beat that). I will never call another plumber! He's the best. Here was the situation, it was 9:30 on a Tuesday during the week between Xmas and New Years and water had overflowed from the toilet and the tub was filled. Mostly likely a broken sewer line going from the apartment building (our apartment neighbor had a similar problem). Did I mention the six day old baby and this was our only bathroom? We called several other plumbers, none would come out. Marc drove from Mukilteo to Queen Anne in under 45 minutes. In under an hour, he had the clog cleared. He was very clear that this was not going to be a permanent fix. He also helped clean up, not something everyone would do. The rental I live in has many issues and the landlords live on Vashon so I end up dealing with most of the repairs. Marc was very diplomatic in dealing with both me and the landlords; he had to deal with a lot of phone juggling and time constraints to get the job done. And what a job! Great detail went into the repair including fancier molding around the base of the bathroom floor and a great clean up job once he was done (so many repair people don't even bother to sweep up, let alone lock the door when they leave. I adore Marc! I tell people I love my plumber, and it is true. Marc and his crew have done work for my family for 15 years. He did substantial remodel work on my mom's house, did remodel work on my house (including new water line, rerouted pipes, installed new copper), and also routine and as-needed work on both homes. Most recently he installed a new kitchen drain line in my rental. My tenants even called me to rave about him. He is honest, responsive, and does things right. I had a New Year's Eve party I will never forget - but unfortunately it ended with a flooded bathroom. I had a cracked tank and a broken pipe. I called Breakthrough the next morning (New Year's Day) and he came out within an hour. I ended up having to get a whole new toilet since they discontinued my model. He gave me a great deal - less than I expected - and helped me pick out my new toilet. He was really friendly and I felt completely comfortable with him in the house with just me here. Came home from work and discovered a broken pipe in my bathroom. Had to turn the water off at the main valve. called my home warranty company , and was told that it would be at least 24 hrs before the company could come out . But in the mean time we have no water . So I found A-breakthrough Plumbing . They were here within one hour from the time I called . and fixed the bad leaky valve. On Saturday morning we had the toilet backing up downstairs when the washing machine drained. We called Marc and he was there exactly when we said he would be. He checked a few things out around the house, figured out what the problem was, and went to work. He had the drains cleared out in an hour. He then tested the rest of the plumbing to make sure we wouldn't have any further problems. He was very professional and a pleasure to talk to. His price was also very reasonable. My shower faucet wouldn't tighten down, so it dribbled uncontrollably. The washer/gasket behind the hardware was worn and he replaced it with ease and precision. He came the day after I called him and successfully shut off the water to my (older) condo building in order to complete the work. All in all, it prob took 20-30 minutes and cost $150, which seems to be the minimum for a job. On a tight budget it was a lot to spend for a quick job and a minor leak but I'm relieved to have it taken care of and Marc was nice and easy to deal with. read more

I contacted Marc about 1PM after reading several positive reviews on Yelp. He said he would be over in about an hour. Exactly 2PM he pulled up in his truck. He surveyed my wet basement and floor drain and set about fixing the problem. While he snaked the drain he gave me several tips about how to reduce the chances of additional drainage problems in the future. Before an hour was up Marc was finished and my drain worked again!
