I honestly wish I could give this place 100 stars. Breakwater Beach was fun pre-COVID, but I have to give credit where credit is due: they truly have gone above and beyond in order to ensure their guests are SAFE during this weird AF time. We've been going to Breakwater Beach for years. Although it is not as fancy as say Hurricane Harbor, Breakwater Beach HAS renovated in the past few years and everything is sparkly and new. While their number of attractions is on the smaller side, there is still a good enough selection of things to cool you off on a hot day. Not to mention, they have plenty of lifeguards posted at various spots in the park, and they are quick to tell a misbehaving child if they are, for example, horsing around in the wave pool. (Not that I have ANY experience with this... *side eyes rambunctious 6 year old niece*) However, during COVID, this place is DOING THE DAMN THING! Doing any sort of 'fun' activity during COVID is admittedly a calculated risk. Yet I truly felt like I was well-protected because I have never seen such an aggressive form of sanitation in my life. Breakwater Beach had designated sanitizers for all of the attractions - so you got off your inner tube, and it was immediately sprayed with sanitizer. You walked on a ride, you sanitized your hands. You flew down the 'banana slide,' screamed your face off, and handed your matt to get a thorough cleaning. Social distancing markers were everywhere and workers wore masks. I wish we took such drastic sanitation measures at my job, TBH! But the best part is...we booked a birthday party at Breakwater Beach for my rambunctious 6-year-old niece (the one mentioned above who TOTALLY WAS NOT HORSING AROUND IN THE WAVEPOOL!). We were given a designated a cabana for our partying and an associated who was in charge of the party. Shout out to Katie for being the MVP of Breakwater Beach. Holy moly, this girl did not stop for us all day - bringing water, pizza, goodie bags, ensuring everyone was happy...to be so peppy and so helpful is honestly a feather in her cap. Breakwater Beach, please give Katie a raise immediately. We were the first group to book a party there; perhaps we are crazy, but if your child has a birthday in the next few weeks and you're in the area, please inquire about having it at Breakwater Beach. Because the water park is opened at limited capacity, there was essentially no wait for the attractions, and we were able to freely ride all day, up until 6pm at night. Breakwater Beach was always clean, fun, and friendly, but now, it has really become a great place to bring the kids during COVID. Don't sit on this one! PS - their food is amazing. I went with my girl and it was around $100 for the both of us to get in parking was $20 for the whole day ($2 a hour) and the locker wasn't really worth it just leave your stuff in your car if your paying the $2 a hour! The food was REALLY good I'd say even tho it was really over priced but what can ya say it's seaside and on the boardwalk and last but not least the bar is awesome they serve drinks all day and are really quick and the beers $5 a Piece and shots being $12 a piece it does add up at the end of the day sooooo was $300 worth it all???? AWFUL!! This place is run by horrible greedy heartless management. Took my special needs child to breakwater beach water park in NJ. I wasn't fond of the idea that parents have to pay to accompany their child to begin with but paid nonetheless so my son could enjoy his vacation. I asked my mother to come along to just hold his medication bag and my phone in case I emergently need to administer his meds and call 911 as I would not have time to do this if it were locked up in a locker but staff wanted to charge her to sit in a chair visibly in front of them just to hold a bag. I explained that we'd never had a problem with this with any other business and i could assure them my 67 year old mother would not be utilizing the facility, I went through 3 managers that simply said no; it's policy to prevent "abuse" of rules. I told them I could prove he has a medical condition and they should make exceptions to "policies" like almost any other business would especially in cases like this but they were firm and demanded she pay. I asked for the name of the owner that has instituted this no exceptions policy even for a child with a medical condition but they refused to provide it. I asked for my money back for the tickets for my son and I. Judging by another review mentioning similar treatment they received, hopefully this business will eventually come under fire from the ADA for their actions. read more

Not many rides but most of them are good, the racers and the blue slide and the coffin is the fastest in my opinion so those are the ones to definitely go on I just wish there was more rides read more

We come a few times a summer to enjoy the water park. We have a son with autism who requires a caretaker. This is the only amusement park in NJ that does not offer a discount for this situation. Perhaps the management should embrace families of special needs people and join the rest of the state in their kindness towards us. read more

Kids had fun, but its a rip off and they were done with everything in under two hours and wanted to leave. So between entry for two kids and an OBSCENE charge of $12 for a TINY locker they needed to store their phones, I spent $50 per hour for two kids. Never again! read more

We're out from California and decided to check out the Jersey Shore. Breakwater beach was definitely a highlight of our trip! We went with a group of kids 8-14 and everyone had fun for hours! The older ones got board after awhile, but I told them to go back and they quickly forgot they were bored. Facility was clean, staff was friendly and I felt my kids were safe with the amount of life guards and security that was present ! Smaller park but really fun!! Thank you !! read more

Super clean waterpark. You don't get hit with that overbearing smell of chlorine. I think they might use salt water because i did get knocked over in the wave pool. Ohhh let's talk about the wave pool. I thought the waves were never ending. They must have been going for a good 10 minutes. So much fun ! Loved the waterworks area especially the padded slides for 12 months and up. Lots of lounge chairs and everyone was friendly. Downside is the size of the park. You could hit all the rides in about 2 hours. I would never pay full admission. Will return next year at off times spring / summer for discount. read more

Had stopped by here over the weekend on the boardwalk, and I was pissed I spent so much and could not get refunded. They should have a water temperature sensor in the kiddie area so you know whether or not to come in before you pay. Obviously I would not bring my 5 yr old daughter in if I knew she could not play in the kiddie area for more than ten minutes, because it was freezing! It was only a 82 degree partly cloudy day, and these people are A****les! I wanted my money back because like I said I would never have brought her in if I knew it was going to be that cold, the Ocean was only 68degrees that day and it was warmer than this water! this place has 2 big tube slides, 2 medium sized tube slides, a kids play area, a lazy river and like 5 small to medium sized body slides. we got here at four and stayed until it closed at seven and with kids from age 10-14 and adults everyone had a great time! I would recommend coming after 3 because it's cheaper and less busy and that's really all the time you need. the lines when we were there on a Friday in july from 4-7 were really short. another good deal is to get the ride and slide combo which gives you unlimited rides at the amusement park and waterpark for the whole day, which we got. the water was a good temperature. overall I thought it was a good deal and pretty fun for what it is. it's no hurricane harbor or anything of that size but still really enjoyable. read more

Went this past wkd with the kids and hubby 7/17/16 a Sunday. We left the Bronx at around 7am stopped for breakfast at Mickey D's which is about 10 min away from the waterpark. Parked in front of the waterpark at 9:15 ($2 meter parking by the hour) stood online to get the early bird special which is, if you buy your tickets from 9:30 - 10:30 it is $27 over 48" tall all day admission. Compared to if you buy them after that time $35. Waterpark is not humongous but it is def. worth it. The jumbo lockers are $15 and they give you $5 back when you return the key so we paid about $117 for all 4 of us. For food we ended up going to the boardwalk which is across the street. But food in the park the slice of pizza, fries and soda combo was $6.95, they had a hotdog combo which was $8 I believe, chicken combo was $12 The food on the boardwalk is what you expect, funnel cake, sausage sandwiches, philly cheesesteaks. We went to 3 brothers pizza very very good crispy and big pizza. 3 slices 2 with pepp. 2 plain, 2 jumbo sodas and 1 lg $21 normally I would say that is exp but the pizza was good, large and crispy slices overall would go again, it wasn't crowded wave pool the kids loved, lines on the slides were not long at all if you had to wait it would be about 5 minutes read more

Let's start off with why I'm giving this place a two star it's because the food is good and there are some fun attractions like the orange slide. Now the reason I'm upset is because I went here today and went into the attraction in the front with the bucket and made some friends when you go up the stairs there is a bucket that dumps automatically and people like to hold it and let it fill. My brother pinched his finger and the bucket dumped on a woman and her granddaughter and then she starts screaming at him cussing him out and he tries to be nice but she yells at him. After a minute some manager comes and kicks us off for "more than one complaint" it was just the same two people. Also a guy told my brother he was going to shove a pipe up his a**. When we got kicked off we tried to explain what happened but he told us to go to another attraction. This was very rude of him to do. Some staff are nice but these few staff members are very rude. I would rather people go to the water park in Wildwood no instead because it's bigger and there is more to do and a lot less rude staff little to none. May not come to this place ever again if you read this and go to this water park please go somewhere else to enjoy your day unlike we did. read more

I'm a reader of yelp reviews and don't usually write them. Today, I had to write one. That's how frustrating our experience was at this water park. It was a perfect water park day, 90 degrees and sunny. Drove all the way from NYC to seaside just to go to this water park. Paid well over 100 dollars for admission, locker keys, and parking. There were about 10 people in the whole park when we got there about an hour after opening. I thought it was strange, but figured that maybe people didn't know that it was open after Sandy. The park is beautiful and seemed clean and well staffed. My five year old was so excited to go in the kiddie area that she ran at full speed into the water and completely froze 2 feet in. Literally. The water was about 50 degrees. So cold that the 30 seconds that she was in the water left her legs completely pink! I thought that maybe she was exaggerating at how cold it was, so I went in after her. It was unbearably cold. Tried the next ride, the lazy river, same thing! I spoke to three lifeguards, asking each whether or not the water was heated and which rides would be warmer. They all responded that the kiddie area was the coldest and to avoid it all together. Even more frustrating, two of the three told us that the water is usually heated, but for some reason, the heat was not turned on today. The only heated attraction was the hot tub, which was not recommended for children. This is after reading the website this morning and it stating that the rides are heated. We go to a lot of water parks, and did not expect the water to be 80 degrees on a hot day. But really, even an unheated backyard pool is bearable and even refreshing on a hot day. We were in the park a total of 15 minutes. My 5 year old made it clear that she wasn't going to be going back in the water, and honestly, I wasn't either. Spoke to guest relations and they told us that the water felt cold because it was a windy day. Really? It gets really windy on the wildwood boardwalk but the rides there don't give you hypothermia, but I'm no scientist. They refused to give us a refund, but offered us readmission for another day and told us that they couldn't do anything about the 12 dollar locker fee for the locker we didn't even use in the short time we were there. Well, we explained to the manager that we spent all of our cash to get in and park so we thought that we would have to tell our daughter that we were driving all the way home. They told us that they don't give refunds and pretty much blew us off. Decided to make it a cheap day at pt pleasant boardwalk. Wound up having a great time, no thanks to breakwater beach! As we walked out of the park we saw a bunch of little kids standing at the edge of the water shivering in towels. Guess they weren't going to stay either, big disappointment. It was OK, the kids had fun, and the warm pools were a fantastic find on a sometimes chilly, sometimes rainy day to warm up in between. However, quite expensive for what was available to me and my two kids, both under 48 inches. Also, I was quite angry that they take a $5 deposit for the locker key, and will ONLY refund it to the Surf Card. That's fine if you live in the area, but the waterpark was our last stop on the visit and we headed home immediately afterward, essentially losing that money since we weren't going back to the boardwalk to spend it. Breakwater Beach is a top water park. There is a great kiddie area, a variety of 1-2 person water rides, a wave pool, a (small) hot tub and a nice "lazy river." There are tons of life guard (teens) stationed throughout the park. There is food/drink, a dipping dots stand and even a bar now, tho the wisdom of that escapes me. There are lots of chairs about the property. There are discount rates during the first hour open and at twilight. Municipal Parking is available but it will cost you $2 an hour. Check the website for admission pricing - top rate is @$35 for those over 42". Lockers go for $17 and $20. You do get a $10 card to use at their arcade etc when returning the key, which surprised me because I thought the website cited a $5 card, but it's still a bit pricey. The food concession will get you, too. For a 20oz Coke and a Bottled water, chicken fingers (5 pieces) and large fries, you'll lay out @$22. Beware the seagulls lurking at the eating area. They don't scare easily. My 11 year old loved it, but after @3.5 hours she'd had enough for the day. read more
