Sesame Place is one of those 'Must Visit' places when your kids are young! We especially loved the parade that the sesame characters do. I was impressed with how large this park was & all the different ages they accommodated. We didn't visit the water park area because it was a bit too chilly when visited! Highly recommend!

I am in between 3 and 4 stars. The kids enjoyed and had a great time. However, we went to guest services to make sure our tickets were valid and active so we would not have any problems at the gate. Once we got to the gate it said invalid and not active. I had the confirmation number and email that we just purchased tickets and it still said invalid. We stepped out of line no problem and it finally came up and they check again but only 2 out of the 4 tickets populated as valid. Other two tickets said already scanned which was when we went to the guest service to check. Went to verify that is what happened and then they allowed us to enter after all of that. I take stars away because about 4 attractions were closed and not in use out of 13. Of course one of them being the Elmo slide that my son wanted to go down. The park attendants on the rides were not the friendliest. We definitely take the height requirements seriously and appreciate when they let us know if a child doesn't meet the requirements but not rudely. Seemed like a lot of workers did not want to be there. Kids love the meet and greets. The long lines moved pretty fast with all characters so that was a plus. Hopefully things gets better with the staff and they get the attractions back up and running.

My family was staying at the Jersey Shore and took a day trip here because our 3 year old son loves Sesame Street. The whole family had an excellent time. Loved that the rides were big enough to keep my tween (and adults) entertained, but that were made so that we didn't have to separate from our toddler. Loved how much of the park was water attractions since it was a hot day. We did the character lunch which was great to meet the characters without a line, and the food was really good. Unfortunately I had to miss my son seeing a few of the characters because I was stuck in the food line. I'd recommend if you go getting to the lunch early.

    Carousel was cute

It was good maybe for 8 and under? A bit worn out, not updated, run down. All the food places except two were closed and it was crowded. 90% of the workers obviously hate their jobs and children. Not a smile or upbeat attitude to be had there with the workers. One playground was enjoyable but you can do that at home. I would say go to the boardwalk, lots of delicious food, and the same rides. It was a Halloween theme when you walked in the gate but that was it. Parking is VERY expensive - it should be much less

Sesame Place Philadelphia is a family theme park and water park that opened in Langhorne, Pennsylvania in 1980. It was founded by Anheuser-Busch in association with Sesame Workshop. The park is based on the popular longtime children's educational television program "Sesame Street". A second Sesame Place opened in Irving, Texas in 1982, but it shut down within three years. A third Sesame Place opened in Tokyo, Japan in 1990, but it also closed in 2006. A fourth Sesame Place opened in Chula Vista (near San Diego), California in 2022. Anheuser-Busch sold off Sesame Place, along with other parks, in 2009. The current owner of the park is United Parks & Resorts. My family and I recently visited Sesame Place Philadelphia for the first time. Several months earlier, I thought it might be a good idea for my wife and I to take our two sons to see "Sesame Street Live". My wife said, "I've got a better idea... let's go to Sesame Place!" The park is located right outside Philadelphia. We were even able to book a fun Sesame Street-themed AirBnb nearby for our stay. We ended up spending two full days at the park. It's much smaller than Disney World or Six Flags, but it's still a lot of fun. Some of the different sections include Sesame Neighborhood (a full-scale replica of the Sesame Street set), Sesame Plaza, Sesame City, Elmo's World, Cookie's Monster Land, Big Bird's Beach, Sesame Island, and The Count's Court. The latter three all feature water-based attractions. It was VERY hot on our first day in the park, so we spent most of it in the water area to cool off. There was also plenty of time for Meet and Greets with the characters, dance parties, story time, character brunch, and a fun parade! All four of us had a blast! We all enjoyed seeing our favorite Sesame Street characters; mine is Cookie Monster. We give Sesame Place our seal of approval!

Closed on a 100 degree day, WHY??

I feel terrible having to rate this so lowly but the system has to be equitable. It's basically on the same weekend that the CPB has to shut down. But then again, I don't feel too terribly when the likes of Sea World that owns the licensing of the Sesame Workshop are running this place into the proverbial ground. What was supposed to be several fun days at Sesame Place turned into a comedy of errors and overpriced nonsense, poorly trained staff, and a park full of trash by the end of a Saturday. It pains me to say that there are hardly any redeeming qualities about this place to make it enjoyable. Your young kids are hardly going to notice or mind, but from the person paying for everything, it ALL matters. To start, paying almost $40 to park with no tram services is a travesty. Charge $5 more per ticket or something and bring parking down to half that, it's a ridiculous way to generate revenue. Luckily we realized this after the first day and took an Uber from our nearby hotel the next time we were there which was just $9 each way. On our first day, a fairly busy Thursday....at least three rides were shut down and I've posted photos of them all. It's fine things are shut down because they need to be worked on, but I got confirmation that at least Wacky Taxi was down because of low staffing. WHY would you ever shut down the best ride in your park when staffing is low?? Then two waterslides were also not open on a day where the heat index reached almost 100 degrees. The humidity was up so the skies also opened up, we were at least able to score a free weather pass to return on our trip after only getting to spend a few hours there but we still had to drop the money on parking. During that visit, I had an inedible chicken sandwiched that was cooked until zero juices remained in it. The only highlight of the food was the nice fresh fruit that came with it. My wife's fries were pretty disgusting that came with her burger, that also looked like an overcooked puck when it came out. It's an amusement park, I'm less upset about the prices when the quality at least matches what you are getting but this sandwich I had shouldn't have cost more than $4 with how bad it was. We did get on a decent amount of rides but those we did, there is just no training of the ride staff in terms of making sure things happen efficiently. My young son sat out in the 100 degrees for like 15 minutes while a ride waited to fill. Yet, the one that ran right before him went on with just two people in it. The Grover coaster line still backed up because the staff couldn't get trains out on time and never seemed to care to have any order to it. Most trains (I timed them in line) would take close to 5 minutes in between launches. The next day we were there was Saturday and OH MY GOD THIS PLACE. It was crowded and that's fine....but the speed of staff remained. Why couldn't they run two trains on either of the coasters at the front? I could see an area that likely held additional ones in the Grover side area. This line was almost unbearable for a mini amusement park, things simply need to improve and get people boarded much quicker. They would have to search for people to fill a train after it's mostly loaded, even though the line is probably 150 people deep. QUEUE THEM UP IN ADVANCE. Then the trash around the time of closing was unbearable in areas. You can tell they weren't ready for the crowd to descend upon them for the day when they can't keep up with cleanliness. How can it be this gross? I truly don't get it. To top off the day of disappointment, the parade got stuck in place for almost 10 minutes and I still have no idea why. After everything else I witnessed, this also isn't even remotely surprising. Never again, Sesame Place, never again.

Ask the Community - Sesame Place Philadelphia

What’s a good discounted price to aim for?

What rides or things 23 months old can do, post pandemic?

It's more of a size issue, than an age issue. How tall is your 23 month old? We went when my daughter was like 18 months, and then like 21 months and both times it was the same rides. You (or another adult) will have to accompany the kid, but…

    Good for 1yr old?

    Yes

How much to enter the park?

Go to their website, the prices vary by date, age, etc. Check Groupon, too, because they run deals sometimes. If you plan on multiple visits a season pass may be the most economical option.

    Do you charge for parking?

They charged $40, $25 for handicap

Can you leave midday and drive somewhere for lunch and get back into the parking lot without re-paying? Is finding parking midday difficult? Looking for a solution for what seems like a lengthy stressful lunch situation. Character lunch is sold out

The-entry is allowed but you would need to re-pay for parking if you leave the lot. There's about 5…

Has anyone taken an uber (or lyft) from nyc (manhattan) to sesame place? That might be the quickest way to get there. Thoughts?

I haven't but I would look into a train, it may be less money

We are traveling from Texas just to take our son to this theampark, and were wondering if it is worth it?

If you are traveling from Texas (or from anywhere requiring a long travel period) ONLY to go to Sesame Place, then it's not worth it. If you are traveling into the remote area, Philly, NYC, or northern NJ for 7-8 days, and are looking for a fun…

Is the Friday night Spooktacular crowded? Is the only parade on Friday at 8pm or is there an earlier one? Is it worth it for a 2 year old?

The place is always crowded especially during holidays but there's a lot to do, so many rides and if it's hot they have pools and water rides, I have three children the oldest just turn 16 and the youngest 4 years old, I been taking the three of…

How is the Friday night spooktacular?

Spooktacular is their Halloween mode but it's really nice! You can carve pumpkins, ride a kiddie hayride, etc. All the kids wear costumes

Hello, Yelpers. Is there free WiFi available at Sesame Place? If so, which location(s)? Thanks in advance!

Sign says free wireless. Double checked out t as a go.

Has anyone rented a day cabana? If so, is it worth it? I have a 14 month old.

We just did and it was $300. Included free towel for everyone, unlimited drinks, a locker and a character visit to your cabana. We are returning in august and will rent again. We were all the way In the back and are going to try another location…

Is it manageable to do the entire park in one day? We live locally and would rather do a day trip if possible.

Yes it is! The park is not too large, so you can make your way around to most things. If you'd like to see all the shows (about 4) then you'll need to be strategic with your schedule. Of course it will be a long day, and you may want to come back…

Is this worth the trip in mid-May? Wanting to take my boys for their birthdays. May is the only month that we are flexible to travel. Is there enough to keep us busy for 2 days without water rides? Thanks!

If you stay on the dry side you only need one full day. On the second day I suggest something in Philadelphia or a day trip to the Crayola Experience (www.yelp.com/biz/crayola-experience-easton) and the Martin Guitar factory tour…

How much is entry if you buy your tix at the gate?

$70/ (24 months and up) at the gate. If live nearby, season passes is your best bet. Or buy online is cheaper than the gate

How are the crowds during the weekends in September? (Not Labor Day) is it worth taking off work to get there during week or weekends in September aren't too crowded.

Def worth taking off a day in the week. We went on a Friday and Saturday and noticed a big difference. During the week we could ride any ride with less than a 5 min wait. On the weekend we waited almost 30-40mins a ride…

I just purchased 3x tickets this afternoon for Aug 31st but didn't realize that they're valid starting sept 2-oct 29. Would they normally make an exception or are they pretty strict and can I also find out at the parking attendant?

I saw MANY people trying to use them yesterday. All were denied. It's for starting Sept 2nd, probably since it's lower season. Trying to bring people into the park. That's why they put the deal out. This week is high season with the end of the…

Hey guys, what's the best way to buy tickets for a family of 4? Two adults and 2year old and 5year old? Daily tickets or/and season pass? Thanks!!

If going more than twice, Season Pass! That's what we do. Then u can go summer, Halloween time, Xmas time.. just get one adult with a big bird pass for free parking. Everyone else can get the regular season pass. And all passes give 25% off food and…

Is welcome center inside or outside the main gate?

They have the actual welcome center inside the park, but Outside the park, past security, if another ticket/ information area :)

Have to say that while it appears to be an amusement park from beyond the fence with massive water slides and multiple aquamarine pools for various uses; from within it makes more sense and is actually quite attractive in a hyperactive way. Happy Hour with half price drinks was a good deal, and the bar food offerings were also well designed to complement the alcoholic drinks, if not all that tasty, nor compelling in their own right. So many people in a relatively small space around the bar, that conversation was a bit challenging. Plenty of alternative distractions among the many "beautiful" folks who enjoy being the center of attention, and know how to do it right, especially when encouraged with beverage. With music playing in the background the experience was a mixed bag. Clearly, the plan is a bit over the top, and made for people with kids or those who like this glitterati experience. Yet, there was a full house that evening, and business was booming. Covid put an end to the crowds for the last year, but I suspect the club will be back in action full tilt come vaccinations and reduced mask wearing. I'm the more cautious type, and will wait a while before accepting my next invitation.

What is up with the music here? It reminds me of a scene from The Wire (the season where they focus…read moreon the teachers) where one of the teachers talks about turning up the heat in the classroom because it keeps the kids tired and groggy. That's honestly what I think they're doing with the music here. They're trying to sedate us. Don't get me wrong. I love some good '90s/early-2000s R&B. But when I'm splashing around in a wave pool with my five-year-old, I'm not sure I need to hear: Sparkle - "Be Careful" Brian McKnight - "Anytime" Brian McKnight - "Back at One" 112 - "Cupid" Joe - "I Wanna Know" Boyz II Men - "A Song for Mama" Like, I love the sappy, nostalgic stuff from the BET Best of Planet Groove album as much as the next person but maybe not while I'm standing waist-deep in a wave pool trying to prevent my five-year-old from wandering into the deep end. At one point I genuinely thought: Are you trying to put me to sleep, or are you trying to make me reflect on my first girlfriend? Because it was working. I'm standing there thinking about how we used to eat at the Kmart Cafe before the Birds game on a Sunday afternoon in ninth grade. Ahh, life was simpler then. Now I'm trying to explain to my kid that he cannot go any farther into the wave pool because he doesn't know how to swim. Does he understand? No. Does Brian McKnight understand what I'm going through? Apparently not because he's serenading me like I'm sitting alone in my bedroom staring at an old photo album. I'm just asking for a little more BPM. I'm not saying turn the place into Disney Jr. radio but maybe we can at least move the R&B selection from "Anytime" to something with a little more bop. Give me "Honey". Give me "I Get Lonely". Give me early 90s Janet. Give me literally anything that makes me feel like I'm at a water park instead of recovering from a breakup in 2002. The music selection is so bizarre and noticeable that it actually became one of the defining parts of my experience. At some point I started wondering if I needed to be evaluated for some sort of condition. The fact that I'm writing this review probably means I do. As for the rides: my five-year-old absolutely loves them. He'll pretty much go on anything except the two rides tucked into the corner of the park. One lifts you way up into the air for a nice view of the park and the other spins you around real fast. Everything else is extremely tame. My eight-year-old daughter will do everything and is gradually getting bored with a decent chunk of the ride section of the park. She absolutely loves the rock-climbing wall and rope course, though, and would probably spend the entire day going back and forth between those two if I let her. She also loves the entire water park. One big tip is if you're local, keep an eye out for the Black Friday season-pass sale. They usually have a fantastic deal and if you're planning on going at least twice over the course of the year, I'd strongly recommend just buying the season pass when it goes on sale over the holiday. I believe it's around $80 per person for the season pass, give or take $10. I honestly don't remember the exact price. Friends of mine who went recently said they paid around $50 per person for a single day. I do not think it's worth it at that price. Overall the kids love it, there's plenty to do, and the water park is adequate for kids. Just be prepared for the possibility that you'll spend your afternoon fighting the waves while Brian McKnight emotionally transports you back to a relationship you haven't thought about in 20 years.

The rides park was fun, but the construction-themed rides/activities definitely felt repetitious after a few. The price of admission could be a littttle more affordable as well.

I had a very disappointing experience at Clementon Splash Park…read more I purchased four tickets through Groupon and drove to the park expecting to enjoy the water attractions. When we arrived, we found that a large portion of the water park was closed due to what staff said was cleaning because a situation occured. Only the kids' splash area and a small pool were open, which meant we couldn't use the attractions we paid to enjoy. I asked the park for a refund, but they told me to contact Groupon because that's where I purchased the tickets. When I contacted Groupon, they told me they had called the park, and the park claimed everything was open and operating normally. That was simply not true based on what we experienced. My question is: why tell Groupon that nothing happened and that the park was fully open when a significant part of the water park was closed? If the park couldn't provide the experience customers paid for, it should have been honest with Groupon and helped process refunds instead of sending customers back and forth. I wasn't looking for special treatment, just a fair resolution. Being caught between the park and Groupon, with each pointing to the other, was frustrating and disappointing. I hope the park takes responsibility and is more transparent with both its guests and its partners in the future.

If I had to describe this "Park" in one word it would be Dilapidated…read more Excluding the water park area, there were only four (4) working rides in the entire park. Everything else was literally out of service (see photos). This is prime time for visiting and this many nonworking rides?! How is the only rollercoaster in the park out of service! Sea Dragon - out of service! Marry-Go-Round - out of service! Kiddie pool slide out of service with dilapidated ship! The list of broken rides goes on and on! There was a section of rides for smaller children but the entire section was closed. I saw workers sitting around doing nothing. Like they were just waiting to clock out. The lazy river was "meh" if you could find a tube to float in. There were not enough tubes to accommodate the waiting visitors. It got so bad that parents were literally arguing and pulling tubes from other visitors. The staff was not regulating any of it. It was a disaster. I kid you not, there were roughly 30 tubes to 80 people waiting. The food catered to the SAD (Standard American Diet) and was over priced. One order of fries and six chicken nuggets cost a total of $24. You notice that price doesn't include a drink right? Tah! That's another separate price and they don't give you a lid or a straw! My daughter enjoyed the wave pool. That seemed to be the highlight for her. Other than that, and the one other splash area that was open, they can keep this place. I never liked this place as a child. I thought it was too small and not enough rides and today it's much worse. There's really no point in coming here unless someone treats you and you didn't have to come out of your pockets. They really need to shut this place down if they aren't going to fix the rides. They need to get rid of all the dilapidated rides from the 70s/80s and rebuild the park from scratch. It really makes me wonder what they are doing with the money families spend to come here because they aren't putting any of it into fixing up the place.
