Had the BEST smoked Salmon, Smoked Bluefish and Smoked Shrimp sampler today. I could eat this for every meal for the rest of my life! Amazing smoked fish and smoked fish spreads. My sister had the Gespacho TO DIE for--(she let me taste it.) and my friend had the wasabi Tuna Wontons--sooo fresh! That was the appetizers. Then came our entrees Grilled salmon bowl and Grilled Swordfish bowls with brown rice and sautéed veggies. And Lobster Ravioli-- I so wish we had found this place the first day or our trip. It made all of the other restaurants we visited PALE in comparison! Had the pleasure of visiting Breakwater the other day. My sister & I tried a bunch of their offerings...wasabi tuna wontons & tuna Poke were freaking amazing! So fresh and such a great explosion of flavors in every bite. Their smoked fish sampler...Omg, the flavor out the fish & those spreads!!! My favorite was the blue fish & salmon can't pick just one! lobster ravioli was excellent...I couldn't stop eating ‍. Meet Maura one of the owners while we were there, so nice and very concerned that we were enjoying the food, welcomed any thoughts on it. Well todays Father's Day and I figured I would splurge on a whole belly clam plate. This establishment is walking distance from my house and I have been here 4 years and thought why not give them a try. The staff that took my order was really kind and friendly as was the gentleman that brought it out to me. The outside seating is nice and they try to keep it as private as possible being right on the street and bike path. The whole belly clams were cooked perfectly and all 9 of them were very clean no sand or shells. The fries were a little under cooked soggy. Now for the 3 stars even though the clams were some of the best I have had in a long time for $37.99 there were only 9 which was very disappointing even the under cooked fries were under portioned. The slaw was amazing best ever crunch and taste loved it. After spending that kind of money and for the portion I was left unsatisfied. Big question is will I go back I'm just not sure. read more

Delicious lobster rolls--fresh, good size portion and not heavy on the mayo. A nice treat

We have loved this place in the past & try to come back every year but it's going to come off our Cape Cod "to do" list. The bread outweighed the lobster meat 2:1 making it hard to enjoy the lobster. When I expressed my surprise over how little meat was on the roll the woman working there she said that was the same amount they have always used which can't be true because I would not have come back multiple times for that. Thankfully it tasted good but too many places have way more lobster meat & at a better price. Lobster roll was $38 & for two of those plus one beer we were at $100 with tax & tip. read more

as we were staying close by, we stopped in to try the lobster roll. pricy at $30 but it was the best i've ever had, delicate and delicious. i didn't feel they skimped on the lobster but rather the lobster/roll ratio was perfect. fries were crispy and yummy and also enjoyed the coleslaw. i'll be back to try the smoked fish spreads. read more

Staying on the Cape for a week, sad to be leaving so after a day on the beach all we wanted was a low-key seafood place with picnic tables, umbrellas, good beer and fresh ingredients. Breakwater Fish and Lobster Market was nearby and the pictures fit the bill. Menu looked great but my eye went immediately to "Raw Brewster oysters". We were in Brewster. They had to be fresh, right? Our family knows oysters. Every dinner party and holiday dinner has a few dozen of assorted varieties. We only buy marine varieties with the hope they'll be small, sharp, briny and intensely flavored. We carried our quest for great oysters to France where we lived for six years. Same deal. Picnic tables and raw oysters along the Atlantic and Med coasts (where they sold cold bottles of delicious white wines. Brewster oysters and this restaurant/market are in our top five. The oysters are a few hours out of the water. Firm. Intense. Bring but with a long and complex finish of rich flavors. I ordered a second dozen to make sure I wasn't dreaming and to try to identify the flavors. I'm not good at verbalizing taste sensations. That being said, any future visits to the Cape will bring us back here. If you love raw oysters, you must not miss this experience. read more

Great food and friendly service!! Very nice outdoor seating and decent beer selections. Fried fish is fantastic and some unique dishes on the menu as well. The owners let us try some great soups on the house which was delicious. Very friendly people. Only suggestion would be to add some music to the Outdoor atmosphere. Slow service on a lazy saturday afternoon. It took them 30 min to make a lobster roll and fried fish sandwich. Really? It wasn't busy either when we were there. There was one order ahead of ours an we were the only ones sitting outside and eating. That said, the lobster roll and fish sandwich were good. I highly recommend checking out Breakwater's menu. I love and miss GOOD, FRESH seafood. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and we were pleased to discover the different places he finds his catch. I never realized the differences in taste from one oyster to the next and the quality is questionable at some previous places I have visited. Fun Fact: Did you know oysters harvested in the sand vs mud taste incredibly different? Sand tastes much cleaner! (The ones I had Breakwater were from the sand) We didn't just have Oysters though. We started with ordering the little necks (take notice they are served raw) they were delicious and with very little lemon for seasoning they tasted fresh and so clean, no grit! My father then ordered the lobster roll which is a classic item we order and he was pleased with it and the fries were a good side for your "beach" feel, I ordered the broiled sword fish (gluten free) with a side of veggies. I wished I had more. I gobbled it up so quickly I almost forgot to ask my father if he wanted to try some. I forgot to mention they have a fish market inside too. Perfect little place to get a TRUE experience of amazing seafood of all varieties. This place captures the essence of all Cape Cod has to offer. Bonus: Easy to find AND it is conveniently located right next to the bike path. PS The owner says he is working on more Gluten Free options!!! The lobster came cracked, so we were able to get the meat out of everything except some of the knuckles. The lobster was fine. The coleslaw was tangy - not really my thing. The butter was fine, and the fries were OK (it's hard to judge fries in a to go order - maybe they are great when they are fresh). I wish they put a wedge of lemon in the package. Overall, Breakwater was very convenient to where we were staying, and I'd get lobsters to go again, but would ask for a sub for the fries - something that could sit for awhile. read more

This is a fish and lobster market, so they're getting fresh catch delivered every day and you can tell the scallops, clams, lobster and fish are fresh from the first bite, but on top of that they created a batter that has a wonderful flavor that isn't overwhelming, so the fresh seafood taste comes through with the support of the batter. Quick update All good things come to an end....we returned twice since initial visit. Both of these experiences were less than good. Orders each time were off missing items and when kindly asking rudely had their order ticket waved in our face as if to say "the customer didn't know what they ordered". I think the issue is they may be too busy and need to listen better. Just saying but with such a limited menu how tough can it be to get things right. We're done here. They may succeed but it will not be based on good friendly service but as is typical on Cape....just because other choices are as lame. read more

Can't beat the freshness, there is a fish market inside, window on the outside to eat and order. I got a lobster roll which came with fries, a few onion rings, and Cole slaw. And now the terrible... had a tuna poke bowl and the pineapple was rotten and the tuna was discolored and tasteless from sitting in the pre-made stew of ingredients. Used to be a regular customer. Even though the owners were very unfriendly, the seafood was generally good. Today I found out that they don't require staff to wear masks, and they have a sign on the door saying that they won't answer questions about their vaccine status. A hidden treasure! I learned to love fish and chips when I was living in England, and the Breakwater would give any fish and chips shop there a run for their money. The fish is super-fresh and cooked just right; the batter is light with just the right amount of crispiness. The fries are just excellent -- tasty, great texture. They're so good, they're the only fries I've ever doggy-bagged! The coleslaw is first-rate too, fresh and not too sweet or gooey. My family loves it! Next time I go, I'm going to order the clambake (1 day advance notice). It only costs about half of what other places charge. Everything I've bought at the fish market part of the business has been super-fresh and reasonably priced. The smoked bluefish pate is a great treat, and the frozen clam chowder is very, very good. It's full of clam flavor and has an excellent texture: it's thick from the cream and potatoes (not all gooey like other clam chowders that are thickened with too much flour). Another great point: you won't have to wait in a long line, because the Breakwater is a little way off of the main road (Rt. 6A) and hasn't been discovered by the crowds. read more

My wife had the tuna, it was served sushi style with seaweed salad, organic brown rice, Asian slaw, cucumber, mango, edamame, sesame ginger dressing. Our family orders our lobster dinners to go. We have done it the same way for twenty plus years. We always went to captain Elmer's which unfortunately closed this year. So, we ordered our lobsters with this relatively newer fish market. We like to order 3-4 pounders steamed and cracked. This new place charges two ($2.00) extra dollars per lobster to crack them. To us that seemed excessive. We skipped it and cracked them ourselves. At dinner, I reluctantly commented to my MIL that these were really tough lobsters. The tail was so hard to cut and eat. It was like gum. My comment got a dirty look from my husband. I thought it was because the lobsters were to big. But after a lot of research and debate it turns out that it has more to do with the preparations and cooking. So, next time, skip this place steaming your lobsters and do it at home. read more

This fish market is great! The Tuna Wasabi bites are delicious and the Poke bowl was excellent. My partner had the Swordfish wrap with lemon caper sauce and it was also great.
