Also a little disappointing that they only give you one tiny thing of butter. Which I had to share with my son who also ordered a lobster. Which they did not include any butter for his.... One thing I was a little disappointed on was the clam chowder is not gluten free but I can't take points away from my own allergy. My son said it was absolutely delicious and fresh.. I just wish it was gluten-free so I could have had it.. We were staying at a cottage so we didn't have our normal supplies of butter and etc... We've driven by this place for years, it doesn't look like much from outside and I'm not one to seek seafood next to 7/11s. We fucked up, this place is really good. Well fried, very clean oil and fresh tasting seafood. Smelled like the sea on the ride home. The honey Sriracha brussel sprouts are one of the best sides I've had at a NE seafood joint. This was our first time trying this place, anytime we drive by they are busy! So we were super curious to try their food. We ordered online for pickup, which was great, very easy and straight forward. Food was ready within the time frame specified and still hot by the time we got it home. French fries were really nice! I usually don't like this style of thicker fry, but they were really crisp, not crunchy, they didn't taste fishy at all. I was pleasantly surprised. Fish was underwhelming, you expect the fish to be the star but when the fries are what you remember over the fish, something is not right. Don't get we wrong, it wasn't bad! Fish was well fried, flaky and fresh, but it was super simple, almost borderline bland. The portion was also a lot smaller than what I expected for the price point, 4 small, half of your palm, 1/2 inch thick pieces per order. Some pieces were thinner, some thicker, I'm not sure how they portion it, maybe by weight? It's a no frills kind of place, so I understand the store bought, prepackaged, industrialized, processed tartar sauce, but I wasn't expecting it based on the price point and image/reputation. It seems as if the family fry for 4 is the best value on the menu. It's definitely the way to go and if we order again, that's what we'll do. Finally got to try out the Osterville Fish Market and it was great! I had fried Cape scallops and my husband had the fish tacos. Excellent! Cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. A lot of other people must agree with us. A Tuesday night at 6pm in the off season and there was a steady stream of people picking up food and the phone was ringing off the hook! Great find from Yelp reviews. My husband and I enjoyed picking out our own lobsters which they steam for free. You can also order a lobster platter with sides or get a baked, stuffed lobster (extra charge). The lobsters were pricey, but top notch and full of meat. Seating is outdoors - very pleasant. My only complaint is that they don't serve the lobster with real butter - it appears to be some type of colored, flavored oil. The flavor is there, and it plays perfectly with the fish- not over taking the taste with that fried oil flavor you get at cheap places. The fish was flakey- soft yet firm enough to hold it's shape and not fall apart. Fries were good as well. The pieces were all different sizes, which is actually a good thing since they're using fresh fish. But the portion size for $14 was totally fair- everyone was full. Came here twice. We ordered prepared food one night. We asked for the broiled haddock to be blackened and it was very good. We also ordered the broiled fish plate with the shrimp and scallops. The scallops were some of the best I've ever had. They were tender and flavorful. We also had fried calamari- amazing. I forgot how good fresh, non frozen calamari tastes. Was in the area to watch a cape cod summer league baseball game and stopped by this little fish market. Wow! So happy I stopped cause the food was excellent. I tried several items and they were all good. My favorite was the fried haddock fish it was so light and tasty. The oysters were also really good. I eat oysters but never have had any on the east coast these were my favorite so fresh. The chowder was also very good. I also had a stuffed quahog and that was good. I was craving fish and chips. I'm at a light and see this store. Never been before but it's a fish market! I ordered the fish and chips, planned to over indulge with the spicy sweet chilly calamari. It smelled kind of fishy in the car. Brought it all home and opened the fish and chips first. The fish was thin, best guess would be tilapia possibly perch (I thought it was going to be cod at least, as I made the mistake of not asking first). It tasted as though it was taken out of the freezer and dropped into the oil. Didn't taste like a fish and chips that you would expect at a fish market. The calamari was soaked in the sauce which in turn made the calamari soggy, the tentacles were a solid mass much like a ball. They weren't separated as they fried. As it is take out, the sauce should be on the side so the calamari stays crispy, or to easily reheat then dress. The gentleman who served me was very pleasant. What a great find this was. I called in an order, a broiled seafood plate, and it was really great. The breadcrumbs on top added nice texture and the portion was good. Just stopped by to pick up some fresh seafood for dinner. I almost missed it because it was in a little strip with a 7-Eleven. I am glad we Found it though! It was a simple store with a tank for lobsters when you first walk in and a case with fresh seafood. You can also get fried seafood to go. The menu looked great with several specials that sounded good like Mexican corn. Several customers ordered the clam chowder, so I assumed that was pretty darn good. The man who helped me was very kind and even offered to let my daughter hold one of the lobsters... She nervously declined though ha ha! He was very patient as I tried to decide what I wanted to order. We walked out with three lobsters, 1 pound of mussels, and 1 pound of shrimp. He even threw in a lemon for us. The total was only $61. I'm not sure if that is a normal price, but I think that's pretty darn good for the amount of food we got. As we walked out, he overheard me saying that we needed to stop and get ice. He told me there was no need and he went to the back to bring out a bag of ice for me. I totally understand that tourists can be obnoxious, but he was very kind and answering my questions and I am sure that the food will be delicious once we cook it tonight. read more
