My first time here for lunch with two women friends. We shared a bowl of lobster bisque and I agree with many other Yelpers now: it's a must get. Lots of lobster chunks and while it has cream, broth is lighter, perhaps due to a tasty lighter broth mixed in. The clams over pasta was the garlicky classic. Two of us tried the flounder special, over a bok choy salad with lots of crunchy texture. Inventive. In terms of ambiance, a cute little place. Our server was ok; hard to get her attention at times. But we had a nice conversation with her at the end, when most other diners had left. For us, it was a nice lunch place to catch up! Spent over two hours! Always a good sign when the parking lot is full and there is a wait to get seated. We were told it would be an hour before we would be seated, but that was okay. We were not going anywhere. I ordered drinks at the bar to take outside to drink while we waited for our table. After just 30 minutes the hostess came looking for us to seat us. A pleasant surprise. We went right to the menu and ordered oysters on the half shell and calamari as appetizers to split. I ordered the seared tuna and my wife ordered the steak and frites. Both courses were delicious. No room for dessert. Our server was attentive and friendly. The place is small, but not uncomfortable. They do a good job of incorporating the small space they have to work within with the number of people who show up to eat here. Glad we saved this place for last evening on the Cape. read more

We came here as we needed a quick dinner before my friend played at a Gala in Brewster. The server and maître de guided us to choices. We had the calamari, was fresh and had an excellent crunch to it. Portion size was perfect. I had the lettuce salad with salmon. The salmon was perfectly prepared. A nice crunch and moist inside. My friend had the Caesar salad with grilled shrmp. Shrimp was perfectly grilled. Best part we were in and out within 40 minutes and made the event on time. We have always had amazing meals here and great service! It's a small place but feels nice and cozy. I most recently had the Sea Trout, which tasted a lot like salmon and came with sunchoke and farro with mushrooms. When you take a vacation by yourself because your husband is golfing every day during golf season- you look ok for local. Small restaurant with a small bar which made this very appealing. We had a good experience here. Don't judge a book by its cover ... what looks like a little shingle covered shack on the outside is actually quite cute inside. It reminded us of the french bistros we ate in while exploring countryside towns throughout France. The bartender (owner?) seemed a bit prickly/unfriendly ... maybe just busy prepping for dinner as we came for a late lunch. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient. The menu here is small-ish and there were a handful of choices. We settled upon their fish house chowder, fish tacos, fish sandwich and fried scallops. The chowder was cod and clam ... fishier than ordinary clam chowder but not overwhelmingly so. It was thick and creamy. The fish tacos were flavourful but I would have ordered a different dish if I had to do it over again. Two tacos was a bit skimpy. The fluke was cooked well but in 5-6 bites, both tacos were gone. It was more of an appetizer portion. Scallops were great. Pretty typical of fried scallops you'd get anywhere on the Cape but done well and full of flavour. The sweet potato fries which accompanied them were a little underdone. Fish sandwich was again fairly typical ... no complaints. Everything was cooked well and tasty. Its a bit fancier than your average seafood shack ... its clear they have a good chef who understands flavours and seasoning. We all enjoyed our meals, though nobody was 'blown away, by what we got. The atmosphere is immaculately clean inside and decorated well in a vintage style bistro kind of way. There is also outdoor seating on metal tables. Less picturesque than eating inside. Overall, we would return if the menu changes up to keep things interesting. Brewster is a cute town and this is right off the main street. Another great dinner at Brewster Fish House. Nestled in Brewster "The inner elbow of the Cape" This is a true gem on the cape. The food is spectacular and everyone that runs the restaurant makes you feel like family. You'll definitely have to try the rangoons and ceviche. For dinner you can't go wrong with any of the choices, but the big eye tuna and steak frites was the choice for me and my main man Fil to split. Fils wife was in heaven as she enjoyed her chicken special. The wine selection is Amazing and you can't go wrong taking a recommendation from Phil the master mixologist. The night was finished off with an amazing chocolate chip cookie dessert that received the coveted 3 licks award. This is a decent fish restaurant with some fine dining to sleepy Sunday Jazz vibes but missed the mark for our family with young kids. Atmosphere/decor: lacquered wood meets white table cloth niceties. It has an air of regality but in a more casual town/area, but it's neither one or the other completely. Mostly elderly folk were at the restaurant on a Sunday for brunch/lunch. Service: It was slow and a little painful. The folks said it'd be on the slower side up front, but it was mega slow. And multiple things came out at odd times, including some of the quicker items that didn't require much cooking/prep that were suggested to wet the appetites of our young kids. I got the sense that they didn't know how to handle young kids here. They were kind and flexible. Accommodating once to replace one of the adult beverages we were served when it had clearly gone bad. Food: There were lots of excellent grilled, sautéed, and broiled seafood options, many with pastas. Not a whole lot of non-seafood options which is fine, as it is called a Fish House after all but important for potential attendees to know. The pastas weren't spectacularly well cooked -- often times too overdone and no al dente which you'd imagine they'd have from the decor and prices. The seasoning and sauces were a little lackluster all around. It is a more delicate flavors kinda joint which is fine -- not looking for heavy creams or over salted items, but unfortunately savory and well balanced they were not. No one in our larger party finished all of their plate. Perhaps they were just understaffed the day were came -- in the kitchen and server-wise -- and other people would have different experiences. Drink: Pretty nice list of beers and wine. Some curated and good suggestions with pairings. Price: Pretty expensive for some of the quality we experienced. It's not unheard of pricing for some of the peers that bill themselves as finer to very nice dinning, but with different results. I'd say leave the kids at home for this one. I'd give it another shot in the future if some local friends convinced me this was a big one-off. read more

Stopped for dinner on a Saturday night, arrived about 6PM and lucked out and sat at one of the last available tables opened. Small restaurant in a old Cape Cod style house, quaint decor. Smaller menu selection as not that large of a place. Wife had their Cod special came with mashed beans, roasted peppers and fried eggplant pieces, wife said it was delicious and great flavor, finished it all. I had the flat iron steak entree on menu and was delicious the toppings and street corn with sauce really gave steak a great taste. Steak was a bit chewy but still tasted great. Also tried the sea food chowder and the lobster bisque. Not enough sea food in the sea food chowder. Lobster bisque was a bit different then I am use to as was more liquidity and more a cream color however tasted good and had a bunch of lobster. Service was ok seated quickly however took about one hour for our main courses to arrive out to table. Would have gave 4 stars for food however waiting one hour for main dishes to come out with no explanation why knocked it down to 3 star rating. read more

I have been DREAMING about their homemade crab rangoons all winter long! Hands down one of the best restaurants on the Cape. I have been to Brewster Fish House a couple of times and I keep coming back for more. The food is always delicious and fresh! My all-time favorite here is the crab rangoons! They are quite literally to die for. Perfect crunch, filled to the brim with filling, and hot when you get them. I have yet to have crab rangoons anywhere else that compare to the ones here. As far as their entrees go, you honestly can't go wrong with anything! Their fish tacos are perfectly spiced and scrumptious. Their lamb shoulder and risotto (a special of the night) were creamy and extremely tender. You won't be disappointed by anything on the menu! read more

It pains me to write this review. Our previous visits have been extremely enjoyable in every aspect and I have waxed rhapsodic more than once. But something has happened since last summer when we last visited. The ambiance is still nice, the service is competent and friendly, but the quality of the food has taken a nose dive. We were a party of six and everyone ordered different appetizers and entrees. So this review isn't about one problem entree, it's about totally uneven quality. One of us had the Sea Trout and it was undercooked in the middle. A fish house that can't cook fish?!? The raw oysters were very good, but the calamari was undercooked and cold. The person who had the raw fluke liked it but the much vaunted fish chowder had almost no fish of any kind and was served lukewarm. The lobster was shredded bits in a tomato-ey sauce with pasta and peas and was extremely chewy. For that price, what is going on?!? This has always been our gathering place, but I guess we'll have to look elsewhere for fresh seafood. So sad. read more

I'll go out on a limb and say this is the best restaurant in Brewster, if not all of the Cape. The seafood is so fresh, and their cooking is almost unexpectedly sophisticated and thoughtful for a low-key, casual restaurant. Everything hits the all the right notes: scallops and cod get a deep, beautiful sear, but are still buttery in the center; the fried fish has a nice crunchy batter, but is perfectly moist, tender, and flaky underneath, and all of the sides really complement the seafood. If you love scallops, you'll be in heaven, the lobster rangoons will ruin rangoons for you everywhere else, and the bisques and sandwiches are as good as they get. The only downside of this restaurant, and probably the only reason they don't easily have five stars, is their god awful, infuriating non-reservation/waitlist system and grouchy hostess, although I think they're trying to be more friendly this year. Just deal with it and you'll be happy for a great meal. read more

Having just arrived for a 5 day visit we were excited to get a table last minute at Brewster House on a Friday night. The service and ambiance were great. Three of us got the scallops but were all disappointed especially since they were beautifully presented. The scallops were so salty that it was hard to finish the meal. I am not sure why chefs think that they should salt food so heavily. Having discussed this with several foodies they all agree that this is not a good epicurean trend. Our other complaint was that there was a very small amount of vegetables with our dishes. I would return to Brewster House but will be more careful about what I order. read more

We went for dinner on July 4th. The service was excellent and they were doing a great job keeping everything clean and the customers safe. We shared the oysters and house made crab Rangoon for appetizers. My friend had never tried crab Rangoon before. (Who gets through life like that?). She was very hesitant but loved them and we ordered more. They were obviously freshly made with the perfect crunch on the outside with creamy, crabby inside. They did not skimp on the crab. For entrees we had grilled cod with pickled mushrooms, Israeli couscous & cauliflower as well as the salmon with heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil, fresh moz and a balsamic drizzle. Mouthwatering is the best way to describe the whole meal. This along with excellent service is why Brewster Fish House has been and will continue to be a go to spot on the Cape. read more

Brewster Fish House is a quaint and local restaurant with great service and excellent food. We started with drinks, an old fashioned and a glass of Sancerre. First course was a bowl of chowder and it was hot, creamy and filled with clams. Main courses we had scallops which were cooked perfectly. They were seared and tender on the inside. The butternut squash ravioli with mushrooms and bits of potatoes was excellent and a lovely fall dish. There is plenty of parking in the front of the restaurant and reservations are a good idea, especially on weekends, holiday weekends and the summer season. read more

Even though we did not have reservations, we were seated right away (we are here the week before the season starts). The small bar was full when we came in. Tonight I decided that I wanted a meal so I did not order an appetizer. Majordomo got the lobster bisque and said it was delicious. For dinner, I ordered the tuna and he went with an appetizer of shrimp. My tuna was prepared just the right way with bright pink on the inside. It was served over Bok choy with lemongrass and oyster mushrooms. It was wonderful. His shrimp appetizer was served over a risotto. The shrimp were large and the risotto was cooked perfectly. Had a wonderful light lunch here, ate outside. My wife and I stopped for lunch. We were welcomed immediately and seated in a few minutes out in front. We both had a cup of fish chowder - the best I have ever had. Heavy cream, very flavorful broth without the gloppy, starchy feel that most chowders on the Cape have. The fish was flakey, but sparse. The clams were very tender. Small serving size, but fantastic taste. We split a lunch entree, the fish and chips. Flakey, fresh, delicious fish, delicately fried. Great home made French fries, properly salted, crisp on the outside, hot and perfectly cooked on the inside. Even the home made slaw, with several cabbage types, was delicious.
