I was super excited to FINALLY try Crossfit after it "seemed" that I won a "6 week transformation challenge" to "promote" their gym. I take two hours out of my day to wake up early to go to their interview only to find out at the very end that I didn't win anything. It's $585 for their 6 week challenge. "What"!!!!! Even before the interview, I texted Bucky to ask if it was a gym trial and for more "info" on the challenge. Here, he had a chance to explain to me that there would be a cost involved. Instead, he said he'll explain everything when I get there. So basically they used deceptive advertising / promotions with absolutely ZERO disclosures to lure people into the box. Whether intentional or not, that's just SHADY and unacceptable business practice. When I mentioned the ad, Bucky just quickly apologized and offered zero recourse. Because I own a small business, I would have at least offered some compensation for wasting time out of my day for their use of "misleading" advertising. But nothing but an apology was offered which is a bit disappointing - I mean even a two-week trial at the box would have been better than a simple apology. The Facility: The box itself wasn't quite inviting. It's large but hardly anything inside - almost like a small airplane hangar. Yes, I know that most crossfit boxes are like quite bare bones - but this one was particularly bleak. I would believe parking would be a issue they are located in a highly industrialized area where a lot of businesses share the same parking. Other than the issue I described early, it seemed that the pricing is quite high. $145 / month for up to 12 sessions and $185 a month for unlimited. Wow, that's quite high when you run a "gym" with hardly any amenities (not sure if they have showers / locker room). Additionally unlike other mainstream gyms, crossfit boxes have very little costs in terms of machines, maintenance of machines, and electricity from machines. So I had to ding a star off my review simply due to high costs. I mean, it seems that the targeted crossfit client would not be "typically" in the affluent range so nearly $200 / month is quite steep - especially in urban Kaneohe... My 24 Hour lifetime membership is about $100 / year comparatively. However understandably, crossfit will provide you more personal trainer type mentoring versus a big box gym where you are on your own - so perhaps the monthly costs are worth it if you fall in that category of needing mentoring. So because I couldn't participate in the "crazy" offering to 'promote' their gym, I can't comment on the actual workouts. (I'll attach the ad that I "fell for") - it even came with advertising "trick of the trade" countdown timer However, simply due to their deceptive use of advertising practices and their rather "curt" texting / messaging communication practices, I'd look elsewhere for my first Crossfit experience. read more

Located on the back side of Windward Mall (Regal Theater) across of Alaloa Street in the brown warehouse building. There are no signs, but it is close to the back side next to a tow company. There's no parking within the private lot, so it is street parking. It's a warehouse space, so if you have never done CrossFit before, don't expect a gym setting with carpet and air conditioning. Coaches and staff is friendly and helpful. They are very knowledgeable and is willing to help you achieve your goals. If you are interested in trying it out without committing to it, there is free intro classes on Tuesday nights at 7pm and Saturday mornings at 10am. Many people have heard of CrossFit or has seen the games on tv and has told me "I'm afraid, it looks super hard" - it really is not. The work outs are scaled to your own abilities. I've been doing Crossfit since before anyone ever heard of The Games or The Open. I've belonged to a few different boxes and visited many more while traveling. I've also done the big-box gym thing, Orangetheory, and spinning. I can say that hands down, Crossfit has been the best and most effective training methodology for me. So, why Crossfit Kaneohe? The coaches here truly care about your fitness and your development as an athlete. If you are new to Crossfit, you'll attend elements classes where they teach you the basic movements you need in a non-intimidating environment. Everyone is rooting for you! Bucky and Stephanie work incredibly hard to make this place more than a gym - it's an ohana. The fitness/nutrition challenges they regularly run are life-changing. I moved here and lost at least 25 lbs thanks to participating in a couple of the challenges, and I know I'm not the only one because I see it in the gym! All abilities are welcome, there are no divas or egos to contend with. There is always plenty of space, it's very clean, and the workouts are always different. Well well, what can I say about Crossfit? It's challenging, but I definitely don't regret signing up for it. I went to my first Crossfit class at the end of January. I went to the free class that they offer every Saturday morning at 10am. They offer a free class on Tuesday too, but I never attended it. I'm assuming it's the same though. Bucky was the trainer for that session and he was super friendly! (He also has the cutest dog too, so sometimes you'll see the doggie in the parking lot or at the front of the gym. ) I won't lie-- the first class of Crossfit kicked my butt. I was definitely out of breath and dripping in sweat, but that just meant it worked me hard! I hesitantly signed up for the elements class. I was hesitant because it seemed really hardcore for me. I wanted to make a change and running every other weekend wasn't going to give me the results that I wanted. The elements class was good- they are mandatory sessions that meet twice a week. You must complete the elements classes before you have a regular membership. It's pretty cool because after your first week or so, you are allowed to go to any other group classes for free. It's like an unlimited membership to Crossfit on top of the elements class for that first month. I liked the Elements class because you are with the same people that signed up for that month, so you meet people fast. Keep in mind that you must sign up for the elements class at the beginning of the month because you can't join halfway in. You'll have to wait for the following month to sign up. I "graduated" from the February elements class and I stuck it out for the entire month, so I continued my membership by doing 8 times a month in March. As we are coming to the end of this month, I am considering to do an unlimited membership for the month of April. I still count myself as a newbie because I still don't know all the names of all the moves and my form isn't very good especially with weight lifting, but Bucky is always helpful and he explains things really well. It was very intimidating at first glance, but I'm starting to like it more and more. My fiance claims that I've toned up. I personally don't know if it's possible to see results that fast-- he may be saying it to motivate me. haha. Whatever the case, I will take the compliments! The most important thing is that I feel good and if you want a good workout-- Crossfit won't let you down. I will most likely stay at Crossfit for awhile (except for the month of July, since i will be freezing my membership due to traveling) so if you see me, be sure to say hi! read more

This is a great Crossfit box tucked in the industrial section of Kaneohe. There is only street parking but the facility is well-equipped and the members are very friendly and welcoming. Don't be scared to try it! The coaches are very knowledgeable and will walk you through every movement in every class. I've been going to this box for almost two years and it's great. I've gotten so much stronger and more flexible since I started, and I look forward to each workout because of the people I get to see and hang out with. I've never though that I would actually do crossfit until I tried the "New You Challenge" here at Crossfit Kaneohe! Let me tell you that it's no walk in the park..it totally kicks your butt (and everything else on your body lol) !!! But that's exactly what I needed and need! Our coach Stephanie has been so amazing from the start, even though it's classes with others you feel like it's personal training every time! She's also so encouraging and pushes you to push yourself yet understands and knows your limits. She's able to scale certain workouts so you're not half assing it but doing it the best you can! Hands down this is THE BEST GYM that you can find on the Windward side. I joined CrossFit Kaneohe on a whim because I saw that they were offering a 6 week challenge for those who were new to CrossFit or looking for a different fitness challenge. The initial meeting with Coach Bucky went well and he answered all of my questions about the fitness challenge and what it included. Next I had the opportunity to meet with Coach Steph and went over nutrition goals and fitness goals as well as getting my initial weigh-in stats. I was nervous about CrossFit because I'm not the most athletic person but we spent the first week going over basic lifting techniques as well as SAFE lifting techniques. After that we got the okay to participate in the daily classes and could choose what day and time fit into our weekly schedule. I just finished the 6 week challenge and lost 6 lbs of body weight and 3% of my body fat. It doesn't sound like a lot but I definitely gained more confidence, more energy, and made a whole bunch of new friends too. After I finished the challenge I signed up for a year long membership to keep on track for my fitness goals and weight loss goals. I would highly recommend signing up for the six week challenge first if you're interested because you'll have support both inside and outside of the gym. read more

A little back story about myself...I HATE fitness and LOVE food esp with gravy all ova! Now fast forward 6 weeks, I LOVE fitness and found a love for HEALTHY food, no gravy involved ;)..CrossFit Kaneohe has definitely SAVED MY LIFE and that is not an exaggeration. Walking into this box that my brother forced me to "just check out" I had my doubts. But in my heart I knew that I needed something in my life to change before it was too late to do anything about my unhealthy habits. I told myself "give them 6 weeks of trust, listen, do what they say and if you don't like it at the end at least you tried." The 6 week challenge (what I started off in) is a nutrition/workout plan/guide and it's great for people like me who don't know diddly squat about how to eat right. The best part of the 6 week challenge is the ACCOUNTABILITY, Steph & Bucky we're always asking how we were doing with nutrition, and ALWAYS available to answer any questions I had and pumping me with confidence every step of the way. I wish it was longer and most likely will try it the challenge itself again! You can see how contagious the positivity is through out the entire community! I am NOT a social butterfly, I'm quiet and keep to myself mostly but everyone I've come across has made me feel welcomed but most of all CONFIDENT. EVERYONE has had their struggles but instead of pointing fingers at each other, they embrace everyone's differences and skill levels and only want you to do better. It's the best community I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. It has changed me in so many ways, I thought eh, cool, maybe I can loose weight, but no, I got so much more than that. My overall way of thinking has improved 200% I am not battling my anxiety and depression as bad as I was, I was smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day! Now I'm down to about 8 and still heading in the direction of quitting :), my children are seeing the difference in me and are even eating healthier and talking about fitness with me, I get pumped thinking about how I'll be able to look back through out my CrossFit journey and see how much progress I've made, I am a positive and productive person now and I have CrossFit Kaneohe and everyone there to thank! My plan is to continue as long as I can, and if for some odd reason I don't keep up with it, I know that I've gained a lifetime of knowledge and support...I don't believe I did it, I believe WE did it because I honestly don't think I could've overcome my own obstacles alone. read more

I didn't know what to expect going into CrossFit for the first time, especially not being in the best of shape. Stephanie and Bucky really take their time every class to show everyone the correct form before doing any activity and keep you at a pace that is best for your level. They are exceptionally motivating and the other members of the gym are such a close group that always lended a hand when I needed it. I couldn't believe my results after just a couple weeks of going and how much better I felt, which has led me to be more active outdoors when not working out at the gym. Coach Bucky and Stephanie are super helpful and welcoming. They did not just help me getting through the classes but took time to talk about nutrition and ways to help me meet my goals. It is a great atmosphere and the other members welcome you as well. Its always scary being the new guy but this gym made it very easy to meet new people. The workouts are challenging and I had to learn a whole bunch of new skills but the coaches take the time to walk with you through the motions. I was looking for a Crossfit gym once I got to Hawaii after doing it for a month before going to OCS. A friend recommended Crossfit Oahu and all the branches and told me about the one in Kaneohe. I started the elements class and made some great friends. It was great to be in a class with people at the same skill level especially starting out. After I graduated elements, I became a regular 6pm'er and made so many more friends. I'm also getting in shape and having a great time doing it. I love all the extra classes and clinics they offer. Thank you. There's no words to express how grateful I am for this gym, and this family. I've had back issues for the past three years. Off and on steroids/pain killers, in and out of school/work for weeks at a time. My doctor misdiagnosed me with a minor disc bulge because he refused to give me an MRI. In December 2018, I bent down to grab something, and couldn't get back up. I was frozen on the ground in excruciating pain. My family called an ambulance, and when the paramedics picked me up from the ground, my family said they've never heard screams like mine before. I blacked out multiple times from the pain and was truthfully scared that I'd become permanently injured/disabled. Fast forward a bit, three full weeks of not being able to walk without assistance, use the restroom, shower and do the basic "independent" things... really shrunk my self image and self worth. Fast forward a bit more to March, I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, with a 6mm protrusion into my spinal cord. I then finished a full round of physical therapy with some relief. But I still couldn't confidently lift even 25 lbs off the ground. Fast forward again to June, I saw an ad on Facebook for a 6 week challenge. I immediately was intrigued because my PT exercises weren't doing anything for me anymore. I outgrew the exercises they gave me... I knew I needed a push, and I threw myself into unknown world of CrossFit. I immediately got contacted by Bucky and Stephanie, and set up my consultation appointment. After sitting and talking with Bucky, I knew that this was the right move for me. I signed up, strapped my shoes on, and went to work. I tried my best every day, and they helped me scale everything to where I'd be comfortable. I'm so excited to say that after two months of being with this awesome xfit family, I feel like I'm on the right track to full recovery. I haven't had any sciatica pain since I started and I never thought I'd be running again... let alone pushing weights. Today, I hit a personal record, 163 lb on a back squat. I joined Crossfit not knowing what to expect but knew I needed a boost physically and mentally. I have to say so far it's amazing. Stephanie and Bucky are awesome trainers, patient yet motivating, upbeat and and non judgmental. I've never joined any type of group fitness because I was always nervous about not being good enough or not being able to complete the workouts. When I walk in the door it's such a motivating environment and they really push you to excel and get better and make you truly feel like you can do this. Once you have that push you know you can. I love it, it's exactly what I needed not only physically but the mental challenge as well. If you've ever been hesitant to join a group class this is the one to join. The team atmosphere, awesome workouts and physical challenges only help you excel as the best you. I can't wait to scale and get better and do all those things physically I've always wished I could. I LOVE CrossFit Kaneohe! I was intimidated at first, but once I got started in their "New You Challenge" I experienced how amazing the coaches and people are. I have two young children and wanted to get fit again. The last time I worked out like crazy was in high school. So as a former jock, the workouts just worked for me. I like the pure intensity for short periods of time. This place isn't pretentious, we just workout. The coaches are exceptional at what they do and they are friendly. Crossfit is addicting. I'm a full-time mom and Crossfit just makes me happy. I also got my husband to do it so he goes in the morning before work and I go in the evening. Sometimes we bring our children while we workout.
