I had to hold our baby throughout my entire two-hour appointment, and everyone was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful about it. They made what could have been a stressful situation so much easier. On top of that, the exam and cleaning were very thorough, and we both felt like we received excellent care. They are not my friends. They are my dental support team for the care of my teeth. In this regard, they exceeded my expectations. I am recovering from 3 hours of the removal of an infection and a temporary crown this morning. This afternoon, I am not in pain and do not require pain reliever. That's a first. Looking at the price for the crown, it is consistent with what I was charged by my previous dentist before I moved into this area. This is not the first time I've seen negative reviews based on personalities but at the end of a long day, I want to know how good this dentist is, not if they can be buddy buddy with me. What I found was a 5 star dentist with excellent dental skills. The addage is that you get what you pay for but I see superior dental care within the realm of what is expected for dental care costs. I have an overbite. Invisalign has been recommended but i can see why. My front lower tooth is butting up against my tooth front teeth. This recommendation is one that is needed. The staff did not recommend any cosmetic dentistry. They recommended what was needed. It is very hard to wade through reviews and pick a dentist based on reviews, but I want to let this one stand as a factual and experiential review of an outstanding dentist who is professional. I would rather have an excellent dentist who maintains professionalism and excellence of dental care than be a chummy friend. However, as she drilled for my crown you see, she paused every few minutes to ask how I was feeling, and she asked if the pain control from the shot was working for me. She is sensitive to her patients, she crosses her t's and she dots her i's. She's officially my dentist and I know that with her and her staff, I'm in good hands. 5 stars given.

The Good: They scheduled me for the same week in which I called. I was very surprised and happy that they confirmed they took my insurance and agreed to get me in so quickly for an exam. The Bad: the day of the appointment they called to discuss the details of my arrival. I told the staff I only wanted a physical exam and then a cleaning, but no x-rays for health reasons. After conferring with the dentist, the staff member told me x-rays were mandatory and would be necessary for a treatment program. As I don't have any issues, only a desire to receive prophylaxis care to keep it that way, I only wanted to buy the service I needed. Aspen dental opted to cancel my appointment for my refusal to receive extra services, rather than just do an old fashioned oral exam and cleaning/polishing. Not impressed. Customer service has seemed to plummet in recent years; turning away clients who won't be upsold is no way todo business.

I thought calling themselves the Root Canal specialists was a little corny, but they lived up to their name by doing ONE thing and doing that one thing incredibly. Dr. Clark was very approachable and open to questions. He explains what and why he was doing something. His "chair side manner" was great. The office atmosphere was nice (though a bit on the chilly side), and you got headphones and a movie to watch. That really does help the time go quickly and also helps avoid the awkward situation of the dentist feeling obligated to talk to you and you not being able to answer with your mouth agape. After having braces when I was a kid and getting them taken off, once he took over the practice it was a nightmare. I "had" to get braces and a whole bunch of nonsense to the point my mouth was mostly medal when there was nothing wrong with my teeth. This contraption they put on my back teeth to widen my jaw forced my teeth to go sideways...therefore scratches my cheeks. Another wonder he put in my mouth forced my bottom front teeth to literally come out of my gums. I was in tears as my teeth were literally being slowly pulled out and my mom was beyond terrified. Once, I made an emergency visit to his office in South County, his assistants took over an hour trying to figure out how to get it off, because he was busy. I was screaming and crying in pain other people left from the horror of my experience. He had no remorse for what he did. Then, called my mom saying "I was rude." He is unprofessional and careless, the only thing good about that place is at the time they had good staff that cared. Another occasion where I had to come in, he had put so much glue ,on now my very sensitive teeth, the assistant took away a tool that was too harsh and told me that she would make sure he didn't use it. He asked for it, she told him....multiple times, he used it anyway. Was working very fast and rough thay I pushed him away and starting screaming and crying, he told someone else to "deal with me." End result: my teeth that didn't need much work done, are worse than what they started to be, very sensitive and now my jaw is completely messed up. Hope this helps.

The problem is his staff/office manager and the utter disrespect and rudeness that she displays. My daughter is 2.5 hours away at college working before and after classes while maintaining Deans List quality grades. This woman is both rude on the phone and in person. She expects clients to drop everything to return calls and rearrange their schedules. Last year we were told the doctor would make every effort to get my daughter in as a last appointment on Fridays because her class schedule meant she couldn't leave until late morning/early afternoon. And if there is a lot of traffic in her 2.5 hour drive she could potentially run late. The doctor was as kind as he could be about that when we explained her scheduling issues but when my daughter showed up for her visit, she was berated by the office manager for not getting there earlier. Recently it took her a little time to call back when the manage needed to reschedule a future appointment but my daughter DID reschedule it before she came to her appointment last week only to have the manager berate her again saying she had to call my daughter twice and leave messages. Twice. Wow, must have been really inconvenient for you to leave 2 whole voicemails before getting a call back which you are getting paid to do. We pay out the nose for Invisalign's. We are not at your beck and call and no one compensates us if we have to miss work to work around your limited schedule with no weekend appointments. Sadly it is not just a single person or incident. We know of a prior customer and one other current customers who have the exact same complaint about the shocking rude behavior of the office manager.
