I did not want your typical huge diner meal, which is much too much food, so I went with a nice dinner size Mediterranean Salad. The food was excellent - top quality fresh ingredients, put together beautifully and delicious. I was equally impressed by the service. When I travel to New York, I will often run into people who are not particularly friendly or helpful, including many who work at restaurants. This was not the case at all at Imperial. They were kind, and eager to give me a great experience. For a diner, it was not too noisy, and everything was very clean. Prices were very fair too. The only thing lacking .. and I saw this a lot in New York, was non-alcoholic beer. I cannot drink alcohol, and this is something I really enjoy with my meals. Imperial does have a variety of "Mocktails" .. so there are options for folks like me ..but it would be nice to see some beer options for the growing number of people who either cannot drink, or prefer to avoid alcohol. And of the 3 or 4 options, Novi is the nicest. Unfortunately, the bar staff has become just dreadful. When did it become too hard to make someone feel welcome in your establishment? A simple "Hello", maybe a smile? Most of the the bartenders are walking around SO depressed, one almost wonders how they can even be out in public. Some of them are so chronically depressive I don't want to be anywhere close. It is so bad that many in the area have stopped going. Yeah, that bad. None of us have ever seen anything like this before. The one exception is Melisa, who is always charming and a joy to chat with. The rest? Well, we are all going elsewhere now.

The other day I woke up at 430am and couldn't fall back asleep, so I decided to start my day early with a sunrise paddle. I quickly grabbed my gear and ventured out in the waters. It was about mid tide and I encountered only three vessels out there, 2 of which were the giant Freeport fishing charters. Check out the photos and videos I just added, they speak for themselves!
