It was my first time at the nautical mile in freeport, and I decided to stop by Hibiscus on the Mile at Elliott's for brunch. Nice establishment right on the water took the elevator up. Seated right away, staff is very friendly. There Alot of options on the menu ordered : margarita, no salt, no sugar dry rug wings, French fries, and a house salad. The service was quick, nice size portions of food taste great. Once it gets warmer, I will definitely return and sit on the patio outside it. It is a nice view of the boats. read more

Came here for a baby shower last weekend. It is a beautiful venue right on the water in Freeport. If you're anything like me and love photo opportunities- this is a great place. I do want to mention parking is a little hectic but there's a lot right across the street. The bartender at the shower was awesome and serving drinks left and right, but what made her even better is the way she made the mimosa- all champagne and a drop of OJ! That's the only way! The appetizers were definitely a hit but my meal was a little subpar. I don't think it was really much to write home about but it does make me want to come back and try things off the menu to make a better call as I did have a great time and the appetizers were good. read more

I've always wanted to go to Nautical Mile so I decided to take my mom there for lunch. Since it was a Monday and lunchtime the area was empty - we had our pick of parking spaces (that's a rarity) and was promptly seated when we entered the restaurant. The restaurant sits on the water and has an outdoor bar and seating area on the water - it's a very pretty and spacious restaurant. I started off with a Pina Colada - I like creamy coladas, this one was more like a slushy or like shaved ice with coconut flavor poured on it. Needless to say it had little to no alcohol and I really didn't like it. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder and the shrimp basket. My mom ordered the fish and chips. I will say we were both pleased with our food. Everything was fried perfectly (not too greasy), the soup was good as well. It was a great lunch. The service was good - our waitress was attentive and kept checking on us. I hear that it gets pretty crowded on Nautical Mile on the weekends, but I would love to come back on a Friday or Saturday night to check it out again. read more

This was my 1st visit to Hibiscus at Elliot's. We came for Easter Sunday dinner. The place of course has a beautiful ambiance if you are sitting outside. Since it was still chilly we sat inside - on the 2nd floor away from the bar. Pros: The staff could not be more nicer and courteous. Everyone we interacted with were very nice Everyone wore mask Staff enforced mask on customers Tables were 6 ft apart The shrimp scampi over linguine tasted great and so did the mozzarella sticks and cheesecake Cons 1. We ordered the burger medium and it arrived rare 2. The Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Jambalaya arrived lukewarm at best and within 15 mins was COLD. Also the rice was not cooked well so we kept getting raw rice grains while chewing. The taste wasn't anything fantastic. It didn't taste horrible but I can't say we were blown away either 3. Coffee wasn't fresh 4. We paid for a Prix Fix menu to get the molten chocolate lava cake for my son but when we asked they said they ran out. They did however offer a slice of cheesecake instead 5. The women's bathroom decor is just wacky as you can tell from the pictures. There is a crack there and they are trying to hide it instead of fixing it but not sure if you can fault them for that since with Covid everyone's just trying to survive I'm not sure we will come here for dinner ... perhaps in summer will try their bar and see if the drinks are better than the food. read more

Last night I embarked on a canoe journey from Baldwin Harbor to the tip of the Nautical Mile. As I reached the end of the Woodcleft Canal, I noticed the inviting lights from inside Elliot's restaurant and decided to check it out. There was plenty of docking space for my canoe so I pulled in, tied her down tight, and climbed up the ladder. Once inside, I was warmly greeted by the bartender who asked that I sit at a table adjacent to the bar, as per covid rules, understandably. I regret that I forget his name (a few beers will do that to me) but he was super nice fellow and a good conversationalist. I always appreciate that in a bartender, especially when I dine alone. There was a table party of about 6, celebrating their birthday. It was fun watching as they and the bartender exchanged fun, teasing banter back and forth. I can certainly see this place being great for people watching, as things slowly return to some resemblance of normal. I was torn between ordering the crab cake sandwich or the fish fingers and fries. As per his recommendation, I went with the ladder. I'm glad that I did as they tasted super fresh and hit the spot. They were lightly battered, which was a nice change of pace from the usual over-battered and over-breaded fish that I've had at other places. I must have appeared ravenous because I finished my entire plate and two consecutive beers within minute. I hung out well-past my meal watching baseball and wrestling on their many tvs. I didn't feel rushed or unwanted whatsoever, which was very nice of them. I drove here all the way from the city (about a hour and a half drive) and it was worth it. It's located in Freeport, NY so it's off the Nautical Mile. The sea view is absolutely amazing!! I had the Penne Ala Vodka with shrimp and it was delicious. The shrimp was so fresh and the pasta sauce was unique but I loved it. I also got a glass of Pinot Grigio which paired well with my pasta. During my meal we heard a DJ start playing music and it was a pleasant surprise. I'm from Jamaica and it was so refreshing hearing reggae tunes as I enjoyed my meal. The staff was amazing, they were great and showed us amazing hospitality. This is a great restaurant, they had some of the freshest seafood I've ever had. Highly recommended. read more

Fantastic service and delicious seafood!! Made a reservation for a large party on Memorial Day to celebrate my mom's birthday. Our table was ready on time. The staff was extremely friendly and fast-moving. We ordered mussels, oysters, crab cakes, wings and coconut shrimp as appetizers- all of it was so fresh. I personally enjoyed the crab cakes the most! For my entree, I had the lobster roll. Good size, it was average tasting, but still good. Definitely a refreshing choice on a hot day! The coconut margarita was also sooo yummy. They have many seating options; I would recommend making reservations. So this place is now Hibiscus at Elliots. Idk when that change happened or if how much things have changed but this place surpassed my expectations. So we came on a Monday night. Everything else on the mile was closed and we were a little hesitant but I'm so glad we gave them a try. The food was delicious!! I got penne a la vodka with shrimp. I assumed the shrimp would be frozen tasting but it was cooked to perfection and the vodka sauce was yummy!!! My son got the spicy burger and he wolfed it down. He loved it. I dined at this restaurant with friends during my first visit to nautical mile. When we arrived I parked with their valet and approached the host for seating. Of course due to covid 19 quarantine restrictions they offered dining outside only which we anticipated. But we did not expect that they were not serving any alcoholic beverages that day! I personally wanted to try another restaurant in the area that we could order drinks at but my friends we're hungry after a long day out. I ordered the shrimp basket as well the lobster Mac n cheese. I wasn't impressed with the food at all. The shrimp basket was ok but the lobster Mac n cheese was a waste of money! It was clearly a box Mac n cheese with lobster simply added. They also added a topping of shredded cheese which was not even melted. Midway through my meal the valet approached me with my car keys and stated that he was leaving early. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night. This place wasn't my first choice because I saw it only 3 stars, but whatever, I just went along with it. We made a reservation here because the other restaurants along the Nautical Mile were either first come first serve or had full reservations. Honestly, we probably could have come without making a reservation. It didn't look that crowded. They had a drink menu but no alcohol for some reason. We should have read through the previous review that warned people about that but oh well. Some men were doing construction near us by the empty bar without masks on. We asked what they were building but the waiter just ignored us. Overall, the vibe felt off. The food was just ok. I had the jambalaya and I had asked beforehand if it was spicy and the waiter said "a little". It was not one bit spicy. Stars off for the inaccurate food description. The service was terribly slow and it was not even crowded, we decided to try their Jerk chicken Fried rice & some wings and fries. The food tasted good when we finally received it. The environment isn't kid friendly, more of an adult atmosphere. The DJ kept playing songs with A BUNCH OF CURSES and a lot of families with young kids were there. This was on Father's day Sunday. Had never been in here before so gave it a try since most restaurants on the Nautical Mile were closed. Much older clientele, bar stools kind of wobbly and there were flies inside. Got a beer and was very excited to order their Poké appetizer as I had just been in Hawaii and loved Poké. It was $16 and was literally 3 bites. Very little fish and 3 thin wafers. It was tasty but definitely not worth the money. Will probably skip this place in the future. Good parts: nice views, music nice and not loud to allow conversation, has a dining room upstairs separate from the bar. Has railing outside so people can go out and look at water during nice weather. There is a yellow boat floating next to restaurant where it looks like tables can be put out for nice weather. Also has outdoor bar(closed as it's April) Revisited in October 2017: Much better experience this time. Went in during happy hour and the place was quite noisy as the patrons were loud but they were pleasant. Bartender Annmarie was very good and we were served right away. Ordered the tuna appetizer off the menu and it came within five minutes which was awesome compared to 30 minutes last time. Multiple flatscreen TVs are great for those that want to follow the sports games, not great for an intimate evening but they do have an upstairs dining room which is much better suited for that. We used to dine eb elliots all the time and really enjoyed the service and quality until a few years ago. We noticed a change in the food quality and an increase in pricing. The last time we dined here must have been 6 years ago. Last night we were feeling nostalgic and decided to give them a try. The appearance of the menu has changed but number of the original items still remain. My husband ordered the broilrd seafood combo and I ordered the penne alla vodka and requested they add spinach however they didn't have spinach so I settled for broccoli. Our server was courteous and friendly, however the food service was very slow. I believe we waited about 40 mins. I should mention we opted to dine inside we were the only table, outside on the 2nd floor there were 2 tables,the bar area was maybe half full. I would assume they were short staffed in the kitchen. When the food finally arrived it was standard, the seafood was fresh but a bit bland. The most flavorful item on that dish was the mash potatoes, they were creamy and pretty good. My dish was ordinary but i liked it. We finished our meals and the service to clear our dishes was very slow, the staff walked past us close to half a dozen times and looked at the dishes and just kept walking. What can I say, food was just ok service was below average, I might return as a last resort if I'm starving. Definitely not the eb's from 10 years ago. read more

This was the worst birthday experience. I took a chance coming to this area for my birthday. All the restaurants in this area had poor reviews. Based on stars, Elliot's was the best of the worst. Long story short, I will never doubt yelp again. The reservation was not ready at the time it was planned for. My guests said their food was bland. The reason I am reporting for my guest is because my food did not come out with everyone else's. It took so long I just asked for it in a box. Our waiter is the only reason I am giving 2 stars. The dude was legit and on top of things. I can't blame him for the kitchen snafu. He was pleasant and courteous and got our drink orders out to us quickly and correctly. It had mango sauce on top and wasn't bad although I've had better. The coconut shrimp appetizer with mango sauce was fried well and taste good. No shortage of mango sauce there. We visited this place during a high school reunion. There is both an indoor area and a nearby outdoor bar. One of the weird things about the place is that apparently you have to run up separate tabs at the two different locations. They ought to figure out how to fix that system. This was especially important because, when we were there, the taps at the indoor bar were not working, but we wanted to move outside because even only half-full, the inside din made it hard to have a conversation with old friends. The selection of drafts was pretty weak -- Guinness was the only beer that was even halfway dark I had fish and chips which was, well, fish and chips. My wife had the house salad which was pretty good, colorful with lots of nice fruit. Place could have got three stars, the two star rating is for the following service problem. By the time we were ready to leave to go to the next reunion event, the place was nearly empty. But it took our wait staff person nearly a half hour to accept payment from the couple in our group that had asked for the bill first, then to get done with us. With the first couple, the staff person lost their credit card and then took quite a while to find us. Then, for us, she had to ask us what we had eaten, then she brought us the bill which was for someone else (not a single dish or drink was what we had had); then she subtracted some items to get close to the right amount. As we arrived we started to notice that the nautical mile is not what it used to be...so we parked and started our search for a place to eat. Listen the place is not the most desirable nor does it have the best food. So we continued walking and ended at this place, very friendly , had a DJ , it was ok . Finally came down to try this place after passing by it so many times when visiting the Nautical Mile. I had a taste of their clam chowder at the Yelp Chowderfest event last year and remember it tasting amazing. Even though it was the start of summer, I couldn't pass up a bowl of the creamy goodness. Just like I remembered it was creamy, rich and full of clam, potato and celery flavor. My husband and I also shared a Bavarian pretzel for an appetizer. It was pretty impressive in size and was served with a spicy brown mustard and beer cheese. I really like that the pretzel came out hot and soft. For the entree I got the lobster roll sliders. This was prepped the buttery Connecticut style as opposed to the Maine lobster salad style. The lobster was very fresh. It was served with a side of crispy french fries which really made it a great meal. We sat outside since it was a warm night. They had a band playing live music which was very nice around sunset. I did have to dock one star for service. It was difficult at times to try to flag down wait staff. Visited Elliot's on Friday evening of Labor Day weekend. Nautical mile was pretty quiet everywhere, and Ellitot's was as well. We had made a reservation and were seated at a kind of awkward table for 4 upstairs kind of crammed next to a wall. But right away a hostess upstairs came and asked if we wanted one of the open tables next to a window, so they moved us over which was very nice. Our updated view of the water and the boats was beautiful. Bread was put down as soon as we were seated (at our new seats), and it was pretty delicious. We asked for some extra of the brown bread, and they brought it out a bit later, but it was warmed which was great. Menu was decent. There were only 2 specials, and there are no substitutions offered on the specials (they wouldn't sub vegetables for the pasta on the fish special). We had a salad, 2 specials, and 1 fish dish (I don't remember the exact orders and it doesn't look like the menu on their website is up to date). Overall the food was pretty good, but nothing too special. Location was great, right at the start of the nautical mile, we had a nice stroll after dinner to the end and back. There was a DJ playing music at the outside bar when we left, but it was chilly and windy so we didn't stick around for too long. And they do have valet parking across the street which was nice. read more

Came here last night for dinner with the wife. She wanted to try this place. Outdoor seating was awesome. DJ was there playing some good music also. Food and drinks were great, however they need to brush up on their service. We waited almost 15 minutes before someone came to our table and ask us if anyone took our order. At this point I was about to just leave, but decided to give it a try. The staff seems to be more efficient with their regular. He was very apologetic and took our orders and made sure we were good for the rest of the time we were there. They need to be a bit more attentive to their customers. Came here for our friend's birthday party. I was somewhat excited from the pictures on yelp as they are deceivingly nice. As we walked in, we noticed the first floor bar area smelled of urine and stale beer. We were second floor indoor dining area and away from other tables. My fiancé and I ordered the coconut shrimp, lobster roll, and the fish tacos. Food - 1 star: The coconut shrimp was served on a very small bed of wilted greens and doused in sweet chili sauce. Tasted good but were small pieces that your probably get from a pre-packaged frozen coconut shrimp that were dumped into the fryer. The lobster roll (hot) was served with fries and was almost inedible that now in hindsight I probably should've sent back to the kitchen. Lobster was skimp and was VERY VERY dry, almost inedible, and likely not fresh. Was not served in any sort of sauce, maybe reheated with butter, so I had to ask for some mayo in order to even stomach the roll. This was probably the worst lobster roll I have ever eaten. The fish tacos were served on flour soft shells, topped with coleslaw, and chipotle mayo, and was a decently sized meal and okay. Others in the group ordered pasta dishes that looked at least okay. Maybe I should've ordered that. Service - 4 stars: Overall, the service was good, someone always refilled our water, and the staff was generally nice. They accommodated the two cakes we brought and there were no cake cutting fees. If you're looking for a good time, the bar scene looked like it would be fun, but I would not recommend Elliot's for the food. read more

Loved the award winning New England Clam Chowder! Glad as a Yelper I voted for the winner and its still winning when enjoyed at restaurant. Tried newer Cheeseburger Ravioli appetizer and it was nothing as expected by name, or description. It was presented well, but taste wise it was almost an attempt of a mini wannabe fried empanada pocket. A guest and i tried one each, and could figure out strange meat mixture. We were expecting maybe a chopped ground beef and lots of cheese oozing out when opened. That was not the case and total miss for us. Luckily we also ordered the buffalo wings and chicken tidbits apps which went well with my French Martini and friends Flat Tire Draft. So all else was great, and would go back again. Elliot's customer service is off the charts. We were seated in the dining area on the second floor and I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive about being seated indoors. However, we were about 10 feet apart from each table, the waiters wore masks and handled the food wearing gloves which was assuring. Our table ordered Kung Pao Calamari, Penne Ala Vodka with chicken, Coconut Shrimp, Lobster Sandwich, Fish Tacos and Shrimp Tacos. The staff was so helpful in organizing our event, and answering the many logistical questions I called with. They reserved a prime space for us outside near the live music and the wait staff was very attentive to our group despite the restaurant being extremely crowded. The mussels, crab cakes and lobster rolls were the crowd favorites and were all delicious! The band was excellent and created a fun atmosphere out on the deck. I came here with a group of four on a Saturday night and they told us it would be about 15 minutes for a table. We waited at the bar area and they took us up in about 25 minutes. When we got upstairs the restaurant was about only 45% occupied. We ordered two lobster rolls and two entrees with oysters and ended up waiting 30 minutes for the oysters and then another 35 minutes for our meal. We noticed people who came afterwards were getting their meals before us. Our meal did not come out until we had to speak to management about it. When we spoke to management in regards to why it took so long she seemed very unapologetic and tried to avoid us at all cost. When the food came out the French fries were cold and the lobster was overcooked. For the amount they charge for their food it was not worth it at all. It was one of the worst dining experiences I had in a long time. To pay over $150 for food alone (no drinks) and to wait over an hour for food with unapologetic management was very upsetting to me. read more
