Authentic Puerto Rican food in central Louisiana-who knew? Detoured here on a recent road trip to visit historical sites in the region. A recent article in a LA mag called Country Roads put this place on our radar. Quaint location in downtown Leesville. Our server was helpful in guiding us in dish selection. We decided to try a popular appetizer and mains featuring pork and beef. Food was tasty. I'm glad I took the detour to have this experience.

The food is a #1. I'll definitely be back - very delicious and fresh. I'll take pictures of the menu next time and remember the name of this plate!

Unique food, and good enough service. Try the beef stew plate, or the tostones rellenos de carne.

Food is not the best flavor and over priced for what it is. Nice friendly atmosphere and great host and waiter

I was actually on my way to another restaurant when I spotted this place and noticed the sign…read moreadvertising Caribbean cuisine with a twist. That alone made me pull over -- and I'm really glad I did. I ordered the Chicken Burrito, which came fully packed with shredded cheese, creamy Rasta cheese, crispy fries, red onions, fresh cilantro, and a side of zesty jerk sauce. This burrito was loaded -- seriously generous -- and the flavor was absolutely on point. The jerk sauce added just the right kick without overpowering anything. My only small complaint is that it had a bit too much cheese for my taste. Even after trying to remove some, it was still pretty cheesy. But the overall flavor held strong, and it was still very enjoyable and extremely filling. I actually got two full meals out of this one burrito, which makes it a great value. I also tried the Rasta Pasta, and just like the burrito, my one minor critique is the amount of cheese -- a little heavy for me personally ( i was able to take some of it off) . But the pasta itself was delicious, and the portion size was solid. I also had the Island Punch, it was okay. Personally I would not order it again. What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were awesome -- friendly, welcoming, and genuinely made the experience better. Honestly, even if the food hadn't been good, I'd come back because of them. Luckily, the food is good, so it's a win all around.

The grits weren't good and were very dry and wasn't as favorable as I had hoped. Would I try it again yes just to see if it was just a bad or off day for them, but I'm not jumping up and now. The service was quick and friendly though!

Upon being seated, guests are presented with a simple yet genuinely authentic menu. The flavors remain consistently exceptional, a quality I believe is essential for any restaurant hoping to thrive in Alexandria. Caro's is far from the typical, run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant where meals are hastily assembled from a hot line and served with an inflated price tag. Instead, each dish reflects care, authenticity, and craftsmanship. Complementing the cuisine, the staff and atmosphere provide an added layer of warmth and charm. The establishment also features a small shop offering imported goods, further enhancing the overall experience. I strive for honesty and objectivity in my reviews, and I rarely award a full five stars. However, Caro's is an exception. This assessment is not based on a handful of visits but on years of consistently outstanding dining experiences. If I were to choose a single word to describe Caro's, it would be authentic. This restaurant exemplifies what true, heartfelt Mexican cuisine should be.
