Chicken sopa

Food was very tasty and had chicken with onions. Rice and beans well seasoned and just like I ate growing up. Tostones very fresh and the soup was a greater starter. Should have had a cortado or flan but was early meal. Would come again!

I haven't been here in years, and yet, this place is still bursting with awesomeness! The manager Rafael was so darn accommodating for my friend and I that he made our dining experience enjoyable. Here's what we ordered: 1. Shrimp/mango ceviche: A MUST HAVE! 2. Tilapia taco: DEFINITELY MUST HAVE! 3. Cuban tamale. 4. Media Noche (midnight) /Cuban sandwich w fried plantains. 5. Cuban classic roast pork w fried plantains and arroz Amarillo. Overall, this place is rated #7 best Cuban places in the world in 2019 for a reason. Give this place a shot, and please support good, delicious local restaurants! #LambChopOnTheGeaux #cafehabanacity #Lafayettela #cubanfood

We were looking to try something different, and this looked like the perfect time to try Cafe Habana. We were greeted and received our drinks promptly, and was pleasantly surprised by the sizes of the mugs, great value here. We had the plantains chips as an appetizer which was good, and not to filling, the main course Shrimp, and the beef were a little under seasoned for our taste, but ok. We will be back to try the Cuban sandwiches as this seemed what everyone was ordering and looked very appetizing.

Bumbu old fashioned, with a lemon peel instead of orange. A sip or two of it is missing, we drank a lil before taking the pic haha.

I came here last night with a few friends who had been wanting to check it out for quite some time now. I was excited to try something a little more adventurous, since smaller cities like Lafayette don't always have diverse dining scenes! We walked in, and the restaurant felt outdated and dive-y, but in a comforting, nostalgic kind of way. It was a Saturday evening, so I would have expected it to be a little busier, but I think that based on its location, Cafe Habana City is the kind of place that doesn't see too much foot traffic, unfortunately. There was a sign saying to seat ourselves, so we did, and after a couple minutes a server came to take our drink orders. I ordered the mojito, one of my friends ordered an old fashioned, and we ordered waters for the table. The server told us that it may be a little bit before we get our cocktails, as the bartender had a few drink orders ahead of us. After about 10 or so minutes, the old fashioned came out, and the mojito followed shortly behind. The bartender delivered the old fashioned and said she used a lemon peel because she was out of orange peels, and my friend seemed to like it a lot. My mojito was great! It balanced the mint and lime nicely and had a faint sweetness that brought it all together. We were never brought menus, as our server seemed to be juggling a lot, but it was all good because we had looked up the menu online and decided what we want. We placed our orders, and after several minutes, the server came to tell me they were out of the Pollo Empanizado, so I replaced it with the Bistec de Puerco, which was the same thing, just with pork instead of chicken. By the time the food came out, I had finished my mojito, and the server said it was only $7.50 or so, so I ordered another one! A few bites into my meal, the first mojito started to creep up on me, and I was feeling it!! My food came with two sides, and I had ordered the Papas Fritas (fries--basic, I know), and Tostones, which were double fried green plantains. The fries were standard fries, and the tostones were great! They had a nice, crunchy texture, and with a flavor that wasn't too sweet or salty or rich. The fried pork was amazing! I got about four large pieces of it. The breading had the perfect thickness, and the meat was tender and juicy. There was some sort of oily sauce that came with my food, and though I'm not sure what it was, everything went quite well with it! I left pretty intoxicated and with a full stomach, all for $31.95 pre-tip ($40 post tip). It was a chill meal with a laidback environment. I'd come back!

This is the place!

Cafe Habana City offers Cuban cuisine in the heart of Cajunland! It is located on Bertrand near many major traffic arteries, and not too far from the Ambassador Caffery Exit from Interstate 10. The location has plenty of parking, and offers indoor and outdoor seating. The Cuban cuisine seems very authentic, with many of the favorites that people come to expect. Things like Cuban Sandwiches, Midnight Sandwiches, and Fricassee of Chicken are all on the menu. However, I would advise digging deeper. Try their fried fish, which is very thin and crispy with a crumb breading, this is available as a plate or sandwich. Yucca can be had fried or boiled. Plantains are available both sweet and starchy. Sandwiches include one side, plates include two but you can always add extras! One nice extra is the cup of chicken noodle soup that is a appetizer included with meals. This is served with a wedge of lime which sets off its hearty flavor. Other things I enjoy adding on to my meal would be the coffee drinks. Cuban Coffee is sweetened espresso served in a small cup. This is a great way to start or finish your meal. Service is always prompt and friendly, and they will be glad to help you with the menu if you need some suggestions. Prices are good, especially at lunch. Definitely worth visiting fora deliciously different dining experience.

Only tip I have is to "sit anywhere". My group and I walked in and didn't know what to do. Took like 2 whole minutes to be acknowledged. They have a little sign saying "please sit anywhere" at one entrance but not the entrance we went through. I have bad social anxiety so I really almost took a star off for this. The young lady serving us was quite nice. The food is so freshly made and didn't take long to come out at all. For those reasons, I have to give 5 stars where it's due. This is some of the best food I've ever eaten. Everything is seasoned so well and portions are good. I had the Habana Mix which is a sampler plate. Rice, beans, cuban tamale, plantains and ropa Viejo (stewed beef). The flavors were amazing. Love love loved it! I included pictures of other meals had.

Haven't been here in years! The ambiance felt authentic, and the food is still delicious! We had the following: -Habana Sample II - stuffed beef potato, beef croquettes, beef tostones, and plantain chips -Lechon Asado - tender pieces of Cuban style marinated roast pork -Habana Mix Plate - shredded beef and Cuban tamale

Finding a quaint little Cuban cantina in southern Louisiana was not expected. I had heard about this place and their mojitos madness Fridays. We got a chance to stop in on a recent trip to Texas. It was located a bit off the I 10, but was easy to find. The music is Latin as well as the decor. Definitely felt the Cuban vibe walking in. We ordered 2 mojitos while we looked at the menu. It was hard to choose from all the dishes the offered. We ended up with two different combination platters, since we couldn't decide on a single dish. The food was awesome. The flavors were sublte, yet they complemented the meats well. We left full, happy and looking forward to out next trip.

Great lunch service was great food came it fast. The ceviche was really fresh served with plantain chips. It wasn't very acidic everything was finely diced and fit on the chips. Mango was refreshing. The shrimp taco had good flavor was really simple shrimp and sauce but was good. The black beans were good not great but the grilled meat were juicy and very flavorful.

Now that they have an official brick & mortar location, it was the perfect time to finally check them out! My first impressions? The dining area is absolutely beautiful and full of character. Definitely worth seeing for yourself. Now let's get to the food: - Pork Skins - Crispy and light! - Beef Empanadas - Juicy, flavorful, and even better dipped in their homemade sauces. - Ham Croquettes - Imagine a fried cheese stick with more texture and crunch. One of my favorites! - Chicken Wings - Fried and seasoned to perfection. Another favorite from the table. - El Cubano - Roasted pork, smoked ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard pressed between Cuban bread. A classic done right. - Pan Con Bistec - Thinly sliced steak, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, mayo, mustard, and pickles on pressed Cuban bread. Packed with flavor in every bite. - Cuban Flan - Absolutely TO DIE FOR! Easily one of my top 5 favorite desserts of all time. If you've been looking for authentic Cuban food in Baton Rouge, this spot deserves a visit. Safe to say I'll be pulling back up again soon. Tonylameats Approved

When my husband went up to order, he tried pointing at the menu (since it's large and easier that way), but the person wasn't accepting. He was only doing that to avoid mispronouncing anything, especially after I had just been corrected somewhat abruptly on pronunciation when I asked about an item. It made the interaction feel a bit uncomfortable. We went around 2-3, thinking it might be a quieter time since we were coming in with an infant (which is new for us), but it actually started getting pretty busy. They do have some baby/car seat accommodations, which was helpful, but the dining area itself isn't very spacious; there wasn't much room for a stroller. Overall, the food was great, and we'd still return if we were in the area again to try more items, but the customer service and space could definitely use some improvement.

When Patacon came up on my list I was ecstatic. We are Venezuelan/Colombian so finding our traditional food is always wonderful, especially after my celiac diagnosis. It was already 7pm so we had to take our food to go, but the restaurant is very clean inside and welcoming. The family who runs it are super nice and gave us lots of tips for our trips and made us want to go back. We ordered the reina pepiada and brisket arepas and we were in heaven. We have a lot of arepa places back in South Florida and my mom (who is super picky and hard to please) said the places we frequent should go to Patacon and learn from them! Gluten free review: happy to report, no issues with gluten for me having the reina pepiada! I asked about ingredients before ordering and it was a fit for me. ¡Gracias por todo al equipo Patacon! Both good choices. Overall, the wine pairing was okay. I like the appetizer pairing of a nice light, white bubbly prosecco. The second was a classic red wine to pair with a steak. The last wine is where I was not impressed. It was a dessert wine that had a smell similar to a distilled whiskey. I took a sip and decided I rather another glass of prosecco. Shout out to the server who was accommodating and swapped out that glass for what I requested. He didn't have to, but he did! The food was mouth watering delicious. We started off with the sauteed shrimp and the piquillo peppers. THANK GOD the piquillo peppers are a Solera regular. I will be getting them again. The shrimp were just okay, nothing out of this world. Second course was the filet with polenta. It was absolutely delicious and packed with flavors that complimented each other well. Final course we had the rum bread pudding and the manchego cheesecake. The manchego cheese is definitely a rich and an acquiring flavor. Without the blueberry sauce, you would think its just a slab of cheese. The rum bread pudding was spectacular. I have never loved a rum sauce with my bread pudding, but the Solera one kept me wanting more.
