I haven't seen Dr Lay for a few years but I wanted to leave a review just because he was such a positive experience in my life. I hadn't seen a dentist for years and years when I first met him 22 years ago when I laid down in the chair it was surreal. I don't know if you've ever experienced it almost like being in shock wanting to get away but he gave me time , a little talking. He was only worried about me , not worried about getting started. Then I felt okay. Over the years he saved a bunch of teeth . Led me through deep cleaning, very seldom do my gums bleed. He has done everything for me from referring me to my orthodontist, to fixing my chipped tooth, and all the in-between with regards to fillings and bi-yearly check-ups. I had an interesting experience once with one of the hygienist in the office. She told me she had worked for other dentists who told her to try to up-sell the patients on additional services and treatments and that Dr Lay does not do this. His current Covid-19 safety procedures are quite extensive. Each room had an air purifier, all the staff were masked and behind glass. I even had to rinse my mouth with special mouthwash before he began. He and his staff are professional and nice; they genuinely care for their patients. I have had two replacement fillings and one crown done so far. It's that middle-aged thing where all of your childhood toothwork starts to go and needs to be replaced or fixed. The office couldn't be in a more relaxing environment among redwood trees. During that time, he has helped one or all of us to deal with traumatic injury to teeth, normal childhood tooth problems, root canals, crowns, and the oh-so-dreaded loss of teeth. With all of these problems, as well as in matters of routine dental health maintenance, he has been professional, personable, sensitive to feelings, and dedicated to providing us with the best range of options and superior care. One of the things that sets Dr. Lay apart from other dentists we have visited over the years is his interest in educating us so that we can make informed decisions about what to do when dental problems arise. Educating us as patients starts with staying well-versed in the field himself, and to this end, for many years he participated in monthly get-togethers with other dentists, allowing him to stay abreast of new developments in the field. In his practice, when treatment decisions must be made, he is generous with his time, filling us in on the pros and cons of different choices, and never making us feel that he has to hurry on to the next patient. During procedures, he is meticulous in attending to matters of comfort. The work always looks great, and he works hard to get the "bite" right when tooth alignment changes. This dentist is a Crook! I was a patient there for years but I paid every visit and always had a bill for something else being sent to me. He filled a cavity and left a sharp part on my tooth which continued to cut my tongue every time I ate or talked. I went to have it fixed and was nickel and dimed for everything to fix the problem that they caused. I should not have been held responsible. DO NOT MISS OR CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT!!!!!!! There is a $100 cancellation fee for an appointment. so nothing better come up even 2 days before your appointment because you will be $100 poorer. It doesn't matter how compelling your reason, you will owe this money if you cancel giving any less than 48 hours notice!!!! read more
