Went today and exchange process is efficient and effective as other reviews, went to exchange for some Euros for my daughter's semester abroad. I did not mind that the owner is not chatty or friendly as others have mentioned, it is more important to focus on an accurate currency conversion and count. You should be aware of documentation requirements that are not disclosed in advance. John will ask you to produce your D/L and SS# or passport # to complete the transaction. Difficult to find parking. The exchange rate changes depending on how much you exchange! It is different every time.

I ring around the various currency exchange businesses on Yelp but Bretton Woods always has the best rate that I can find, and usually by quite a good margin. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop ringing around but it does mean I always check with them first. And usually end up going there. Pro tips: - The entrance is in the back left corner of the square back off the street. I purchased 600 British pounds a few months ago at Bretton Woods. When I got to London and tried to use a 20 pound note at a cafe, I was told that the notes were the older, larger sized bills and they had been out of circulation for a few years. Only the new polymer notes were accepted. I went to a bank to exchange them for new bills and was told that because I did not have a UK account with that bank, the only place I could exchange my money was at the Bank of England in the City section of London. This was a Friday afternoon and the BoE is open only M-F until 3pm. And, I was on my way to Hampshire so I was unable to exchange the notes. In essence, the money was nearly useless. read more
