Had a problem with my 4 year old Whirlpool Duet, determined the MCU was likely bad after internet search but the cost for one ranged from $ 270 and up. Was looking for a supplier that had one so that it could be fixed on one trip and not two. Could not find one but once I got in touch with Steve he offered some other less costly options that I should try first. Finally decided that the MCU was likely the culprit but asked Steve to come by and advise as to how to access it. That day he showed up, pulled the washer out, removed the back and handed the obviously burned up MCU. Showed me where I could order a refurbished unit for $85 and only charged me for his time at the house which was less than a half hour and he showed me how to reinstall it. Part came in yesterday, I installed, works fine. Thanks to Steve my total cost was less than $ 150 for a part that had I ordered it new would have been $ 266 plus the service call labor to install. Steve was right on time and was very honest with us and pleasant to deal with. We had an issue with codes F5 and E2 which was possibly the door lock. It also could have been the CCU (Computer Control Unit) and would have cost us hundreds of dollars to fix a machine that has a life span of about 8 years. It ended up being just a loose wire. Outstanding service, we originally called aa appliance repair service to fix our 3 year old Frigidaire front loading washer, the original repair guy told us that the machine had a bad computer board and charged me $75.00, he stated the machine was not worth fixing because it would be $300-$400 total. Steven from Space Coast Washer and Dryer actually came to our house to sell us another washer and take our broken machine away, he asked if he could look at the Frigidaire, in less than 5 minutes Steven diagnosed and fixed our frigidaire washer by changing a simple door lock. So my Maytag Bravo XL has been getting louder than ever lately, until last night I noticed a giant oily spatter underneath it. After researching the problem on youtube, I come to find it's the bearings and the seal. Call other appliance repairs and they can't wait to make their own diagnostic for a service call. I call B.A. bc of reviews I read on here and the owner gave me great advice on how to resolve the issue. He was VERY honest and didn't make a dime on his advice to replace the unit b/c it's not worth it to me..the consumer ...to repair it. Although this isn't always the case, in my washer's case, it is. We have a Samsung washer ( approximately 10 years old ). The washer drum started to vibrate a lot during the spin cycles. Called Steve and he stopped by the next day to check our washer. After a brief check of the unit, he advised us to go buy a new washer as the cost to repair would be high and not worth the investment in a machine of this age. Also getting parts was problematical as well. Before leaving, Steve gave us suggestions on the best brands to consider going forward and did not CHARGE us for his service call. Great guy ! read more
